Chapter 140: Sports Entertainment

"Then I suggest you get it up before Friday. Work hard, listen to the girls, but most importantly, practice. I'll be spending all this week checking in with the others to tell me of your progress, I'll also be working on the brackets. So, get ready you guys. Cause if you're serious about your skills and want to learn the 'advanced' tactics, then you all need to bust your ass!" With that Isaac dismissed the group as they all headed in separate directions to meet with their mentors.

"Okay, just focus Twilight. You always wanted to be a teacher, you just didn't expect it to come so fast. Nor in high school. No pressure." said Twilight as she was doing her best to calm down from having a panic attack. "Calm, just be calm. I'm calming!!!!" shouted Twilight as she was having an anxiety attack.

"Twilight!!" shouted Isaac. "I got headphones in my ears and I can still hear you." said Isaac as he got up from one of the study areas nearby as he was with the nerdy girl in the library. After he parted ways with Sunset, Isaac headed to the library to not only check up on his girlfriend but also to get some assignments done. However, knowing how Twilight always got before her lessons he shouldn't have expected anything less.

"I'm trying not to panic!" sounded Twilight. "I got everything. Flashcards, dueling manual, pen and paper, my deck. Am I missing anything else?" asked Twilight as she was looking inside of her backpack.

"Yeah, common sense." said Isaac with a smart remark as he leaned against the table that Twilight was sitting at.

"Screw you!" yelled Twilight as she looked at her boyfriend.

"You're welcome." smiled Isaac with a smug look.

"God, you're annoying." said Twilight. "Look instead of standing there, why don't you help me. You're my boyfriend."

"I'm your boyfriend, not your personal assistant." replied Isaac. "Besides, my job as the headmaster of this program is to oversee how you girls are teaching these kids and give my input. Not directly take over for you, plus the one day out of the week they meet with me is to see what the results are so far. That way I can see who really is learning and who's slacking."

"Yeah, okay. By the way, what are you listening to?" asked Twilight.

"Just something I listened to when I was a kid with my family." said Isaac as he put on the ear buds in his right ear while Twilight grabbed the other and put it in her ear as she started to listen to Isaac's music.

"Interesting." said Twilight.

"Well, anyways, I should leave you be. I need to take care of somethings. But we're still on for our Chemistry study session tonight." asked Isaac.

"Of course."

"Great, I'll see you then." said Isaac as he prepared to grab his backpack only for Twilight to grab the sleeve of his hoodie.

"Before you go." Twilight then captured Isaac's lips with hers as she closed her eyes as she cusped Isaac's face.

Isaac responded by wrapping his arms around Twilight as he lifted her off the ground and held his girlfriend. Twilight then pulled away as Isaac put her back on the ground as they both looked at each other. Soon Twilight pulled Isaac into another kiss as it lasted a bit longer than this time.

"Alright, that's enough." said Isaac as he broke from his girlfriend's arms as he grabbed his backpack and slung it over his shoulder. "I need to get going."

"I'll see you tonight." smiled Twilight. "By the way, what did you want to say to me before I went into a panic attack?"

"Oh, uhm..." Isaac's eyes immediately widen at Twilight's question. "Well, it's uhm..." Isaac then put a chair in front of him as he walked around the table as he was on the other side.

"Isaac? What are you doing?"

"Just making sure that I have my escape path." said Isaac nervously as he was sweating. He then put another chair in between him and Twilight as his back was in front of the door and saw that he had a clear shot.

"What? Look whatever it is, just tell me." stated Twilight as she took a step forward only for Isaac to take a step back.

"That's what I'm afraid of." said Isaac as he made sure to watch Twilight's movements and act accordingly.

"Just tell me!" demanded Twilight as she placed a hand on her hip.

"Well, it's just that..." said Isaac as he covered his mouth.

"What?"

"That...." mumbled Isaac.

"Speak up."

"Sunset... me." said Isaac as he still had his hand over his mouth.

"Take your hand off your mouth, now!!" shouted Twilight as it caused him to go stiff as a board for a second. "Tell me!"

"Alright, uhm... Sunset... broke your scared rule."

"WHAT!?!" shouted Twilight as the whole library shook. Thankfully, there was nobody there.

"And that's my cue!" said Isaac as he started to make a run for it as Twilight immediately tried to grab at Isaac only for her to fall through the obstacles Isaac had put in front of him as it had managed to slow her down.

