Chapter 80: Photosynthesis

The following days were filled with Celestia challenging so many students. After her "surprising" battle with Rainbow Dash, almost all the students were thinking twice on making sure their decks were able to keep up with Celestia. Still Celestia still had a calm look on her face as she seemed to be enjoying herself; safe to say that Celestia had finally shook off any tension and was now dueling like she was when she was younger. It took some time but Rainbow was finally able to piece herself back together. The girls were all surprised by Celestia's battles that they began to shake in their boots a bit.

Isaac, however, was taking this way differently. Whenever Celestia was engaged in duels, he would always stare at her. Almost like he was trying to intimidate her and he could tell that she was doing the same. Isaac knew why Celestia was doing this as she felt it was a way to prove herself and based on how recent she's been taking on challengers nonstop, she proved that part successful. Still there was another part of him that was just waiting to be unleashed; he knew that if Celestia was able to make it all the way to Fall Formal then everybody better batten down the hatches cause let's say that both were going to engage in war.

Isaac's sudden shift in attitude didn't go unnoticed. Twilight always sat next to Isaac in her own chair as she watched how Celestia's battles were affecting her boyfriend. She tried to get him to talk about but he just simply shrugged it off as nothing. Twilight was worried about how this was affecting Isaac. They were currently walking to their next class as Isaac had his serious look on his face; Twilight was currently walking behind him as she was concerned with how Celestia was affecting his mental health.

"Isaac?" said Twilight.

Isaac stopped in his tracks and didn't say anything. He didn't even look at Twilight. He just simply stood there.

"Isaac, I feel like we need to talk." Twilight was hoping to get an answer from Isaac but he didn't say anything. "This obsession that you have with Celestia, I feel like it's affecting you."

Silence.

"I feel like this isn't good for your health." said Twilight with a bit more volume.

Silence.

"Look at me damn it!! If you love me, then answer me!!" shouted Twilight.

Silence.

Twilight stepped in front of Isaac and looked at him. She grabbed Isaac's arms as she saw his face. He just had a stone cold look on his face. Twilight was now shaking and yelling at Isaac to snap out of his state. Isaac just stood there not moving or saying anything. Finally Twilight had enough as she snapped, "I guess if I can't get you to answer me, then I'll have to slap you to get an answer. And My God Would You Look At Me When I'm Talking To You!?!!!!!" screamed Twilight. Then quick as a flash she swung her right hand as she looked to connect with Isaac's face.

But as quick as Twilight was, Isaac was just that much faster as he caught her hand which was just about an inch from hitting his face. Isaac had a tight grip on Twilight's wrist as she struggled to break free from Isaac. He wasn't hurting her, but she could feel his strength based on how he wasn't let her go. Isaac then reeled in Twilight into his arms as he brought her in for a kiss. Twilight resisted at first but the way Isaac kissed her and was holding her caused Twilight to fall into the kiss. They stood there as they just kissed, soon they broke apart as they looked at each other. Twilight brought her hand to Isaac's face as she started to stroke it while staring at her boyfriend.

"Why? What's going on with you?" asked Twilight.

Finally, Isaac spoke. "Just know that I'm fine, Twilight. I'm just focused on my duel with Celestia at the Fall Formal. Let's say that there comes a time in a duelist life where they face someone. And all they can think about is getting on the duel field and seeing what they can do. I can't fully explain it, but just know that I'm fine. As long as I have you by my side, I'll always be myself."

Isaac smiled at Twilight which she did the same. He then grabbed her hand as they began to walk to their next class together. Twilight was proud that she was able to get a word out of her boyfriend, but she couldn't felt like there was more. She was really trying to figure out what Isaac told her about him and Celestia eventually facing each other. Still the way Isaac was smiling meant that she trusted him, so with that she let the subject go and knew that Isaac would be okay dealing with it.

