Chapter 115: Icon vs Icon

After saving the Crystal Empire, Shining Armor and Cadance had Spike write a report to Princess Celestia and Luna as they informed them about the mission being a success. Both rulers were pleased with that Twilight and her friends were able to stop the imposing threat from getting any worse. The Crystal Ponies were really grateful for the group in helping to keep their home safe. So to celebrate, they decided to throw a festival to show their appreciation, especially Spike. Seems Spike forgot to tell Isaac and Sunset that the Crystal Ponies viewed his a a hero/savior due to how he helped to put the Crystal Heart back in place. So the group spent a bit more time in the Crystal Empire as the power of the Crystal Heart shined and changed everypony's appearances so that their coat looked like it was actually made up of crystal.

"Nice!" said Sunset as she liked how she looked in her temporary form.

"That's some magic." said Isaac as he too was impressed with how he looked.

Soon the group all headed back to Ponyville. Shining Armor and Cadance walked the group to the train station as they said their goodbyes. Twilight gave her family a hug as she wished them the best and to inform her should any new updates arise regarding the baby. Both agreed to the purple alicorn's request; they then looked at Sunset and Isaac as they thanked them for helping in their time of need. Shining Armor even admitted that he was glad that there was somepony like Isaac to keep his sister safe, even if it was for the time being. So he gave Isaac a quick bro hoof as he wished him luck in his mission. The train then arrived as the entire group boarded the train and waved goodbye to the royal couple and the Crystal Empire as their train rode along the tracks and disappeared into a tunnel.

They all arrived back in Ponyville as nighttime was falling on the small town. The ride back had caused all of them to doze off for a bit, the train buckled a bit as it pulled into the station as it woke up everypony. Twilight had rubbed her eyes and found that she accidentally was leaning against Isaac during her nap. She quickly pulled away as a blush appeared on her cheeks as Isaac awoke. The gang then got off the train as they all did a quick high five as they congratulated themselves on a job well done. With that they all said goodbye as they each retreated to their separate homes.

After an adventure like that, everypony needed some relaxation. And it just so happen that Isaac was doing that as right now he was currently playing a game of chess against Twilight. Granted Isaac was a master tactician when it came to Duel Monsters, but Twilight had smarter wilts as she was beating Isaac. Now she wasn't exactly crushing him, as Isaac had played chess before, but given that Twilight was basically a genius it proved to be a tough challenge for Isaac. So often time, Isaac would take some time before he made his every move, while he was thinking, Twilight couldn't help but smile as she found it admirable seeing the colt not giving up.

"Alright, what to do..." said Isaac as he tapped his head with his hoof. "I think... I'll..." Isaac was trying to figure out which piece he should move that would help him. "I... move... my bishop to e5." said Isaac.

"Not bad, you made a solid move by taking out my knight. However, you left your right flank exposed. So, I'll just simply move my Queen to d4 and... checkmate." smiled Twilight.

"Oh come on." pouted Isaac.

"Don't be too upset, you lasted longer this time. Which means you're getting better with every game. But it also means something else." snickered Twilight.

"Yeah, yeah. So what will you make me do this time?" asked Isaac as he dreaded his punishment for losing.

"Hmm. Tough choice." Twilight then looked at Isaac as she started to walk over to his chair as she pulled him into a deep kiss.

Isaac was unprepared for this as he eventually leaned into the kiss. Twilight then took it a step further as the two were now in the chair Isaac sat in as she started to put her hooves on Isaac's chest as she felt his body with her wings. Isaac then brought his hooves to Twilight's body as he held the purple alicorn in his embrace as he rubbed her backside. Soon Twilight broke the kiss as she nuzzled her neck against Isaac's as both closed their eyes and let out a moan of pleasure. Their interaction ended as Twilight placed her head under Isaac's chin as they enjoyed each other's presence. After a couple of minutes, both ponies looked at each other as they had a smile on their faces.

"So, up for another game?" asked Twilight.

"How about we take a break? Besides, I just want to hold you." said Isaac.

"I was thinking the same thing." smiled the princess as she returned to snuggling next to her beloved knight.

The next couple of days was as laid back as they could be. During that time, Isaac and Sunset had helped their friends with their individual things. Fluttershy had need help to take care of several animals, so both ponies helped her out to make sure that the shy mare wasn't too overworked. Applejack needed her friends to help make and sell some cider; it was hard work, but in the end they had made plenty of cider. The only thing that proved to be a problem was trying to get Rainbow from drinking all of the cider as it proved to be an addiction of sorts for the chromatic pegasus. Pinkie needed some taste tasters for the new recipes she was planning to sell for Sugarcube Corner. Even Rarity required some assistance as she need Isaac to model for her as she wanted to create some new designs for stallions; of course, Spike accompanied the colt as he couldn't keep away from the white unicorn. Overall, it seemed that the group was being given some downtime as they fully deserved it.

One day, Twilight was doing creating some potions as it was one of her many things we did for fun besides reading books. As for Isaac, he served as the princess' assistance as he handed Twilight the things she needed while he just sat in a chair as he currently reading one of Spike's Power Ponies comics.

"Nice references of superheroes that are common in my world." said Isaac as he looked at each of the superheroes and figured out which ones they were mimicking.

"Isaac, pass me that vial." said Twilight as she was looking through a microscope.

Isaac looked to where Twilight was pointing as he picked up the vial with his magic and teleported it over to the princess. "Here you go."

"Thanks."

"So what's the potion you're working on?"

"Just something I've been working on since magic kindergarten." said Twilight.

Isaac then got up from his seat as he made his way over to the purple alicorn as she had just finish adding the last drop from another vial as it made contact with the other substances as it let out a tiny explosion of cloud.

"So what's in this stuff?" asked Isaac as he held the test-tube with his magic.

"Careful. It might be dangerous." said Twilight as she took the test-tube out of Isaac's magic.

"How? Does it turn you into a monster?"

"No." replied Twilight.

"Does it make you invisible?"

"No."

"Does it transform you into a hydra?" asked Isaac.

"Technically, that's a monster. So, no." responded Twilight.

Isaac then blinked at Twilight as he stared at her as a thought occurred in his mind. "Okay, I'm almost afraid to ask, but... is it a love potion?"

"No!" shouted Twilight in a quick response as she had some red on her cheeks. "It's none of those things."

