Chapter 32: A Magician's Return

After their demonstration at Everton High, the Canterlot High group had returned back to their hotel. The following day was the final day for the Canterlot group as they were preparing to head back to their school/city. Prior to them leaving, Isaac had been approached by some Everton High students who had taken an interest in his performance with their principal. They all admitted that they didn't think he would last long seeing as he was from Canterlot High, but after that duel their opinions on him and the school were changed. They also wanted to see his ace monsters, so he showed them his Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl. They were all amazed to see such cards; they even asked Isaac if he was willing to trade them for a whole bunch of other cards. Isaac however told them that his cards weren't for sale and that he would never trade them no matter how many cards he was offered. They understood and just gave him their best wishes as he was leaving.

With that everybody got on board as they prepared to head back. Celestia and Isaac were giving Mr. Turner some parting words as they thanked him for everything. They then got on the bus and everyone waved goodbye as they departed. Isaac took a chance to look at the card Mr. Turner gave him; other than it being a Synchro monster there was some unique abilities that it had. Thankfully, if Isaac used his Dark Magician as Synchro Material then it would count as a level 6 instead of level 7. With that he began to formulate the many plays he could make and saw how well it would work in his deck, ultimately Isaac couldn't wait to try his new card out.

The ride to the school was just as long as it was to get there. It gave Isaac the time he needed to access his deck. In terms of his extra deck, he now had an Xyz monster, a couple of Fusion monsters, and now he had Synchro monster. With that Isaac now had a card for each summoning method; not to mention that he also had a few ritual monsters that he had yet to introduce to the others. It seemed now Isaac had a complete set that revolved around his ace monster. Isaac just continued to look out the window and eventually he was soon like everybody else fast asleep. They arrived at school were they all grabbed their bags and then went home.

Isaac was in his room as he was looking at his phone. Apart from the video he received from Applejack who recorded him pranking Rainbow Dash. He also got a recording of his duel with Mr. Turner thanks to Sunset and he was looking it over to see his performance from another perspective. Ultimately, he still couldn't believe that he found a new way to play Duel Monsters and hoped that Mr. Turner's project would be successful that it could be viable in the near future. With that Isaac got ready for bed as he prepared himself for school tomorrow.

The next day at school, Celestia had made a public announcement and this time it was about the upcoming Winter Ball that was coming up. As always Celestia encouraged the students to do their best in their classes, in addition, there would be a mini tournament that would be held in the weeks prior to determine who would face Isaac as his opponent in the event. The people who would be participating in the tournament would be based on their ranking; safe to say there would be a lot of people trying to qualify. The theme for this ball was more of a colonial setting which meant that everybody attending would be wearing stuff that our forefathers would have wore in the olden days. (For context, just picture the American Revolution. That's the kind of clothing I'm talking about.) With that the stage was set and a lot of people would be ecstatic. Of course, that meant Isaac would need to pay close attention to who was in and scout his competition.

As Isaac was making his way to Ms. Cheerilee's class, he ran into someone who he hadn't seen in a long while. "Well another dueling event is coming up, which means another chance for me to duel. Just wonder who's going to be my opponent this time?"

"Perhaps I can answer that. It's obviously going to be moi, The Great and Powerful Trixie." Trixie had appeared after throwing a smoke bomb and appeared in front of Isaac as she took a bow.

"Hey Trixie. It's been a while."

"Likewise, and in terms of who you'll be facing is there no one more qualified than me." Trixie batted her eyes at Isaac.

"Well, I mean..."

"Don't you dare say anything! I was joking but you had to take all the fun out of it!" Trixie gave Isaac a pouting face as her response had backfired. This caused Isaac to let out a small laugh.

"Relax, I'm just messing with you Trixs. Honestly, how have you've been? Any improvements since we last talked?"

"Well Trixie will let you know that since we last talked, yes, I've been making improvements to myself and my deck. In addition, I wanted to see you. Like you said, the last time we talked to each other was before the Fall Formal and when you qualified to get to the finals. Since then I've watched you from a distance to see if you would keep your promise and you did; you defeated Sunset and became champion. Then you've gone on to have a good run, especially with your performance yesterday at Everton. Safe to say that whoever you face at the Winter Ball is going to have their work cut out."

"Nice of you to sum all that has happened so far. But you're right about this Winter Ball thing, I'll be facing someone. In terms of who I want it to be; I really don't mind. I just want to have a good time. So what's your reason for bumping into me?"