The rest of the day went by as everybody carried on with their normal agendas. Celestia was still running down her list of people she wanted to face as she kept racking up wins. Twilight made sure to write down notes and record her duels for future references while Isaac just kept his focus on Celestia. Soon the duel ended as Celestia had won decisively, in fact she beat her opponent without losing a single life point. Celestia then did her norm of shaking her opponent's hand and offered some calm and collected advice; overall, she acted like a mother as she encouraged her "children" to keep on trying. With that the school day came to an end, but before they all left, Celestia announced her next opponent which was none other than Applejack.

Applejack was currently with Twilight and Sunset in the library as they were going over some replays to help Aj get ready. Isaac was in the background as he was sitting on a couch while looking through his deck.

"So anythin' else ah should know about when facin' Celestia?" asked Aj.

"Just keep your focus. Don't underestimate her, and more importantly don't hold back."

"I think Applejack knows that, Isaac." said Sunset as she placed her hand on her hip.

"I'm being serious. Don't hold back against Celestia. She wants your best so give it to her." stated Isaac as he was still staring at his cards.

"Right, well ah do my best. Still don't take it personally, sugarcube. Ah know you're lookin' forward your match with Celestia, but ah afraid there's goin' to be roadblock on that path. Cause ah plan to beat Principal Celestia and once ah do, you're next Isaac. Defeatin' Celestia will be just what ah need to take you down; ah comin' for that title Isaac. So get ready." Applejack was now standing in front of Isaac as she gave him a competitive look.

Isaac looked up as he just smiled and stood up, "Well then if that does happen, then I look forward to it." Isaac then gave her a firm handshake as they looked at each other.

With that Applejack began to go over her deck as Isaac worked his magic to offer some suggestions. After a good solid hour, Applejack felt like she created the best deck she could make as she began to prepare herself for her battle with their principal tomorrow morning. The next morning came by as all the students were just entering the room as they began to find a seat. Applejack was currently in the hallway with Isaac and Twilight as she was doing a bit of jumping jacks and stretching to get herself ready.

"Alright, ah think ah good to go. Any last minute advice, sugar?"

"Just have fun, Aj. That's all you can do; give Celestia a good time." stated Isaac.

"Right. But you better be ready, cause ah meant what ah said. Once I defeat Celestia, ah comin' to take that title from you." Applejack then took a deep breath as she stepped through the doors with Isaac and Twilight following behind her. They noticed Celestia in the middle of the room as she was waiting for Aj; Isaac and Twilight then wished their friend good luck as they went to sit on their chairs that was already set up for them. Applejack then made her way to the center of the room as she prepared for her turn to duel Celestia.

"Good morning, Applejack. I'm pleased to have a wonderful battle with you."

"As am ah, Principal Celestia."

"Let me remind you of what's at stake in this duel. Should you defeat me in this duel then you'll be the one to retire my career and I'll personally make sure that you face Isaac at the Fall Formal for the title of champion." stated Celestia.

"Mighty kind of that Principal Celestia. So you better believe that ah goin' to take you down and then it's Isaac's turn." Applejack then activated her duel disk as she slotted in her deck and projected a green card tray.

"Very well. Though the person who will face Isaac will be me." Celestia then activated her duel disk as it projected a card tray that matched the color of her hair.

Luna then appeared as she would serve as the official referee for this bout. "If both participants are ready then let the duel... begin!!" shouted Luna as she gave the signal.

"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel." said the voice of their duel disks.

Celestia's Life Points: 8000-

Applejack's Life Points: 8000-

Turn 1: Celestia

"Guess I'll go first," Celestia drew her card and looked at her hand. "To start, I'll play my Harvest Angel of Wisdom(1800/1000)." Celestia played her card and out came a monster that wore gold armor and had a set of wings attached to it.

"Seems Celestia is using a different deck compared to when she battled Rainbow Dash." said Twilight as she was scribbling on her notepad. Isaac just simply looked on as he was invested in the battle.

