Chapter 73: Lady Luck

After a memorable experience with Mr. Keoni and getting to test his new battle simulation, the rest of the time spent in Horsolulu continued as planned. The group did their usual thing as they performed for Mr. Keoni's school as they wowed the kids and the sponsors with their amazing skills. Once it was over, Mr. Keoni thanked Celestia and Luna for helping him test out his battle simulator and for showing his students some mind blowing duels. With that their trip to Horsolulu was over faster than they realized. Right now they were currently back on their plane as they headed to their next destination. Celestia told the group that the Duos Cup was fast approaching as she ran down everybody's rank in terms of their win/loss record. As it stood, the person in the lead was Rainbow Dash who was ahead by 3 points, with Applejack in second place and Sunset rounding out third place. However, they were a little more than halfway through their trip so there was plenty of time for the standings to change.

Celestia was currently going over the next stop for them all and safe to say it was a city that caught everybody's attention.

"Las Pegasus!?!" they all shouted.

"The Entertainment Capital of the World, as well as the Gambling Capital of the World. Along with some other names." mentioned Isaac.

"I'm more interested in riding the Wild Blue Yonder." said Dash. "According to what Spitfire said, along with the other members of the soccer team, it's the coolest rollercoaster ever!!" Rainbow now had the biggest eyes as she began to describe the ride to her friends. "First, you strap yourself into the cloud rocket car, and then you're catapulted straight through a series of daring dips and terrifying turns, flipping upside-down so many times you don't know which way is up! 'Til finally you climb to the highest peak on the rails! Then drop towards the ground at lightning speed before coming up to a screeching halt! It's the coolest ride ever to exist!"

While Dash and a few others were excited for this trip, Applejack was a bit unsure about going. "No offense, Celestia. But Las Pegasus is a wild vacation spot! It's just one big party!"

"All those lights and sounds, not to mention the crowds... Oh, just the thought of it is overwhelming!" chimed in Fluttershy as she too was in the same boat as Aj.

"Don't worry Fluttershy, Applejack. Our main business will be to teach the students at the school." said Celestia as she did her best to calm the worries of both girls.

"Interesting," said Twilight. "It seems the hotel we'll be staying at, is also a casino."

"Alright!" said Isaac. "Now that I'm legally of age, I can try my hand Blackjack. A simple game that anybody can learn and possible win a couple of bucks." Isaac was now rubbing his hands together as he began to imagine all the money he could potentially win.

Twilight then smacked her boyfriend in the head. "Don't think you're going to do that! We're here on official business, not to lose our souls to the devil himself." said Twilight.

Despite Twilight hitting him in the head, Isaac couldn't help but to imagine. He saw himself in a dapper tuxedo as he was surrounded by waitress and big piles of poker chips. He also picture Twilight in a drop dead gorgeous dress as she was leaning on his arm as he was winning big. All of it brought a smile on his face as he was living the dream. Soon Twilight had a stern face as it was enough to reel him back into reality.

"Were you thinking about gambling!?" asked Twilight in a stern tone.

"Of course not." said Isaac as he shifted his eyes slightly to the left. "I was... just picturing you in Las Pegasus dress." Seemed Twilight wasn't fully buying what Isaac was selling. "Besides, it's not just the gambling that's caught my interest. Casinos are also some great places where duelists happen to appear."

Before Twilight could continue to lecture Isaac some more, Luna brought everyone's attention by clearing her throat. "If you're all done, let me explain some rules and regulations. We're going to be staying in the Sky Resort which is a popular destination for both tourists and duelists. The owner of the hotel was generous in letting us stay here for a lower price than usual, so we'd expect all of you to be on your best behavior. We don't want any trouble to arise that gets all of you into serious consequences. Is that understood?" said Luna with a booming voice.

Everybody just nodded as they understood Luna's threat/statement. With that it was but a few hours till they were landing in Las Pegasus. After they landed, they then got onto a bus as they were on their way to the resort.

"Welcome to Sin City!" said Isaac with a smile on his face, as he took off his sunglasses and took a deep breath of air.

"I appreciate it, if you didn't contribute to that name by saying that." said Twilight. "This city already has a reputation by the many legal/illegal things that's involved."

The bus ride from Las Pegasus International Airport went down the Strip, past all the mammoth hotels and mega resorts, including a six-hundred-fifty-million-dollar trip into fantasy, a massive black glass pyramid that would have made Somnambula feel right at home the emerald-green Maretro-Goldwhinnyn-Mareyer (MGM) Grand, its main building stretching the width of four football fields; a sex-charged rock club, a bright red volcano that spat lava into the sky after dark, and Manehattan if it had been reimagined by Dalton Whinny, with buxom cocktail waitresses instead of college kids in Wilhelm Wombat and Elmer Eagle costumes—the results of Las Pegasus being in an almost constant state of boom for the past four decades.

"This is it, everybody-- The Sky Resort," Celestia said as the bus screeched to a halt.

Isaac and the girls stared in awe at the huge, 31-story casino hotel. With its colossal water fountain, extravagant double doors and revolving doors, and flashy neon signs, the exterior alone was impressive. The group spilled out of the bus and retrieved their suitcases from the luggage hold. The hotel lobby’s main doors (a pair of tall, golden double doors) were flanked by a pair of doormen like two proud sentinels. Isaac peered through the windows and saw a multitude of people, everyone from a janitor mopping the floor to a young woman behind the front desk.

The interior of the resort was modern and stylish, decorated in the fashion of a tropical jungle; with palm trees, rainforest flora, rumbling brooks, and even the odd waterfall. The air seemed misty, unlike the dry desert air outside, and the entire place smelled authentic. A giant gold statue of the owner dominated the center of the lobby; a 53 foot by eight foot aquarium stretched behind the registration desk.

While everybody was admiring the place, Celestia then made her way to the registration deck as she checked in her and the entire group. A couple of bellhops came to get their bags as they loaded them onto a cart and carried some in their arms as they entered the elevator to drop off their bags in each person's room. With that the whole group made their way towards Celestia as the women telling her the way to enter their room.

"Now, in order to get to your rooms, you’ll have to take the gold elevators,” The women told them. “To get to them, you’re going to have to go through the casino, and veer to the left. Then take a right at the first palm tree. You’ll see the blackjack tables. Not baccarat, not craps, blackjack. Take another right and wind around left. If you get to the indoor pools, you’ve gone too far.”

“Gold elevators, through the casino, left, right at the first palm, past the blackjack tables, right again, and then left, pool, too far, got it!” Isaac replied.

The women smiled and said, “Enjoy your stay.”

With that they each grabbed their room keys as they all hopped into the elevator. They stopped on the 25th floor as they all had their rooms on the same floor. With that they all split up as each person entered their room. After about 20 minutes, Celestia and Luna needed to get in contact with their associates at the school; she also told the girls that she booked them to perform in a couple of nights. Isaac was currently stepping out of the elevator as he was in his signature outfit as he was meeting up with the girls.

Isaac’s stomach growled and he looked across the lobby for a place to eat. "Guess, I must be hungry." His eyes picked out two suitable targets. The first was the Sweet Snacks Café, which was a Rockin’ ‘50’s-themed diner that served burgers and milkshakes (complete with a soda fountain and waitresses in carhop uniforms). The other was an oriental restaurant that had an aquarium filled with many exotic fish, dubbed “X Sushi.”