"Then why is it dangerous?" asked the colt.

"Because..." said Twilight until she stopped herself. "I don't really know what it is."

"Woah, hold up. Rewind. You don't know what it is and you made it?" said Isaac.

"Yes, I did." said Twilight with some pride in her voice.

"But if you don't know what it is, then how do we know it's dangerous?"

"I don't." said Twilight as she had her hooves out.

"But... you made... it." said Isaac as he was at a lost for words.

Twilight just rolled her eyes. "Look, Isaac. In theory, it's suppose to be a talent enhancer. It should increase the pony's natural abilities by a significant amount. For example, if I drank it it would make my magic extremely powerful."

"What about me?"

"Well... in theory, your dexterity would increase as well as your physical strength and visual aptitude." stated Twilight as Isaac just looked at her. "In other words..."

"I understood what you said." stated the colt. "Seems even I can understand when you go into full nerd mode in this world."

"Don't call me that!" pouted the princess. "I don't mind Dash saying that, but not my best friend."

"Chill out, Twilight. I'm just having fun, plus you know you like it when I call you a nerd." smiled Isaac as he began to nibble a bit on the princess' mane as she felt a bit of blush on her cheeks.

"Alright, enough of that." said Twilight as she pushed Isaac away. "Time to put this thing away for safe keeping." Twilight then began to put the test-tube away, however, she failed to realize a vial had rolled onto the floor as she stepped on it and soon lost her balance as she slipped.

"I got you." said Isaac as he rushed over and caught Twilight in his fore hooves as he stopped her from hitting herself on the floor. "You okay." asked Isaac.

"Yeah, thanks for the catch. Wait, where's the potion?" asked Twilight.

Both ponies looked up and the test-tube was in the air, it spun in place for a bit as soon gravity did its thing. The object then came crashing down as it landed on Isaac who felt the liquid drop on his body. Soon Isaac felt the affects of Twilight's potion, but they weren't what she explained. Eventually, he soon found himself closing his eyes as he fell onto the floor.

"Isaac? Isaac!" called out Twilight as she was trying to see if her friend was okay. "Isaac! Say something?"

Isaac found himself as he was surrounded in darkness as he was drifting through space. Eventually he opened his eyes as the sun was beating down on him. "Where am I?" asked Isaac as he lifted his hand to block the sun's rays from making him go blind.

"Wait, I'm human?" asked Isaac as he looked at himself. It seems that wherever he was, he was now back in his human form as he was wearing his usual clothes. "Well, I'm not complaining. Though I think Twilight's spell might have been wrong; I don't feel any different."

Isaac then took a look around as he observed his surroundings. He saw a couple of tall buildings as they had many lights. There was also several highways towers that appeared as their were several blimps flying about. Isaac then saw the water in front of him as he could only assume that he was on a riverbank of sorts.

"Wonder where I am" Isaac then looked to his left as he saw a sign. "Welcome to Heartland City." said Isaac as he read it aloud. "Interesting, that name sounds familiar but I can't put my finger on it. Well, seeing as how I have nothing better to do, best start looking around." Isaac then got up as he started to explore his surroundings.

Eventually, Isaac began to walk along the sidewalk as he took in the sights. Safe to say he could sense this place was a peaceful city, not to mention that it had some major history. He kept on walking taking in everything, eventually, Isaac came upon a bridge as he decided to take a seat.

"Not bad of a place, still I need to find a way to escape whatever I'm in." said Isaac as he looked up at the sky. Just as Isaac was about to return to the place where he woke up, he managed to hear something.

"Been meaning to challenge you." said a voice.

Isaac then looked around and saw that it came from another bridge. Isaac then got up and he headed over to the source. He came upon the scene as he noticed a person who had duel disk and something on his eye.

"Been meaning to take my shot at you. Once I beat you, then I'll be the one people will be talking about." said the male.

"Yeah, well don't underestimate me. I'm not the World Duel Carnival Champion for nothing." said the boy's opponent.

"Be careful." shouted the girl behind the boy as she was concerned about her friend.

"Don't worry." said the boy as he gave her a thumbs up and a smile.

Isaac looked at the pair as he examined them. The girl had green hair, orange/hazel eyes. Her outfit consisted of a pink and fuchsia dress with her knee length socks and fuchsia shoes. She too also had something on her left eye. Her friend was a boy who had tan skin, red eyes, and black and red spiked hair that pointed out and upward. He wore a key of sorts around his neck that was be held by a black string. He too had a device over his left eye as it was white and yellow with a green lens. He wore a red vest with a white hood and a blue sleeveless shirt with a green "D" symbol; he also wore white pants with designs of three orange moon crescents attached to one another with yellow outlines at the bottom, a white brown-stripe belt, and black with blue streaks shoes with white straps. Other accessories included a brown fingerless glove on his left hand, a black protective pad on his right elbow and a thick, dark blue bracelet with light blue gems and red outlines on his right wrist.

"Hope you're ready to lose." stated the opponent.

'Not gonna happen. Cause I'm feeling the flow!!" shouted the boy as he was pumped. He then tossed something into the air. "Duel Disk go!" The object that was thrown into the air then began to morph as it changed and then combined with another device on the boy's arm. "Duel Gazer, let's roll!" said the boy as the device on his eye activated as well.

"Augmented reality vision link established." said the A.I.

Soon the entire field began to change, Isaac looked at his duel disk and it was responding to the change in his surroundings. Since it was the latest duel disk that everybody owned, it had a couple of features that even Isaac didn't know about. Like the fact that it allowed Isaac to see the duel without the use of a duel gazer. With that Isaac began to watch this duel as once the name of the participants came up, he was shocked to discover who one of them was.

???'s Life Points: 4000-

Yuma Tsukumo's Life Points: 4000-

"No way... is it really him?" asked Isaac as he was in awe.

Turn 1: ???

"I'm up first. So watch out." said the opponent. "To start, I'll summon Giant Solder of Stone in defense mode. Now whenever I normal summon a Level 4 monster, I can also summon Kagetokage(1100/1500) also in defense mode. Then I'll place one card facedown and end my turn."

Turn 2: Yuma

"Time to see what he can do." said Isaac as he watched from the sidelines with an intense stare.