"Next I'll play the spell card, Cards from the Sky. So now I banish a Light Fairy monster from my hand and draw 2 cards from my deck." Celestia then chose which one she wanted to get rid of as she drew some more cards. Celestia looked at her new cards and held one of them out. “I activate the continuous spell card, The Sanctum of Parshath.” A large marble temple sparkled into place behind Celestia, a large flight of stairs leading up to an altar depicting a winged warrior with a shield and sword. "With my spell in play, all of my Fairy-type monsters gain 300 attack points, and my face-down spell and trap cards cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects. I then set one card and end my turn.”

Turn 2: Applejack

"Ah'm up," Applejack drew her card as she began to look at Celestia's field and formulate her plan. My first step to challengin' Isaac and takin' his title and it starts with me beatin' Celestia. Here goes. "To start ah play the spell card, Polymerization. So ah fuse my Predaplant Cordyceps and Pterapenthes to summon out, Predaplant Chimerafflesia!" Applejack now had a giant plant as it showed its jaws an was set to strike. "Ah now activate mah monster's effect, so ah banish your Harvest Angel of Wisdom." Just like that Celestia's monster was gone. "Now ah attack you directly, go Chimerafflesia!" Applejack thrusted her hand out as her monster took a bite out of Celestia's life points.
Celestia's Life Points: 5500-

"Ah then end my turn. Your up, Principal Celestia."

Turn 3: Celestia

"Good job, Applejack. A very solid opening play, not only removing my monster which makes its special ability useless, but also dealing me some significant damage. You're really a talented duelist; I wouldn't mind seeing you face Isaac in the championship match." complimented Celestia.

"Thanks for the kind words, ma'am."

"Now then," Celestia then drew her card and began to think about what she wanted to do. "I'll play the continuous spell card Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen. Since I control no monsters, I can special summon a Fairy-type monster from my hand. So I select my Bountiful Artemis(1600/1700) in defense mode. Next I'll play my Shining Angel(1400/800) in defense mode. Don't forget due to my Sanctum of Parshath all my monsters gain an extra 300 attack/defense points." Celestia's monster then felt the power flow through them as they shined brightly.

"Now, I'll end my turn."

Turn 4: Applejack

"Don't know what you're up to, but ah got a duel to win. And a championship match with mah name on it." Applejack made sure to look back at Isaac while she said that. "Ah play my Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio, when its summoned, ah allowed to special summon 1 'Predaplant' monster from mah deck. But first ah send my Predaplant Drosophyllum Hydra to the graveyard. So come out, Predaplant Spinodionaea." Applejack then sent her card to the graveyard as she brought out a new monster. "Mah Spinodionaea has an effect, ah target your Shining Angel and give it ah 'Predator Counter'." Spinodionaea then opened its jaws as it shot a seed toward Celestia's monster.

"Now ah attack, ah have my Spinodionaea take out your Shining Angel and my Chimerafflesia will take out your Bountiful Artemis! Mah Chimerafflesia has an effect to where when it battles, it gains 1000 attack points while your monster loses 1000 attack points!" exclaimed Applejack as her monsters charged at Celestia's field.

"I reveal my facedown card, Divine Punishment. Thanks to this trap card, whenever a spell/trap or monster effect is activated, I can use this card to negate it and destroy it." smiled Celestia.

"Oh no." said Applejack as she watched her monster explode in a pillar of light. "Well your Shining Angel still gets destroyed."

"Yes it does, and now a couple of things happen. Now that my Shining Angel was destroyed, I can special summon 1 Light monster from my deck in face-up attack position so long as it had 1500 or less attack points. So I use choose my Nova Summoner(1400/800). Then my Bountiful Artemis' effect activates, now each time a Counter trap card is activated, I can draw one card." Celestia then drew her card as she called up a new monster to take the place.