While the girls were all up for trying the sushi place, Isaac, for one, couldn’t stand the thought of eating raw fish. Especially since the mercury that was used to kill any potential parasites in them was more than enough to make his stomach turn. Not to mention that he wasn't a big seafood fan, the only exception was fish. Still they couldn't figure out what they wanted to eat, so seeing as how they were in Las Pegasus, they did the one thing this city was known for.

Sunset reached into her pocket and said, “We’ll flip a coin. Heads you win and we’ll go to the diner. Tails you lose and we eat sushi.”

Isaac had played this game so many times that he knew how it worked. It was a form of sortition that inherently had only two possible (and equally likely) outcomes. There were only two ways the coin could land—heads or tails. And heads came up just as often as tails. So, half the time one party would win, and half the time the other party would win. The odds and chances were a solid 50/50, and a game of chance didn’t come much fairer than that. Unless, of course, the tosser used a two-headed coin.

Coin tossing was a simple practice of throwing a coin into the air and checking which side was showing when it landed, in order to choose between two alternatives, and sometimes used to resolve a dispute between two groups. In this case, it was where to eat: the café or the sushi bar. The diner or the restaurant. A well-done burger or uncooked seafood.

“Come on, Isaac,” Sunset said playfully. “Take a chance.” She gave Isaac the coin she planned to use and he looked at both sides of it to make sure that his friend wouldn’t cheat, and he handed it back to her.

“Okay,” he said.

Sunset flipped the coin into the air and it landed in her open palm.

“Tails it is,” she said.

Isaac sighed for a brief moment, but smiled, accepting his defeat with some grace, and escorted his friends to X Sushi. “First casino I’ve seen with a sushi bar in it,” he commented.

The group took their seats and looked at their menus. Isaac skimmed over various Nigiri and Sashimi platters. They had everything from Sake (Salmon) and Maguro (Tuna) to Ebi (Shrimp), Saba (Mackerel) to Unagi (Smoked Eel), and Ika (Squid) to Tako (Octopus). They also offered traditional sushi rolls from avocado to cucumber and asparagus, as well as the Califoalnia and the Fillydelphia. There was even a Las Pegasus roll!

So they placed their order as a waitress came to get their order. While all the girls knew what they wanted, Isaac didn't know what to get. So he just asked the waitress what she would recommend. She simply told him to try the Teriyaki. Soon their orders came Isaac just looked at his food with an unsure look; he eventually willed himself to take a bite and found it packed with tons of flavor. Not to mention that it was all fresh; the vegetables had been cooked in such a way that they were warm, but they retained their shape and still had a bit of crunch to them. To Isaac, there was nothing worse than vegetables that had been overcooked to the point that they were mush. And the sauce it was marinating in was actual Teriyaki sauce, made in-house, not something one bought at the store. The taste of ginger was strong. It was incredible, and Isaac ate every bite. After they finished their meals, they all began to wander around and see what the hotel had to offer.

Isaac and his friends made their way to the casino floor, it was densely packed, equal parts tourists wandering in from off the Strip and weekend warriors from Manehattan (some in suits and ties). Its atmosphere was luxurious and the décor was colorful. Huge crystal chandeliers hung from the cavernous ceiling. Gaming tables, widely spaced, were scattered around the huge room, slot machines fanned out on all sides. Poker games were in progress at three, a spirited game of Pedro at the fourth, a quiet game of whist at one isolated in the corner; and near the center of the room stood a Roulette table with a solid platinum Roulette wheel and half a dozen players watching the croupier as he dexterously set the ball clinking onto the spinning wheel’s cone.

"This place is amazing!" said Dash.

"Just look at all these people." said Sunset.

"To think this is what this city is known for, kind of depressing. People just betting their money, more importantly their lives. And for what? More money, or just the thrill of it." said Twilight as it pained her to think that people actually came to a place like Las Pegasus.

"Well, I know what I'm doing." said Isaac as he started making his way to a horseshoe-shaped table. The girls all followed him, especially Twilight who still didn't approve her boyfriend of taking part in such a scandalous societal norm.

There was two people, a prim, beautiful woman dressed in red, with high, platinum blonde hair and green eyes; and a tall, strongly built man, with green eyes, wearing an amber suit coat, a bolo tie and a white ten-gallon hat, were already seated at it. These two were big spenders, Isaac could tell. One thing that being from Chicoltgo, is that Isaac knew how to make a bet and when to gamble. It was some of the things he picked up on, on the streets from side hustlers and gangsters. He knew when to walk away and when to to make a fool of someone. But one thing that the streets really taught him was how to play card games, and not just Duel Monsters.

The man in the bolo tie and cowboy hat played smoothly; making small talk with the dealer, barely looking at his cards, and making some of the strangest plays Isaac had ever seen. He kept hitting like a madman, for the most part, taking as many cards as he could—even busting with four cards after hitting on a seventeen. He never celebrated when he won, and never complained when he lost. In fact, he didn’t seem that interested in the game at all. Isaac watched him and the lady in red for a few more minutes before he approached, taking note of the sign that said that the table’s minimum bet was ten dollars and the maximum was five thousand.

The dealer looked at Isaac and asked, “Try your luck, friend?”

Isaac shrugged and said, “Why not?”

"Isaac, I would advise against this." said Twilight as she was totally against her boyfriend from gambling, but he didn't listen. The rest of the girls just stayed behind Isaac as he prepared to play.

The cowboy turned to Isaac and smiled at him.

“You’re new around here, aren’t ya?” he asked.

“Yes,” Isaac answered.

"I see you're a duelist based on that duel disk on your arm." said the cowboy. “My name’s Bushel. Come on, sit down,”

Isaac looked at the nametag on the dealer. "So your name is Lucky Lucy?" Isaac addressed the dealer as he took the stool next to Bushel.

“Yes, I am Lucky Lucy,” she replied. “But most people refer to me by my nickname, 'Lady Luck'."

"Why's that?" asked Isaac.

"Let's say that I've got magic touch of sorts." said Lucy as she had a sly smile on her face. "How’s your stay been?”

"Just checked in, me and my friends here are visiting.” he said. “I’m Isaac, by the way.”

“It’s nice to meet you. Good luck,”

“Thank you,”

With that the game began. Blackjack, also known as 21 (the number which defined the object of the game), was the most widely played banking game in the world—a card game where the players played against the dealer rather than each other.
It was also the only card game where a smart player had a mathematical advantage over the house, which always had an edge at the table.

But that was the nature of the game—and it was no different than any other business. One didn’t open a theater and let people in for free. They were charged for admission, the entertainment. That’s what Las Pegasus did. And the house’s edge was like the price of the ticket. Whenever people sat down to play a game, or pull a lever, the casino was providing them with an entertainment service. They paid for that service by losing more than winning. But the house didn’t always have an edge (except with the cheaters and the card counters); card counters did not alter the natural outcome of the game, nor did proficient counters employ devices to help them beat the house. But Isaac was different. He knew how to get his entertainment for free—and then some.

Isaac knew how Blackjack was played. The dealer dealt each player two cards, they added them together and tried to get closest to twenty-one without going over. If a player wanted another card, they pointed to the table (or said “Hit me”); and if they wanted to stand, they waved their hand (or said “I’ll stay”).

