Chapter 168: Frenemies

It was now the last day of the week as today was the final time the students and the group would be at this training place. Over the course of the days, the students had been hard at work, not just in terms of dueling but also physically training. Isaac believed that the students needed to train their stamina and body to fully understand getting their minds and the pressure of being in a duel. All week long, Isaac and the girls had done some exercising themselves as they encountered some hurdles along the way with the students and did their best to help them. For Isaac he was in his temporary room as he was on the phone with an important call.

The students had gotten used to Isaac's training exercises that it had gotten easier overtime. Now their final day, they weren't doing any routines as they were just waiting in the training room. Soon the door opened as in came their tutors along with Spike and Tigre, but still no Isaac.

"Any word, from Teach?" asked Penny.

"We thought y'all would have some." spoke Aj.

"You're his friends, shouldn't he tell you guys that stuff." stated Shadow.

"Well the geek didn't respond to our texts this morning." said Rainbow.

"No offense, but even I was looking forward to doing some exercises." said Bryant.

"I'm sure Isaac will be along very soon." informed Fluttershy.

Just then the door to the room opened up as in walked Isaac.

"You're all here, good." spoke the boy. "Now then, I hope you all have enjoyed our little stay here. I hope this has at least helped you all to get a better understanding on what it takes to reach the next level of your training."

"Depends on what you mean, boy toy." spoke Sunset.

"First, I want to say thank you to you all." Isaac was pointed at the students. "You've done well despite the conditions you were put under in a short amount of time. Understand that while I may have been rough at times, know that I cared about you all. I wanted to push you guys past your standard barriers. And the girls, you all did a good job helping to supervise them." Everybody smiled and gave high fives to each other. "Now, as you know, tonight we'll be heading on the plane back home. What a week it's been here, I'm grateful that my acquittances allowed me to use this place."

"Who are they?" asked Lucky Star as everybody wanted to know just who Isaac was referring to when he said his 'acquittances'.

"It's doesn't matter." Isaac brushed off the question, "The point is, you did well. So I'd figured why not have a little fun before our time here is over. So I came up with a small challenge for the students, you'll be taking part in some one-on-one duels."

"Yes, I call Sunset!" shouted Penny as she wanted to duel against her tutor.

"Calm yourself, guys. The girls aren't going to be your opponents." said Isaac.

"Then who is?!" asked Rainbow.

"Who do you think, Dunce?!" shouted a voice.

"No... it can't be..." Rainbow heard the voice and she immediately knew who it belonged to. She and the girls all turned around and standing there were five individuals.

"Been a long time, Crash." spoke Indigo Zap as she was flanked by her fellow Shadowbolts as they were dressed in their Crystal Prep attire.

"You!" said Rainbow as she gritted her teeth as seeing Indigo.

"Country girl." spoke Sugarcoat.

"Sugar." responded AJ as she adjusted her hat.

"Dreadful this place." said Sunny Flare.

"Well, a diva like you would have that mindset." snickered Rarity.

"Aw, the whole gang is here." said Sour Sweet with a smile on her face before changing her tone, "Makes me sick of all this positivity."

"We're sorry for that." spoke Fluttershy in a soft voice.

"Party time!!" shouted Pinkie and Lemon Zest as they began to rock out as their friends were glaring at each other.

"Easy up, no need to get physically." said Isaac as he got in between Rainbow and Indigo as he separated the two side of girls.

"What are they doing here?!" asked Rainbow.

"I invited them." responded Isaac.

"You?" said Twilight.

"I contacted Principal Sombra; told him what I was doing and asked if I can receive some assistance. So he sent the Shadowbolts."

"Just for the record, none of us agreed on this." spoke Indigo. "But when Sombra said that we would be excused from classes, I figured what the hell."

"And the rest of you." asked Twilight.

"We just tagged along." spoke Sunny Flare. "Seems you're doing fine, Twilight."

"Of course she is, look who she managed to get as her boyfriend." spoke Sugarcoat bluntly.

"Lucky bitch." muttered Sour Sweet under her breath.

"Anyways, they took time out of their busy schedule to come here. So try not to get into too many arguments, Dash."

"Why are you looking at me?" asked Rainbow as she looked at her friend.

"Cause you always do it!!" shouted the gang.

"Don't have to say in front of them!" responded Rainbow as she pointed to the Shadowbolts.

"Uh, mind telling us who they are?" asked Jason.

"Right, students. These fives girls are the Shadowbolts, they attend Crystal Prep Academy. There names are Indigo Zap, Sugarcoat, Sunny Flare, Lemon Zest, and Sour Sweet." said Isaac as he introduced the girls to the students.

"Wait, Crystal Prep? As in the rival school we were told about during orientation that you all faced during the Friendship Games two years ago." stated Amber.

"The same one that Ms. Twilight who used to go to?" asked Jason as he looked at his tutor.

"That's right." responded Isaac. "Plus, a lot has changed since the last time."

"Yeah, cause last time we had to say thank to you for taking down that thief who stole Slifer after we got taken out." spoked Lemon Zest.

"We would have taken him out if we knew what he had, he just caught us off by surprise." said Sunny Flare.

"And your little victory celebration at Shining Armor's graduation duel." spoke Sugarcoat.

"Well, like I said it's been a while since we last saw them." said Isaac.

"Yeah, cause we're also set to graduate this year. And we all got plans to be pros." stated Sour Sweet as she and the girls had made the decision to join the pro circuit after they graduated high school.

"Ha, good luck with that." joked Rainbow as she laughed.

"Something funny, Crash!" responded Indigo.

"Yeah, Yap! Cause you want to be the best, when Isaac is going to be. My buddy here has already decided that he's going to go pro. So you all don't stand a chance competing for the title of 'World Champion', now me on the other hand, I can take Isaac."

"Oh, really?" said Isaac.

"Please, remember our last encounter." said Indigo as she got in the face of Dash.

"As a matter of fact, I do. I whupped your ass!!" responded Dash as she butted foreheads with the girl similar to her.

"Only cause you got lucky!" spoke the indigo girl.

"Alright, Dash. That's enough." said Applejack as she and Fluttershy pulled their friend apart.

"Anybody else getting 'doppelganger' vibes from our tutors and those girls?" asked Shadow.

"Yeah." responded the rest of the students.

"Settle down, Skittles." said Isaac.

"I'm going punch you in the face for calling me that Isaac." shouted Rainbow as she didn't like being called that as she had a bit of red on her face.

"Take your best shot." taunted Isaac.

Rainbow then broke free from Aj's grip as she charged forward with her fist raised as she started to try to swing at her male friend. Isaac kept dodging and move out of the way of Rainbow's shots as he soon grabbed both of her fists. Rainbow then tried to knee Isaac in the gut to which he blocked with his own knee and then pulled the girl as he landed a quick peck on her cheek as it was enough to get the chromatic girl to back off.

"Cheater!!" shouted Rainbow.

"You started it." said Isaac with a smug tone. The others all just laughed at Rainbow acted, even the Shadowbolts couldn't help but snicker. "Now then, if we're all done wrestling each other. Time to give the students their challenges."

Isaac then began to talk with the students, he told them that only five of them would get to duel against one member of the Shadowbolts so he had to flip a coin several times to see who would sit out as it turned out that Jason and Bryant would sit this one out. So that left the others to be selected; Isaac then assigned the students who their opponents would be. As for the girls they were talking among themselves as Twilight was a few meters away seeing Isaac as he was talking with the kids. Her train of thought was then interrupted by her old 'comrades'.

"So, Superman make you feel safe?" asked Sour Sweet as she and the other Shadowbolts all looked at their former classmates.

"The question is: Are you still the same person you were back then? Cause you couldn't get the job done for Crystal Prep." spoke Indigo.

"Why don't you find out yourself!" responded Twilight with a new found aggression as she looked at the Shadowbolts before she went back to normal. "Sorry, forgive me. I don't what came over me."

"Isaac, obviously." said Sugarcoat.

"Tell me, dear. Is he everything you ever dreamed of?" asked Sunny Flare as she was fishing for some juicy gossip.

"Well, that's a bit of stretch. But... he's done a lot for me since saving me." said Twilight as she turned back to look at her boyfriend as he finished talking with the kids. "I'm glad he chose me to be his girlfriend."

"How sweet, so disgusting." said Sour Sweet.

"Dudes, ready to rock out!" said Lemon Zest as she continued to play her air guitar to her headphones.

"Alright, we'll all set. So to start off, it'll be Penny taking on Lemon Zest." said Isaac as he called everybody to gather around the platform to begin the duels.

"Aw, yeah! I get to go first, rock on!" shouted Lemon Zest as she lowered her headphones down around her neck as there was still music playing.

"This should be easy. I mean, I was the runner-up for the tournament." said Penny as the girl got herself on the platform as well. She then slid on her duel disk as it projected a black card tray while Lemon Zest had hers on and it produced a tray of bright green energy projected from the front.

"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel." said their duel disks.

Penny's Life Points: 8000-

Lemon Zest's Life Points: 8000-

Turn 1: Penny

"I'll kick things off, and since I control no other cards, I can summon this feather friend, Blackwing - Gust the Backblast(900/1400). And since birds of a feather like to flock together, I'll also going to summon the tuner monster Kochi the Daybreak(700/1500)." stated Penny as she had two monsters on her field as she looked to execute her plan. "Now I'll tune my Level 4 Kochi the Daybreak with my Level 2 Gust the Backblast." Kochi the Daybreak then soared high into the air as it turned into four giant green rings as it circled around Gust as it flew in between them. "I Synchro Summon, Blackwing Armed Wing(2300/1000)!" Penny's monster emerged as it wielded a long rifle with a swordblade at the end of it.

"Cool move, dude." said Lemon Zest as she was impressed that the girl she was facing also was a synchro user.

"Please, you haven't seen anything. So I'll end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 2: Lemon Zest

"Then it's my turn," stated Lemon Zest as she drew her card as she could still hear the music from her headphones around her neck, "Rock on, I'll start by activating the spell card, One for One. This lets me discard a monster card from my hand, and then I can summon a Level 1 monster from my deck.” Lemon twirled a card in her hand and slotted it into her duel disk, then tapped a prompt on her screen. “I’ll get rid of Morphtronic Cameran and summon Morphtronic Celfon(100/100)!” A large yellow cellphone appeared in front of Lemon Zest. A sheen of light washed over it and it broke apart, transforming into a large yellow robot with bright pink eyes. The screen of the phone cracked down the center and swung back, forming a pair of wings.