"Isaac!! You get back here!!" shouted Twilight as she was on the ground with the chairs having been knocked over as she pounded the ground. "Sunset!" gritted Twilight as she couldn't believe that her friend would break her rule. "How many times do I have to tell her, Isaac is mine!" huffed Twilight as she had steam coming out of her ears.

"Calm down, Twi. At least, Isaac was honest with you. He knows he would never cheat on our relationship, besides it was Sunset who threw herself at Isaac, not the other way around." said Twilight as she tried to be reasonable with her boyfriend. "He always tells me when stuff like this happens, nothing major, right? Unless, he's not only doing it with Sunset. What if the others have also done this and Isaac's keeping it all a secret? Is he cheating on me? Are the girls lying to me? No, not possible. It's not like if we broke up that Isaac doesn't have tons of options standing in front of him with our friends. Who would so easily hook up with him in heartbeat." said Twilight as she went into full panic mode as she freaked out.

"Is that what Isaac thinks of our relationship? Is he gonna kick me out of the house now?" said Twilight. "Keep it together, girl!" stated Twilight as she slapped herself in the face. "Okay, I think that worked. Ow!" Twilight rubbed her cheek as she regretted that action. She then took a deep breath as it gave her a sense of clarity; she then looked at the clock as she had to gather herself as she would soon meet with her student.

Jason Starrs had just finished putting his books away in his locker as he had finished his classes. Once he opened his locker, he got a message from his phone that said his parents had a match tonight and they wouldn't be home till late at night. He then responded to them as he put it in his pocket and looked at the many small photos that littered the inside of his locker as it was of him and his family as well as all the accomplishments they won in the world of wrestling. Still he did question how Pinkie was able to get a hand on these of photos of his and break into his locker to decorate it. Regardless, he grabbed his deck and looked at it for a bit as recent memories came to him.

(Quick replay)

"Looks like you still have a lot to learn." said Shining Armor as he looked at his opponent as he was disappointed. "Word of advice kid, know when you're in over your head, cause if you don't then you'll get severely hurt. Now I sacrifice my 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons!" Shining Armor's monsters then turned into energies as their spirits were being used as the card that Shining Armor had drawn was now being held high as the power was being seeped into it. "I now summon Obelisk the Tormentor! Now, finish off the kid, with your Fist of Fury!!" said Shining Armor as he had his hand out. Obelisk then raised his fist as it was surrounded by a powerful force and then it thrusted his hand out as it made contact with Jason who was thrown onto his back as he felt the attack of the god card.

(Memory Change)

"Word of advice for you and the rest of them. Never start something you can't finish." said Isaac. "I didn't ask for this challenge, but I'm sure as hell gonna end this and give you all a proper lesson... This duel is already over!" said Isaac. "Time to end this little façade." Isaac then showed his entire hand to Jason as his eyes widen in fear.

"No. No! NO!!!!" shouted Jason as he fell down.

"I've assembled all five pieces of Exodia." stated Isaac as he put the cards on his tray and spread them out. Soon an ancient seal appeared behind Isaac as all parts of Exodia then started to merge as it appeared and gave an intimidating look that would cause anybody to have fear.

"This can't be!" said Jason as he was starting to back away slowly as all his monsters were now cowering in fear.

"Exodia! Obliterate!!!" shouted Isaac as Exodia thrusted its arm out and with one shot took out all of Jason's monsters and his life points as he was sent flying and he too joined the others on the floor.

"I put this red X on my chest because I know I am the target. So a little piece of advice to whoever wants to come at me next and to everybody reading this right now, remember one thing. They stop manufacturing the cloth that I'm cut from!!" shouted Isaac.

(End of Memory)

"Grr. They both made a fool of me." gritted Jason as he clutched his deck.

"How could he say stuff like that to me?!" asked Jason. "My cards are some of the most powerful to ever be used in the dueling committee and the pro scene. Thousands of people have similar decks to mine, where they have supped up and powerful cards. So why doesn't Isaac see that?" Jason then looked over his cards as he was trying to figure out the answer. "Whatever. I need to get going." said Jason as he slammed his locker shut and made his way to his destination.