The object of the game was to beat the dealer one of three ways: get 21 points on the first two cards, reach a final score higher than the dealer without going over 21, or let the dealer draw additional cards until their hand exceeded 21. And if the player hit twenty-one on their first two cards, the casino paid them one and a half times their bet.

The rules were fairly simple, as card games went; but the strategy was tricky, and Isaac was by no means an expert. The players went first, the dealer second. The dealer’s play depended on the casino, but usually they would hit until their cards added up to seventeen—or until they busted. If a player got pairs of the same card, they could split them and have two bets going on separate hands, and (depending on the casino) they could double their bet—double down—on the first two cards, taking a single card (a Face Card) in the hopes of beating the dealer for more money. That gave people a chance to increase their odds, but it also doubled the risk. The only proper time to split pairs was when the dealer’s hand would be weaker than each of the players’ two new hands.

Picture Cards, also known as Face Cards (Kings, Queens and Jacks), were worth ten points, while Aces were worth either one or eleven (depending on the rules of the house), and all the other cards (2-10) were worth their pip value.

“Run ‘em, Lucy,” Bushel said. “Make ‘em nice and friendly, ‘cause ain’t no bread in the house.”

“Place your bets,” Lucy told them.

The lady in red placed a single green chip, worth $25, on the betting circle; Bushel wagered two black chips, each worth $100; and Isaac bet one of the complimentary chips that the receptionist had given him at the front desk; a yellow chip worth $1,000.

"Gees, I know Isaac had balls. But that really is a gamble." said Dash.

"Hopefully, he ain't gonna regret that decision." exclaimed Applejack.

"This is what I was afraid of." said Twilight as she buried her face in her hands. She was worried that Isaac was going to make a dumb bet that would cost him money or something worst.

"Go big bro!" shouted Pinkie as she cheered Isaac on with pom-poms in her hands.

Lucy’s hands moved gracefully as she dealt each of them two cards face down, then two for herself. Then she flipped over one of her cards, revealing the Queen of Clubs.

Contrary to what many novices believed, the goal of blackjack was not to get the best hand possible; it was to beat the dealer’s hand. The key was to understand that the dealer’s advantage was based entirely on the fact that they drew after the players. The dealers were constrained by the house rules, which meant they were usually forced to hit until they either reached seventeen or busted. Therefore, the players’ strategy was to try to calculate what the dealer’s most likely hand was going to be, and then draw until their own hands were higher. If the dealer was most likely to bust (and they did about 28 percent of the time), the players simply needed to stand on any two cards over eleven.

The players’ calculations were based on what the dealer was showing. If the dealer had a strong card—like a ten or an ace (which Lucy did)—then the odds were high the dealer had a good hand and wouldn’t need to take a third card from the deck. That meant the players had to keep hitting until they had a strong hand for themselves. If the dealer showed a weak card—like a five or a six—they would most likely take that third card, and the players could usually stick with their first two cards. Therefore, the odds of busting were high, and it made sense to stand.

The lady in red looked at her cards. She had the Ten of Diamonds and the Five of Clubs. She paused, trying to decide whether to stand or take the next card.

“Now, Silver Waves, you’ve got fifteen and the dealer’s showing ten,” Bushel said to her.

“Do I hit, Bushel, or do I stand?” she asked.

“If you wanna win, you’ve gotta hit,”

Isaac was actually surprised that the cowboy was so quick to offer advice... and that the lady was so quick to ask for it. Then again, they were both playing against the house and (in a way) had a common foe in Lucky Lucy.

Lucy didn’t seem to mind.

“Hit me,” she told Lucy.

Lucy gave her another card: the King of Clubs. That put her at 25.

“Player busts,” Lucy said.

“Damn!” Silver Waves cursed.

Bushel looked at his cards: the Three of Spades and the Nine of Spades. He smiled at Lucy and said, “Hit me.”

She dealt him another card—the Nine of Clubs.

“Twenty-one,” Lucy said.

Isaac looked at his cards and said, “Hit me.”

The Three of Clubs.

“Hit me,”

The Two of Hearts.

“One more,”

“Boy, you’ve got brass!” Bushel stated. “Do you know what the odds are on a five-card Charlie? Tartarus, you’re just throwing your money away!”

“If the object of the game is to get a total of 21, I will definitely need another card,” Isaac replied. He looked at Lucy again and said, “Hit me.”

Lucy dealt him one more card—the Nine of Hearts—that, plus the previous two, put Isaac at fourteen. Then he revealed the first two cards Lucy had dealt him: the Two of Clubs and the Five of Hearts.

“Twenty-one,” Lucy said.

Even with the final Nine, the two Twos, the Three and the Five prevented Isaac from going bust.

“How’d you--?” Bushel began. “Well, shut my mouth!”

Lucy flipped over her second card, revealing the Nine of Diamonds.

“Dealer has nineteen. Good start,” she told them as she collected their cards and shuffled them back into the deck.

Isaac just shrugged his shoulders, "Beginner's luck."

"How did he do that?" asked Fluttershy in a soft voice as she addressed the girls.

"Maybe, he really did get lucky." suggested Rarity.

“Say, you’re not one of them card counters, are ya?” Bushel asked.

Lucy fumbled with the deck as she shuffled, but quickly recovered. She thought Bushel had directed the question at her, but she saw that he had been talking to Isaac.

“The number of the cards and their values remain quite constant,” he told Bushel. “What would be the purpose of counting them?”

Bushel and Silver Waves nodded before Isaac said, “Deal ‘em up.”

Lucy finished shuffling as they placed their bets. Silver Waves put down four greens chips ($100), Bushel wagered two black chips ($200) as he had before, and Isaac bet two yellow chips ($2,000).

Lucy dealt them each two cards, and then two for herself. Then she flipped over one of hers, and it showed the Queen of Spades.

Silver Waves had the Ten of Hearts and the Two of Diamonds. She needed Nine to make 21.

“Hit me,” she said.

Lucy dealt her the King of Clubs, putting her over at 22.

Bushel had the Six of Clubs and the Seven of Spades—Thirteen.

“Hit me,” he said.

Lucy dealt him the Six of Hearts. That put him at nineteen and he stayed.

Isaac looked at his cards, the Eight of Clubs and the Eight of Spades. He said, “Hit me”, and got the Five of Spades—Twenty-One.

Lucy flipped over her other card: the Jack of Spades. That put her at twenty. Everyone made the same bets again. Then Lucy dealt the cards and flipped over one of hers, showing the Ten of Spades.

Silver Waves glanced at her cards. She had the Queen of Diamonds and the Six of Spades (Sixteen), now she needed a Five to make 21.

“Hit me,” she said.

The Six of Diamonds—that put her at 22.

“Shoot!” she exclaimed.

Bushel looked at his cards, the King of Spades and the Five of Diamonds, and said, “Hit me.”

The Six of Clubs.

“Twenty-one,” Lucy said.

Isaac got the Ten of Hearts and the Five of Clubs. He hit twice, getting the Two of Diamonds and the Four of Spades—Twenty-one. Lucy turned over her second card, revealing the Ten of Diamonds—twenty again.

As Lucy changed decks, Isaac put all the chips/money he won and pushed it toward the dealer. "I was thinking of betting everything this time. Is that all right?” he asked.