"Well you're not the only one, since mah Predaplant Spinodionaea destroyed a monster with a Predator Counter on it, ah can special summon another 'Predaplant' monster from mah deck. Ah select my Predaplant Flytrap in defense mode." Applejack now had another plant-type monster on her field. "Now ah activate my Flytrap's effect to give your Nova Summoner a Predaplant Counter." Flytrap then opened its jaws as it shot a seed at Celestia's monster. "Now ah end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 5: Celestia

"Now then," Celestia drew her card. "I'll play the spell card, Graceful Charity. So I'll draw three cards and discard two." Celestia drew her cards and selected the ones she wanted to get rid of. "Now I'll play the spell card, Celestial Transformation. Now I special special a monster from my hand but it's destroyed at the end of my turn and its attack is cut in half. So I choose my Tethys, Goddess of Light(2400/1800) in defense mode. Then I play my Guiding Light(0/0), since I normal summoned my monster, I can special summon one Level 1 monster in my graveyard. So I revive my D.D Sprite(0/100)." Celestia now had five monsters on her field.

"Not bad, Principal Celestia. But ah afraid that ah still have the advantage based on mah monsters' strength, even with the extra 300 attack points that they gain due to your spell card."

"You're correct, Ms. Applejack. My monsters may be weak, but I assure you that their purpose isn't for attack. Let give you a hint, my D.D Sprite is in a tuner monster." stated Celestia with a smile on her face.

"Tuner!?" Applejack now knew what Celestia was about to do.

"Correct, now then I tune my D.D Sprite with my Guiding Light and Tethys, Goddess of Light. I combine the shining light of all my monsters and call forth a creature full of majestic beauty! I Synchro Summon, Ancient Fairy Dragon(2100/3000)!" Celestia now had a new monster on her field as it unfurled its wings "Now I'll switch my Bountiful Artemis to attack mode and then I'll have my Artemis attack your Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio, and Ancient Fairy Dragon will take out your Spinodionaea!" shouted Celestia as she gave her monsters their command.
Applejack's Life Points: 7000-

"I'll then end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 6: Applejack

"Alright now." Applejack adjusted her hat and drew her card. "First ah use my Flytrap's effect to give your Ancient Fairy Dragon a counter. Then ah play my Predapruning spell card, so now ah can special summon back mah Predaplant Spinodionaea from mah graveyard."

"Sorry to disappoint you, Applejack. Since you activated a spell card, I can discard my Herald of Green Light and one other Fairy monster from my hand to the graveyard. By doing so, I can negate and destroy your spell card." Celestia then sent her two monsters to the graveyard as a light beam hit Aj's card as it shattered into tiny bits of particles.

"Damn!" shouted Applejack as Celestia had managed to stop her plan. "Guess ah go with plan B. Ah choose to play my continuous spell card, Predaponics. So ah special summon my Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio from my grave, but its effects are negated. In addition, during each of mah Standby Phase, ah have to pay 800 life points to keep this card on the field. But ah got all I need, next since one of your monsters has a 'Predator Counter' ah can special summon mah Predaplant Helimaphorhynchus. Next, ah play Predaprime Fusion. So now ah fusion summon all three of mah monsters on the field." A vortex opened up as Applejack's monsters all combined their energies together and jumped into the vortex. Soon a pillar o flight appeared as a new monster appeared based on its shadow. "Ah Fusion Summon, Predaplant Triphyoverutum! Now my monster's effect activates, it gains the original attack points equal to all monsters that have a Predator Counter on them. So it gains a 6500 more attack points thanks to your monsters. Now time to let mah new creature loose, take out her Ancient Fairy Dragon!" Aj's monster then felt a power boost as it unleashed its unleashed a tri-attack that took out Celestia's monster.
Celestia's Life Points: 1400-

"Now ah end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 7: Celestia

"My turn," Celestia was now thinking how she wanted to proceed this turn. "To start, I'll play my Emergency Provisions. So I'll get rid of my Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen to gain 1000 life points. Next I play my Meltiel, Sage of the Sky(1600/1200). Next I'll place a card facedown and end my turn."
Celestia's Life Points: 2400-

Turn 8: Applejack

"Mah turn." shouted Aj as she picked up her card.

Careful, Aj. thought Isaac.