"Only 100 attack?" said Penny as she was expecting some big play given who her opponent was.

"Careful, Penny. She's a Morphtronic user, and her gadgets are a doozy." said Pinkie as she was trying to warn the student about what Lemon Zest's deck could do as it brought back memories during the Friendship Games.

"Morphtronics? What the hell are those?" asked the girl to group as she didn't know what type of archetype that was.

"Dude, you ain't ever heard of these sweet babies? Let me show you then, cause I activate Celfon’s ability. Once per turn I can roll a die, and whatever the result is, I can reveal that many cards on the top of my deck and summon a Level 4 or lower Morphtronic monster among them.” Lemon snapped her fingers. “Go, Morphtronic Speed Dial!” Celfon thrust out its chest, made up of the top half of the phone form’s dial pad. The numbers lit up in rapid sequence before stopping on ‘2’.

“Awesome!” Lemon grabbed two cards from her duel disk, looking over them, and nodded. “I’ll bring out Morphtronic Remoten(300/1200)!” A white remote control for a video player appeared next to Celfon. The screen blipped to life to show a pair of eyes as arms and legs cords shot out of its sides. Lemon nodded at Remoten. “Next I’ll use Remoten’s ability. By banishing a Morphtronic monster in the graveyard, a Morphtronic with the same Level can be added from my deck to my hand. I’ll get rid of Cameran(800/600) and get a second one out, and then I’ll summon him.” The card ejected from her duel disk and she swiftly slotted it on the card tray. A large red camera appeared in front of her and transformed into another robot, the flash of the camera mounted on the back of its arm.

"She's got three monsters all on her first turn." said Penny as she was shocked that Lemon Zest was able to summon multiple monsters.

"They won't be around for long, cause I tune my Level 3 Morphtronic Remoten with my Level 2 Morphtronic Cameran!” Morphtronic Remoten burst apart into three glowing green rings. The rings floated around Cameran and began to spin, while Cameran glowed yellow. Lemon smiled. “I align the frequencies of my remote control and my camera together, and home in on the signal of a high-tech prodigy!” She brought her arm back and raised her duel disk, her hand poised over the back of the device. A card snapped out from it and she grabbed it and placed it on her duel disk. “I Synchro Summon! Come on out, T.G. Hyper Librarian(2400/1800)!” The rings around Cameran contracted and then exploded out, revealing Lemon’s new monster. A tall, slim humanoid figure in a white and black robe stood in front of her, a white cloak trailing down its back. It raised its head, concealed by a military cap and glasses, and snapped an arm out, a book tracing out in green light and then popping into existence in its hand.

Lemon lifted a card in her hand. “Next, I’ll banish Morphtronic Remoten from my graveyard, to special summon Morphtronic Smartfon(100/100) from my hand.” A slim smartphone materialized in Lemon’s line of monsters and snapped apart, the pieces within unfolding to form hands and feet. The top of the phone popped up, revealing a slim pair of red eyes. “I’ll activate Smartfon’s effect. It’s kinda like Celfon’s effect, but instead of summoning a Morphtronic monster from the deck, it adds a Morphtronic card into my hand. Go, Morphtronic Messenger!” Smartfon’s screen on its chest began cycling through numbers, stopping on a six.

"Sweet," said Lemon Zest as she excavated the top six cards of her deck as she fanned them out to see her options, "I'll take this little baby, Morphtronic Vacuumen. But I ain't done by a long shot, I’ll tune my Morphtronic Celfon with my Morphtronic Smartfon!” Smartfon turned into another green ring that rose up and lowered over Celfon. Lemon extended a hand into the air. “I align the frequencies of my cellphone and my smartphone together, and home in on the signal of a high-tech speedster!” She grabbed her card from her duel disk and put it on the tray. “I Synchro Summon! Rolling out, Formula Synchron(200/1500)!” Lemon’s new monster was shaped like a race car, with legs emerging from below it and arms from the sides between the wheels. It stood next to Hyper Librarian and rested its hands on the car part that formed its chest.

"Another synchro summon?" said Penny as she was surprised.

"When I summon Formula Synchron, its effect activates, letting me draw a card. Also, performing a synchro summon activates the effect of Hyper Librarian, letting me draw again.” Lemon picked up her two cards and folded them into her hand with the rest. "And now to attack, Hyper Librarian take out her Blackwing Armed Wing!" shouted the girl as her monster brought its hands together and formed an orb of pale blue light. The orb sparked and shot a beam of energy across the field.
Penny's Life Points: 7900-

"Wow, she's good." said Penny as she dusted herself off.

"That's the power of my Morphtronic babies." said Lemon Zest as she was smiling at how she loved her cards. "I'll then lay one card facedown and end my turn."

Turn 3: Penny

Man, she's tough. Taking out my monster and filling her hand all in her first turn. I see why our tutors struggled to beat them during their encounter at the Friendship Games. Their decks hit hard and fast, just means I got to beat her faster. "I draw, and I'll summon my Blackwing - Jetstream the Blue Sky(100/800) and then since I control a 'Blackwing', then I can summon my Blackwing - Oroshi the Squall(400/600) to join the fray. Now I'll tune my Level 1 Oroshi the Squall with my Level 1 Jetstream the Blue Sky!" Oroshi the Squall then flew high as it turned into a giant green ring that circled around Jetstream as it flew into the ring. "Show 'em how we turn the power of flight into the power of fight! I Synchro Summon, Assault Blackwing, Sayo the Rain Hider(800/100) in defense mode!" Out emerged a small bird that wore some clothing and had a small katana in its hand.

"With that, I'll end my turn."

Turn 4: Lemon Zest

"That all, come on. Gimme something cool." said Lemon as she put a hand on her hip and frowned. "Guess I should have expected that from a student who attends CHS. Let a real duelist show you how it's done, I draw! I'll activate the spell card, Junk Box. This lets me revive a Morphtronic in my graveyard, but it’ll be destroyed at the end of my turn. I revive Morphtronic Celfon.” The hologram of Lemon’s Spell card broke apart into scrap metal that rapidly reformed into the yellow robot. "Like before I'll activate Celfon's special ability, go Morphtronic Speed Dial!" The six numbers on Celfon’s chest lit up and stopped on 5. "Five, alright." Lemon picked up the five cards on her deck and flipped one out. “I summon Morphtronic Magnen(800/800) in defense mode.” A blue horseshoe magnet materialized in front of her and turned a pale blue, light gleaming on its surface. “And now, I tune my Level 1 Morphtronic Celfon with my Level 2 Formula Synchron!” Lemon held her hand up as Formula Synchron turned into green rings that encircled Celfon. “I align the frequencies of my cellphone and my speedster together, and home in on the signal of a musical marvel!” She placed her card on her duel disk with a grin. “I Synchro Summon! Rock on, Martial Metal Marcher(500/2200)! I summon you in defense mode!” A squat robot built of brass rose in front of Lemon, its body formed from old musical instruments, with arms made from horn pieces and the pipes of an organ mounted on its back. A screen on its chest lit up and displayed volume levels as it raised its arms and blasted a soundwave out.

"Summoning Martial Metal Marcher activates the effect of my Hyper Librarian, letting me draw a card. I also get to use my Metal Marcher’s own ability, which is to revive a Tuner monster in my graveyard with its effects negated. So Formula Synchron is coming right back.” Lemon drew as Formula Synchron rose next to the Metal Marcher. "Now, time to attack!" Lemon pointed across the field. “T.G. Hyper Librarian, take out that puny bird!”

"This time I'm one step ahead of you, cause Sayo the Rain Hider can't be destroyed twice a turn!" shouted Penny as her tiny bird used its small blade to block the attack from Lemon's monster.

"Okay, that's a good move. Not bad, girl. Since there's no point in me to attack, I'll end my battle phase. But I got one more thing to do," informed Lemon Zest, "Watch as I perform one more synchro summon. I tune my Hyper Librarian with my Formula Synchron!” Formula Synchron’s twin green rings floated over Hyper Librarian. The monster inside sparked as metal began to gather around it and circle it. "Time to call on a monster with some major motor, a beast built out of pure brawn! Here he is, the star of my deck, the Power Tool Dragon(2300/2500)!" The metal shell shattered, revealing a large, gold, mechanical dragon with silver plates of metal running down its back to its tail. Its right arm was an electrical screwdriver bit, and its right a large shovel claw. Red eyes flashed to life and it flew over the field, circling behind Penny to return to Lemon and alighting beside her.

Turn 5: Penny

"My draw." said Penny. I may have bought myself time, but even my Sayo can't protect me forever. "I now summon Fang the Steel Chain(500/800). And now I'll play the spell card, Cards for Black Feathers, so I'll send my Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame so that I can draw two cards from my deck." Penny then sent her card away as she drew some more cards. "Then I'll equip my Sayo with Charging Blade to not only give him 800 more attack points, but now you take 800 points of damage." Sayo then used its blade as it did a slash attack that headed towards Shadow as he blocked it with his duel disk.
Lemon Zest's Life Points: 7200-

"Now thanks to the ability of my Fang the Steel Chain, I can attack you directly!" shouted Penny as her monster bypassed Lemon Zest's monster and went for her as she just put her duel disk up to block.
Lemon Zest's Life Points: 6700-

"And when my Fang the Steel Chain deals damage to you, I can change one of your attack mode monsters into defense mode. So I'll switch your Power Tool Dragon into defense mode. I'll then end my turn."

Turn 6: Lemon Zest

"My draw, and now I'll play the spell card, Morphtronic Accelerator. So now I'll return my Morphtronic Scopen from my hand to my deck so that I can destroy one card on the field, and I choose your Fang the Steel Chain." said Lemon Zest. Lemon’s card fired an orb of orange light across the field; it struck Penny’s monster and shattered it. “Then, I get to draw again.” Lemon drew and looked down at her card, then went back to her hand. "Now play the Iron Call spell card, since I control a machine-type monster, this allows me to get back my Morphtronic Smartfon from my graveyard. Then I'll activate my Power Tool Dragon's special ability, Once per turn I can take three Equip spell cards from my deck, then you randomly pick one of them and it gets added to my hand.” Lemon reached to her duel disk’s screen and tapped through the display. The holograms of three cards appeared in the air over Lemon’s head. “Okay, go for it.”

"I guess... I choose... the card on the left." said Penny.