"Straight to the point, Trixie likes that about you. I want to test my new deck against you. See it took me awhile to finally gain the respect of my deck and myself, but I feel like the only way I'll know for sure is if I face you in a duel. This will Trixie's ultimate test to see if she's ready to move on. So care to grant my request?"

Isaac looked at Trixie for a second as he pondered her request. From what he saw, Trixie's eyes glowed liked she had found some new respect for her deck. It was like she finally understood the heart of the cards. In the end, Isaac agreed to her request and said that they would duel after school. With that Trixie used a smoke bomb and disappeared which left Isaac by himself. He then continued to his destination.

Isaac made it to Ms. Cheerilee's class and when he got there, he was bombarded by the questions he received form the little kids. They had heard about his trip to Everton High and the only thing they heard was him being engaged in a duel and summoning using a new method. Isaac told him the details and they were interested in whatever 'Dimension Summoning' was. Thankfully, Celestia had gotten a copy of the duel and gave it to Ms. Cheerilee to share with the rest of the of her class. So with that the entire class was resorted to watching Isaac's duel.

"I play the spell Dark Burning Attack, now since I control both Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl I can destroy every card you have on the field... I'll reveal my second facedown Dark Magic Twin Burst now my Dark Magician Girl boosts my Dark Magician by her attack points.

Mr. Turner was getting a bit more nervous but he still tried to hold a firm face. "Even with that power up, I'll still have some life points left."

"Then my last facedown will make sure that I do end this, I reveal my final card Dark Spiral Force. Now thanks to this force, I can select a monster on my field and double its attack! Which means, it's game over!" Isaac had a smug look on his face.

"No! There's no way!!"

"Now Dark Magician attack with Dark Magic Attack!"

Once the video ended, all the students had huge smiles on their faces as they all had big eyes. Safe to say that duel was something that had captured their imaginations and filled their hearts full of joy. The rest of the time was spent with Isaac teaching them their lesson for the day. After that the rest of his day went by as normal and soon he made his way to the back of the school where he promised to meet Trixie. He saw her waiting for him and made his way over.

"So you actually came?"

"Of course, I never back down from a challenge. Ready to do this?"

"Ready as I'll ever be."

It was just the two of them. Nobody around and no one in sight. Trixie wanted to see how much improvement she made since her last encounter and the only way to know for sure is to see how she did against Isaac. With that they both activated their duel disk and slotted in their decks.

"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel." said the voice of their duel disks.

"Let's duel!" they both said.

Trixie's Life Points: 8000-

Isaac's Life Points: 8000-

Turn 1: Isaac

"I'll start you off easy, Trixie. Draw. I'll play Breaker the Magical Warrior in attack mode. I'll then set a card facedown."

Turn 2: Trixie

"Thanks for the opener; now time to show you what I can do. I'll play my Arcana Force I- The Magician(1100/1100) in defense mode. Now I activate my monster's ability, when it's summoned I toss a coin. If it's heads, I can double my monster's attack whenever a spell card is played until the end of the turn. If it's tails, then you gain 500 life points." A coin then appeared in front of Trixie to which she grabbed it and tossed it high into the air.

"Call it, Isaac."

"Tails."

The coin then landed in Trixie's hand and she closed her fist as she flipped it over on her other hand to see what the result was. Once she looked at the coin, she had a smile on her face. "Well, looks like you got it right. Oh well, maybe next time. I'll then end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 3: Isaac

"It's back to me, draw. I'll summon Apple Magician Girl, then I'll have Breaker use his ability. By removing his counter, I can destroy the card you set facedown. With that I'll then have my monsters move in for the assault. Breaker take out her monster and then Apple Magician Girl attack Trixie directly!" With that Isaac's monsters understood their command and laid waste to Trixie. "I'll then set a card facedown and end my turn."
Trixie's Life Points: 6300-

Turn 4: Trixie

"Not bad, draw. I'll play Performage Trick Clown(1600/1200) in attack mode. Then I'll set 2 cards facedown and end my turn."

Turn 5: Isaac

Isaac saw Trixie's new monster and tapped his duel disk to see what he could see about it before drawing his card. "Interesting, well then. I'll play my Beta the Magnet Warrior, then I'll take your bait. Beta attack Trixie's Performage Trick Clown."