"Now ah pay 800 life points to keep my Predaponics in play. Next ah play the spell card, Predaplast. Now ah reveal as many 'Preda' cards in mah hand, then ah can put that many counters on your monsters." stated Aj.
Applejack's Life Points: 6200-

"I'm afraid I can't allow that." said Celestia as she touched her duel screen. "I reveal my facedown, Dark Bribe. Now thanks to this I can negate your spell card, but you get to draw a card." smiled Celestia.

"Ah really startin' to get annoyed." muttered Applejack as she drew her card.

"As for me a couple of things happen. First I'll also draw a card, thanks to my Bountiful Artemis. Since I activated a counter trap, it allows me to draw an extra card. In addition, the effect of my Meltiel, Sage of the Sky activates. Since a counter trap was activated, I now gain 1000 life points." Celestia then received a bright light as it shined on her; she then had a smirk on her face. "But it doesn't stop there, you see my Meltiel, Sage of the Sky has another effect. Since I control 'The Sanctuary in the Sky', I can now destroy one card on your field. And I'll choose your only monster." Celestia then pointed at Aj's creature as she gave a troll smile.
Celestia's Life Points: 3400-

Aj watched her monster be engulfed in a pillar of light as she covered her eyes. Once it ceased, Applejack was now staring straight at Celestia's field as she look to deal some serious damage. Applejack now a worried look on her face as she needed to do something to protect her life points.

"Ah activate the effect of my Predaplant Triphyoverutum from the graveyard. Since you control a monster with a Predaplant Counter, ah can special summon it in defense position." Applejack's monster was now back as it bared its fangs. "Ah then end my turn with a facedown." Ah hate to admit it, but this is becoming very challengin'. Celestia can just counter my cards and ah can't target them due to her "The Sky in the Sanctuary" spell card. Now ah see what Rainbow went through.

Turn 9: Celestia

"Is it my turn, already? Ha, I hadn't noticed." laughed Celestia as she let out a little cute snort. Despite Applejack's frustration, Celestia was smiling at she was having fun. "Ahh, just what I was hoping for. I hope you're ready Applejack, time for me to play a monster that has yet to be shown. I now send three monsters in my hand to the graveyard," Celestia then slotted her cards to the graveyard as she had a smile on her face, "By doing so I can special summon Arcana Force EX- The Dark Ruler(4000/4000)!" Out came a creature that had two heads as they let out a roar.

"4000 attack points!?" said Applejack as she was bit worried.

"That's not all, when my Dark Ruler is summoned, I flip a coin and depending on what it lands determine which effect it gains." A coin then appeared in Celestia as she held it in her hand as she had a smile. Applejack felt uncomfortable with Celestia having a calm expression, almost like the air was being sucked out of her. "Now let's find out." Celestia then tossed the coin into the air as held in the air for a few seconds before it started to drop.

Applejack was now staring at the coin like her life depended on it. She was now sweating hard as she could feel her legs were shaking. Isaac and Twilight were watching from their chairs; Twilight was in the same position as Applejack as she too was worried on what side the coin would land. Isaac just had a straight look as he knew about the Celestia's monster and knew that whatever side the coin landed on, Applejack would be in a whirlwind of trouble. Soon the coin landed in Celestia's palm as she closed her hand. Nothing was said as silence overcame the room. Celestia still had the same expression on her face as she looked at Applejack; Applejack was now scared as she couldn't look at Celestia due to how her calm expression was making her uncomfortable.

"So Applejack, care to make any guess on whether it's heads or tails?" said Celestia as she was using her motherly voice.

"Ah... ah..." Applejack was now very scared. "Ah guess... heads?"

Celestia then opened her fist and looked at the result. "It seems you were..."

"Were what!? Did ah guess wrong? Ah! This killin' me!" Applejack was now in a panic state as she grabbed her hat.

"Ha, ha, ha." Celestia was having too much fun messing with Applejack. "Calm down, Applejack. It was actually tails."

"Whew, that's a relief" said Applejack as she wiped her forehead. "Wait! Was that a good thing?"