Bushel and Silver Waves went dead silent while everyone else within 15 feet of the table gasped and crowded around them. Even the girls were stunned at what Isaac was suggesting.

"Everything?" someone asked.

“Big bet for a big man!” said another.

“What do you think that sign’s there for, to hold down the table?”

“How can he just--?” Silver Waves thought.

“I like your spirit,” Bushel told Isaac, “but don’t you think you’ve won enough already?”

Lucy opened her mouth to speak and the pit boss, a tall, thin, auburn-haired beauty approached the table. “Sure you don’t want to save a few bucks for the buffet?” she asked.

“I want to see how well I do against three hands,” Isaac replied.

“Whoa, dude! You’ve already established that you’re a risk-taker,” Bushel said, “but I didn’t think you’d live on the edge!”

“Oh?” Isaac replied.

The pit boss nodded to Lucy.

“Let him play,” she said.

“Another kid doing something stupid,” she thought. “This’ll be sweet.”

Silver Waves and Bushel decided to sit this one out. Isaac looked at his cards, being careful not to show them to anyone, and said, “I’ll stay.”

Lucy flipped over the second cards for her three hands.

Her first pair was the Nine of Clubs and the Ten of Diamonds.

Her second pair was the Queen of Hearts and the Jack of Spades.

And the third pair was the King of Clubs and the King of Diamonds.

A nineteen and two twenties.

Isaac smirked as he showed the King of Hearts and the Ace of Spades.

“Blackjack,” he said.

He won against all three of her hands.

“Boy, you are on fire!” Bushel exclaimed.

“He’s good,” one of the patrons said. “He is good.

“Are you a professional?” Silver Waves asked.

Isaac told them that he wasn’t, but they were beginning to suspect, at least from the way he played, that he was a serious gambler. No words could describe what the girls were seeing, even Twilight's brain went offline as she couldn't comprehend how her boyfriend was doing what he was doing. And she was the smart one of the group.

Isaac organized and restacked the pile of chips in front of him. He reached for them and shoved them toward Lucy.

Lucy had the Queen of Spades and the Ten of Hearts.

Isaac got the Jack of Spades and the Ace of Diamonds.

“Blackjack again,” he said. “I think I’ll cash out before you run out.”

“Is something wrong?” Lucy asked. “Don’t tell me you’re getting cold feet all of a sudden.”

“Not really,” Isaac replied. “In fact, it was just starting to get interesting.”

Even half of the money that Isaac had just won was more than enough to make any man’s hands tremble. Isaac paused. Then he took his seat again after a moment of thought.

“How would you feel about letting me play one more game?” he asked.

Silver Waves gasped and said, “No! Don’t do it!”

“What an idiot!” Lucy thought. “How much you want to bet?” she asked.

"I was thinking everything... as well as my duel deck." Isaac said with a smile.

“S-seriously?” Twilight asked. “That’s crazy!”

“Don’t tell me you’re getting cold feet all of a sudden,” Isaac echoed. “Then again, after losing to me that many times in a row, I don’t blame you.”

You stupid, arrogant, cocky, son of a bitch! Lucy cursed in her thoughts. How dare you underestimate me! Damn you, acting like this is nothing! Not that it matters. I’m going to win anyway!

After Lucy shuffled the deck, Isaac cut it with one hand. Silver Waves couldn’t help but whistle at Isaac’s skill and Bushel said, “Pretty smooth.”

What the Tartarus is he doing? Silver Waves thought. And yet, he’s so calm... How can he be so calm?

Lucy was wondering the same thing. How the Tartarus is he so calm? He doesn’t think he can actually beat me, does he? No! There’s no way! It’s impossible! He doesn’t know what cards I’m going to draw! There’s no way he can best me! I’m going to deal myself 20, then I’m going to win, and he’ll end up with no way to win it back! Lucy dealt the cards and flipped over one of her own: the Ten of Spades.

Isaac looked at his cards, the Three of Hearts and the Nine of Diamonds, and placed them, face down, on the table.

He looked at Lucy and smiled again.

Why I ought to-- she thought furiously.

“Hit me,” Isaac told her.

That’s it! Lucy thought. You are dead!!

And she dealt him another card: the King of Diamonds.

That, plus the Nine and the Three, put Isaac over at 22.

Lucy flipped over her second card, the Queen of Spades; that put her at 20. She smiled.

Isaac flipped his own cards over, revealing the Three of Hearts and the Eight of Diamonds. Those two, plus the King, put him at...

“Twenty-one,” he said. “Lucky me.” Isaac gave a wink at Lucy.

Lucy’s jaw dropped as Isaac swept up his winnings. He stuffed the chips into his pockets. Then he tossed Lucy a single red poker chip (worth only $5) as a tip as he walked away, and she crushed it between her fingers in anger.

“Well, I’ve already found one of the cheaters in this building,” he whispered to himself as he walked. “I’ll be sure to let the owners know,” Isaac then began to walk over till he meet the girls as they still had their jaws hanging down. "What!?" said Isaac in a nonchalant tone.

"I... you.. how..." Twilight couldn't put into words, what she had just witnessed. "I love you." said Twilight as that was the only sentence she could make.

Isaac just chuckled a bit as he gave her a quick kiss as they all began to leave, before they were stopped by someone. Isaac was now face to face with the bulky man who he noticed was standing next to the coat checkroom when he walked into the lobby; the resort’s head of security—Caramel.

“Don’t worry,” he told him. “I’ve been keeping my eye on Lucy ever since she started work. I always knew she was counting cards, I just couldn’t prove it... until now. Come on.”

Celestia and Luna sat on a couch, on the 31st floor of the resort, in the owner's office. It was a blue room raucous with old photographs and even older carny posters. He had told them to make themselves at home, which they did. He offered them coffee but they both politely refused. Celestia did, however, take a piece of cake; she never turned down sweets. Luna just rolled her eyes at her sister's obsession and made sure to tease her about how it was affecting her 'flank'.

Lucky Clover, the owner, stood tall, and everything he did from the way he moved to how he spoke seemed to charm and confuse people, dazzle and disorient. His vest was blue with white stripes, his hair brownish, his eyes the color of pistachios, his skin light olive, and he smiled both big and wide.

“How are you enjoying our resort?” Clover asked.

“Everything is splendid as usual,” Celestia replied.

“Glad to hear it,” said Clover. “I hope you continue to enjoy yourself."

“I always do,” Celestia said.

“And don’t worry,” Clover reassured her. “My staff and I will take care of your students and make sure they have everything they need. Everything within reason, that is,” added Clover. There was a knock at the door and Clover called out, “Come in!”

It was Caramel, flanked by Isaac and the girls.

"Ahh, Isaac, girls, this is Lucky Clover. He's the owner of this resort." Celestia introduced their host.

“Nice to meet you,” Isaac said cordially.

“Pleasure to meet all of you." Clover returned the friendly gesture. "I see you’ve already become acquainted with some of our employees,” Clover observed.

“Oh, yes,” Isaac replied, smiling.

Caramel then stepped forward, "I’m also here to report that I can confirm that our star dealer has been cheating at cards,” Caramel added. “And you have this guy to thank."