It didn't take long as soon he found himself standing out of the door as he looked at the sign in front of him. "Well, this is the place. Though given how she introduced herself when Isaac assigned her as my tutor; I should have guessed that this would be her hangout." Jason then put his hand on the handle as he opened the door and walked into the library. It didn't take long as he soon found the table Twilight was at as she had apparently fallen asleep while panicking over be prepared. Jason just rolled his eyes and saw the collection of neatly organized pencils as he got an idea. He then reached over and moved one slightly out of place.

"Ahh!" yelped Twilight as that was enough to wake her up.

"Oh my god, that shit worked." said Jason as he was surprised that his idea worked. He then took a seat across from Twilight.

"Oh, you're here." said Twilight as she put her glasses on and put the pencil back in its proper place. "How long..."

"Just arrived." said Jason.

"I see. Well then, I guess you're ready to start." asked Twilight.

"Ehh." said Jason as he shrugged his shoulders.

"Okay, now pull out your worksheets." suggested Twilight.

Unlike the other girls, Twilight took her lesson to heart, as she always had Jason writing a short essay on several topics about Duel Monsters. Which usually ranged from different types of cards, to the different summoning methods, to even describing what a card does. Safe to say that Twilight took the role of teacher literally as she gave Jason assignments and provided a grade on each of them. Isaac knew what his girlfriend was doing, but given that everytime he tried to convince her that she didn't need to do this, she just ignored him and went about her own business. In the end, Isaac just gave up on trying to change Twilight's ways of teaching. He only hoped that she could be able to get her student to learn something.

"Can I just say something?" asked Jason as he pulled out his 3 page essay on the history of spell cards.

"You can ask me anything you want? That's what a good tutor does, right?" said Twilight with the biggest smile she could muster as her left eye twitched.

"Right. At least the ones who aren't insane." stated Jason as that last part he said to himself. "So, you're Isaac's girl?"

"Well, that's not the word I'd use, but yes." said Twilight.

"So, how did you end up with him?"

"Well, that is a story in itself. To be honest, we first met in a duel."

"Figures." said Jason as he rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, well at the time we were rivals due to a school competition that was around the corner."

"I think I remember hearing something like that at orientation. Something called the Friendship Cup?"

"Friendship Games, actually." corrected Twilight. "It was Crystal Prep taking on Canterlot High in a school rivalry of sorts. Anyways, I was currently a student at CPA and had been selected to compete, against my will."

"Let me guess, Isaac and the others were your enemies?" stated Jason.

"Enemy is strong word, but... yeah. CPA wanted to destroy CHS to show their dominance. So me and the others all spent weeks studying their past footage, collecting data, even running drills/scenarios with our practice bots that used their decks."

"If that was the case, then you and your team swept CHS clean?" asked Jason.

"That was far from the case. Turns out Isaac had a plan of his own, he simply added and fine tuned each of the girls' decks and they managed to take us by surprise. Moreso that they tied and eventually won the competition."

"Woah, woah. Hold up. He just added cards to their decks and that was enough to throw you and the rest of CPA in disorder. Kinda pathetic really." stated Jason.

"What do you mean, pathetic?" asked Twilight.

"How does one card or just adding something to a deck have that much significance? It's doesn't make sense, if you all studied their decks then surely you would have noticed any changes they could have potentially made. And yet, Isaac just magically adds cards and that's enough to throw you off your game." stated Jason. "That's the dumbest reason to lose."

"How would you know? Enlighten me." demanded Twilight.

"Simple. A deck is made up of cards that are fitted to certain archetype. Take for example, a Burning Abyss deck. They have specific cards that make it function, there's no room to add other hodgepodge cards. It'd be weird if you suddenly threw in something like a Phantom Knight cards, cause it wouldn't work. As far as I'm concerned, a deck has to be strict in what it's required to use, not just a mix of other cards that don't match it's playstyle. Nor should you include cards that just catch your attention, you need to stick within the confines of what your deck is made to do. Like mine." said Jason as he put it on the table. "It's mostly has Blue-Eyes cards, with a bit of Kaijus, but overall they high powerful monsters that I can call upon with ease. It makes no sense if I suddenly decided to add something like Solemn Judgement or something that hinders my performance." stated Jason.

"Then I wonder how Isaac beat you? Since his deck is full of mixed cards." stated Twilight.

"Yeah, that's not true. He relies too much on his Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl. And his overall theme of his deck is spellcasters." informed Jason.