"It means if my Dark Ruler gets destroyed, then so do all other cards on the field." stated Celestia. "But that won't matter, cause now I'll have my Arcane Force EX- The Dark Ruler take out your monster." Celestia then snapped her fingers as her monster took out Aj's field with ease. Now Applejack had no monsters on her field as Celestia looked to deal some massive amounts of damage. "Now then time for an attack, now my fairies attack Ms. Applejack directly!" Celestia thrusted her hand out and her monster were enveloped in a golden light as they rose high into the sky and dealt a massive blow to Applejack as she put her arms to cover up.
Applejack's Life Points: 2400-

"Seems things have swung my way, in that case, I'll end my turn with a facedown."

Turn 10: Applejack

"Ooh, talk about dealing damage. Applejack took some heavy shots there." stated Sunset as she and her friends watched Applejack struggling with Principal Celestia.

"What do you think, Isaac?" Twilight was wondering if there was anything that Aj could do to turn things around.

"It's... mah turn, I draw. Alright, ah..."

"Don't forgot Applejack, you have pay 800 life points to keep your Predaponics in play or else you have to get rid of it." smirked Celestia.

Applejack looked at her hand and was considering her options. Mah only problem is that ah don't have much life points left to spare, not to mention that Celestia has a field full of powerful monsters. Her Dark Ruler destroys all cards on the field as soon as it's destroyed. But maybe ah can use that to my advantage; worth a shot. "Ah choose to get rid of my Predaponics spell card, so I destroy it. Then ah activate the effect of my Predaplant Cordyceps from mah graveyard, so ah banish it to special summon 2 level 4 or lower 'Predaplant' monsters in my graveyard. So ah choose mah Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio and Spinodionaea." Applejack now had two monsters on her field. "Now ah play Fusion Recovery, so ah get back Polymerization and one monster to my hand. Next ah play my Polymerization!" shouted Applejack.

A purple vortex with tendrils of green energy appeared behind Applejack and drew in her two monsters. The vortex spun and flashed, its light growing. “Ah combine mah reptilian predator and my deadly stinger, and unleash a vicious botanical nightmare!” Applejack held her card up. “Ah Fusion Summon Starving Venom Fusion Dragon!" She slammed her card on her duel disk, the card tray lighting up purple. "Mah monster now gains attack points equal to all of your monsters that you special summoned, and that happens to be your Dark Ruler. Then ah activate its effect so ah can copy the effect of your Dark Ruler. So now it's mah turn to flip a coin." Applejack then grabbed the coin that appeared in front of her as she blew on it for good luck. She then tossed it high into as it held for a few seconds and then fell into Applejack's hand.

"So, Principal Celestia. Care to tell me what you think it is?" said Applejack as he had a smug look.

Celestia now had her expression changed from playful to straight. Now it was Applejack's turn to have a bit of fun.

"Well we're waitin' Principal Celestia. What's it gonna be?"

"I select tails." shouted Celestia with a stern tone.

Applejack then opened her fist as she smiled. "Seems... you were wrong. It's heads. So now my Starving Venom Fusion Dragon can now attack twice in this battle phase. My dragon has a strength total of 7100 attack points and he has the ability to strike twice, but ah only need one. Cause while Arcane Force Ex- The Dark Ruler may destroy all cards on the field, your other monsters are all fairly weak. Even with the extra 300 attack points that you receive from your Sanctum of Parshath spell card, all ah need to do is attack one of those and you'll lose enough life points for me to win!"

The students were now surprised that Applejack had found a way to get pass Celestia's offensive monster. Now all she had to do was pick her target and she would be declared the winner. Not only would she defeat and retire Principal Celestia, but by doing so she would be the number 1 contender to challenge Isaac for his title. Applejack was now smiling ear to ear as she looked to claim victory which was right at her fingertips. Celestia for a bit had a worried look on her face as the situation dawned on her.