"I activate my trap Disappearing Act. With this my monster pulls off his trick and is safe from your attack, and I get to summon a monster whose attack is equal to or less than 1500. So I'll play my Performage Damage Juggler(1500/1000)."

"I'll give you that one Trixs. I'll just end my turn then."

Turn 6: Trixie

"It's back to me; now since I have 2 or more monsters on my field that means I can special summon my Performage Hat Tricker(1100/1100). Then I'll summon my Performage Flame Eater(1200/1600) in defense mode." Trixie now had nearly a full field of monsters. "Since I summoned my Flame Eater, we both take 500 points of damage. However, I won't be taking any because of my Hat Tricker's ability. Now when a card or effect would inflict damage to me I can place a counter on my Performage Hat Tricker, then all the damage becomes zero." Trixie's monster then floated over to Isaac's side and in a cartoonish way blew up in his face as he was covered in powder. Isaac just let out a cough as he shook off the powder.
Isaac's Life Points: 7500-

"Hope that last move wasn't too awe inspiring because this next one will surely take your breath away. Observe as I conduct an Xyz summon. I overlay my Performage Damage Juggler and Trick Clown to build the Overlay Network." A vortex then opened up and Trixie's monsters were sucked in as a new card was being played. "Direct your gaze to the skies above, as I present to you a swinging star performer! I Xyz Summon my Performage Trapeze Magician(2500/2000, OLU: 2)!" Out came Trixie's new monster that came swinging in on a trapeze as it landed on Trixie's side before doing a backflip. "My monster has an ability to where I can't take damage if it's less than or equal to his attack. That's why I'll give him a power boost to ensure I won't take huge damage; I'll equip him with the Wonder Wand spell card to raise his attack to 3000. Now my magician attack Isaac's Breaker." With that Trixie commanded her monster to destroy Isaac's monster and was successful. "I'll then end my turn with a facedown."
Isaac's Life Points: 6100-

Turn 7: Isaac

Trixie really has changed. She's gotten herself a strong monster and now she's made it even stronger. Prior to her spell card, my Dark Magician was the only one that could have a chance at taking her monster down. Now with that spell it's made things that much more difficult. "Alright, time to see what I can do. To start, I'll play Graceful Charity. So I'll draw three more cards and discard two. Then I'll play my Magical Dimension now I'll tribute my Apple Magician Girl and summon my Dark Magician. Now the other effect of my card allows me to destroy a monster on the field and I choose your Performage Trapeze Magician!"

"Too bad that won't work, I reveal my facedown Bubble Barrier. Now once per turn, each of my 'Performage' monsters can't be destroyed by battle or card effect. Also Trixie takes no battle damage from any attacks that involve them." With that a bubble formed around Trixie's Trapeze Magician as Isaac's effect just merely bounced off of the protective barrier.

"You've got to be kidding me!"

"Well, what do you think? Trixie definitely stepped up her game, right?"

Isaac couldn't help but give Trixie a smile which to her was enough of an answer.

"If you think that's great then how about this; I activate my Trapeze Magician's ability. Now by using 1 overlay unit, I can target 1 face-up attack position monster and they can be allowed to have a second attack this turn. And the one I choose is your Dark Magician!" (OLU: 1). With that Trixie removed an overlay unit and it infused with Isaac's Dark Magician as it glowed yellow.

Isaac was a bit confused as to why Trixie would do that but quickly put that out of his head as he was getting ready to strike. "Well who am I to turn down an assist. Now Dark Magician attack Trixie's Performage Flame Eater and Hat Tricker!"

"My spell card is a continuous card which means my Bubble Barrier protects my 'Performage' monsters from being destroyed and I don't take any battle damage." With that Isaac's attack was render useless as Dark Magician just blasted Trixie's monsters and they were still there as they were covered in scratches."

"That's why you activated your monster's effect. Coupled with that spell card of yours, it makes it so that you almost have an impregnable wall to where your monsters and your life points are safe."

"And there's more. The monster that waged the attack is then destroyed at the end of the battle phrase."

Isaac had his eyes grow as he turned to his magician who was begin to turn into particles as it was being sent away due to Trixie's effect.

"My Dark Magician is gone! I'll switch my Beta into defense mode and end my turn."