"Thanks, cause I knew you picked that card." said Lemon Zest as she revealed that out of the three cards she had chosen, two of them were the same. "Now I'll play the equip spell card you chose, my Double Tool C&D. Now my Power Tool Dragon gains 1000 more attack points. Next up, I summon my Morphtronic Lantron(200/200). Then I'll tune my Level 1 Morphtronic Smartfon with my Level 1 Lantron." Lemon put her hand over her duel disk and leaned forward as Smartfon turned into a green ring that hovered around Lantron. “I aligned the frequencies of my smartphone and my lantern together, and home in on the signal of a flying scout machine!” She grabbed her card and held it out. “I Synchro Summon! Reporting in, T.G. Recipro Dragonfly(300/300)!” A small red and green insectoid robot appeared in front of Lemon, a propeller blade set into its midsection spinning to keep it in the air.

"Then I'll move in to attack with my Power Tool Dragon!" shouted Lemon Zest as her monster then brought the drill down on Sayo as it took it out. "Oh, I probably should mentioned, my spell allows me to negate the effects of the attack target, so your Sayo can't use its ability."
Penny's Life Points: 6200-

"Then I reveal my facedown, Black Thunder. So now since a 'Blackwing' was destroyed, I can deal you damage 400 points of damage for every card you have on the field. So that's 2000 points of damage coming at you." informed Penny as she dealt some damage right back.
Lemon Zest's Life Points: 4700-

"Not bad, but time I end this duel, cause I reveal my facedown, Urgent Tuning. So now I can Synchro Summon during the battle phase!"

"Oh no!" shouted Penny as her eyes widen.

Lemon Zest then put her headphones back on her ears as the music was now picking up the tempo as she started to move her head to the beat as she started to do a bit of air guitar. "Aw yeah, crank up the volume! I tune together my Level 3 Martial Metal Marcher, Level 2 T.G. Recipro Dragonfly, and my Level 7 Power Tool Dragon!"

"All three?" said Penny as her jaw dropped.

Martial Metal Marcher turned into three golden rings that began to spin. Dragonfly and Power Tool Dragon flew into the middle of the ring, sparks shooting between them as they hovered closer. “I align the frequencies of my scouter, my musician, and my dragon together, and home in on the signal of the ultimate battle mech!” The three monsters lit up yellow and sent a column of light up into the air. Lemon looked up and stretched out her hand. “I Synchro Summon! Seek and destroy all in your path! Descend, T.G. Halberd Cannon(4000/4000)!” A bolt of lightning struck the ground behind Lemon. From the flash of light, a massive robot stood up. Streamlined black limbs were covered in orange and yellow armor, glowing brightly. Its head, silver and sculpted in an expression of stern determination, rose from its main body and its eyes flashed to life. It raised its hand and the image of a gigantic polearm appeared as a green wireframe, before it materialized for real. The robot gripped it tight and twirled it over its head, then planted it in the ground.

"Look at the size of that thing." said the other students as they were shocked by the monster they saw.

"Power chord time!" said Lemon Zest as she still played air guitar. "Now T.G. Halberd Cannon attack, but I ain't done yet, cause I play the spell card, Limit Removal! At the end of this turn all of my Machine monsters will be destroyed, but until then, their attack points double!” Across Halberd Cannon’s body, sparks flew and wires and gears popped out of its joints. A pair of rocket boosters on its back activated and shot it toward the ground faster. Halberd Cannon’s polearm stabbed into the ground in front of her and erupted in a massive shower of lightning.
Penny's Life Points: 0-

Winner: Lemon Zest

"That's it." said Isaac as he was now on the platform as he was by the side of the girl.

"What the hell? She's good." said Penny.

"Yup, that means you still have a lot to learn." said Isaac.

"Hey, kid! Nice moves." said Lemon Zest as she at least gave Penny a compliment. "I mean, I know you weren't gonna win, but at least I still had a chance to rock out." said the girl as she jumped off the platform and made her way to her comrades as she continued to rock out. Eventually Pinkie joined in as the two were just jamming.

"Next." said Isaac as he called the next pair.

"This is just a waste of time." said Sugarcoat as she slapped on her duel disk as she projected a pale violet light.

"Show that gal what I taught you, Lucky Star." said Applejack as she offered her student some moral support.

"You got it, Applejack." said the girl as she put on her duel disk as it produced an emerald card tray.

"So Applejack got you as her student? Well, I shouldn't have expected anything from that little hillbilly." snickered Sugarcoat.

"Watch what you say, that's my mentor." responded Lucky Star as she was liking Sugarcoat bad mouthing AJ.

"Did she tell you, that when we faced in the Friendship Games, I beat her? It was easy really, all she had to do was spring my trap and she fell for it like a moth to a flame." stated Sugarcoat bluntly.

"Ah still haven't forgotten." shouted Applejack as that lost to Sugarcoat was still something that ate at her.

"Well, I'm going to avenge that lost here and now."

"As if. Reality check, kid. You're not winning, we're just doing this cause it's a formality. The winner is obviously going to be me, just try not to lose like Applejack did when I beat her so convincingly. But then again, I probably should expect, after all, you are her student." stated Sugarcoat as she pushed her glasses up a bit with a snorty look.

"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel." said their duel disks.

Sugarcoat's Life Points: 8000-

Lucky Star's Life Points: 8000-

Turn 1: Sugarcoat

"I'll start things off, I draw. I'll start by playing the field spell Magnetic Field, now with this card in play I'm allowed to revive a level 4 or below 'Magnet Warrior' from my graveyard. As long as I control an Earth-Attribute Rock-type monster." Pillars of shining grey steel rose in the shape of a cross around Sugarcoat, sparks coursing along their length. Sugarcoat held up another card. “I'll then summon Delta the Magnet Warrior(1600/1400).” Trails of electricity rose from the ground, tracing out the image of a monster that solidified in a flash of silver light. It was a spindly robot, limbs of circular steel cable connecting hands, feet, and a head of silver-blue metal with magnetic bars running along the edges. A horseshoe magnet around a triangular prism of metal made its head, yellow eyes blinking on the metal.

"Now Delta's ability activates, when he's summoned I can send a Magnet Warrior from my deck to the graveyard. I choose Alpha The Electromagnet Warrior(1700/1100). I then immediately use the effect of Magnetic Field to revive Alpha to my field.” he pillars of steel shot bolts of lightning to the ground next to Delta. Another robot manifested, covered in bulky grey armor with magnets on its joints. It held outs its hands and summoned a shield with a magnet, and a staff consisting of a magnet and two long electrical coils, and swung them out. "Now's a good time to tell you about Alpha's special ability; when he's summoned I add a ‘Magna Warrior’ monster from my deck to my hand. I choose this, Berserkion the Electromagna Warrior.” She placed the offered card in her hand.

"She's already got a high leveled monster in her hand on her first turn?" said Lucky Star in shock.

"Don't let that fool you, Lucky Star!" called out Applejack. This is just how Sugarcoat did it with me in the Friendship Games. Just stay focus and don't let her monster's effects mess with your head. Show them why you won the Fall Formal tournament.

"Now, I'll end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 2: Lucky Star

"I'll start by summoning my Cyber Harpie Lady(1800/1300). Then I'll play the continuous spell card Alluring Mirror Split. Then I'll have my Cyber Harpie Lady attack your Alpha the Electromagnetic Warrior!" shouted Lucky Star.

"I now activate the effect of my Alpha the Electromagnetic Warrior, now I can tribute it during your turn to special summon a Level 4 or lower 'Magnet Warrior' from my deck. So I choose to add another copy of my Delta the Magnet Warrior and summoned it, which in turns activates its effect so now I'll send my 'Beta the Electromagnet Warrior' from my deck to my graveyard." The shrapnel of Alpha’s destruction congregated in an orb of metal and lightning, reforming into a new Delta, kneeling with a barrier of electricity around it.

"Either I'm still going to attack one of your monsters." said Lucky Star as her Harpy Lady continued its attack as it took out one of the two Deltas.
Sugarcoat's Life Points: 7800-

"I'll then end my turn."

Turn 3: Sugarcoat

"Now then, time to beat you." snickered Sugarcoat as she adjusted her glasses and then drew her card. "I reveal my facedown, Magnetic Conversion. This lets me select up to three 'Magnet Warriors' in my graveyard and return them to my hand.” She tapped three more times, the cards sliding out of her duel disk as she did, and then held them up. “I’ll take back Beta and Delta. And then, I’ll summon Delta to the field.” As the silver magnetic robot appeared in front of Sugarcoat in a shower of sparkles, she ignored it in favor of pressing tool prompts that popped up on her duel disk. “I activate Delta’s effect to send Gamma The Electromagnet Warrior(800/2000) from my deck to the graveyard, and then use the effect of Magnetic Field to revive Gamma.” Sugarcoat’s newest monster manifested from the lightning of Magnetic Field. It was a short, stocky robot with thick armor in dull gold, a magnet forming its collar and a magnet mounted on the back of each large fist.

"Now Gamma's ability activates, when he's summoned I can also bring out a level 4 or lower 'Magnet warrior' from my hand. I'll choose to summon Beta The Electromagnet Warrior(1500/1500). But I'm done, because like Gamma, Beta's ability activates the moment he's summoned. So I'll then use its effect to add one level 4 or lower 'Magnet Warrior' from my deck to my hand. I choose to add, Alpha the Magnet Warrior." Sugarcoat smiled and looked up at her three monsters hovering in front of her. “And now, all the pieces are in place.” She pulled a card from her hand and held it up. “I banish Alpha The Electromagnet Warrior from my graveyard, and Beta and Gamma The Electromagnet Warriors from my field, to special summon!” Her two monsters on the field turned into orbs of lightning and began to swirl around her, Alpha’s hologram emerging from her duel disk and turning into lightning to join them. “Come forth, Berserkion The Electromagna Warrior(3000/2800)!” She slammed her card onto her duel disk.

The orbs of lightning around her circled higher into the air and collided in a flash of light. The orb grew larger, the air crackling, sparks shooting out of it. It gleamed and then exploded outward to reveal a massive robotic monster. Its limbs were armored in red, silver, and blue, the metal curved and gleaming. Sparks flew from electrical coils embedded in its shoulders and running along its arms. A sword formed from a metal rod with electrical coils appeared in its hand, and it thrust the blade up to summon lightning to it, a metallic clang echoing across the field.