"My move, I draw!" said Yuma. "To start, I'll activate the spell Parallel Unit. This card copies your monster, so I have a Giant Soldier of Stone of my own. Next, I'll activate Solid Overlay. This spell substitutes for a monster when I Xyz Summon. With these two cards, I build the Overlay Network." Soon both cards transformed into a pillar of light as a vortex opened up. "I Xyz Summon! Rise, Number 39: Utopia!" Out came giant warrior as it had the number 39 embedded on its left shoulder.

"No way! He managed to summon his ace." Isaac was amazed by what he was seeing from one of the members of the Big 4.

"Now, I activate Double Rank-Up Magic Utopia Force. With this spell, I summon two Xyz monsters that are higher in rank than Utopia, and then Utopia's two Overlay Units are divided among them." Soon two more vortexes appeared in the sky as each overlay unit disappeared into one of them. "First up is Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray Victory(2800/2500, OLU: 1). Followed by Number 39: Utopia Beyond(3000/2500, OLU: 1)."

"Incredible, he's got three Utopias!" said Isaac.

"But I'm not done. Utopia Ray Victory attack Giant Soldier of Stone with all your might." stated Yuma. "Rising Sun Double Victory Slash!" Utopia Ray Victory then leaped into the air as it unleashed a dual slash attack that took out Giant Soldier of Stone with ease.

"I play a trap, Call of the Haunted. So now my Giant Soldier of Stone is back in play." said Yuma's opponent.

"Not bad, cause now I'll have my Utopia Beyond take out your Kagetokage and have Utopia take out your Giant Soldier of Stone once more." Yuma's other two monsters then took to the field as they cleared his opponent of his monsters. "Next, I activate Rank-Up Magic Dark Force. When my Xyz monster destroys your monster in battle, I can send it to the graveyard to summon two new Xyz monsters with even higher ranks. So Utopia, make way for Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray V(2600/2000)! And Number 25: Force Focus(2800/2400)!" Yuma now had a total of four monsters on his field.

"Four monsters?" said Isaac as he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Time for one more trick, I activate Grave Chaos. Since Utopia was sent to the graveyard, I can summon a Chaos Xyz monster that has the same rank. Which means I summon another Utopia! Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray(2500/2000)!" stated Yuma as he had a field full of powerful monsters. "But why stop at four Utopias when I can have five? Utopia Beyond uses one Overlay Unit to banish Force Focus and bring Utopia back from the graveyard." Now Yuma had a field full of his best monsters as he looked to end this duel. "Lastly, I also gain life points equal to half of Utopia's 2500 attack points."
Yuma's Life Points: 5250-

"Yuma summoned five Utopias!" said the girl.

"Utopia Ray, attack him directly with Rising Sun Chaos Slash!" shouted Yuma as his monster unleashed a powerful attack. "And Utopia Ray V, finish this duel! Rising Sun Star Slash!!" With that Utopia Ray V then dealt the final blow to Yuma's opponent as he was thrown back and was down for the count.
Winner: Yuma Tsukumo (OTK)

The duel ended as everything returned to normal. With that Yuma took off his duel gazer as he looked at his opponent who was still down.

"Man, I wish he lasted longer." said Yuma with a pout.

"Great job, Yuma." said the girl as she raced to her friend and gave him a hug.

"Thanks. But I really couldn't have done it without you, Tori." smiled Yuma as he hugged her back.

Meanwhile, Isaac was watching from the sidelines as he was still trying to process what he witnessed.

"What did I just see? I've seen some impressive turns, but that was a whole another level. Now I know why he's considered a member of the Big 4." said Isaac as he saw Yuma. "I've done my fair share of Xyz summoning, but the energy, the flow, the passion. He made it seem effortless." Isaac saw the two of them as he couldn't help but smile. He decided to leave, but just as he turned to walk away, someone called him.

"Hey, hold on!"

Isaac turned around to see who was calling him and it was none other than Yuma himself. Seems before the duel started, he managed to get a sneak peak at Isaac standing there. Even while he was dueling, he was amazed that he could still see Isaac and vice versa without the use of a Duel Gazer. Safe to say, Isaac was an individual who caught Yuma's interest as they locked eyes with one another and the story was being told by their eyes.

"So, did you watch my duel?"

"Yeah." responded Isaac in a nonchalant tone.

"So.. what you'd think? I was awesome right, tell me I was awesome." stated Yuma with excitement.

"Knock it off." shouted Tori as she hit Yuma on the head to tone down his energy.

"I'll say, it definitely was something." said Isaac as he let out a smile.

"Come to think of it, I haven't seen you before. You new in town?"

"You could say that, I'm just passing by." Isaac then extended his hand out. "I'm Isaac."

"Cool name, Yuma Tsukumo." responded Yuma as he returned Isaac's handshake. "And this is my girlfriend, Tori Meadows."

"Hi there." said Tori as she extended her hand.

"Pleasure to me you." said Isaac as he shook Tori's hand. He then turned to the back of it as he planted a kiss on it. "Gotta admit, Yuma is one lucky guy to have a girl like you by his side."

"Finally, someone who agrees with me." stated Tori as she gave Yuma a dirty look.

"Okay, I get it." said Yuma. He then placed his arm around Tori as he gave her a smile as she forgave her boyfriend. "Anyways, I can tell you're a duelist. Based on that duel disk on your arm, but it's not like our duel disk. Cause you were able to see our duel without a duel gazer. So tell me, who gave it to you and where can I get one?" asked Yuma in excitement.

"Honestly, I didn't know it could do that." stated Isaac. "But if you're looking for one, well unfortunately, I can't help you on that front. This duel disk is from where I come from."

"And where's that?" asked Tori.

"It's kinda of a long story." stated Isaac.

"Well, we have nothing better to do." informed Yuma.

With that Isaac began to tell Yuma and Tori about where he was from as they were surprised. They never heard of Canterlot but based on Isaac's description, they could tell that it seemed to similar to their city of Heartland as it was filled with tons of energy and happiness. From there, the three of them began to talk about their own lives and the adventures they had. Safe to say that both boys were amazed by what the other had done as they couldn't help but contain their excitement. Eventually, all three of them made their way back to the riverbank that Isaac awoke as they all sat down and talked.

"So you had to save your school from some evil magic that infected your friend that caused her to turn into a raging she-demon. And it happened once more to your girlfriend during a school competition." stated Tori as she sat next to Yuma.