“I know,” Clover replied. He motioned to a wall of security monitors behind his desk, next to the colossal window overlooking the city. Footage of Isaac and Lucy at the Blackjack table appeared on the largest screen. “That was quite the display,” Clover added. “No one has ever been able to beat Lucky Lucy at Blackjack. No one except me, of course. She doesn’t let anyone win that she doesn’t want to,” Clover went on. “You’re not on any list, and we don’t have your picture in our card counter file.”

Isaac exhaled unsurprised.

"You should seen, our buddy." said Dash as she threw her arm over Isaac. "He practically hustled her."

"I thought you just good at Duel Monsters," said Applejack. "Turns out you're just good at card games in general."

"I agree, darling. The way you just stayed calm and collected under pressure. Most people who crack or fold in your position." stated Rarity.

"Well, it's important to not only have book smarts, but street smarts as well. One of the life lessons I learned growing up in Chicoltgo. Plus, it's important to make sure that when you're gambling, you keep your eyes low. Don't let them see exactly what you're thinking. It's all about having a good poker face." said Isaac as the girls remembered how Isaac had used his cap to dip it lower when he was betting against Lucy to avoid her reading his thoughts. "As for counting card, I don't do that. Card counting is time-consuming, and it takes nearly 18 hours to show a profit. And those who do count cards end up losing more than those who don’t. It takes discipline, dedication, and good math skills. I calculate odds. I view the table and remember past hands and combinations and use that to determine my wager. When the odds are too high I simply sit out a hand. I just use my head to take advantage of an opportunity. I also can’t stand people who refuse to let others win just to fill their own ego/pride.”

“I can vouch for that,” Celestia confirmed. “And from your description of her, Miss Lucy seems to fall into that category.”

Lucky Clover was fairly sure that was as innocent, and honest, of an answer as he was going to get, so he didn’t press it any further. Clover did, however, say, “Miss Lucy can be ruthless at times, but that doesn’t change the fact that she is our most valuable employee. In her eyes, she considers you an enemy."

Isaac didn’t like what he was hearing. He wasn’t easily intimidated, and he hated being bullied by thugs. But he kept his mouth shut.

“Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Caramel,” said Clover. “We will continue to monitor Lucy’s dealings. If this happens again, we will take drastic action. And Isaac,” Clover added, “if Miss Lucy gives you any trouble, tell us and we will get her to back off. But be careful,” he warned. “From now on, we’re keeping our eye on you too.”

Isaac nodded.

"Don't worry about, Isaac." said Sunset as she placed her hand on his shoulder. "He knows not to do something that will get all of us in danger."

"If there is nothing else, Caramel, make sure that our guests enjoy themselves." said Lucky Clover as his head of security just nodded his head.

“Thank you,” Luna said as she, Celestia, Isaac, and the girls left.

After the doors closed behind them, Lucky Clover returned his attention to the wall of monitors and zoomed in on the footage of Isaac. As Isaac cut the deck one-handed on the last game, one of the cards slipped down his sleeve before he handed them back to Lucy. Then, when his hand was still covering his cards (when he placed them back on the table), he subtly swapped one of them out for the one that was up his sleeve. “The hand is quicker than the eye,” Clover quoted.

It was now nighttime as the Sky Resort was in full swing. Compared to how it was during the day, the environment was now turned into full gear. There was even more casino games happening, the sound of slot machines clanged, there was even tons of show girls putting on a show for the men. As for our group, they were currently keeping themselves busy by playing a couple of casino games, well except Twilight. Seems all the money that Isaac won earlier, he was able to give each of his friends a good portion of it and it wasn't even half of what he won. Twilight still didn't like the idea that they were gambling, but thankfully there was a couple of duels that were taking place as it eased her mind a bit.

All the girls had decided to dress up for the evening, courtesy of Rarity. Sunset wore a strapless, backless magenta evening dress slit up her right leg to the top of her thigh, with long, over the elbow purple silk gloves. Applejack wore a strapless emerald green dress with open-toed white heels and her blonde hair was done up away from her face. Rainbow Dash wore a light blue toga-like gown, Fluttershy wore a strapless yellow ball gown with a big skirt and petticoats, Rarity wore a simple, form-fitting indigo dress, and Pinkie (in pink) was adding more feathers to Rarity’s ensemble. And Twilight she was in a purple dress.

As for Isaac, he was currently in a different outfit. Since the morning, Lucky Clover couldn't find Lucy as he was in desperate need for a main dealer. So he turned towards the one person who he didn't expect; he had asked Isaac if he could possibly fill in for the position. Clover thought that based on Isaac's skill during his Blackjack game with Lucy, he seemed to know the basis of what he was doing. Isaac was a bit hesitant at first, but after some begging which made Clover look really pitiful, he agreed to it. So Isaac was now working the casino floor as he was now the temporary head dealer in Blackjack. Isaac was wearing a buttoned up emerald green vest with a bold design – the four card suits: red hearts and diamonds with black spades and clubs – and knotting an even darker green tie around his neck. He was also wearing white gloves as well as a green visor on his head.

Despite not partaking in any gambling, she did admit that Isaac's attire kind made him look hot. The first moment she saw Isaac all dressed up, she immediately blushed red and she so badly wanted to kiss him really intimately. Despite that, Isaac thought he looked dapper as hell as he made his way to the casino floor and went to work. The first few games were calm as Isaac was winning most of the games, adding a bit more cash to the small fortune that he had acquired. Regardless, Isaac made sure that the hands he dealt were fair and he even helped some people win some money. He just merely told them that he brought good luck, which proved correct based on how many people were satisficed with their bets either breaking even or making slight a bit more than what they started. Nevertheless, they gave Isaac a decent size tip as they thanked him for being a good lucky charm and a masterful dealer.

Tonight was also a big night for Lucky Clover as he was unveiling a new item to display. "Good evening, ladies and gentleman. I hope you're all enjoying yourself. Tonight promises to be an momentous occasion. For I, Lucky Clover, have purchased a fine set of valuable new artworks. In addition, I've also managed to gain possession of a rare card. A card that is said to bring good luck, so I figured why not have something like this so that everybody in my casino can have nothing but good fortune." Everybody clapped at Clover's statement. "So without further ado, I give you my newly purchased collection." Clover pulled down the sheet as he unveiled the new things on the stage but under the sheet was nothing. Even the glass case that held his special card was gone.

"What's going? Who's behind this?" shouted Clover.

"Ha. Ha. Ha." chuckled a voice.

Soon the lights turned off as a single spotlight appeared and shined down on the person who was hanging out in the rafters. The light then showed off a person and that person was none other than Lucky Lucy. "Looking for something, Lucky Clover? Perhaps, a certain card?" Lucy then held her fingers up as between them she was holding a Duel Monsters card. "Don't worry, I promise to take good care of this card and your priceless artworks. In fact, I'm already starting to feel lucky."

Soon the security busted in as they surrounded Lucy. "Don't move, we've got you trapped." shouted Caramel.

"On the contrary gentleman, it's you whose trapped." said Lucy. She then lift the card up as it created a blindly light that caused everybody to cover their eyes. Lucy then grabbed some diced that manifested as she threw them and they rolled up a six as it caused all the guards to be flung back. The rumors about this card were true. She then hopped down from the ceiling as she made her way through the front door where more guards were blocking her.