"3000 attack points?!" said Lucky Star as she saw the stats on the monster.

"This is starting to feel familiar." said Applejack.

"Now Berserkion pummel the kid and her monster." stated Sugarcoat bluntly as her monster used its sword and brought it down on Lucky Star's monster as she took a big hit and had to cover up.
Lucky Star's Life Points: 6800-

"Now the effect of my Alluring Mirror Split activates, since my 'Harpy Lady' was destroyed in battle. I can now replace it with a brand new 'Harpie' monster, so I choose to summon out my Harpie's Pet Dragon(2000/2500) in defense mode." stated Lucky Star as she had a new monster appear on her field.

"Nothing I can't handle. I'll throw down a facedown. Your move."

Turn 5: Lucky Star

"My draw, now I'll summon my Harpie Harpist(1700/600)." Out emerged a harpie monster as she had a harp in her hands. "Now the effect of my monster activates, when she's summoned, I can target a Winged-Beast type monster on my field and a monster that you control and return both to our hands. So I'll choose my Harpie's Pet Dragon and your Berserkion!" informed Lucky Star as both monsters were surrounded in a white light as shot back into cards and appeared in the girl's respective hands.

"Nice! Now that Lucky Star did that, Sugarcoat can't summon her Berserkion since the requirements are removed from play." stated Applejack as she was proud of her student on taking out her rival's powerful creature.

"This is why I beat you with ease, Applejack. Plus country folk really are simple-minded." stated the blunt girl.

"Why I!!!" shouted Applejack as she started to climb on the platform as she wanted to take a swing at the cold-hearted girl as Isaac and Sunset were holding their friend back. "Let me at her! Let me at her!!" shouted the country girl.

"Settle down, hillbilly. Or else you'll miss this, I reveal my facedown, Burial from a Different Dimension. Now I can target 3 of my banished monsters and place them back in my graveyard." Soon the images of Alpha, Gamma, and Beta the Electromagnet Warriors appeared as they all appeared in Sugarcoat's graveyard.

"Oh, no." said Lucky Star as she realized that Sugarcoat was able to out think her.

"Drat, she figured out a way to get those warriors in the case that Lucky Star got rid of her monster without triggering its effect." said Applejack.

"I would have done the same play in our last duel, Applejack. It's no surprise. Seems Lucky Star really is your student, cause you both suck."

"I'll still take out your Delta that's on your field." said Lucky Star as her monster took out Sugarcoat's monster.
Sugarcoat's Life Points: 7700-

"I'll then lay one card facedown and end my turn."

Turn 6: Sugarcoat

"My draw, and like before I'll banish Alpha, Beta, and Gamma the Electromagnetic Warriors from my graveyard so that I can summon my Berserkion once more." Sugarcoat now had her powerful monster on the field as it landed with a thud. "Now I summon Alpha the Magnet Warrior(1400/1700) and like before I'll use the effect of my Magnetic Field spell to revive my Delta the Magnet Warrior from my graveyard. Then Delta's effect allows me to send a 'Magnet Warrior' from my deck to my graveyard, so I'll choose my Gamma the Magnet Warrior." stated Sugarcoat as she sent her monster to the grave. "Now I'll play the spell card, Magnet Induction. Since I control a 'Magnet Warrior' whose Level is 4 or lower. I can now special summon different 'Magnet Warrior' from my deck. So I choose my Beta the Magnet Warrior. Furthermore, for the rest of the turn, my monsters can't be destroyed in battle or by card effects." stated Sugarcoat as her new monster appeared as she now had four monsters on her field.

"Now to battle, Alpha the Magnet Warrior attack her Harpie Harpist." stated Sugarcoat.

"Are you nuts?" asked Lucky Star. "My monster's is stronger than yours, sure yours can't be destroyed this turn, but your life points still get hit." Harpie Harpist then used her harp as she played it and an energy beam came out and hit Alpha as it fell to the floor.
Sugarcoat's Life Points: 7400-

"Aj, look familiar." asked Isaac as he wanted to see if his friend recognized what her rival was doing.

"Oh, shit." said Applejack as she knew what Sugarcoat was doing.

"I wasn't planning on destroying your monster, in fact, it was intentionally that I attack. Cause now I can activate the second effect of my field spell, since a monster that battled with an Earth-Attribute Rock-type monster of mine was not destroyed, it returns to its owner’s hand.”

"It what?" shouted Lucky Star as her monster turned into an orb of light as it now appeared in her hand.

"Now you're defenseless, and your spell's effect doesn't activate. So Berserkion, attack her directly." stated the shadowbolt girl as her mighty monster did a slash attack as Lucky Star covered up.
Lucky Star's Life Points: 3800-

"Now to attack, Delta and Beta strike her." Sugarcoat's two remaining monsters heard her command as they too delivered an attack as they did some massive amounts of damage to the student.

"Ahh." said Lucky Star as she fell on her back.
Lucky Star's Life Points: 500-

"Now then I'll end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 7: Lucky Star

"My turn," said Lucky Star as she was now down to the last of her points and still had a powerful monster to deal with, "I'll summon my Harpie Channeler(1400/1300). Then I'll activate her effect, so I'll discard a 'Harpie' card so that I can special summon a 'Harpie' monster in face-up defense mode. So now I'll summon my Harpie Dancer. Then I'll tune together my Level 4 Harpie Channeler with my Level 4 Harpie Dancer!" Harpie Channeler then transformed into four giant green rings as it circled around Harpie Dancer. "I Synchro Summon, Cyber Slash Harpie Lady(2600/1400)!" Lucky Star now had her synchro monster on the field as she looked to turn the duel around. "Then I'll activate my spell card Elegant Egotist, so since I control 'Harpie Lady', I can special summon Harpie Lady Sisters(1950/2100) from my deck. And my Cyber Slash Harpie's effect activates since a spell/trap or effect activated, I can return your Berserkion back to your hand." stated Lucky Star as she got rid of the monster again.

"Now I'll have my Cyber Slash Harpie attack your Alpha the Magnet Warrior!" shouted Lucky Star as her monster took out Sugarcoat's monster.
Sugarcoat's Life Points: 6200-

"Now Harpie Lady Sisters attack her Beta the Magnet Warrior." stated Lucky Star as she launched another attack.
Sugarcoat's Life Points: 5950-

"I'll now end my turn."

"Before that, I'll activate the effect of my facedown, Magnet Reverse, so now I can special summon one of my banished Machine or Rock monsters and summon it to my field. So Alpha the Electromagnetic Warrior is back in play. And Alpha's effect activates upon being summoned, so I'll add a 'Magna Warrior' from my deck to my hand." said Sugarcoat as her duel disk then ejected the card she wanted.

Turn 8: Sugarcoat

"Applejack, your student has failed miserably. At least you gave me a challenge, your student on the other hand, not so much." stated Sugarcoat.

"What 'cha you say?" shouted Lucky Star.

"Kid, let me show what a veteran can do." stated the girl as she drew her card. "I now play the spell card, Polymerization. And so I fuse together my Berserkion the Electromagna Warrior and Valkyrion the Magna Warrior." Sugarcoat leaned forward, light reflecting off her glasses. “I combine the energy of the magnetic valkyrie and the electromagnetic berserker, to bring forth the ultimate electrical marvel of battle!” She grabbed her card from her duel disk. “I Fusion Summon, Imperion Magnum the Superconductive Battlebot(4000/4000)!” She placed the card on her holographic card tray and it lit up in rays of blue light. The fusion vortex in front of her widened as her new monster stepped out of it. The components of both its Fusion materials – rather, the pieces of the six individual Magnet Warriors – had merged to form a robotic centaur knight, hooves beating at the ground. A massive sword with a guard shaped like a magnet was in its right hand, and a pronged cannon emerged from its left shoulder, electricity coursing along its length. Imperion Magnum swung its sword and sent out waves of energy along the ground, bellowing.

"No." said Applejack as she realized the result of this duel and the painful memory of the monster.

"Like I told, I win." snickered Sugarcoat as she looked at Lucky Star, she then looked at Applejack as she gave her a sly smirk. "Now Imperion Magnum, destroy Cyber Slash Harpie Lady!" Imperion Magnum drew back its sword and galloped forward. It jumped up above Cyber Slash Harpie Lady and descended, swinging its sword to point down. The blade impaled Cyber Slash Harpie Lady between the shoulders and pinned it to the ground, Imperion Magnum leaning over it. The cannon on its shoulder hummed and fired a beam of blue energy obliterating its target.
Lucky Star's Life Points: 0-

Winner: Sugarcoat

"Like student, like teacher." said Sugarcoat as she looked at Aj. "But what can I expect, she's learning from you." With that she got off the field and Sugarcoat gathered her cards from her card tray.

"Just you wait. One day." said Applejack as she look at her rival. She then hopped up and bent down to check on her student. "You okay, sugar."

"Yeah, just... sorry. I couldn't defend your honor." said Lucky Star as she looked at her teacher.

"You did the best, that's all that matters." smiled Aj as she helped her mentee up and both cleared the way.

"Next!" shouted Isaac.

"Finally, how dare you make me wait." said Sunny Flare as she got up from the chair she was sitting on as she flipped her hair and made her way to the platform. She activated her duel disk as it projected a moderate cerise card tray.

"Good luck, Amber." said Rarity as she was giving some last words to her student. "Take that diva down."

"I promise, Ms. Rarity." nodded Amber as she got on the platform and had her duel disk project an amber color light.

"You think you'll defeat me. Please. The only reason why Rarity was able to beat me before was because she cheated and used a card she hadn't used previously." stated Sunny Flare.

"I still beat you fair and square." barked out Rarity.

"If you call using a card that nobody's seen 'fair'. But I'm not one to dwell on the past for too long. Besides, I only have limited time, so let's hurry this up." said Sunny Flare snootily.

"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel." said their duel disks.

Sunny Flare's Life Points: 8000-

Amber's Life Points: 8000-

Turn 1: Sunny Flare

"My draw, and I'll summon Hazy Flame Cerbereus(2000/200)." A circle of fire lit up in front of Sunny. From within them rose a large three-headed dog, its entire body made of flickering orange and red flames. The three heads looked at each other before turning forward to growl at Amber. "Despite it being level 6, I can summon it without a tribute. All I have to do is sap its strength in half." Cerbereus groaned as its body lit up red, the flames of its mane dying down.

“I end my turn.”