"Sorry, Isaac. But it looks like we won't be seeing you take on Principal Celestia at the Fall Formal, but don't worry ah'll be the one to face you." shouted Applejack as she looked behind to see Isaac. While Applejack was talking, Isaac was leaning back in his chair as he had his hand on his chin. "Now time for me to win. Starving Venom Fusion Dragon, attack Nova Summoner! End this duel!!" shouted Applejack as she thrusted her hand out. Starving Venom Fusion Dragon then took flight as it flew high into the air and then swooped down as it opened it jaws and was set to give the victory to Applejack.

"I reveal my facedown, the trap Shift. Now I can change the target of monster's attack to a different one. So now instead of attack my Nova Summoner, your dragon will now target my Dark Ruler. Which means once it's destroyed so are all other cards on the field."

Dark Ruler then appeared as it switched places with Nova Summoner as Starving Venom Fusion Dragon eyed its target and used its set of jaws and clamped down on the monster. Soon a bright light enveloped the whole field as everything in sight was destroyed; both Celestia and Applejack covered their eyes as their monsters were gone and soon there was nothing left on the field.
Celestia's Life Points: 300-

"That's what ah was hopin' for. Cause from my hand, ah activate the quick spell card, Rays of Growth. Now ah can bring back one monster that was destroyed durin' battle. So ah choose my Starving Venom Fusion Dragon!" Applejack now had her monster back as its eyes glowed; it let out a mighty roar as it glared at Celestia. "Did ah forget to mention that my monster can attack once again?"

Celestia just chuckled at how Applejack was able to think outside the box and use her monster's ability against her. She then started to give an applause to Applejack. "Well done, Applejack. You really put your heart out in this match. I must commemorate you on such a hard fought battle."

"Ah appreciate the kinds word, Principal Celestia. Ah just hope that when ah face Isaac, ah can use this experience and push myself to the next level. Then ah can finally beat him and become champion." Applejack now had a determined look on her face. "So forgive me, Principal Celestia. But ah got a date with Isaac. Now Starving Venom Fusion Dragon, attack Principal Celestia and end this duel!!"

"I'm glad for this battle. However, I didn't say you would be challenging Isaac just yet, in fact, this duel isn't over." said Celestia with a smug smile on her face. "If you remember correctly, when I summoned my Arcana Force EX- The Dark Ruler, I had to send three monsters to the graveyard. And one of them was my Clear Kuriboh; now I banish Clear Kuriboh from my graveyard. Now I draw a card from my deck and if it's a monster card then I can special summon it." Celestia then put her hand on her deck as she had a calm look on her face. She drew her card and despite not looking at it, she knew it was a monster.

"I've drawn my Gellenduo and I chose to summon it in defense mode." Celestia summoned a monster that consisted of two little cute creatures as they held hands as they took the attack head on. They were thrown back but yet they still remained on the field. "My Gellenduo can't be destroyed by battle, so these cute little creatures are sticking around for the next turn." Celestia's monsters gave a cheering cry as Celestia just smiled at them. "So Applejack, anything else you have for this turn?"

"Ah... ah don't." Applejack was kicking herself for not being able to defeat Celestia. She gave her best shot and it didn't get the job done. "Ah end my turn."

Turn 11: Celestia

Before Celestia took her turn, Isaac knew that this duel was already over.

"Time to end this duel," Celestia drew her card. "Now I'll play the spell card, Block Attack. So now your Starving Venom Fusion Dragon is switched into defense mode. Now I'll tribute my Gellenduo, my Gellenduo has a special ability where it counts as 2 tributes. So now I play my Sacred Arch-Airknight Parshath(2800/2300)." Celestia now had a new monster on her field. Out came a monster that had stunning armor as it wielded a weapon by its side as there was celestial lights around it. "Next, I play the spell card, Megamorph. So since my life points are lower than yours, this card allows me to double my monster's attack points." Celestia's monster then glowed with a gold light surrounding it as it felt the power of light and the gods infuse with its soul.