"Then you didn't pay attention when he embarrassed you all in that gauntlet match. See, my boyfriend isn't a one trick pony. He's always constantly changing the cards in his deck and allowing different types of monsters to shine. Sure he uses some repetitive cards, but he works off of that and builds on it to improve new ways to duel." said Twilight as she put her hand on the desk. "He's shown that not everything has to be black and white, it can be filled with a plethora of colors. I used to think the same way, that a deck should only be made to fit a certain function. But Isaac showed me that a deck doesn't have to be mechanical, cause if that's all its for, then you lose the idea of having fun."

"Mechanical? Fun? A deck is suppose to help you win. And my cards say that I can win. They are powerful, they are tough and they unstoppable. The only reason why I lost to both Isaac and Shining Armor is because..."

"They're that much better than you!!" interrupted Twilight as she raised her voice. Jason was taken aback by how Twilight acted as he never picture the nerdy girl to behave like this. "Listen, you can choose to ignore what I say and believe whatever ideal you want. But you better watch what you say about my brother and especially about my boyfriend!" Seems all the time Twilight had spent listening to Isaac's mic skills and his tough demeanor from growing up on the streets of Chicoltgo was now having an effect on the adorkable girl as she was now showing off her aggressive side.

"Sorry, didn't mean to make a fuss over it." apologized Jason as he wanted to avoid suffering anymore of Twilight's wrath.

"I'm sorry too." said Twilight as she shook herself as she didn't know what came over her just now. It did feel good for a while. "Look... Isaac needs us to trust one another. And to be honest, all I've been doing since you got paired up with me is doing the lessons I've assigned you. So why don't tell me a bit about yourself?" asked Twilight as she leaned back in her chair and pulled out a small notepad and a pencil.

"Where to start? I guess, it begins with my parents. Both of my parents are wrestlers. They've traveled the world honing their craft against other people. But I'm getting ahead of myself. My father was born to a small family, at a young age he wanted to pursue wrestling. So he enrolled into a small wrestling school where he began to train hard. By the age of 11 he had a bit more muscle than kids his age. Eventually, after he was done with highschool, he tried to strike out on his own in the wrestling scene instead of going to college. He wasn't the biggest fan of school and didn't want to be buried in tons of debt. Anyways, for the first few months, he did some work on the independent scene, or 'indies' as they're called." said Jason.

"Fascinating." said Twilight as she was scribbling all of this information. "Continue."

"He had a fair amount of success, nothing too big. All the money he made from his time during the indies, he was able to afford a decent car. Though he never had enough to afford a place, so often times he had to sleep in that car and eventually lived out of it. For the next few years, he kept traveling around visiting city from city, trying to find an agent that would manage him. During that time, he met some other people in the wrestling business that had 'personal' issues."

"Like?" asked Twilight.

"Drug use, abuse between loved ones, murderers." stated Jason. "Though he did his best to keep away from that type of group. Being in this kind of business, can really affect your mental and health in just a matter of moments. Continuing on, my father was in a city performing in a school gymnasium for a group of 50 people. After the show, he was approached by someone dressed in a business suit. Turns it was an agent who was looking for some talent. He had been watching my father for a quite a while and was impressed by what he saw. He said that he still had a long way to go, but there was potential. So he gave my father his business card and my father took it under consideration. Eventually, he agreed and the two of them met to discuss business."

"What happened after that?" said Twilight.

"They became partners, the man started to manage my father as his agent and promotor. It wasn't a good start in the beginning, the only thing that changed was that my father got to work with some famous and professional wrestlers, but he was paid to lose those fights. It was almost broke him that he was being forced to lose when all he wanted to do was show off his skills. One time while he was doing a house show, he met the person who he was facing as he was a well renowned superstar who belonged to a well established wrestling company. They were going over the finish of the match and as predicted, they wanted my face to eat the pin. As frustrated as my father was, he had a job to do and he would do it to the best of his ability." informed Jason. "So they had the match and my father was able to hang with his opponent despite him being a pro. However, while they were hitting each other with strikes and open palms, the person who was wrestling my father saw his ruthless aggression. And so he did something that nobody saw coming?"

"What?" asked Twilight.

"He let my dad win. After a trade of chain wrestling moves, my father hit his big finish. And then went to cover and the referee counted one... counted two... and then his hand came down for the final time as my dad was declared the winner. Everybody was in shock, especially my father and his agent. After the show, he came up to the both of them and he did the most unprecedent thing and that was shaking my father's hand and wishing him good luck." Jason had a smile on his face as he remembered when his dad told him that story. "It was the happiest moment of my dad's career. And he took those words to heart and continued to chase after his dream. And he would get it when he signed with a wrestling promotion. But the journey didn't stop there, in fact it got harder. He had to learn that this was a business and in business sometimes you have to do things that you aren't a fan of. One being is that you have to 'job' to other people who are prioritized more."