Turn 8: Trixie

"Now that your ace monster is gone, time for me to go on the offensive. Draw. I'll play the spell card Cost Down, now I'll send 1 card in my hand to the grave and as a result all the monster cards in my hand get their levels reduced by 2. With that I can then summon my Performage Stilts Launcher(2200/0). Now I'll activate the effect of my Performage Trick Clown from my grave, now I can target 1 'Performage' monster in my graveyard and special summon it. So I'll choose to revive another Performage Flame Eater in defense mode. However, the downside of using this ability is that the monster brought back has 0 attack/defense and I take 1000 points of damage. But thanks to my Hat Tricker, I can make that damage become zero and then I can put another counter on him. In addition, since my Flame Eater was special summoned we both take 500 points of damage. But like before my Hat Tricker can negate that damage and convert it into a counter. Now that he has 3 counters, his attack and defense rise to 3300."
Isaac's Life Points: 5600-

"This can't be good." Isaac was now staring at Trixie as she had a field full of monsters that couldn't be destroyed and any battles involving them would result in her taking no battle damage. Safe to say that Isaac had found himself backed into a corner. Not to mention that Isaac saw Trixie's Hat Tricker power up thanks to the counters it had accumulated.

"Now I'll activate my Trapeze Magician's ability. By using his last overlay unit, I can select a monster to attack twice this turn and I choose my Performage Stilts Launcher. Now time to attack, first my Performage Stilts Launcher will take out your Beta. That will clear the way for my other monsters to attack and wipe out the rest of your life points! Finish Isaac off!"

"I banish Electromagnetic Turtle from my graveyard so that the battle phase immediately ends." With that Isaac's tiny turtle came out as it released a wall of electricity as caused all of Trixie's monsters to halt as they were paralyzed.

"I had victory in the palm of my hands and like always, you find some way to hang on. No wonder you're the owner of the Dark Magician; you both know how to keep your opponent guessing by using misdirection. You know Trixie could use someone like you for her magic acts. What do you say, Isaac? Care to be my lovely assistant?"

"Yeah, I think I'll take a hard pass on that." Isaac tired to get the image of him being Trixie's assistant out of his mind.

Turn 9: Isaac

"Now time to mount my comeback, draw. I reveal my facedown Eternal Soul. Now I can bring back my Dark Magician from the graveyard." Well, time to test out Mr. Turner's card. "I'll then play my Nitro Synchron. Now the stage is set to unveil a new monster. Now watch Trixie as I tune my Nitro Synchron with my Dark Magician; and when I summon this monster using my Dark Magician he counts as a level 6 instead of 7. I Synchro Summon Dark Sorcerer Magician(2500/2100)." Out came a spellcaster that had white hair and had garments that were dressed in an indigo/purple color scheme. It wielded a staff and was surrounded by bits of stardust and magical symbols.

Trixie was in awe as she got a good look at Isaac's new monster. From what she could tell this monster was different from his other counterparts and it looked like it wielded a new power. Her suspicion was confirmed correct a few moments later.

"Now I'll activate my Dark Sorcerer Magician's ability. When he's summoned, I can destroy 1 spell or trap on the field. so I choose your Bubble Barrier." Isaac's spellcaster then pointed its wand and got rid of Trixie's spell. "Now I'll have my magician attack your Trapeze Magician."

"Did you forget about the difference in attack points? Also the effect of my Trapeze Magician makes it so that I never take damage that's equal to or less than my monster's attack."

"Then it's a good thing my magician has another ability, when he battles another monster he can cut their strength in half and then he gains those attack points. Which means your Performage Trapeze Magician drops to 1500 while my monster rises to 4000. That means your magician's effect can't save you. Go Dark Sorcerer Magician attack with Stardust Blast!" Isaac's new wizard then fired its wand at Trixie's monster as it zapped away some of its strength and then destroyed her monster.
Trixie's Life Points: 3100-

"Well my Trapeze Magician has another ability, when he's destroyed I can special summon 1 'Performage' from my deck. I'll choose another Performage Trick Clown in defense mode. Then I'll activate my facedown Trick Box; since a 'Performage' was destroyed I can take control of your monster till the end of the turn. Then on your field I revive a 'Performage' monster, so I'll choose my Trapeze Magician." With that Trixie had managed to swap her own monster with Isaac and she looked ready to strike.

"With that I'll end my turn by setting a card facedown."

"With that my trap resolves and my Trapeze Magician returns to me." Performage Trapeze Magician then swung over to Trixie's side.