"Yup."

"Don't forget about him having to save an entire camp. And the fact that he took on 2 Egyptian God cards. Man, I heard about those things, but I've yet to see them with my own eyes." stated Yuma.

"You mean these?" said Isaac with a smug smile as he pulled out the cards. He then handed them to Yuma who was sitting next to him.

"You mean it? Woah." Yuma's eyes were filled with wonder at seeing such legendary cards

"Amazing." said Tori as she looked over her boyfriend's shoulder.

"Yeah, though I tend to refrain from using them in every duel. Not much fun if I constant rely on their power solely so that I can obtain victory." stated Isaac.

"I understand. It's how I feel when I'm using my Number cards, if my opponent doesn't have one, then I tend to refrain from using them, other than Utopia." Yuma then handed Isaac his cards back as they all looked at the water as the sun was starting to set as an orange color was appearing in the skyline.

"You know, it's these moments like this that make me appreciate all I've done and been through." said Yuma as he pulled Tori closer as she placed her head on his shoulder.

"I hear you." responded Isaac. "To think you've had your share of adventures. Collecting all the Number cards, becoming Duel Carnival Champion, saving Barian World, and you managed to make friends with all your enemies that you ever encountered. That only is impressive, as much as I believe that anybody could be friends through dueling. Sometimes, there are people who won't listen."

"Yeah, but that doesn't mean you can't have a good time." said Yuma. "It's like Astral said before he disappeared, dueling is a way for people to communicate. Through dueling, people talk heart-to-heart and deepen their bonds as friends. No matter how many times you get knocked down..."

"You get back up." said Isaac as he finished Yuma's sentence.

"You know it." Yuma then gave Isaac a thumbs up to which he returned one as well.

"Hey, you both mind answering me something? How do you both do it? With Yuma being a pro duelist, how does it affect your personal life?" asked Isaac.

"Well, it's not easy." stated Tori. "Ever since he was a kid, all Yuma could think about was dueling. Granted he sucked as he had no skills."

"I'm right here, you know." said Yuma as he was offended his own girlfriend would say that.

"But he never stopped giving up, and I think it's one of the many reasons why I had a crush on him. But more importantly, it was his desire to always get back up and continue to fight." said Tori as she looked at Yuma. "But as we've grown up and started our life together, I know that Yuma will never give up dueling. So we both agreed that as long as we support each other and always be there for one another, then our relationship will continue to grow. Even if sometimes we're far apart, as long as we think of each other."

"That's kind of sweet." said Isaac. "You're lucky to have her, Yuma."

"I am." replied Yuma as he gave Tori a quick peck.

Soon all of them returned to watching the sunset for a bit more as it offer tranquility and allowed for all three of them to put their mind at ease.

"Well, thanks for a great day, you two. I really enjoyed this." said Isaac as he stood up.

"You're welcome. And maybe next time, you could bring Twilight with you. So that way we could have a double date." stated Tori.

"Or a couples duel?" said Yuma with a fist bump. "Though Tori might need some practice."

"Yuma!" shouted Tori as she hit her boyfriend on the head.

"Well, Twilight is a pretty good duelist. But I think we might be down for that." said Isaac as he the couple a smile. "Well, nice meeting you." said Isaac as he turned to leave.

"Hold on! Are you really just going to leave?" asked Yuma as Isaac turned to look at him. "Come on, you know where this is going. And you didn't really think I take the chance? So... wanna duel?"

"Interesting." smiled Isaac.

"Think about, the World Duel Carnival Champion vs Canterlot High's Champion. That's a match of icon vs icon, generation v. generation. That's the type of duel that puts a smile on people's faces. So?"

Isaac was intrigued by Yuma's idea to say the least. He looked at Tori who just simply shrugged her shoulders as she knew she couldn't stop her boyfriend from his passion. So he looked back at Yuma and did his own fist bump. "Then, let's do this."

With that all three of them made their way to the bridge from earlier as they were about to have their battle. Yuma had already taken his position as he was doing a bit of stretches to get himself psyched. Isaac was on a nearby bench as he was going over some last minute additions to his deck. He knew he was about to engage in a duel against one of the Big 4, so he was doing his best to make sure that he was prepared. Especially, with how he saw how Yuma was able to wipe the floor with his opponent with ease from earlier. Isaac was checking and doubling checking as he knew he was going to be in one hell of duel.

"Alright, I've done all I can to prepare. Now time to see what happens." said Isaac.

"Remember, have fun." said Tori as she sat next to Isaac on the bench. "I've seen Yuma get excited for a duel, but this is the first in a long time that I've seen him ecstatic. in fact, he hasn't been this pumped since when Astral was with him. So, thanks Isaac. It warms my heart to see him so happy."

"Well, I didn't do much. We just happen to both love Duel Monsters." informed Isaac.

"I guess." giggled Tori.

"Hey, are we duelin' or what?" complained Yuma as he was raring to go.

"Guess this is it. Hope you won't get too mad, Tori. But I don't plan on losing this duel."

"Not at all, Isaac. Plus, it kind gives me joy to see Yuma get his butt handed to him. So between the two of us." Tori then whispered into Isaac's ear, "Kick his ass." said Tori as she pulled back with a smile.

Isaac returned one as he gave a nod and one final kiss to her hand. He then got up as he took his position across from Yuma as both duelist had a serious look on their faces. The battle between the two was about to take place as the wind blew in their direction. Tori watched from the bench as she was preparing to see her boyfriend and new companion get ready to duel. In her heart, she could see that Isaac was the type of duelist who could show Yuma a good time and vice-versa. Both boys just stared like two cowboys waiting to see who would make the first move.

"Ready?" asked Yuma.

"Always." stated Isaac.

"Good, cause I'm gonna high five the sky!" shouted Yuma as he tossed a piece of his duel disk in the air. "Duel Disk go!" It then transformed and combined with the other piece on his arm as it created his duel disk. "Duel Gazer, let's roll!" stated Yuma as his duel gazer was over his left eye and came online.

"Well, it's time to duel!" shouted Isaac as he activated his duel disk and projected a gold card tray. Both Yuma and Tori were impressed by Isaac's device.

"Augmented reality vision link established." said the A.I.

"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel." said their duel disks.