"Care to clarify?" stated Twilight.

"See wrestling is more than just some fancy moves, or seeing people sweat. It's main function is to tell a story; it's called sports entertainment, so you have to entertain the crowd you perform for and try to convey a certain message. Not to mention there are roles in wrestling?"

"Roles?"

"You know good guy, bad guy. We call them 'faces' and 'heels'."

"Go on." said Twilight as she was writing this down.

"As you know, wrestling is primarily a battle between good vs evil; however, it doesn't end as predictable as you think. Sometimes the bad guy wins the feud and is acknowledged as the better man; the idea is to make what you see as real as it can get. So even though the hero is suppose to win, sometimes they just come up short and that's just life, which is true. Other times he becomes the underdog and he fights with all he's got and through everything that's thrown his way he survives and still comes out on top. Again that's a real-life scenario, but not as common in reality. The key thing is to tell a story." stated Jason. "Which I guess dueling and Duel Monsters do the same thing."

"What kind of story?"

"Real anything. Good v. Evil, friend vs friend, betrayal between partners, love triangle, etc... Things that happen in real life that you can connect with." said Jason. "Anyways, for the first 2 years, my father was given the role of 'jobber' which is essentially means he has to make others look good by losing. There are roles you need to follow in this business, and my father was given the lowest one. But still it paid good money and he was able to afford a house and upgrade his car. Eventually, while he was working a match, he got paired with the person who was the world champion of the company at the time. Surprisingly it was the same person who he had met all those years ago during the house show event. Like before they had barn burner match, he even allowed my father to shine and show off his moves as he chose to eat the strikes and moves. But they still had to follow a script and unlike last time, my father had to lose."

"What next?" asked Twilight.

"Well, both of them shook hands in front of the crowd as they cheered them for putting on a classic. They made it backstage to guerrilla where the champion got to talking with the owner. Safe to say he was less than pleased that his star champion had gone offscript and allowed my father to show off his moves. My father was nearby and knew that they were talking about him; but he knew it wasn't his place to interrupt so he just sat in silence and overheard the conversation." stated Jason. "The owner was pissed by what he saw as he asked the champ what the hell he was doing. He just responded by saying, 'We need future stars. And if you can't see talent in front, then you're missing out on some serious potential.' After that he walked off and the owner looked at my father with a scowl. It wasn't pleasant, but it was the start of my father finally getting his push. The following matches after that, he was put with other superstars that were considered 'main event' caliber. And each match he had he got better and slowly started to gain the owner's attention. Soon he was booked into several feuds and began to win them until finally he got a shot to compete for the world title. And it was none other than the same person who had helped him, and so their finally blowoff match, my father beat him clean and became champion. They both showed sportsmanship and were given a standing ovation."

"He must have been proud." said Twilight.

"He was, but he soon would be happier cause he would soon meet my mother. She was one of the new referees that had been hired by the company my dad worked for. One time while backstage, she was being hit on by another performer. She didn't want anything to do with him, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. So my father came to her rescue and told him to back off, especially cause he was the world champion which nobody wanted to tussle with him. Soon they got to talking and well, they eventually got to know each other. The easy part was that since they worked in the same business, they didn't have to worry about picking spots to go on dates since the company was always traveling from city to city. During sessions, my mother would always observe my father running through his drills with his trainer and agent. Eventually, he saw how committed she was and asked if she had dreams on becoming a wrestler. My mother didn't reply at first, so my dad offered to show her some techniques. So when he executed a wrestling hold on her, she counter beautifully and took down with my father with ease and put him in the hold. Safe to say that my father was now both impressed and scared by my mother." chuckled Jason.

"So they trained together and eventually, my father convinced the owner to give my mother a trial match for the women's division of the company. He granted him his request and when the time came, she knocked it out of the park. Even my father admitted that she did better than he did in his debut match. Soon both of them climbed the ranks of the wrestling ladder as a couple. Then something magically happened, the night my mother was main eventing the card, she was also competing for the women's title. It was a struggle but she won and then my father rushed the ring and in front of the thousands of fans, got down on a knee and proposed to her. It was like a fairytale ending, and the two got engaged. Then, I was born."