"Now to end this duel, Sacred Arch-Airknight Parshath will attack your Starving Venom Fusion Dragon. My Airknight has an ability that allows it to deal piercing damage to a monster in defense mode. Now Sacred Arch-Airknight Parshath attack Applejack directly and end this duel!!!" Celestia thrusted her arm out as her monster delivered the final blow. With that Applejack's dragon was taken out with ease as Applejack just stood there with her head down and her arms by her side.
Applejack's Life Points: 0-

Winner: Principal Celestia

The duel ended as the holograms faded; Applejack collapsed to her knees as she let the defeat sink in. She then started to pound the ground as felt her opportunity to challenge Isaac had slipped through her fingers. Celestia saw how Applejack was acting and made her way towards her.

"Why? Why? Ah thought ah had it." yelled Applejack.

"Come now, Applejack. You did your best and that's what matters; I dare say that last combo caught me off by surprise and nearly won the duel." Celestia was doing her best to make Applejack feel better as she kneeled down and placed her hand on her shoulder. "Though you may not be the victor today, take this experience and learn from it. Use this defeat as a way for you to take your game to the next level; I dare say that if apply that same fire and desire then I'm sure that you'll be facing Isaac in no time and you may even beat him."

Applejack wiped her eyes with her arm as she dried up some tears. "Thanks Principal Celestia. Ah enjoyed our duel." Applejack then stood up as she shook Celestia's hand in a sign of respect. "Good luck in your match against Isaac."

"I appreciate that." Celestia gave Applejack a warm smile; she then looked at Isaac who was still staring at her.

Sometime later Isaac was with Applejack as they were in the hallway. It was the end of the school day as everybody had gone home; Applejack was still feeling some pent up aggression as she was punching the lockers. She had been going for quite a while as Isaac just leaned against the wall with his arms folded as he watched her. Soon Applejack had let it all out as she was taking deep breaths.

"Ten minutes, that's new record." said Isaac as he looked at his watch. He then appeared by Applejack's side, "Got everything out of your system?"

"Yeah, ah think ah good." said Applejack. "Ow, ow." said Applejack as she felt the pain from her knuckles which caused her to fall to her knees.

"Ha, ha." Isaac just chuckled at how Applejack was feeling the after effect of her little de-stress activity. He then bent down to Applejack's level, "Let me help." Isaac then grabbed Applejack's hands and began massage her knuckles. "Read this online, works wonders when I'm practicing my drawing."

"Thanks for the help, sugarcube. Ah just can't believe that ah couldn't get the job done. No matter what move ah made, or card ah wanted to play; Principal Celestia just found some way to counter me. Ah really wanted that opportunity to face you." said Applejack as the pain was slowly going away.

"You're not the only one. Whoever Celestia is challenging they're going to try to do everything they can to beat her and possibly face me; however, her little crusade she came up with is actually working. She's been showing just how tough she is and with the Fall Formal only a few weeks away, she's doing everything she can to make sure that our match happens." said Isaac with a causal tone. "There we go, how do your hands feel?"

"A little bit sore, but most of the pain is gone. Thanks, sugar." Applejack then brought a hand to Isaac's face as she looked at her friend. Applejack was staring Isaac in the eyes as he just simply stared back at her, waiting to see what she would do. "You know, I forgot how good it felt before you got with Twilight. This right here takes me back."

"Yeah, it does." Isaac then put his hand over Applejack's hand that was on his face. He thought back to the time where he went with Applejack to visit her family in Appleloosa. He was thinking back to the moment they both shared in the apple orchard.

Soon Applejack leaned in as she gave Isaac a kiss on the lips; Isaac didn't do anything but close his eyes as Applejack did the same. It was a quick and tender kiss as Applejack cusped Isaac's face as he did the same. Soon they pulled away, but despite it lasting for just a few moments, it was more than enough as Applejack was able to say all she wanted with that form of interaction. Isaac just brushed away some of Applejack's hair that was in front of her face as he looked at her.

"You know the rule." said Isaac.

"Ah do. And don't worry, ah'll tell Twilight. Just good luck in your duel against Celestia; she's one tough customer."

"Yeah. Still doesn't make it any much easier than it already is." stated Isaac with a bit of uncertainly.