Turn 1: Yuma

"I'll start things off." said Yuma as he drew his card. "And get the show on the road with this... I summon Ganbara Knight(0/1800) in attack mode." Out came a warrior as it dropped from the sky and landed with a thud as it wielded dual shields on his arms.

"Huh?" said Isaac. Why would Yuma do that? Ganbara Knight is better off in defense, so why play it offensive? I know he's a legend, but even I know not to make a move like that? So what's he up to?

"Hey. Hope you're not nervous." said Yuma as he saw Isaac was in deep concentration.

"Of course not. It'll take a lot more than that to throw me off." stated Isaac.

"Good, cause I want to see what you're made of. Now then I'll play the spell, Zerozerock! Due to this card's effect, you can't attack monsters that are in attack mode with zero attack points!" stated Yuma.

"That's why." said Isaac. I'll admit, Yuma's good. He's doing a move that I would never have thought of. That alone shows just how vastly different our skills are. He's a master. Still, if I want to beat one of my inspirations and get one step closer to immortality, then I need to beat him.

"I end my turn, Isaac!" shouted Yuma. "So let's see what you can do."

Turn 2: Isaac

"I'm happy to show off what I've got in store right now!" said Isaac as he drew his card. "Now, I'll play Graceful Charity which allows me to draw 3 cards and discard two." Isaac then drew his cards as he had a smile on his face. "Then, I'll activate the effect of my Magician's Souls from my hand. So by sending my Apprentice Illusion Magician and Magician's Souls to the graveyard, I can bring back my ultimate monster. So appear, Dark Magician!" Isaac now had his ace wizard on the field as it descend onto the battlefield.

Both Tori and Yuma were in awe. They had been able to see Isaac's star monster when he showed them his deck, but now that they got to see Dark Magician in action, they could tell this was a force to be reckoned with.

"Hope you're ready, Mahad. This is one of the biggest fights we've been in." said Isaac.

"Then I will do my part, master." said Mahad.

"I look forward to seeing how you two work together." said Yuma as he could see Isaac talking with his monster. "I can sense your bond with him and it's strong. Right, Tori?"

"Yeah." responded Tori who could also see Isaac talking with his magician.

"Well, then I hope we don't disappoint." stated Isaac.

"That depends, how are you gonna get past my monster?"

"Like this, Dark Magician attack Ganbara Knight!"

"I don't think so! Due to Zerozerock's effect, since Ganbara Knight has zero attack points, you can't attack it!"

"Don't be so sure! Cause from I'm activating an effect from my grave, since I sent my Seer Warlock to the graveyard. I can banish him and for the rest of the turn two of your cards lose their effect. However, a monster on my side of the field has to lose half of its attack points." said Isaac. "And I choose Ganbara Knight and Zerozerock!" Soon Isaac's magician from the graveyard appeared in spirit form as he pointed his wand and casted a spell that nullified Yuma's cards.

"Very impressive." said Yuma with a smile.

"Not only did Isaac manage to summon out his monster, but he neutralized Yuma's defense and he did them both in the same turn!" stated Tori as she was amazed by the move Isaac did. "Now the question is: how does Yuma respond?" she said with a smile on her face.

"Now Dark Magician attack Ganbara Knight! Dark Magic Attack!" shouted Isaac. Dark Magician then pointed its wand at Ganbara Knight as it took the monster out with ease. Despite being at half of its strength, Yuma still felt the full effect of the attack as he was thrown onto his back.
Yuma's Life Points: 2750-

"Wow, I did it. I managed to actually land a hit against Yuma." said Isaac to himself. The rush of the attack and the adrenaline was kicking in as he couldn't contain his excitement. "Oh, yeah!" shouted Isaac as he jumped into the air with a fist pump.

"Yuma, you're not giving up, are you?" shouted Tori.

"Nah... he just got lucky..." said Yuma as he tried to regain his composure. Though real, he did that of his own accord. Isaac's got skill and I'm glad to have this duel with him. Yuma then did a kip up as he was back on his feet and looked at his opponent. "Not bad. Not bad at all! But this duel is far from over!" smiled Yuma.

"Glad to see we're both having fun. Now I'll activate another card, the continuous spell card, Battle Gravity! Now during the end of the battle, if we have monsters that didn't attack then that person takes 1000 points of damage." stated Isaac. "How's that for some excitement?"

"Totally speaking my language. It just means that I get to battle your Dark Magician a whole lot more. And who wouldn't want that?" shouted Yuma as he was excited.

"I'll place one card facedown and end my turn. And since my turn is through, my Seer Warlock's effect ends, so Dark Magician attack points, as well as your Zerozerock's effect return to normal."

Turn 3: Yuma

"This is what dueling's all about." said Yuma as he looked at Isaac. "You make a move, then I try to outdo it... Dueling's loads of fun, huh?"

"Couldn't agree more." stated Isaac. "Trust in the cards."

"Right! Not only is it a great feeling, but it'll up your game too!"

"He's right." chimed in Tori.

"Feeling the flow is what I live by. What matters is having fun! Winning just happens that way... And maybe you'll make a new friend too."

"I already have." smiled Isaac. "But don't think that I'm gonna lie down and let you win, Yuma. Cause I plan to beat you."

"No way that's happening!" snickered Yuma. "'Cause I'm feeling the flow! My turn, I draw! And I'm summoning out Goblindbergh(1400/0)! When Goblindbergh is successfully summoned, I can summon another monster from my hand! And here it is, Gagaga Magician!"

"Here it comes." said Isaac as he prepared himself.

"Next, I overlay my Goblindbergh and Gagaga Magician! With these two monsters, I build the Overlay Network. And Xyz Summon Number 39: Utopia!" Yuma now had his ace monster on the field as it looked to do battle with Isaac's ace magician.

"Win this!" cheered Tori.

"I knew it wouldn't be long before he summoned his Number!" muttered Isaac.

"Now Utopia, attack Dark Magician!"

Why do that? Both of our monsters have the same attack points, so they'll both be destroyed. Unless...

"Now I use one Overlay Unit to stop Utopia's attack!"

"What? If you do that then you'll take 1000 points of damage." informed Isaac.

"No, cause I'm not through... I activate the spell Flash Effect! Since Utopia used its special ability, it not only gains 800 attack points, but all monsters lose their special abilities!"