"And how did that change things?" asked Twilight.

"Well, as wrestlers, they had a commitment to their jobs. They had their material leave, but once my mother was cleared to return to the ring, they knew they couldn't abandon their son by not being there for most of the time. So they made the decision to bring me to work, and so I grew up in this business as I watched my parents do the thing they loved the most. Eventually, the traveling got too much for them as their bodies were starting to take a toll on them, and so they each a farewell match as they put over a younger talent. Since then, we settled down and my parents are sometimes called back to make an appearance or do a one off match every so often. But growing up and traveling meant that I had to move from place to place and I could never get a proper education. So that's one of the reason why I'm here at CHS, to get the education that I missed out on." said Jason.

"Look, my life may not be like yours. And I'm not in the position to judge your childhood, but I can understand where you're coming from." said Twilight. "So, I promise to do all that I can to give you the proper education that you deserve."

"Okay." said Jason.

"Now then, let's have our duel." said Twilight as she flipped another page of her notepad and wrote down their life totals.

Twilight's Life Points: 4000-

Jason's Life Points: 4000-

Turn 1: Twilight

"I'll start things off," said Twilight as she drew her cards, "I'll start by summoning my Amores of Prophecy(600/2000) in defense mode. Then I activate the effect of my Amores of Prophecy, so by revealing a 'Spellbook' in my hand, I can special summon 1 Level 4 or lower spellcaster-type monster from my hand. So I reveal my Spellbook of Fate so that I can summon my Apple Magician Girl(1200/800)." said Twilight as she had two of her monsters on the field. "With that I'll place one card facedown and end my turn."

Turn 2: Jason

"Then it's my turn, so here goes." shouted Jason as he picked up his card. That facedown that Twilight put is obviously the card she showed me when she activated her monster's effect. So I'm too worried, plus I've got powerful cards that will render it useless. Question is: which one should I play?

Just keep thinking like that, Jason. Soon you'll find out the hard way that being closed minded is going to hurt more than you expect.

"I'll start by activating the spell card, The Melody of Awakening Dragon. So I discard a card from my hand so that I can add 2 Dragon monsters from my deck with 3000 or more attack points and 2500 or less defense points. So I'll discard my Return of the Dragon Lords so that I can 2 copies of my Blue-Eyes White Dragons to my hand." said Jason as he placed his spell in the discard pile while he grabbed his deck and added his monsters to his hand as he shuffled his deck.

"Hmm." said Twilight.

"Something up?" asked Jason.

"No, continue with your move." stated Twilight. She knew why Isaac assigned Jason as her mentee due to the fact she had lots of experience facing Blue-Eyes from her duels with her brother.

"In that case, I'll reveal the Blue-Eyes in my hand so that I can summon Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon(3000/2500) to the field. Then I'll play the spell Polymerization so that I can fuse together the 2 Blue-Eyes in my hand so that I can fusion summon Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon(3000/2500)." said Jason as he placed both of his monsters in the graveyard and replaced them with another monster from his Extra Deck. "My monster's ability allows it to make 2 attack during the Battle Phase. So I'll now clear your field by taking out your Amores of Prophecy. Then I'll take out your Apple Magician Girl."

"My Amores is destroyed, but my Apple Magician Girl isn't." said Twilight with an anime smile as her glasses were now blank white. "Cause since you attacked her, you activated her special ability, which means I can now summon 1 Level 5 or lower spellcaster from my hand and then your dragon has to target it. So I special summon my Kiwi Magician Girl(1800/1200)." said Twilight as she summoned her new monster on her field.

"Not like it changes anything, it's still weaker." scoffed Jason.

"Perhaps I should have instructed you on your reading. Cause my Apple Magician Girl's effect makes so that you target my new monster, but she cuts your monster's attack points in half. Which means your Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon loses 1500 attack points making it weaker than my magician." said Twilight with a smile on her face.
Jason's Life Points: 3700-

"No way! How could my dragon lose against a card like that? It's powerful." exclaimed Jason.

"Like Isaac said, having 'meta' cards doesn't mean shit." stated Twilight with a scowl on her face. "Though that does mean my Kiwi Magician Girl is banished."

"In that case, I'll end my turn." Twilight got lucky, I won't make that same mistake again.