She held the card up again once more, as she threw another dice and it landed on a six which created a smokescreen as it allowed her to slip by with ease. Just as the cops appeared, Lucy threw one more die and the result was the same as before as she caused the overhead sign to fall on the cars as it allowed her to make her escape.

"Somebody stop her!" shouted Lucky Clover as he had his security guards and the local police began work on tracking Lucy.

Isaac and the rest of the girls quietly sneak their way out of the casino as they were now conversing in the hallway. "Did any of you girls see that?" asked Isaac.

"I'll say, it was a doozy." exclaimed Pinkie with a smile on her face.

"But did you see what Lucy just did?" asked Rarity.

"Right, she stole some card along with some artwork. And then she just ran off, no doubt she has some plans." stated Sunset.

"So what do we do?" asked Fluttershy.

"What do you think, we go after her." suggested Isaac. "We can't just let Lucy terrorize the city, we have to put a stop to her."

"That's fine and dandy, sugarcube. But where would we even begin, for all we know, she could be on the other side of the city by now." stated Applejack.

"I wouldn't be too sure." said Twilight. "I just hacked into the police's feed and they've pinpointed Lucy's location." Twilight was using her laptop as she was doing a bit of tech work, she knew Isaac was going to suggest this, so she went right ahead and got a head start. Soon she had her target, "She's headed toward the docks and is currently on board the D-Line Monorail."

"Great then that's where we're headed." said Isaac as he and the girls were about to leave.

"Wait, a minute guys. There's something you should know." All of the them stopped as they turned to hear what Twilight had to say, "The card that Lucy stole was none other than Number 7: Lucky Straight. It's an Xyz card; everyone who's ever had that card has been blessed with a sudden streak of crazy luck. In the past, that cards has turned people into overnight celebrities and millionaires."

"That's nuts!" stated Dash.

"It explains why, while Lucy was escaping, she rolled some dice. The first die she threw all landed on six, the odds of rolling six on three dice at the same time are one in 216. The next one she rolled also landed on a six, the odds of rolling that many sixes in a row are 1296 to one. And then her final die, also landed on a six. Overall the odds she was facing were 7776 to one!" exclaimed Twilight.

"We get it! That card is super lucky." stated Dash.

"Good thing we don't need to rely on luck. Now come one, we've got a thief to catch." said Isaac as he led the girls in search of the Lucy. They didn't have time to change out of their outfits apart from Isaac who threw off his green visor and put back on his signature cap.

The group had split up as Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie, and Rarity were to inform the police about where Lucy was headed in hopes of cutting her off. Meanwhile, Isaac, Twilight, Dash, and Sunset would get on the train and try to apprehend Lucy.

Lucy was currently surrounded by tons of police as she was in between the doors of the monorail. Soon radios were called in by an officer. "Lieutenant! We've stopped the monorail and evacuated all passengers/personnel. The suspect is surrounded. Get down on your knees, Lucy!" shouted the officer.

"Man, you guys just don't give up, do ya? Did your bosses not give you the memo about what this card can do?" said Lucy as she showed the card to the armored police. At that same time, Isaac and his team had jumped over the barricade as they were closing in on Lucy's position.

Lucy then held the card up high as it created a blinding light that caused all the police to fall on their bottoms as it caused the monorail to reactivate. "No hard feelings boys, but I've really got somewhere I need to be." said Lucy as she hopped into the train as it closed its doors. Unbeknownst to them all, while Lucy was talking, Isaac and Twilight had managed to make it in the train through another door as it closed behind them leaving Sunset and Dash behind. Soon it started to move, as they watched their friends ride off.

"Suspect is moving through downtown." said the officer.

Lucy was so proud of herself for pulling off such a easy escape that she didn't notice Isaac and Twilight behind her until Isaac made his presence known.

"Sunset, I've got her!" said Isaac as he was communicate to her with his duel disk.

"Huh?" said Lucy as she turned around to see the couple.

"We're on the D-Line Monorail! Currently heading downtown, see if you can find someway to shut this thing down on your end." said Isaac.

"You've got it Isaac." stated Sunset as she and Dash then began to find the central control.

"So you found me?" Lucy had a smile on her face, "A little quicker than I thought you would."

"You have something that doesn't belong to you, return it at once."

"Heh, heh, heh. Direct and to the point." chuckled Lucy. "Well as it happens, I've jammed this monorail so it can't be stopped by the control center. And I'm afraid our destination is all the way on the other side of the city. So uh, what do you say we pass the time with a duel?" suggested Lucy.

"A duel?" said Twilight.

"This will allow me the perfect opportunity for me to make you pay for make a mockery out of me. You embarrassed me at my own game, so I figured I'd return the favor." said Lucy. "And if you manage to win, then I'll give this card back."

"All right. Let's do it." Isaac then slotted on his duel disk as he activated it to project a gold card tray. "Prepare yourself, Lucy. It's time to duel!" Soon Isaac and Lucy found themselves on top of the train as it would serve as the battlefield for their duel.

"It's payback time." said Lucy as she activated her duel disk.

"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel." said their duel disks.

Lucy's Life Points: 8000-

Isaac's Life Points: 8000-

"Be careful, Isaac." shouted Twilight as she had her head peaking out of the rooftop entrance as she held on with the wind in her face.

"Let's duel." shouted both of them.

"Is this the best time to be doing this?" said Twilight as she felt the train jump a bit.

"Lucy took something that doesn't belong to her and she needs to give it back." responded Isaac.

"That's nice and all, but if this monorail can't be stopped, then who's supposed to hit the brakes?" asked Twilight.

"Who's suppose to hit the... brakes?" Isaac finally registered what his girl was saying as the train turned a corner as he held on to keep himself from falling off. "Somebody help me!" Isaac soon fell on his bottom as the train rounded the turn.

"Don't be scared, Isaac! Nothing bad will happen. Luck is gonna protect us. So let's get this duel started!" stated Lucy.

Turn 1: Isaac

"First move's mine!" said Isaac as he drew his card. "I place a monster in defense mode! Then I end my turn with a facedown!"

Turn 2: Lucy

"My turn, I draw." Lucy had a smile on her face as she looked at her card. "I activate the Take A Chance spell card! Pass me the dice. Cause Take A Chance allows me to roll a dice once per turn and if it comes up a six? My current life points are multiplied by five! Any other number, and my life points return to where they were before I activated the spell."

"Heh, well, it's not like it's easy to roll a six or anything." stated Isaac.

"Don't forget that he rolled a six five times in a row during her escape. The odds of rolling six sixes in a row are 46,656 to one." stated Twilight.

"Watch closely."

"No way you'll get it!" shouted Isaac he didn't believe Lucy.

Lucy then threw her die up into the air and for a moment the #7 used its powers to manipulate the result as the die landed on a six.

"Another six!" Isaac was in disbelief as what he just witnessed. "How is that possible?"

"Suddenly I've got 40,000 life points!" said Lucy as he life point counter went up. Isaac was gritting his teeth as Lucy pointed to him while saying something. "As long as the sun that shines, stays complete, I never have to fear defeat."
Lucy's Life Points: 40,000-

"Do what? The sun already went down, hours ago!" Isaac was confused by what Lucy was saying.

"And yet my incredible lucky streak continues." confirmed Lucy.

"I know I've heard that saying, but where?" said Twilight to herself as what Lucy just said caused her mind to think.