Turn 2: Amber

Her monster only has 1000 attack points. What is she planning? "It's my turn, and now I summon my Lunalight Emerald Bird(1200/1000)." Amber now had a monster appeared as it was a women who had green feathers along her entire body as as had her right eye had a half moon mask.

"I'll admit, Rarity does have good taste. She picked a student whose monsters are colorful and stylish. My word, the colors, the material, all of it speaks to me." said Sunny Flare.

"Thanks, now the effect of my Lunalight Emerald Bird allows me to send my Lunalight Crimson Fox to the graveyard so that I can draw one card. Next up, I'll play my spell card, Alley Catastrophe. Thanks to this, my monster now gains 500 extra attack points during battle. So now time to swoop in, Emerald Bird attack her Hazy Flame Cerbereus!" shouted Amber as her monster swooped high into the air and did a whirlwind effect as it took out its target.
Sunny Flare's Life Points: 7300-

"Thank, dear. I activate my monster's special ability. When Hazy Flame Cerbereus is destroyed, I can add a ‘Hazy’ card from my deck to my hand.” She held up her card. “I’ll take this, the continuous spell card Hazy Pillar.”

"In that case, I'll end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 3: Sunny Flare

"My turn, and now I'll activate my spell, Hazy Pillar." The ground behind Sunny split apart. A glowing, wavering pillar of bright orange fire rose up from it, the top flickering and snapping the air. “As long as this card is in play, any Hazy Flame monster I may summon requires one less tribute for their summoning.” She flipped another card out of her hand and swung it onto her card tray. “Since I now I have need no for tributes for this monster, I’ll summon the Level 6 Hazy Flame Sphynx(1900/1900) in attack mode.” A large fireball emerged from the Hazy Pillar and floated in front of Sunny. The flames expanded and grew into a form laying on the ground, and then receded to reveal her monster. A beast with the body of a lion and the head of a woman lounged on the grass, her mane a field of orange and red fire. Jeweled blue and yellow regalia covered her forehead and neck.

Sunny smirked and reached to another card. “I now activate the spell card, Card Advance. This allows me to look at the top five cards of my deck and place them back on top of the deck in any order I wish, and I’m also afforded an extra tribute summon this turn.” Sunny’s cards ejected from her duel disk, and she picked them up and fanned them out. She let out a small giggle. "Does this remind you of anything, Rarity?" asked Sunny Flare with a sly smile.

"Grr." growled Rarity as she remembered this was the same move Sunny Flare used in her duel against her.

"So you're trying to manipulate the cards you want by placing them in the order you desire." stated Amber.

"Clever girl, but not really. Allow me to demonstrate," One by one, Sunny put the five cards back on her deck, and rolled her neck when she was done, "I activate the effect of Hazy Flame Sphynx. Once per turn I can guess if the top card of my deck is a spell, trap, or monster card. I then reveal and discard that card, and if I guessed correctly, I can summon a Fire monster from my hand or graveyard.” She put a hand on the top of her deck and smirked.

"Ah, so that's why you played that spell." stated Amber as even she was impressed by Sunny Flare's plan.

"I guess the top card to be a monster." Sunny drew and held up the card. She press a hand to her cheek. "Who would have guessed, it is a monster. Hazy Flame Hydra! Hydra now gets discarded, and I can summon a monster.” She pursed her lip. I now use the effect of Hazy Flame Sphynx to revive my Hazy Flame Hydra(2300/200)!” Hazy Flame Sphynx turned its head and opened its mouth to shoot a column of fire at the ground. The flame formed into the shape of Sunny Flare’s monster and dispersed to reveal it, a writhing mass of red serpentine necks topped by pairs of red jaws with glowing eyes.

"Like before, the effect of my Card Advance allows me to conduct an additional summon this turn. I summon Hazy Flame Mantikor(2200/300), and by the effect of my Hazy Pillar, I shall do so without needing a tribute.” A swarm of fireballs floated out of the pillar of fire and congregated, growing into a quadrupedal form and dispersing. A large red lion with leathery wings crouched in front of Sunny, its mane a ring of orange fire. Sunny laughed and pointed forward. "Now Hazy Flame Sphynx attack her Lunalight Emerald Bird!" Hazy Flame Sphynx leaned its head back and shot a jet of fire from its mouth. The fire struck Emerald Bird and knocked it through the air, as it struck the ground and exploded.
Amber's Life Points: 7300-

"I now activate my facedown, Lunalight Reincarnation Dance. Now since my monster was destroyed, I can now add 2 'Lunalight' monsters from my deck to my hand." stated Amber as she used her duel screen to make her selection on the cards she wanted as it slid out for her to grab.

"Well, it won't help you. Cause now both my Hazy Flame Mantikor and Hazy Flame Hydra attack you both directly!" shouted Sunny Flare. The Hydra’s heads turned to face each other and summoned an orb of fire between them. The orb launched forward and engulfed Amber in a flash of light. Sunny’s Mantikor roared and leapt through the air. It lifted its paw and extended claws of flickering orange fire as it did a slash on the young teen.
Amber's Life Points: 2800-

"Ahh!" said Amber as she fell onto her back from the attacks.

"Tisk, tisk, dear. You've barely made a move, and I'm about to win this duel in record time. Rarity, you might want to find a new apprentice, this kid is last year's model." snickered Sunny Flare.

"I'm not a kid!" shouted Amber as that comment got her angry. "And don't you dare insult, Ms. Rarity."

"Seems she's a feisty one, typical for a child. Now let me show you some discipline." Sunny Flare sneered and held a hand into the air. “I overlay my Hazy Flame Hydra and my Hazy Flame Mantikor! Using my two Level 6 monsters, I construct the Overlay Network!”

Rarity’s eyes widened, "No, not this monster." recalled the marshmallow girl as her memories of it came flooding to her mind.

Sunny Flare’s two monsters turned into orbs of orange light and swirled into a flaming vortex above her, red light gleaming from the center. She spun in place as she reached to her duel disk, her hair and skirt flying through the air. "By uniting the serpent of fire and the lion of fire, I spark the kindling that will light the flames of malice!” She stopped with her hand in place, a card ejecting into her fingers. “I Xyz Summon.” She swung her card out and onto her duel disk with one swift motion. “Take flight, Hazy Flame Basiltrice(2500/1800, OLU: 2)!” The Hazy Pillar behind Sunny blazed hotter as a shadowed form appeared within it. With a loud screech, a massive avian monster flew out of the flames and circled the field, two balls of orange light orbiting it. Wings of fire and gold swept through the skies, feathers in blue and orange and red rustling and a long serpent’s tail flicking the air in its wake. The monster touched down behind Sunny on six claws and raised its chest proudly, red eyes blazing beneath a golden crown and a hair of blue fire.

"Woah." said Amber as she took in the creature in all of its glory.

"Impressive, isn't it. But I'm not done, When my Hydra is used as an Xyz Material, the monster I summon with it gains an additional Xyz Material, in the form of another Hazy Flame Monster in my graveyard. I choose my Hazy Flame Cerbereus.” A third ball of light rose from Sunny’s duel disk and joined the other two orbiting the Basiltrice. "Now the effect of my Basiltrice activates, since it has 3 Xyz materials it gains an extra 200 attack and defense points for each one of them making it now have 3100 attack." informed Sunny Flare.

"I'll now end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 4: Amber

"My turn," said Amber as she drew her card and looked at, "Here goes, I now play the spell card Polymerization and I'll use it to combine my Lunalight Blue Cat and Lunalight Black Sheep. By combining the reflexes of a fierce feline with the cunning covertness of a stealthy beast, I can create a new lunar legend! I Fusion Summon! Lunalight Cat Dancer(2400/2000)!" Amber now had a monster that was a cat women who wore white garments as her dress was revealed so that it could show off her smooth legs and thighs as it wore a cat mask that had a moon shape as well as wore bracelets on both of her arms. She struck a pose as it showed off her dominance as well as her beauty.

"Now the ability of my Black Sheep activates, since I used it to fusion summon, I can add my Lunalight Emerald Bird back to my hand." said Amber as her duel disk ejected her monster for her to grab. "Then I play the spell card, Lunalight Perfume. So now I can bring back a 'Lunalight' monster from my graveyard, so come back, Lunalight Blue Cat(1600/1200). And when Blue Cat is special summoned, I can double the attack points of my Cat Dancer. Finally, I'll activate Cat Dancer's ability, so now by offering up my Blue Cat is tribute, my Cat Dancer can attack your monster twice!"

"Well, I didn't see that coming." said Sunny Flare in a nonchalant tone.

Cat Dancer now had its stats soar up to 4800 attack points, "Do it, Cat Dancer! Attack Hazy Flame Basiltrice, Full Moon Mayhem!!" shouted Amber. Her monster then leaped into the air as it delivered a powerful kick to Sunny's monster before it leaped back.
Sunny Flare's Life Points: 5600-

"The first attack doesn't destroy your monster, but this second attack will." said Amber as her monster unleashed a moon slash attack as it was heading towards Hazy Flame Basiltrice.

"I activate my trap card, Slip of Fortune. This negates your attack and banishes Hazy Flame Basiltrice until the next turn.” Basiltrice turned into a ball of flame and was drawn into the Hazy Pillar. Cat Dancer’s attack flickered out and vanished in the air.

"Why do that? Now when your monster comes back, it'll no overlay units." informed Amber.

"Only a child would think so closed-minded." snickered Sunny Flare.

"I'm not some child!" shouted Amber as she ended her turn.

Turn 5: Sunny Flare

"Yes, you are. And time I show you what the adult can do." said Sunny Flare as she drew her card. "Now the second effect of my Slip of Fortune returns Hazy Flame Basiltrice to my field.” The Hazy Pillar behind her flared up and the Basiltrice flew out of it, embers swirling in the air in its wake. Sunny tossed her hair and gestured to Hazy Flame Sphynx. “I shall now use the effect of Hazy Flame Sphynx. I guess the type of card on top of my deck and then send it to the graveyard, and if I guessed right, I can revive a Fire monster in the graveyard.” Sunny place her hand on her deck. “I’m going to guess it’s a monster card.” She turned the card over and barked out a chuckle. "You lose this duel. It’s another copy of Hazy Flame Sphynx. It goes to the graveyard, and I’ll revive my Hazy Flame Hydra.” A jet of flame erupted from the ground in front of Sunny, and the multi-headed serpent slithered out of it and rose up.