Turn 3: Twilight

"My turn, so I play my Spellbook of Knowledge. I send my Spellbook of Life to the graveyard so that I can draw 2 cards." Twilight then grabbed her card and put it in the discard pile as she picked up the top cards of her deck. "Next I'll summon my Charioteer of Prophecy(1800/1300) in defense mode. Then I activate his ability, so I discard a 'Spellbook' so that I can add a spellcaster back to my hand." Twilight then sent her Spellbook of Master in the discard pile as she added her Amores of Prophecy back to her hand. "Then I'll set one card facedown and end my turn."

Turn 4: Jason

"Back to me." said Jason as he drew his card. I know what Twilight is doing, she's hoping that I attack her Apple Magician Girl. Well, it's not going to work. "To start, I'll play the spell Raigeki so that I can destroy all the monsters you have on the field."

"In response, I'll activate my Spellbook of Wisdom and apply its power to my Apple Magician Girl. Now she can't be targeted by spells." said Twilight as she managed to save her monster from destruction as she still had one monster on the field.

"Grr. In that case, I'll play De-fusion to split my Blue-Eyes Twin Burst back into two Blue- Eyes White Dragons." said Jason as he sent his monster away and grabbed from his discard pile the two monsters. "Now I play The White Stone of Ancients(600/500). Now I tune my Level 1 White Stone of Ancients with my Level 8 Blue-Eyes White Dragon in order to synchro summon Azure Eyes Silver Dragon(2500/3000) in defense mode. Since I synchro summoned it, you can't target my dragons with card effects till the end of the next turn nor can it be destroyed." stated Jason. "So your little trick isn't going to work this time. So Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon take our her Apple Magician Girl."
Twilight's Life Points: 1200-

"Well, you're nearly beat. So I'll end my turn."

Turn 5: Twilight

"My turn, so I play Pot of Greed to draw 2 more cards. Then I now activate my other facedown, Hidden Spellbook. So now I can add the 2 spell cards in my graveyard back to my deck." said Twilight as she placed her monster in the discard pile and then grabbed her chosen spells as she reshuffled her deck. "I now play Spellbook of Secrets so that I can add a 'Spellbook' to my hand. And I choose this one, Spellbook of Power." said Twilight as she grabbed her card and then began to shuffle her deck once more. "Now I'll play the field spell, The Grand Spellbook Tower and then place a monster in defense mode."

Turn 6: Jason

"Looks like you have nothing, just I expected, when you have powerful cards like mines. You're guaranteed to win. Watch." said Jason as he picked up his card. "Now I'll have my Alternative White Dragon take out your facedown monster."

"My facedown monster was Apprentice Magician and when it's destroyed, I can special summon another one to take its place." said Twilight as she grabbed her deck and placed another copy of her monster in defense mode.

"It makes no difference, my second Blue-Eyes can still attack and it will do just that." said Jason as he took out Twilight's monster.

"Just like before, I'll replace it with my third one." said Twilight as she summoned her third Apprentice Magician as she shuffled her deck.

"I end my turn."

Turn 7: Twilight

"My turn, first the effect of my field spell activates. During my Standby Phase, since I control a spellcaster, I can return a 'Spellbook' from my graveyard to the bottom of my deck and draw a card." Twilight then grabbed her Spellbook of Secrets and placed it on the bottom of her deck as she picked up a card. "Then I draw a card for my turn. Just what I needed to finish this duel, now I play Spellbook of Nullification. With this, you can't activate any spells/traps till the end of my turn."

"What? Fine, you still can't take down my dragons." said Jason.

"Wanna bet, cause now I play my Oracle Scroll." said Twilight as she played a spell that had a picture of a scroll and a quill. Now the first thing is that for every spell currently in my graveyard, my Oracle Scroll gains a spell counter. So right now I have 4 counters, then I'll flip over my Apprentice Magician which allows me to add another spell counter thanks to its effect. So now my Oracle Scroll has 5 counters." stated Twilight.

"So what's the point?" asked Jason.

"Let enlighten you, one thing that my Oracle Scroll allows me to do is that depending on how many counters it currently has, I can summon a spellcaster from my deck whose level matches that number once per turn. So I can summon my Emperor of Prophecy(2300/2000)." said Twilight as she grabbed her deck and summoned her monster. "Now I activate its effect, so I banish my Apprentice Magician and 1 'Spellbook' from my graveyard so that I can take control of one of your monsters till the end of the turn. So I choose your Blue-Eyes White Dragon." said Twilight as Jason handed his monster to Twilight.