"Wait, what! But is that happens?"

"Oh yeah! That means Utopia powers up to 3300 attack points! And Utopia loses his special abilities! Which means, Utopia's attack continues, however this time it's packing some extra power! And now, Utopia, attack Dark Magician!" shouted Yuma as he gave his monster its command.

"I activate my facedown, the trap Battle Simulation! Now both our monsters' attack points are cut in half! And neither can be destroyed in battle!" said Isaac as his card lowered the strength of both monsters.

"One more thing..." smiled Yuma smugly.

"Uh-oh." said Isaac with a worry expression.

"I activate the spell Double Bind! And this card spells double the trouble for you, because it doubles Utopia's attack points! And that's not all, your Battle Simulation comes to an end and Dark Magician can be destroyed!" Utopia's attack then rose to 3300 as it looked to take out Isaac's magician.

"Bring it on, Yuma!" shouted Isaac as he prepared himself.

"Let 'em have it, Utopia! Attack with Rising Sun Slash!" commanded Yuma. Utopia then raised its sword up high as it brought it down with a streak of sunlight as it took out Dark Magician. Now it was Isaac's turn to feel the effects of Yuma's attack as it caused him to be thrown onto his back.
Isaac's Life Points: 2050-

"Now the effects of all traps and spells end and Utopia's attack points and special abilities return to normal. Now I'll just place one card facedown and end my turn!" stated Yuma. "Aw yeah!" Yuma then did a backflip in excitement as he felt the rush. "That wasn't just awesome! It was awesomely awesome!"

"Good job, Yuma!" cheered Tori.

Isaac then sat up as he saw Yuma celebrating. He really is quite remarkable. No matter how many times he's knocked to the floor... he always jumps right up again and gets back to dueling... even though it usually means falling down all over again. And that attack, that move. He's something else; if you gave me all the time in the world, I would never have done what Yuma just did. Let alone replicate that same move. He can see and do plays that I would never think of. That's why he's earned the right of being one of the members of the Big 4.

Turn 4: Isaac

"My turn. I draw! To start, I'll play Pot of Greed so that I can draw two cards. Next, I'll play my Seeker Wisdom spell card. With this I'm allowed to summon a pair of magicians from my deck or hand to the field, however, not only are their effects negated, but their defense points are zero and can't change position. So from my deck, I call upon two Magician of Dark Illusions." Isaac now had two more monsters on his field as he prepared to make his next move.

"So, are you gonna do it?" asked Yuma with a smile.

"You know it. Let's see how you judge my Xyz summoning, I overlay my two Level 7 Magician of Dark Illusions. With these two monsters, I build the Overlay Network." Both of Isaac's magicians then transformed into dark purple lights as a vortex in the ground opened up and they were sucked in as a new monster was being born. "I Xyz Summon, Ebon Illusion Magician!" Out came a powerful magician as it had its Xyz materials circling around it.

"Incredible. Never seen that monster before." stated Yuma.

"Don't get too excited, cause I'm not through. Next, I'll play another spell, Divination of Arts. Thanks to this I can be able to not only drop the attack points of your Utopia to 0, but all cards on the field lose their effects till the end of the turn." Isaac's card then began to glow as it shot out multiple lights that affected their monsters and facedowns as they lost a bit of their power.

"Utopia's special abilities are gone?" said Yuma in shock.

"Which means, your Zerozerock won't matter. So Ebon Illusion Magician, take out Utopia!" shouted Isaac. Ebon Illusion Magician then pointed it staff at Utopia as it took it out and sent another breeze that caused Yuma to be thrown for a loop.
Yuma's Life Points: 250-

I'm this close to beating him, just got to last a bit longer. "I end my turn, your move."

Turn 5: Yuma

Yuma had got to one knee as he looked at Isaac. Safe to say that as a master of Xyz summoning, he was more than pleased with how Isaac was able to handle it. Not to mention he was actually giving him a hard fought fight. He then stood up as he dusted himself off.

"Isaac, you better watch out 'cause I'm feeling a comeback kicking in. And I'll back that up, by taking you down!" smiled the boy. "My turn, I draw! I activate the spell, Card of Spell Containment. This means I can draw two cards. And that's gonna add up to double the trouble for you." said Yuma as he picked up his cards as he looked at them and saw his next move. "Yes! I summon Gagaga Caesar(1800/600)! When I have a 'Gagaga' monster on my field, I'm allowed to summon Gagaga Clerk(400/800)! It's time to kick this Gagaga party into gear. I'll activate Gagaga Caesar's special ability. By banishing one monster from my graveyard the Levels of all my monsters become the same as it. This way by banishing Level 4 Ganbara Knight, Gagaga Caesar and Clerk become Level 4!"

"He now has two Level 4 monsters which means..." stated Isaac.

"I overlay Level 4 Gagaga Caesar and Gagaga Clerk!" The two monsters turned black and came together, light shining from them. Yuma’s duel disk gleamed as he held it up, his other hand over it. He brought the card out of his duel disk with a flourish. "With these two monsters, I build the Overlay Network and Xyz Summon, reign over this battlefield, Heroic Champion Excalibur(2000/2000, OLU: 2)!" The ground shook and then erupted outward. A warrior in bulky silver and dark red armor leapt up onto the field, a massive broadsword held in the air. It landed, light rippling off spikes on its shoulders and helmet, and gripped the blade with two hands, holding it steady. Twin orbs of purple light circled it, pulsing.

"This is gonna hurt." said Isaac.

"Now Excalibur attack Ebon Illusion Magician! I use Excalibur's special ability. By using all my Overlay Units, Excalibur's attack points are doubled till the end of my turn."

"4000 attack points?" said Isaac as he was bit scared.

"Bingo. Go Excalibur, attack with Double Shock Sword Slash." Yuma's monster then lifted its sword as it brought it down on Isaac's magician as it cut him in half as it resulted in an explosion that caused Isaac to hit the ground and tumble a bit.
Isaac's Life Points: 450-

"Now they're about even." said Tori.

"Is... that... all you got?" asked Isaac as he willed himself to get back on his feet and look at Yuma with a smile.

"Not even close, but now I end my turn." responded Yuma with a smile of his own.

"It looks Yuma and Isaac are having the time of their lives." stated Tori as she saw how ecstatic the two boys were.