"Next I'll summon my Hazy Flame Hyppogrif(2100/200)." A fireball floated from the Hazy Pillar and expanded into the shape of a new monster. The flames receded to reveal an avian with fiery wings and four talons crouching on the ground, a crest of red fire on its head. Sunny smirked. “And now, I think you know what comes next. I overlay my Hazy Flame Sphynx, Hazy Flame Hydra, and Hazy Flame Hyppogrif! Using my three Level 6 monsters, I construct the Overlay network!” The three monsters turned into orbs of flame and floated towards the Hazy Pillar, circling it in streaks of light. Sunny held her hand up. “By uniting the serpent of fire, the avian of fire, and the lion of fire, I spark the kindling that will light the inferno of malice!” She swept her arms through the air, bringing her hand down to her duel disk. “I Xyz Summon!” She whipped the card out and slid it into place on her duel disk, the card tray lighting up. “Take flight, Hazy Flame Basiltrice!” A shockwave of orange and red energy burst out of the Hazy Pillar, signaling the Basiltrice’s arrival as it flew out. It circled around Sunny and landed on her right, three orbs of orange light circling it.

"You remember the special ability of my Hazy Flame Hydra, right? When Hazy Flame Hydra is used as an Xyz Material, another Hazy Flame monster in my graveyard can be attached as an additional Xyz Material. I choose my Hazy Flame Mantikor.” Another ball of light emerged from the ground and floated into orbital formation with the other three. “Now that that is taken care of, I think you should be aware of my Basiltrice’s other abilities.” Sunny chuckled softly. “With three or more Xyz Materials, my Basiltrice gains two hundred attack points for each of them. And with four or more Xyz Materials, you cannot target my Basiltrice with card effects. But I'm not done, cause my spell card, Hazy Pillar allows me to add another monster as Xyz material to my Basiltrice, and I choose my Hazy Flame Peryton." Now Sunny's monster had a total of five materials as it was now untouchable. "Now with 5 overly units, it can't be destroyed by card effects!"

"It's unbeatable." said Amber as she had no plan to take down that monster.

"Now to win, I activate Hazy Flame Basiltrice's special ability, by using one overlay unit, I can banish a monster on your field. So say goodbye to that Cat Dancer." Hazy Flame Basiltrice opened it beak as one of its orbiting lights flew into its mouth. With a loud caw it snapped its head forward, a beam of bright orange light lancing across the field. Cat Dancer mewled as the light consumed it, its forming shattering under the blast. Amber grit her teeth and looked away, raising an arm to block her eyes.

"Now to end this, Hazy Flame Basiltrice attack the 'child' directly!!" shouted Sunny Flare. Basiltrice opened its mouth and fired a stream of flame.

Winner: Sunny Flare

"Like I said, you're just a child pretending to know what she's doing. Grow up and then maybe I'll take you seriously, but then again, you have a lot of growing up to do." snickered Sunny Flare as she fixed her hair and got off.

"Amber, darling." said Rarity as she went to check on her student.

"Sorry." Amber had her head down as she feel disappointed that she let her teacher down.

"You did well." said the fashionista as she led her student off the field.

"Next!" called Isaac.

"So which one of you students am I going to have fun with?" smiled Sour Sweet. "And by fun, I mean crushing your very soul in defeat." said the girl as her expression changed on a dime.

"That would be me." said Shadow as he was now up to bat.

"Careful, Shadow." said Fluttershy as she remembered her last encounter with Sour Sweet at the Friendship Games.

"Remember, what I taught you Shadow. Keep calm, focus, and have a party." stated Pinkie.

"How's that last part gonna help?!" shouted the boy. "God, why did I get stuck with you as my tutor?" muttered the boy under his breath.

"What was that?" asked Pinkie with a smile.

"Nothing." said Shadow as he slipped his duel disk on and projected a dark blue card tray which Sour Sweet matched with her pale pink color.

"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel." said their duel disks.

Shadow's Life Points: 8000-

Sour Sweet's Life Points: 8000-

Turn 1: Sour Sweet

"Ladies first," said Sour Sweet as she drew her card, "I'll activate this spell card, Quiet Life. Now pay close attention, cause for the rest of this duel, everything changes. If you normal summon on your turn, then you can't special summon and vice-versa."

"I can't what?" said Shadow. "So I can only do one or the other."

"You are a smart boy, shame that you're slow and dumb." snickered Sour Sweet. "Now I'll activate the spell card Amazoness Call, now I can add 1 'Amazoness' monster from my deck and add it to my hand. I now play the spell card, Polymerization so that I can fuse together my Amazoness Tiger and Amazoness Spy." The two monsters flickered and were drawn up into the vortex. Sour Sweet held her hand up. "Get set for some paws, claws, and like, warring roars! I Fusion Summon Amazoness Pet Liger(2500/2400)!" A pillar of dark red light burst out, revealing a massive liger, pale beige with black stripes. Armor plating with spikes covered its shoulders, gleaming blue against the dark orange of its mane. It prowled up next to Sour Sweet, glaring at Shadow with one red eye, the other closed by a jagged scar, and roared at her.

"He's such a cutie, isn't he?" Sour Sweet smiled and patted the monster on one of its armored portions. "I'll then lay a facedown and end my turn."

Turn 2: Shadow

"My turn." said Shadow as he drew his card; he then touched his duel screen as he looked at the card on Sour Sweet's field and enlarged it as he read its effects. So I have to pick which method of summoning I do for the turn, cause I can't do the other. This is going to be tough.

"I'll throw down a facedown and end my turn."

"That's all?" asked Pinkie.

"There's not much he can he do on his first turn, little sis." informed Isaac. "For Shadow to even begin to summon his Xyz monsters, he has to normal summon on his first turn. Then usually he can special summon all the monsters he wants, but Sour Sweet's spell card forbids him from doing that. So in a sense, she's locked Shadow from ever summoning his monsters."

"Right, cause like you said, Shadow needs at least one monster on his field for his deck to work. And with that spell in play, his options are either limited or he straight up can't do anything." added Twilight. "Sour Sweet has basically forced Shadow to just play a monster once per turn, and then she can just slowly take care of them one by one until he's defenseless."

"So, he's lost and it's the first turn." said Rainbow.

"Weren't you paying attention to what we were saying?" said Isaac.

Turn 3: Sour Sweet

"Got nothing, don't worry, I'll put you out of your misery really soon." said Sour Sweet as she drew her card. "Faster, than expected. Now I'll have my Pet Liger attack you directly. And when he attacks, he gains 500 extra attack points. Chew him up, kitty." informed the girl as her monster now raced forward and tackled he boy to the ground as it had him pinned down. It then unsheathed a claw as it traced it along the boy's face as he was scared of the beast with its fangs out; Liger then raised it paw up and left a scratch on Shadow's face.

"Ow, that hurt!" said Shadow as he sat up with claw marks on his face as it glowed red for a second before they disappeared.
Shadow's Life Points: 5000-

"But it's worth it, cause since I took damage, I can now special summon my Raidraptor - Avenge Vulture(1700/100) from my hand." said Shadow as he managed to summon a monster to his field.

"So you took the damage to set yourself up for the next turn. I don't know whether you're smart or just dumb. Maybe the second option." stated Sour Sweet. "Well, either way, I'm done for now. I'll place another card facedown and end my turn."

Turn 4: Shadow

"It's my turn and time for me to take advantage of this duel." said Shadow as he drew his card.

"Alright, Shadow. Let's see what you got." said Isaac to himself.

"Now I'll activate the effect of my Raidraptor - Pain Lanius(100/100), so by taking damage equal to my Avenge Vulture's defense points, I can special summon this bird to the field. And since I took damage, I can summon a second Avenge Vulture." said Shadow as he now had a trio of birds on his field.
Shadow's Life Points: 4900-

"It's go time, I overlay all three of my Raidraptors in order to build the Overlay Network!" Shadow's three monsters then transformed into dark orbs of light as they hovered in the air for a bit as a portal opened up in front of the boy. Soon all three orbs disappeared inside of the portal as a pillar of light emerged. "From the shadows, the falcon soars on wings of courage, talons ready for the rebellion! I Xyz Summon! Witness the ascent of Raidraptor - Rise Falcon(100/2000, OLU: 3)!" Out came a huge bird that had a mechanical look as it let out a piercing screech.

"An oversized turkey? That's your big play, it only has 100 attack points." stated Sour Sweet as she wasn't impressed.

"Just watch, I activate Rise Falcon's special ability, by using one overlay unit it gains the attack points of your Liger!" shouted Shadow as his monster rose up to 2600 attack points. "Now take out her Liger, Ravaging Rebellion!!!"

"Yeah, that's like, not gonna happen. I reveal my facedown, Amazoness Substitution. Now since you targeted an 'Amazoness' monster, I can now special summon a Level 4 or below 'Amazoness' monster from my hand and it becomes the new target, so I choose my Amazoness Swords Woman(1500/1600)!" said Sour Sweet as out came a female warrior as she wielded a sword.

"Doesn't matter, you're still taking the damage." informed Shadow.

"Wrong again." said Sour Sweet. "See this is why girls are much better than boys, see my Amazoness Swords Woman makes it so that any damage it encounters, you take it instead." said Sour Sweet as Shadow's bird collided with the female warrior as the boy felt the after effect.
Shadow's Life Points: 3800-

"Not good." said Pinkie as she watched her student was now down to nearly half of his life total.

"You got lucky, I'll end my turn with two facedowns."

Turn 5: Sour Sweet

"My turn, and now I'll sacrifice my Amazoness Swords Woman so that I can advance summon my Amazoness Queen(2400/1800). A large wooden throne decorated with animal skulls appeared. Sitting on it was a blue-haired warrior clad in armor of animal hides. A large curved sword with a spiked guard rested between her legs, her hands on the end of the hilt. "Now to attack, Amazoness Pet Liger attack that bird, remember he gains 500 more attack points when he attacks."

"This time I'm ready, Raidraptor Evasion, so by sending one of its Xyz materials to my hand, I can dodge your Liger's attack." said Shadow as his bird survived Liger's claws.

"So what? I still have my Amazoness Queen to attack with, attack my mighty monster." said Sour Sweet as her monster raised its sword up high and was about to take out Rise Falcon.