"Even with my dragon under your influence, there's no way you'll deal me enough damage."

"Now my Oracle Scroll has multiple effects that I can activate with its counters, like this one. I remove 3 spell counters to destroy all the monsters you control on the field."

"Wait, what?" stated Jason as he was surprised by how Twilight was able to wipe his field.

"Now since I used Emperor of Prophecy's effect, I can't attack with him. But I have a way around that, cause I now activate another effect of my Oracle Scroll. So I remove the last 2 counters so that I can draw a card. And I think you know where this goes." smiled Twilight.

"Yeah, you'll draw a card and if its a monster you'll summon it and then take out my life points using it and my dragon." said Jason.

"Indeed, now then." Twilight drew her card. "I drew Fool of Prophecy(1600/900). So this is game." said Twilight as she didn't even bother calling her attack.
Jason's Life Points: 0-

Winner: Twilight

"Man." said Jason as he threw his cards on the table. "How did you beat me? I had an unstoppable force! My cards were about to crush you."

"Like I've been telling you, powerful cards don't guarantee you a win. Your deck is fine and strong, but that alone won't get you far in life. If you're serious about being a top duelist, then you need to rethink about your mindset. Cause if not, then the same thing will happen again. Isaac and Shining Armor are going to embarrass you to the point that it will make you quit Duel Monsters. Believe me, I know." spoke Twilight in a soft tone as she had a similar experience growing up and having to face her big brother. Everytime she felt like she had him figured out, he would always respond with his Blue-Eyes that would be able to put away Twilight with ease that sometimes she cried at times.

"I... I... see. I'll... think about what you said." said Jason.

"Sorry." said Twilight as she hadn't realized that she had been shedding some tears. "Anyways, we're done. Go home and practice before Friday."

"You got it, Ms. Sparkle." replied Jason as he gathered his stuff and exited out of the library.

"I should probably head out too, Isaac and Sunset are waiting for me." said Twilight as she grabbed her backpack and started to head home. She quickly looked at her deck as a thought occurred. Shining Armor may have bullied me growing up with his pet, but at least I get my revenge through Isaac. She arrived at the house as Isaac and Sunset were at the dinner table as they had their Chemistry stuff out and were studying.

"You're finally here." said Isaac as he saw Twilight.

"You guys started without me." said Twilight as she took a seat at the table and took out her notes.

"We just started." said Sunset. "So how'd your session go?"

"I think I was able to get the message across." said Twilight.

"Hey, that's all I ask." said Isaac as he had walked into the kitchen and brought out a bowl of chips. "Care for a quick snack? Applejack is having dinner with her family, Fluttershy and Rainbow won't be back till later tonight. Which means Pinkie is going to be the one who's in the kitchen."

"Just hope it doesn't explode like last time." said Twilight as she grabbed a chip.

"Tell me about it, I nearly lost my shit when that happened." said Isaac as he was less than pleased by what his little sister did.

"Putting that aside, are we all ready for the tournament?" asked Sunset as she munched on a chip.

"Luna and Celestia have overlooked the finalization and we're good to go." said Isaac as he sat back down. "Though I'm saying right now, whoever wins better rest up. Cause the real challenge is going to be that much harder."

"Well, I got 10 pet treats riding on Twilight to win the tournament." said Spike as he made his presence known as he was accompanied by Tigre as both of them were walking down the stairs.

"Meow." responded Tigre.

"Twenty?" shouted Spike.

"Meow."

"Of course, I'm not scared. Ugh... fine. Deal." said Spike as he shook paws with Tigre. He was hoping that he wouldn't live to regret his decision.

Isaac and the girls just laughed. It seemed that nearly everybody was ready for the tournament on Friday. And it came sooner than expected as the event was upon them. In which one person would earn the right and challenge Isaac at the Fall Formal in a few weeks to battle for the title of Canterlot High Duel Champion.

Author's Note:

Well, that was the last prep chapter between the students and the tutors before the actually tournament begins. So the question now is: who's going to win? Well, I know the answer to that since I'm the one writing it; in fact by the time you're reading this, I'll be finishing up the last duel of the tournament. But still, it's fun to pick someone and see if your guess is right. So get your bets in people, also for those of you living in the US, want to wish a quick Happy 4th of July.