"I now summon Majestic Jester(0/0). Majestic Jester, take out his facedown monster!" commanded Lucy.

"But Majestic Jester doesn't have any attack points!" mentioned Isaac.

"Go Dark Pantomime!" Majestic Jester fired a powerful attack towards Isaac's monster as it flipped faceup.

"Gamma's got 1800 defense points! So you're the one who's taking damage!"

"Not necessarily." Just then a die appeared in Lucy's hand. "Majestic Jester's ability activates."

"You gotta be kidding!" shouted Isaac as he saw what she was about to do.

"Luck's gonna decided if I take damage or not. If I roll a six while Majestic Jester is attacking, your monster is instantly destroyed. Any other number comes up, and this clown is goin' down."

"The odds of that happening are 279,936 to one." stated Twilight.

"Twilight, I love you. But enough with the statistics!" exclaimed Isaac.

"Let's roll." Lucy then tossed her die high into the air. Just like the other times, the die happened to land on a six.

"Implausible." said Twilight.

"Aw, come on!" shouted Isaac as he couldn't believe it.

"Alright! Gamma the Magnet Warrior is done for!" Majestic Jester then tossed the die it was standing on as it was sent flying and collided with Gamma as it was destroyed. "I toss one card facedown and end my turn!"

Turn 3: Isaac

Just as Lucy ended her turn, the train rounded another turn as it caused Isaac and Twilight to hold on for second so that they wouldn't go flying off.

"Isaac, hurry! This train is out of control!" shouted Twilight.

"Don't worry about that. Worry about the fact that you have no chance of winning." grinned Lucy with her hand on her hip.

"My turn." Isaac then drew his card. I summon Big Shield Gardna in defense mode. This is the part where I try my luck! I activate the Monster Slots spell card!" A giant slot machine that had the face of a monster now appeared on Isaac's field as the lever was pulled. "With this card, I banish a monster in my graveyard that's the same level as Big Shield Gardna!" The first slot showed Big Shield Gardna with the second slot showing Gamma. "And then I can draw a new card from my deck. If it's a monster that has the same level as the other two monsters, I can summon it to my field! But if it's not, then the card I drew and my Big Shield Gardna will be banished. If this works, I can be able to turn this duel into my favor."

"But it's not gonna work. Fortune is favoring me right now, which means you're outta luck." stated Lucy as she wasn't worried.

"We'll see about that! Okay here we go, I draw!" Isaac drew his card and the last slot started to slow down and it looked like it was going to stop on Queen's Knight, but then it changed to show his Giant Solider of Stone. Sure enough that was the card that was in Isaac's hand. "Aaagh! Seriously? So much for those cards." said Isaac as both of his cards were now banished.

"Sorry, Isaac! I'm afraid Lady Luck is on my side! Quite fitting, don't you think." said Lucy as she reminded everybody of her nickname.

"Well... I end my turn." Isaac was gritting his teeth as how his turn failed him.

Turn 4: Lucy

"Don't you get it, Isaac? If luck isn't on your side, everything else goes out the window. I'll say this Isaac, I admire you. You've got it all. Courage, intelligence, charism, passion... I could tell all that from how you played Blackjack."

"So?" asked Isaac.

"What I'm trying to say is that sometimes you come to a point where it all comes down to one thing. Good luck. And if luck isn't on your side, then there's nothing you can do." said Lucy as she was remembering her upbringing. "And now it's my turn... I draw! Time to play Take A Chance again! If I roll a six, my life points get multiplied by five!" Lucy then grabbed the die and tossed it high into the air.

"Come on, two or something!" said Isaac.

Sure enough the die landed on the same number as before.

"Six again?"

"How is that possible?" stated Twilight as it clearly defined all logic.

"Fortune favors the bold." Lucy now had a smile on her face as her life points total went up even higher.
Lucy's Life Points: 200,000-

"This is crazy! There's nothing I can do to defeat her?" shouted Isaac.

"And now, by activating the Release Change spell, I can toss a monster off my field. Then summon a monster with the same level to take its place. Say goodbye to Majestic Jester, and then say hello to Dice Leveler(100/100)!" Out came a monster that had giant hands that were separated from its body. "Next, I activate the Monster Slots spell card."

"Hey, that's the same card Isaac just played!" stated Twilight.

"That's right. But somehow I think things are gonna end differently for me." With that the monster machine slot then began to spin. "First, I select level 1 Dice Leveler! And then I banish level 1 Majestic Jester from my graveyard! Now, if the card I draw is a level 1 monster, then I can place that monster on my field." Lucy drew her card and sure enough it was another Dice Leveler as its picture showed in the final slot. "There we go! It's Dice Leveler!"

"Two of em?" mentioned Isaac.

"Actually, I'm gonna make this a perfect triple jackpot. I summon a third Dice Leveler!" Now Lucy had three monsters on her field. "And now I roll the dice and Dice Leveler's level increases by the number I roll." Three dices then appeared in her hand as she tossed them. "Come on, all sixes!"

"The odds of him rolling three more sixes are 362 million, 700..."

"I don't wanna hear it anymore!" said Isaac as he put his hands up to his ear to avoid listening to Twilight's statistics.

"What do we got?" Sure enough all the dice landed on six. "Yeah!"

"Come on! This isn't happening, I don't believe it." Isaac was now on the floor on his knees in disbelief.

"Believe it! All three of my monsters become level 7's! And now I'm just gonna overlay my Dice Levelers and build myself a little Overlay Network!" Soon all three monsters then transformed into orbs of light as they combined into one as they entered the vortex. "I Xyz Summon Number 7: Lucky Straight(700/700, OLU: 3)!"

"There it is!" shouted Twilight as they finally saw the card that Lucy stole.

"Now what?" asked Isaac.

"What do you mean, 'now what?' Now you lose. As long as the sun stays complete, I never have to fear defeat."

"That saying again? What does it mean?" Just then Twilight's duel disk flashed as she was receiving a call from Sunset.

"Twilight!"

"Sunset?"

"Stay calm and listen. That monorail you guys are on is gonna reach the final station in about five minutes." mentioned Sunset.

"What? That doesn't leave much time." Twilight now had a worried look on her face.

"Don't worry. Me and Dash are about to reach the center control, the rest of the girls have already informed the police where you guys are headed. Just hang tight." With that the transmission was shut off.

"Isaac! The end of the line is coming up!"

"What?"

"Don't worry. My good luck will make sure we stop safe and sound. I'd be more worried by the fact that I can cash in an overlay unit and multiply Lucky Straight's attack points by whatever number I roll. Come on, be good to me." Lucky Straight then tossed up his personal coin as it morphed into a giant hand that tossed a huge die. It worked its power and the number it landed on was a six. "Alright. Normally, Lucky Straight's got 700 attack points, but when multiplied by six, we're talkin' 4200!"

"How can I stop that?" asked Isaac as he watched Lucy's monster power up.

"Lucky Straight, attack Isaac directly! Go Hand Slam!"

"I activate the Nitwit Outwit trap card! This trap allows me to send one monster card in my hand to the graveyard in order to lower the damage I take by that monster's attack points. You're up, Breaker! Time to take one for the team!" With that the spirit of Isaac's Breaker the Magical Warrior appeared as he lowed Lucky Straight's attack points. The attack still sent Isaac flying as he landed on his back but thankfully didn't fall off.
Isaac's Life Points: 5400-

"Isaac!" shouted Twilight as she was concerned for her boyfriend's safety.