Turn 6: Isaac

"Here I go, my turn, I draw! I activate the Miasma Γ spell card. I can equip this to bring back a monster from my graveyard in attack position, however if it has any special abilities then it loses those and 400 of its attack points in battle. Welcome back, Dark Magician!" said Isaac as he had his ace monster back.

"This duel just got a whole lot tougher. Which means it got a whole more fun too." stated Yuma.

"Dark Magician, attack Excalibur! Go Dark Magic Attack!" shouted Isaac. Dark Magician then pointed it wand as it took out Yuma's monster as he was thrown onto his back once again from the brute of the attack.
Yuma's Life Points: 150-

"Yuma!" shouted Tori as she was concerned for her boyfriend.

"Now that that's over. Dark Magician's attack points return to normal. I'll place one card facedown and end my turn."

Turn 7: Yuma

"Alley-Oop." stated Yuma as he did another flip to get back on his feet. "Nice move. But I've got a few of my own. Get ready."

"Count on it, Yuma."

"My turn. I activate Gagagadraw! By banishing three Gagaga monsters from my graveyard I can draw two cards. Here goes." said Yuma as he drew from his deck. "Ha. One of those cards was the spell Xyz Revival. It lets me bring an Xyz monster back from my graveyard. So are you scared?"

"Not at all, I know which monster you're gonna bring back." answered Isaac.

"I just do what works Isaac. And I know this'll do it. Come on back, Utopia."

"So how do you plan on taking down my Dark Magician? They both have the same attack points."

"That's about to change. Go! Chaos Xyz Evolution. Appear, Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray." Utopia then began to transform itself as it changed into an even more powerful monster. "Seeing as how I have Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray on my field, let me put it to work. Isaac, get ready 'cause now I'm activating Utopia Ray's special ability. Overlay Charge. By using one Overlay Unit, Utopia Ray gains 500 attack points this turn. But don't think I forgot about your monster. Dark Magician loses 1000 attack points."

"No!" said Isaac.

"The stage is now set for my monster to take down yours. Go Utopia Ray, attack his Dark Magician with Rising Sun Chaos Slash!" shouted Yuma as his monster closed in on winning the duel.

Got to time this right. Isaac saw the attack coming at him as his magician was hit by the attack. "I activate the other effect of Miasma Γ. By sending this card to the graveyard, my Dark Magician isn't destroyed."

"Well, yeah, but you still take damage. So you lose... Huh?"

Yuma's attack had caused smoke to appear. Soon it disappeared as standing there was Dark Magician and Isaac who had fallen to a knee. But the major thing that shocked Yuma was that Isaac's life points remained the same.

"Expecting me to go somewhere?"

"Hey, what gives?"

"What gives is that since my Dark Magician is no longer equipped with Miasma Γ, it loses all of its attack points."

"Then why didn't Isaac lose life points?" asked Tori.

"Cause it's thanks to you, Yuma. Or should I say your card."

"Or course, my Zerozerock's effect. So... it's all cause of me?"

"Well, yeah. To be honest, I owe my move all to you. Now neither of us can attack a monster with 0 attack points. And so Utopia Ray's attack was cancelled out."

"This is bad!" said Tori.

"But it gets far worse. Remember my spell Battle Gravity? Since Utopia didn't attack, you take 1000 points of damage."

"I don't think so. I activate Dimension Gate. This trap allows me to banish Utopia Ray. And since I can't attack you, your Battle Gravity won't deal me any damage. I place one card facedown and end my turn."

"Man, what a move." shouted Isaac. "You really are a master; you were able to find a way to protect yourself even I used your own card's effect against you."

"Thanks, but I gotta give props to you. You managed to use your own cards and be able to swing the tide of the duel in your favor and rendered my attack useless. You got skills and I can see you're a phenomenal duelist. And I'm glad to have had the opportunity to share the duel field with you." responded Yuma as he gave Isaac his respect.

Safe to say Yuma's comment hit Isaac in the heart as he felt a few tears form in his eyes. He quickly wiped them as he looked back at the boy. "Thanks, that means a lot coming from you. Yuma, I promise to make you proud and all the others."

"Right on."

Turn 8: Isaac

"Then it's time I take this home. Cause I'm feeling the flow!" shouted Isaac as he drew his card which was surrounded in a white light. "Here we go! Now I'll play my Second Chance spell card, with this I can revive a monster in my graveyard. So I bring back my Magician of Dark Illusion and the best part about my Second Chance is that it allows my magician to count as two monsters." Isaac now had three magicians that were all the same level.

"Here it comes." stated Yuma.

Isaac closed his eyes as he could feel the power flowing through him. "Now, I overlay my Dark Magician with my two Magician of Dark Illusions! With these three monsters, I build the Overlay Network!" All three monsters then turned into purple lights as a vortex opened up in the ground as they all were sucked in. Soon a card manifested in front of Isaac as it glowed in a white light. He then grabbed it as it became clear and had the image of his new monster. "Show the world the wizardry and wonder, I Xyz Summon, Chaos Mageía(3000/2500, OLU: 3)!" Out emerged from the portal a brand new monster. It was a sorceress who had long flowing red hair with vanilla skin tone. She wore an emerald necklace and had white gloves that covered her smooth hands. Her outfit consisted of light blue dress that stopped at her knees; she wore black heels that weren't too high, as well as earrings that matched her necklace. She did a quick twirl for all to see as bits of magical particles surrounded her as it made her look even more beauty.

"Amazing!" said both Tori and Yuma as they were amazed at Isaac being able to summon a new monster.

Chaos Mageía descended on the battle field as she got a chance to see Isaac. Isaac didn't say much other than a smile to which his magician did the same. With the bond formed between the two, Chaos Mageía blew a kiss in Isaac's direction as she snapped her fingers and a short staff appeared in her hands as she looked to serve her duty to Isaac.

"Since I used Second Chance to summon my new monster, it loses 500 attack points. But even then, it's still just enough to finish this duel."

"Then what are you waiting for? Take your best shot." taunted Yuma.

"Now, Chaos Mageía attack him directly. Divinity Arrow!" Chaos Mageía then had an arrow appear in front of her as her want transformed into a bow. She then pulled back on the string as she had her targets in her sights, she gave a quick wink as she let the arrow fly. It started to travel at fast speeds as it was soon surrounded in a golden light as it raced across the air.