Turn 10: Trixie

"My draw, now I'll sacrifice my 2 Performage Flame Eater to summon out my Dark Magician." Trixie knew that it had been a while since she played this card. The last time she did was when she was disrespecting her cards and saying that their only duty were to serve her. Now she felt like she understood what Isaac was trying to tell her back then. Out came Trixie's Dark Magician as it wore blue clothing compared to Isaac's. "Thanks for the gift, Isaac. Now time to pay you back, go my magicians attack Isaac and end this duel!"

"Hold on Trixie, I reveal Mirror Force! Now your attack is diverted right back at you and all your monsters in attack position are destroyed!" Isaac's trap then pulled up a wall which reflected Trixie's attack as it wiped out most of her field.

Trixie was dumbfounded as she couldn't believe what Isaac just did. Almost all of her monster were gone and now she didn't have anything to attack Isaac with.

"I end my turn. And so I summon another Performage Stilts Launcher to the field." Trixie knew there was nothing she could do now as her last attack was her final hope on ending this duel. Trapeze Magician then appeared in spirit form as it did a few flips for Trixie as it tried its best to cheer her up; ultimately Trixie saw what her monster was doing and she couldn't help but smile and let out a laugh.

Turn 11: Isaac

Isaac saw Trixie laughing and he couldn't help but to also crack a smile. He knew what he had to do, so with a determined look in his eyes he placed his hand on his deck and drew his card. "Ready, Trixie. First since my Dark Sorcerer Magician was destroyed, I can bring back my Dark Magician. Next I'll activate the effect of my Magician's Calling which allows me to summon a spellcaster monster from my hand, so appear Dark Magician Girl." Isaac now had his two most trusted companions as they all looked at each other ready to due battle. "Then I'll activate my Dark Magic Twin Burst, so Dark Magician Girl raises my Dark Magician's attack by her own points. Don't forget about your Dark Magician, Trixie. Since he's in the grave, he gives her an extra 300 point boost. With that my monster now has a total of 4800. Lastly, I'll reveal my final facedown Dark Burning Magic. With this I wipe out every single monster you have on the field, Trixie. Now Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl, end this duel! Double Dark Magic Attack!" Isaac gave his magicians their orders and they twirled their wand before pointing it at Trixie.
Trixie's Life Points: 0-

Winner: Isaac

Isaac then walked over to Trixie who was on her knees. Isaac then offered his hand as he helped Trixie to her feet. He had a smile as he looked at her.

"That was some good dueling. You've really stepped up your game, Trixie. I've seen that you really have reinvented yourself; you should be proud. I could see the bond between you and your monsters and you've really come a long way. If you have that same tenacity then you're definitely someone who could make it to the finals of the tournament. And if that happens, they I look forward to facing you one more time."

"Thanks for the compliment. But I still lost to you; I wanted this duel to be a showcase of my skills and how far I've come. I also wanted to see where I stand when it came to dueling ranks. When I first battled you, I knew that you were a great duelist. You prove me right when you became champion and since then, you've elevated this division to new heights. All in all. I'm glad we have someone like you at the top. Just don't get too comfortable because if anybody is going to beat you, it'll be me."

"Anytime, anyplace. I'll be ready."

With that Trixie thanked Isaac for everything. She said her goodbye and left the school grounds. Isaac just had a smile on his face as he witnessed Trixie leave. He pulled out his Dark Sorcerer Magician and looked at it; it proved to be a valuable asset for his deck and gave his monster a smile as a way to say thanks for helping him in his duel. Isaac then grabbed his backpack and then made his way home. As he was walking home, Isaac received an email from Celestia on his phone; when he pulled it up, he began to read it. The thing that was on the email was basically information about the Winter Ball and she revealed the participants on would be competing in the mini tournament prior to the event. Isaac began looking through the roster of participants competing in the tournament and surprise that there were 2 names he recognized. The other people he didn't know so he did some quick research on his laptop and found out their dueling profile. Isaac was able to learn their name, deck, as well as their ranking. Isaac didn't care who he faced as long as he had fun, but it couldn't hurt to have a close eye on his potential opponent. With that he got started on his schoolwork before heading off to bed.

Trixie sure changed.

A couple of errors I see.
Kuriboh can't protect Isaac from all the damage, just only for one battle. Meaning it would only protect him from one of Trixie's attacks but not the other two.
Trick Box should activate the moment Trixie's Performage monster got destroyed, not till when her turn comes.
So she would be having Trapeze Magician back on her field by the time her turn came.

Trixie learned a lot from from her previous duel with Isaac.