"I activate my facedown, Rank-Up-Magic Battle Force. When you declare an attack, I can target 1 'Raidraptor' Xyz monster I control and then use that monster to Xyz summon a monster that's 2 ranks higher!" Shadow's Rise Falcon then transformed itself and its last overlay unit into orbs of light as they stayed in the air as a portal opened up in front of him. Soon both orbs disappeared as a pillar of light emerged. "Fiercest falcon, set your wings ablaze and lock your gaze on our ill-fated foe! Now, make it so! Go, Rank-Up Xyz Evolution! Emerge, Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon(2000/3000, OLU: 2)!" Shadow now replaced his previous monster with an even powerful one.

"So what, it's still weaker. I continue my attack." stated the girl.

"Now I reveal my last facedown, Adversity. So I dodge your attack again and then my Revolution Falcon gains an extra 1000 attack points." said Shadow as his monster dodged the attack and was now stronger.

"Alright, well I end my turn."

Turn 6: Shadow

"My turn, and now I activate Revolution Falcon's special ability, by using one overlay unit, my Revolution Falcon can attack all of your monsters. And so I'll start by attacking your Pet Liger, and so his attack and defense points drop to zero!" stated the boy as the cat lost its stats. "Go Blitz Bombardment!!!!" shouted Shadow as his monster was dropping tons of small bombs as they went off around Liger.

"See, my Liger ain't going anywhere, cause my Amazoness Queen's effect makes it so that all my 'Amazoness' monsters can't be destroyed in battle." informed Sour Sweet.
Sour Sweet's Life Points: 5000-

"Maybe, but you still take damage. And now my Revolution Falcon will attack your Amazoness Queen!" said Shadow as his bird was charging towards the monster.

"Not gonna work, see Liger doesn't like when you attack its owner, so it can negate your attack! And it's roar is something to real howl about." said Sour Sweet as Liger unleashed a powerful roar as it stopped Shadow's monster in its tracks.

"No way." said Shadow as he was surprised by that move.

Turn 7: Sour Sweet

"Time to finish this, and I'll start by playing Pot of Greed to draw two cards, then I'm summoning my Amazoness Tiger(1100/1500). And this little cute thing gets 400 extra attack points for every 'Amazoness' monster I control, so now it has 1900 attack points. Then I play the spell card, Amazoness Spellcaster. So now I switch the original attack points of my Pet Liger with your Revolution Falcon." Pet Liger now had 2000 attack points while Revolution Falcon dropped to 2500 attack points. "Now Pet Liger attack and as you know when it battles, it gains 500 more attack points, but due to my Queen's effect, all my monsters remain." Pet Liger then collided with Revolution Falcon as it resulted in an explosion to occur as only Pet Liger remained. "Now to finish you off, Amazoness Queen and Tiger take him out!" stated Sour Sweet as her two monsters finished off Shadow's remaining points.
Shadow's Life Points: 0-

Winner: Sour Sweet

"Easiest win of my life." stated Sour Sweet as she flipped her hair and got off.

"Why?" said Shadow as he pounded the ground in frustration.

"Aw, cheer up." said Pinkie as she approached her student. "So you didn't win, I mean you're the fourth person who's lost in a row. And is the one who lost the most points in a few turns. And not to mention got your butt whupped by a girl." rambled Pinkie as she was going on a tangent.

"Is this suppose to be you making me feel better?" asked Shadow.

"Somebody needs a hug." said Pinkie as she pulled her student in for a tight squeeze.

"I don't want a hug, especially from you of all people." said the boy as she struggled to break free from his teacher's strong grip. "Why does the universe hate me for giving you as tutor?"

"What was that?" asked Pinkie with a smile.

"Nothing." said Shadow as he continued to get free and away from Pinkie.

"Next!" said Isaac.

"Best for last, I ain't complaining." said Indigo Zap as she was raring to go as she jumped on the platform and put on her duel disk as it projected a card tray of dark blue energy.

"Alright, Jack. Listen up!" said Rainbow as she was talking with her student. "The others all failed, so it's up to you to make sure that those Shadowbolts don't walk away with all the wins. You're the last line defense, solider. Go out and win, show no mercy!" shouted the chromatic girl to the boy. "Am I understood?!"

"I'll try." said Jack nonchalantly. He then got up on the platform as he slid on his duel disk and it projected a purple card tray.

"So, Crash really became a teacher. Man, is she an egghead." snickered Indigo. "Hey, kid. How's it like learning from a loser, like your mentor?"

"Keeping talking and I'm coming up there myself to shut you up!" shouted Rainbow as she waved her fist. "Jack, no mercy!!! This is war, private!!!"

"Yes, captain." said the boy as he told his commander.

"So kid, I got a burning question: tell me how it feels to be roasted at 300 degrees?" snickered Indigo. "You know what they say, if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. Maybe you should stopped, dropped and rolled."

"Grr." said Jack as he was amused by Indigo making fun of his burns. He could feel the sting and heat from his right side as he touched his right arm as his headache was bring back some memories.

"Hey, knock it off. The kid..."

"Enough, Rainbow." said Isaac. "Indigo knows about Jack's past, it's why she's making those comments. See, another thing that Jack needs to overcome is the remarks and comments that people will make about his burns. He needs to be able to not let those remarks or his past memory get in his head and affect his mind. He does that, and he'll lose faster that you down a bottle of apple cider. Everybody has to face stuff that people make fun of, they need to be able to use that bullying and push forward or let it forever guide your life in fear."

"Anybody tell you, that you should have wore a blazer when you caught on fire." snickered Indigo as the rest of the Shadowbolts joined in on chuckling. The girls all had glares, but Isaac told them to let it go and let Jack deal with it himself.

"Rainbow's right, you talk too much, Yap. Time for me to shut you up." said Jack as he wasn't letting Indigo's insults get to him.

"Then get ready to crash and burn kid, but then again, you already know how that feels. Especially your parents." stated the girl.

"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel." said their duel disks.

Indigo Zap's Life Points: 8000-

Jack's Life Points: 8000-

Turn 1: Jack

"I'll start, I draw! I summon Battlin' Boxer Rib Gardna(800/1400) in defense mode." Out came a boxer as it did some moves and had a red chest plate. "Now I'll lay a card facedown and end my turn."

Turn 2: Indigo

"My turn, and time to send you packing like your little friends. I activate the field spell, F.A. Circuit Grand Prix!” A horizontal wave of energy shot out behind Indigo, leaving black asphalt on the ground behind it, steel-blue railings lining the edges. The wave turned and weaved up and down the walls of the stadium, tracing out a racing track along the edges of the field. The energy wave reached the start of the track behind Indigo and rippled out, creating a large circular pit zone around her.

"Next I’ll summon F.A. Sonic Meister(0/1000).” A horizontal portal appeared on the road behind Indigo. With a roar of an engine, a gleaming silver, blue, and orange race car sped out, two large rocket engines blazing on either side of a large central rear wheel behind the driver. The race car turned and moved into position next to her, the engines dying down.

"Great, here comes my worst enemy: math." groaned Rainbow as she starting to get a headache.

"How do you think I feel, now I'm gonna have to add and recount to relay the info for you guys." said Isaac as he had to inform the entire group on what current levels and effects Indigo's monsters would have at the given time.

"Your teach is right, kid. See while my F.A. Sonic Meister might start with 0 attack points, it has a kickass ability. They have attack power equal to their Level times three hundred.” Indigo held up four fingers. “Sonic Meister is Level 4, so that works out to twelve hundred attack points.” Sonic Meister’s driver grinned inside his helmet and revved his engine. “Next I’ll throw a card face-down and end my turn.” Indigo rolled her shoulders and slumped back. “Go for it.”

Turn 3: Jack

"My draw, and I'll summon my Battlin' Boxer Switchitter(1500/1400). And when using Battlin' Boxer Switchitter, he counts as 2 monsters. So now I'll overlay my Battlin' Boxer Switchitter so that I can build the Overlay Network!" Jack's monster then transformed into two orbs of light as they hovered in the air for a bit as a portal opened up in front of the boy. Soon the orbs entered the portal as a pillar of light emerged. "I Xyz Summon, Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke(2200/2000, OLU: 1)!" Out emerged one of Jack's strongest monsters as it had its fist all wrapped in chains and wood.

"That's your big play." scuffed Indigo. "Yeesh, seems that fire did damage your brain, it made you lose a few brains cells."

"I'm gonna punch her in the face." gritted Rainbow.

"Rainbow, calm yourself." warned Isaac.

"But she's insulting my student."

"And you don't think Jack can handle her?" asked Isaac to which Rainbow remained quiet for a bit as she saw her friend's point. "Trust in the boy."

"Alright." nodded the chromatic girl.

"By the way, I noticed that you called Jack 'your student'. Seems you're really taking this teacher role seriously."

"Shut up! I'm anything but a teacher, I'm cool." stated the girl. "I'm not an egghead like Twilight."

"Hey!!" shouted Twilight.

"Now I'll attack your Sonic Meister!" shouted Jack.

"Wait, don't do that!" shouted Rainbow as she tried to warn her student.

"Too late, Crash. Cause now I reveal my facedown, F.A. Downforce. This lets me increase the level of my Sonic Meister by two for the rest of the turn.” Sonic Meister’s engines lit up blue and began to rev louder. “Oh, and my Sonic Meister has an ability, too. When I activate an F.A. spell or trap card or its effect, it gains a level permanently.” Indigo held up her hand again, three fingers extended. “All in all, Sonic Meister is at Level 5 now, plus two for the rest of the turn, which means it’s attack points are at twenty-one hundred.”

"Either way, your monster is still destroyed." stated Jack.

"Confirmed, you're Rainbow's student. You're both stupid." stated Indigo. The smoke of the attack cleared, revealing Sonic Meister, engine still revving. "Cause Sonic Meister’s special ability – it can’t be destroyed in battle when it battles a monster with a lower level than it."

"But Jack's monster has a rank, not a level!" shouted Rainbow.

"That's not what I'm talking about, Dunce!" howled Indigo. "See, the effect of my Circuit Grand Prix field grants all F.A. monsters a boost of two levels during the battle phase. And now that he’s at Level 9, Sonic Meister has twenty-seven hundred points. Which means your monster is destroyed and you take damage!"
Jack's Life Points: 7500-

"My life points may have taken a hit, but my Lead Yoke has a cool ability of his own. By using one overlay unit, I can protect my monster from being destroyed and it gains 800 attack points." informed Jack. His monster then broke of its chains as its fist was released.