"Come on, Yuma!" shouted Tori as she cheered that her boyfriend had a plan.

"Not so fast, Isaac. Because now I send Dimension Gate to the graveyard."

"Huh?!" shouted Isaac as he wasn't expecting that.

"By doing that, it lets me re-summon the monster it banished. And you remember which monster that was don't ya?" Isaac's eyes widen at hearing Yuma's questions. "Utopia Ray!" Soon the ground opened up as out came Yuma's monster as it was now in the path of Isaac's attack. "And since Utopia Ray and Chaos Mageía have equal attack points, they'll both be destroyed." Utopia Ray then used its swords as he shot out a beam of energy that struck Isaac's sorceress as both were destroyed and a huge explosion occurred that caused both of the boys to cover up and stand their ground.

"I'm feeling the flow!" shouted Yuma. "And I'll prove it by activating my final facedown, Xyz Double Back! When my Xyz Monster is destroyed, I can summon it back along with one other monster from my graveyard that has equal or fewer attack points."

"What?" shouted Isaac.

"Return to the field, Utopia and Utopia Ray." Soon a portal opened up in the sky as Yuma's two monsters descended onto his field as they looked to bring the win for their master. "Hate to say it, Isaac. But it seems that I've won." stated Yuma.

Soon another portal opened up as this time out came Ebon Illusion Magician and Chaos Mageía as they reappeared on Isaac's side of the field.

"What? How is this possible? You got both of your magicians back?" Yuma then looked over at Isaac who was breathing heavily as that last attack nearly drained him of his strength, but at the last possible second, Isaac found the courage to play his final card.

"I... managed... to play my card." Isaac showed his card as it flipped over for Yuma and Tori to see as they both gasped. "Look familiar, Yuma. I used my own Xyz Double Back spell card. And as you know, it allows me to summon my Chaos Mageía back to the field along with another monster that has equal or fewer attack points." stated Isaac as he got back up to his feet.

"That means..." said Tori softly.

Yuma finally realized what was about to happen. For a split second he didn't say anything, but then he started to make a sound. It was the sound of him applauding Isaac. "Good job. You dueled well and now you're the winner. I mean it when I say this, you've earned my respect and my praise."

"Thank you." said Isaac as he took a deep breath. "Now Chaos Mageía attack his Utopia with Divinity Arrow!" shouted Isaac as he gave his sorceress her final command. Chaos Mageía shot her final arrow as it traveled at the speed of light and collided with Utopia as it exploded and signaled the end of the duel as Yuma took the attack and was thrown back.
Yuma's Life Points: 0-

The duel ended as the only sound was a clock ringing as the sun was just going down over the horizon. Isaac stood there with his mouth open in disbelief, he then dropped to his knees as he let out signs of exhaustion. He then looked at his hands as he could see they were shaking, not from fear, but of shock.

"I... I... won." said Isaac to himself. "I actually dueled against one of the Big 4 and won." The realization hit Isaac hard as he could feel the tears starting to form as he couldn't hold it back anymore. He then placed both of his hands on the floor as he cried tears of happiness.

"Yuma, you okay?" asked Tori as she was bent over checking on her boyfriend.

"Yeah, I think." said Yuma as he sat up and rubbed his head. "How-- how I'd do?"

"Okay, for losing?" said Tori with a smug smile.

"No need to rub it in." pouted Yuma.

Tori just let out a laugh as she gave him a quick peck on the lips. She then helped him up as they both looked across the field. Isaac was still trying to process what happened that he didn't notice the two of them approach him. Soon he looked up as he saw Yuma standing over him and offering his hand. Isaac still had tears in his eyes as he saw the display of respect being shown to him by one of his inspirations. He then wiped his tears as he took Yuma's hand and stood up. They stood up not once breaking the handshake or eye contact from each other as they stared.

"You did good."

"Thanks."

"You're definitely ready. Remember this experience and use it to help make your dueling that much better." said Yuma as he broke the handshake. "You've got what it takes, Isaac. And I'm proud to have faced you, the future is now in your hands. Make the most of it."

"I will."

Yuma then put his fist out, Isaac then did the same as both knuckles touched. "I'll see you around, buddy."

"Yuma, Tori. Thanks for everything." smiled Isaac as he looked at the happy couple. Soon his body started to slowly disappear as he felt his time was up. Isaac gave them one final nod as he was now gone; he found himself traveling in darkness as he floated with his eyes closed. He didn't know where he was going, but he was being drawn to someone calling his voice. It soon got louder as a bright light appeared and surrounded Isaac.

"Isaac? You okay?" said a voice.

Isaac opened his eyes as his field of vision was coming to him. He saw that the voice belonged to Twilight who was towering over Isaac as she had been checking on her friend ever since he got knocked in the head with her test-tube and spill the contents of her potion all over him.

"You okay?" asked Twilight.

"I think so." said Isaac as he tried to sit up only for the princess to tackle him back to the floor as she pulled the colt into a tight hug.

"I was worried about you."

"Okay, I'm fine. Can you let me go, I can't breath?" said Isaac as he felt the air get squeezed out of his lungs.

"Sorry. I was just scared. I've been trying to wake you up for the past few minutes. Apparently, I looked back at my notes and it turns out I added the wrong ingredient. So it wasn't the talent enhancer that I thought, but a whole different potion."

"Which was?"

"I dunno know." said Twilight.

"Well, whatever it was. I'm kind of glad." smiled Isaac. He then used his magic as he took out his deck from his saddle bag on his side. He then flipped over some cards and sure enough there was his Chaos Mageía as she gave a quick wink to Isaac as he now had a new friend to add to his deck. But not just any new friend, this one was formed from the bond he now had with one of the Big 4.

That was a pretty nice surprise in seeing Yuma appearing and dueling and such.
Along with referencing Yuma's final duels with Astral and Kaito there.

"But I'm not done. Utopia Ray Victory attack Giant Soldier of Stone with all your might." stated Yuma. "Rising Sun Double Victory Slash!" Utopia Ray Victory then leaped into the air as it unleashed a dual slash attack that took out Shield Wing with ease.

Anyway, which duels might be next?
If Spike actually duels in this arc via duel disks, really hope he ultimately doesn't lost.