"A well-timed trap card. Not bad. You bought yourself another turn." Lucy then ended her turn.

Soon both Isaac's and Twilight's duel disk flashed as they were receiving a call.

"Hey you guys need to wrap this up soon! Isaac you're facing the Lucky Straight card she took, right? There's a saying that goes with that card: As long as the sun that shines stays complete, I never have to fear defeat." mentioned Sunset.

"Okay, but what does that mean?" asked Isaac.

"I searched the datanet, but I couldn't find any answers." stated Twilight. "While we we're pinpointing Lucy's location, I remember reading about that saying. But I couldn't figure out what it meant."

"It's just a little saying, you know, for good luck. As long as the sun that shines stays complete, I never have to fear defeat!" recited Lucy. "It doesn't mean anything, it's just a figure of speech. You can go ahead and give up now. Don't think anyone would blame you."

Turn 5: Isaac

"That's nice of you to say. Thing is, there's no way I'm giving up! It's my turn!" Isaac drew his card. "Now I'll play the spell card Ancient Rule, so now I can summon my Dark Magician from my hand. " Isaac now had his most powerful monster on the field. "Now Dark Magician attack Lucky Straight!"

"I activate a trap. Dice Crisis!" A die that appeared in Lucy's hand, "If I roll a six, one of your monsters loses all of its attack points and I take control of it." She then threw her die into the air.

"Let's see a three.... or something." said Isaac.

"Anything but six." pleaded Twilight as she put her hands together praying that it wouldn't be that. However, it wasn't to be as it landed on a six.

"Would ya' look at that. Another six!" Soon the die shot out a beam of red energy as it surrounded Isaac's Dark Magician as it drained him of his points and then went to Lucy's side. "Dark Magician is mine." chuckled Lucy.

"This is bad. I place two cards facedown and end my turn."

Turn 6: Lucy

Lucy then looked past Isaac as she saw her destination fast approaching. "Last stop coming up. Let's end this duel. You can't win, Isaac. Sometimes you just have to know when to walk away."

"That's not gonna happen! See here's the thing Lucy: I'd rather lose relying on my skills as a duelist than win relying on luck. Win or lose, I'll see this through to the end! And the end is gonna be me winnin'!" shouted Isaac.

"I get it. You got spirit, I'll give you that. But it's my turn now!" Lucy was about to draw her card.

"Not so fast, first I activate a trap! Sorcery Undertaking! I can use this when there's a Dark-attribute monster on the field, then during your Draw Phase, you reveal the card. Depending if it's a spell/trap, I can either discard that card or chose to destroy another spell/trap card." stated Isaac. "Now draw your card!"

"I see. You're hoping to get rid of Dice Crisis." chuckled Lucy. You want your magician back."

"Draw the card, Lucy." said Isaac with a bit more anger in his voice.

Lucy did just that. "I drew a little beauty known as Sun Scale." She then showed her card to Isaac as the picture of the sun appeared on her field as it shined bright. "With this card in play, once a turn, if I roll a six, I can obliterate every monster on your field. And I mean let's face it Isaac, with the way things have been going, we both know that I'm gonna roll a six."

Isaac had to put his hand up to protect himself from being blinded by the sun's rays. Dammit, that sun sure is bright. Wait... sun... sever the sun. Soon a lightbulb went off in Isaac's head. "That's it. It's a sun!"

"No way! That's just an expression, though. It won't do anything." said Lucy as she stuttered her words.

"You sound like you're not too sure about that. Let's find out what happens. With the power of the Sorcery Undertaking trap, I'm destroying Sun Scale."

"There's no way..." Lucy was now full blown worried. With that, Isaac's trap then fired a power beam that had Dark Magician use his staff as he fired a power spell that caused the sun to be split into a million pieces.

"He did it. Isaac managed to sever the sun." said Twilight as she had also figured out Isaac's plan.

With the sun now destroyed, the number card then lost all of its luster as its power faded away. Lucy could see that the luck that she was given was also gone as it escaped from her body. "Wait, no! Don't leave me now!" Soon all the power that Lucy received had disappeared. Did that just break my lucky streak? "You're finished, Isaac! Since Sun Scale was destroyed, you take 500 points of damage." shouted angrily Lucy as flames of the sun blasted Isaac.
Isaac's Life Points: 4900

"And now to follow that up, I'm using Take A Chance's effect. You know what happens if I roll a six. My life points are once again multiplied by five!" Lucy then had a die appeared in her hand as she tossed it into the air. This time however, luck wasn't on her side as the die landed on a one. "One? Noooo!" With that the die then sent a beam of energy towards Lucy as it returned her life points back to normal. "Unbelievable. I guess my luck seems to have run out. I end my turn." said Lucy as she put her head down.
Lucy's Life Points: 8000-

Turn 7: Isaac

"Let's do this!" Isaac then drew his card as he had a smile on his face. "I activate the Come Back spell card. This allows me to get my monster back from your field!" With that Dark Magician then switched sides as he was now standing back with Isaac. "Good to have you back, Mahad. Now I'll also play Card of Sanctity. Now we each draw till we're holding six cards in our hands."

"Oh man, just my luck." said Lucy with fear in her voice.

"Next, I'll play Bond Between Teacher and Student. So now I can also play my Dark Magician Girl. Next up, I'll play the spell Dark Magic Twin Burst. So now Dark Magician Girl raises the stats of my Dark Magician by her points. Lastly, I reveal my final facedown, Dark Burning Magic. So now since Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl are on my field, I can destroy all cards your field." Dark Magician then felt the powerup as he was surrounded by energy. "Now my magicians, finish this duel! Double Dark Magic Attack!" shouted Isaac as his two monsters then combined their power and took out Lucy's monster and the rest of her life points as she was flung back.
Lucy's Life Points: 0-

Winner: Isaac

"Alright! I won!"

"Isaac! The station!" shouted Twilight.

"We're not gonna stop in time!" shouted Isaac.

Sunset and Dash had found the central control and were working with the railroad operators as they were trying to figure out a way for the train to stop.

"Hurry up!" shouted Dash.

"I'm trying miss, but the system is not letting me." said the engineer.

"We've got to do something! Our friends are gonna get hurt!" screamed Sunset.

"What do we do, Isaac?" screamed Twilight as the train wasn't showing any signs of slowing down.

Isaac didn't know what to do; then out of the corner of his eye, he saw the number card. He then picked it up and looked at it. "Let's see if this thing really does give good luck. Give us hand!" shouted Isaac as he held the card up in the air as a yellow light came out from it as it heard Isaac's call. Lucky Straight then appeared as it used its giant hand to push against the train as the auto brake was starting to come back online.

"The system is functioning, the auto brake is now back online." said the engineer as he pushed the code in to help slow down the train.

Soon the auto brake was in full operation as the train was starting to slow down. It then stopped right as the last station came into view where police as well as the girls minus Sunset and Rainbow were waiting for them.

"You guys okay?" asked Applejack.

Isaac wiped his forehead while Twilight just let out a sigh. "We're fine Aj, let's just say that luck was on our side." Isaac was smiling as he looked at the number card in his hand.