"I'll now end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 4: Indigo

"My turn!" Indigo drew and reached to her hand. “I’ll start this turn by summoning F.A. Whip Crosser(0/1000).” A portal opened behind Indigo. An armored blue and yellow motorbike rode out of it, the driver clad in armor of the same color scheme. He popped a wheelie and drove up beside Indigo before letting the wheel down. “Whip Crosser has similar abilities to my Sonic Meister,” Indigo said. “Namely, he has three hundred attack times his level, and he increases in level as I use F.A. spell and trap cards or effects.” She reached to her duel disk. “Like this one. I activate the effect of F.A. Downforce in my graveyard.” The image of Indigo’s card appeared above her and dissolved. “By banishing Downforce, I basically get its effect again, boosting my F.A. Sonic Meister two levels for this turn only. And since I activated the effect of an F.A. Spell card, they also get another permanent level gain.” Indigo held her hands out to gesture to her two monsters. “That means Sonic Meister is Level 8 for this turn, and Whip Crosser is Level 5.”

"Either way, your monsters' levels mean nothing since my Lead Yoke has a rank." stated Jack.

"True, but I still attack it. I switch Sonic Meister to defense mode, and then activate the spell card F.A. Test Run.” A computer console rose next to Sonic Meister, cables snaking out of the machinery and attaching to the car. “This card changes Sonic Meister back to attack mode, and then I get to destroy one card on the field. I choose to destroy your facedown." said Indigo as Jack's facedown exploded. "And by the way, just to make sure you’re still keeping up, that’s another F.A. Spell activated and another level on my monsters.” Indigo grinned. “I think we’ve built up enough speed now, so let’s see how they run! I enter my battle phase, and now the effect of my field spell gives my F.A. monsters another boost of two levels. F.A. Sonic Meister is now level 11 and has 3300 attack points, attack Battlin' Boxer Rib Gardna!” Sonic Meister revved up and sped off across the field, crashing through the guard rails of the pit stop. It drove into Rib Gardna, the fighter splaying out across the front of the car, and after driving another second, it screeched to a sudden halt. Rib Gardna flipped through the air and crashed into the wall of the stadium.

"I'm not done." Indigo’s duel disk beeped and ejected a card, which she picked up. “Once per turn, when an F.A. monster destroys a monster in battle, I get to draw a card due to the effect of my field spell. Oh, and since that’s an F.A. spell effect triggered, that’s another level booster! And one more thing, as long as it has a current Level of seven or higher, F.A. Sonic Meister can attack two monsters a turn! With the additional level, it gains another 300 points. Now my monster is level 12 and has 3600 attack points! Here comes the second lap!” Sonic Meister roared to life again and turned to drive at Lead Yoke. The car shot passed it, braked, and turned, and the rear end of the car slammed into Lead Yoke and sent it tumbling across the grass.
ack's Life Points: 6900-

"I reveal my facedown, Last Minute Substitution. Since I control an Xyz monster with no materials, I can attach one monster from my hand so that it becomes an overlay unit." said Jack as his Lead Yoke now had another overlay unit to use as the attack made contact. "Like before, I'll remove the last overlay unit, to make my Battlin' Boxer survive the attack and increase its attack by 800." said Jack as the last chain broke free of his monster.

“I end my turn with a facedown, and the spell boosting effects wear off of my monsters. So now my Sonic Meister is back to Level 8 and has 2400 attack points, and Whip Crosser is back to Level 7 and welding 2100 attack points. ” Sonic Meister and Whip Crosser glowed as their engines slowed.

Turn 5: Jack

"My draw, and now I summon Battlin' Boxer Headgeared(1000/1800) and when this guy is summoned, I can send a 'Battlin' Boxer' from my deck to my graveyard, so I'll send my Battlin' Boxer Big Bandage. Then I play the spell card, Battlin' Boxer Spirits, so I'll send the top card of my deck to the graveyard so that I can revive my Big Bandage. Next, I activate Big Bandage's effect so now all my 'Battlin' Boxers' gain the same level as one in my graveyard, so I'll choose my Battlin' Boxer Glassjaw to make Bandage Level 4. Then I overlay both Bandage and Headgeared to construct the Overlay Network." Jack's two monsters then turned into orbs of light as a portal opened up and they disappeared inside. "I Xyz Summon, Number 79: Battlin' Boxer Nova Kaiser(2300/1600, OLU: 2)!" Jack's new monster appeared as it clamped its fist together. "And my Nova Kaiser allows me to attach my Glassjaw to it, to gain another Xyz material to raise its attack by another 100 for each material so now it has 2600 attack points."

"Not bad." scoffed Indigo.

"Then to attack, Lead Yoke attack her Sonic Meister!" shouted Jack as his monster took out its target.
Indigo's Life Points: 6600-

"And now, Nova Kaiser will attack your Whip Crosser!"

"Now this time, Half-Unbreak. So now my Whip Crosser is safe, and I take half the damage." stated Indigo as she survived the attack.
Indigo's Life Points: 6500-

"Lucky, I'll end my turn."

Turn 6: Indigo

"Alright, this game's gone on long enough. Time to burn you up, kid. I draw!" said Indigo as she drew her card. "First things first, I activate the effect of my spell card, F.A. Test Run that's in my graveyard. By banishing Test Run, I can destroy a card on my field.” Indigo looked around as she made her choice. "Say goodbye to your Lead Yoke!" With that Jack's monster was now gone.

"Now since I used the effect of Test Run in my graveyard, my F.A. Whip Crosser gains a level. Then, the effect of Test Run lets me special summon an 'F.A.' monster from my deck. I summon F.A. Turbo Charger(0/1500).” A bright yellow portal opened on the track behind her and a massive monster truck rolled out, painted bright purple with glowing yellow exhaust pipes emerging from its hubcaps and the sides of its cabin. It rolled up next to Indigo, looming over her. "After, that I'm playing Pot of Greed to draw two more cards. Then I'll upgrade my field spell for this new one, I activate the Field Spell F.A. City Grand Prix!” Indigo slipped her card on her duel disk with a grin. A wave of energy rippled out from around her. City streets with painted crosswalks and streetlights traced around them, transparent holograms of scenic buildings rising up from the ground. When the field was completed, the streetlights simultaneously lit up green.

"This nifty spell gives all of my F.A. monsters a boost of two levels during both the Battle and Main Phases, and it prevents you from targeting them with effects. And that's another boosted level my monsters get for playing my field spell.”

"So, how strong are you monsters?" said Jack as he lost count of the levels of Indigo's monsters.

"Whip Crosser's level rises to 11 and now he has 3300 attack points! And Turbo Charger is level 9 and has 3000 attack! points. Now I'll play the spell card, F.A. Pit Stop thanks to this spell card, it allows me to reduce my Turbo Charge's level by two and draw a card. But since I activate an 'F.A.' spell, it'll gain back that level so it's now Level 8. Then I summon the tuner monster, F.A. Auto Navigator(0/0)." A small cylinder rolled out in front of Indigo and unfurled into a tablet computer. Its screen lit up, projecting the holographic image of a small woman in a pink dress with a parasol and bushy blue hair. Indigo looked down at the hologram. "Now I tune my Level 1 Auto Navigator with my Level 8 Turbo Charger!" Auto Navigator glowed green and separated into one giant glowing ring. Turbo Charger hovered higher into the air and glowed orange as the rings came along it, energy crackling between them. Indigo tilted her head back to look up at them, a hand above her duel disk. “I align the avatar of speed and the monster trunk of speed, and together they accelerate towards a titanic new form!” Her monster ejected from her duel disk and she seized it and placed it on the card tray. “I Synchro Summon! Roll out, F.A. Motorhome Transport(0/3000)!” The ground shook and the race track behind Indigo cracked apart and lifted into the air, revealing the doors of a lift platform built into the ground. The platform rose into Rainbow’s view, carrying a massive white truck, orange and blue stripes painted along the sides. Retracted ramps were built into the sides, and vehicle maintenance bays were visible through the windows. The truck ground to a halt, the cab hissing, and two large mechanical claws lifted out from the sides and clinked together.

"What... is that thing?" said Jack as he looked at the size of Indigo's new monster.

"F.A. Motorhome Transport has the same effect as my other F.A. racers, namely that his attack power is equal to its Level times three hundred. It’s currently Level 9, and then rises two more from my field spell. So now its level is 11 and its attack rises to 3300.” Motorhome Transport revved its engine and glowed orange. "Lastly, I'll play the spell card, Limiter Removal to double both of my monster's attack points until the end of the turn." Indigo then did a thumbs down to Jack, "Time to burn, kid. F.A. Whip Crosser attack his Nova Kaiser!" shouted the girl as her monster revved up its engines and took out Jack's last monster. "Now F.A. Motorhome Transport, steamroll him!!" shouted the girl as her last monster made contact and sent the boy on his back.

Winner: Indigo

"No way!" said Rainbow as she was shocked to see her student lose.

"Clean sweep." said Isaac as he now got on the platform and approached Indigo. "Good job."

"Of course." scoffed the girl as she met with her friends and they all exited the room.

Sometime later, Isaac was with the Shadowbolts alone in the room.

"You really believe the kids are gonna pass?" asked Indigo. "The way they dueled against us, they were weak."

"I knew you girls would win." said Isaac as his back was turned to them as he had his arms crossed.

"Then what's the point of us even battling if you already knew that." stated Sugarcoat bluntly.

"To give them a small preview of what their final exam will be." stated Isaac. "The kids now know what to expect when the Board of Education comes and they see the duels."

"So, we were nothing more than guinea pigs?" asked Sunny Flare.

"I didn't say that." smiled Isaac. "The kids still have a lot to learn and I still need to complete my final objectives."

"Glad I'm not in your shoes." said Lemon Zest.

"Well, you probably show look for better students, safe to say these fell short." responded Sour Sweet.

"Though real talk, we actually had fun." said Indigo as she step forward to look at Isaac. "We have not have shown it, but we did enjoy ourselves. Gotta say, Isaac. You got your work cut out for you; this and then you going pro after graduation. It's alot, but we five believe you can do. And hey, when you are a pro, be watchful of the five of us. Cause only one of us is going to be 'World Champion'." stated Indigo as she and the rest of the Shadowbolts all agreed.

"Well, there's only one person who'll be 'World Champion'. And that's gonna be me." smiled Isaac. "Good luck, girls. And I look forward to seeing you all in the pro circuit soon." Isaac then extended his hand as all the girls shook it with the boy and each wished him good luck with the students and the program.
