I apologize for nothing. And the reason this chapter is so disjointed is because both of these events are important but neither events were big enough for their own chapter.
1831991
Do you not regret anything? Also...
When the fuck did everyone turn into grade A assholes? Also, apart from that... 'part', pretty interesting. Also, wouldn't someone notice a missing Alicorn? (I am assuming they were going to kidnap Cadence as well?)
Last but not least, out of curiosity, would gripping a horn at the base, would that stop the magic flow?
I found this chater rather hilarious, though the whole love your friends thing was cringeworthy, but I guess that's intended and shows the contrast between the characters. Well played, sir, well played indeed.
This was really good, don't apologize for anything. That's like Stephen King apologizing for writing The Shining.
When the AUTHOR says its gonna be weird...
1832680
Pinkie was joking. I thought that was obvious.
And no, they weren't going to kidnap anyone. They were going to murder Skyla and leave Cadance alone. And also no, it would probably not stop the flow.
1832696
That's the ponies, man. They're into that lovey dovey crap.
1832706
I figured it was a fair warning. I had a number of people say that.
1832704
I wasn't apologizing, as I said. It's weird, but it was surprisingly fun to write.
1832711
Hmmmm... I sure as hell didn't see it... anyway, nice chapter, points for you.
For those not versed in "1337 Speak" those blocks say "Elite. Assassins in Closet. Goons watching. Help, I'm trapped in block factory." Though I don't see how Nav was trapped.
Heh, Celestia got some weird fetishes, although I could imagine why she would like to pretend how it is to have a baby.
Btw, the female the assasins spoke of in fear, was it Trixie? I could imagine it was her, on orders from Discord. Hm, now that I think about this, was the assasin attempt just Discord trying to change the way ponies think? Because when Nav said that he wanted to know of who hired them, so he could kill them, Shining responded that he agreed with his way of thinking? Meaning Shining is becoming more corrupt aswell? Or maybe I'm just overthinking it, since I am really tired while writing this.
Anyway, I liked the chapter. Nice bit of action, especially Mini-Nav, showing that he is still deadly even when pint-sized.
But, I gotta wonder about the conclusion with Rarity. Did he really forgive her, or was it just like with Pinkie, that he only said that he forgave her, but didn't really mean it?
Btw, when it comes to the changeling, will Chrysalis be involved? Because didn't they have a chemical scent signature, that identified each changeling . Meaning, they could find out where specifically that changeling came from? Or would that not carry such information?
1832711
Wasn't weird at all for me. It was rather amusing.
Maybe Celestia is having the Motherhood syndrome where she tried to be a mother but couldn't so she had Nav be one?
1832879
He wasn't. That last was just an Easter Egg to anyone that reads 1337
1833035
Essentially.
1832985
You wouldn't need Chrysalis for that. Any changeling would do, and there's already a changeling in the guard. Nav would not be involved in the investigation at all, because he fucked up the griffin investigation. And he did mean that he forgave both of them, or at least he thinks he means it.
Huh.....I guess Shining Armor might as well ask Nav if he could become skyla's godfather....
Also poor Celestia......Not. Seriously. WTF
So he forgives Raity....I was expecting him to beat the shit out of her and then forgive her but you can't get what you want all the time.
Ha...Fullteshy was friendzoned.
1833294
He could beat the fuck out of her, but what would that really accomplish other than him beating a woman that can't fight back? He doesn't like doing that, especially if he knows he would feel bad about it later.
I wonder if Nav beat the shit out of Celestia she would stop being a weird ass cunt...
1833335
Dude, if he tried fighting her she would tear him to pieces, even without magic. Celestia knows how to fight very well. She's her best guardian.
1833323
Apparently He's still holding on what little morals he has left. I wonder what would need to happen to make him snap.
That chapter. Interesting.
Why would Celly want that, and have "fun" while doing so? That's a lot of effort just for a "fetish".
She seemed pretty aware of how to care for a baby (human or not), Nav's memories? Was she a mother at some time? She assumed humans and ponies babies were similar enough and went with it? Like Nav said, she was prepared for that. Interesting.
Who want Cadance and Baby dead? They clearly got lots of resources to throw at her specifically, despite how hard/high profile a target she is, and send in competent killers after her. Something tied to the Crystal empire? Discord crew? (we havent heard of them in AGES, the last bit i remember was that they corrupted the elements, a Discord dream bout getting said elements and the scenes with Taya)
Also, killer baby. Reminded me of "Home Alone", but with murder.
And Nav just going with it, less bitter than he used to, both towards Celly and Cadance, heck, he even forgave Rarity int he previous chapter (and accidentaly friendzoned Fluttershy, wich sort of took me by surprise when i think about it, sudden.) So.. is it the start of his character warming up more?
One mistake: Celestia’s magic toreit open
All in all, fun chapter.
I say a combination of a potent paralysis poison and the anti magic ring.
Beloved story, which keeps me from sleep, remind me that even with the end near, logic will not flaw with thee.

As a whole, the chapter was great. The tying up scene was funny in the sense that that is what they have to do in order for him to have to listen to them. Although nobody can really blame him because none really wants to hear about al that love-dovy crap. The baby scene, I honestly cant even imagine that Nav would do something like that. He officially lost his dignity and self respect if he even had any left. That lost some respect points. I have read and seen many disturbing things in my life. It was a little messed up but not completely fucked up. Killing assassins a toddler, I cannot say that I have ever heard that one before. Celestia owes him so freaking much, I cannot wait to see how he cashes this in. And we have enemies that specifically targets Cadance's kid. Things are getting rather interesting lately, hope to see more chapters soon.
Good work as always :) I look forward to your chapter updates more then the actual show episodes :)
1833403
Gotta hold onto something. They're trying to steal his humanity, but he won't let it go without a fight.
1833435
Wish fulfillment. She wanted to be a mother but by the time she was old enough she found that it was too late for her. She and Luna are both infertile due to their old age. Celestia knows this. Luna does not.
Not Cadance and baby, just baby.
1833463
Some things in life are worth it.
1833732
Infertile? Oh. OOooooh boy, that actually explains a lot. Food for thoughts.
Gotta up that security Celly!
I wanted to ask this for some time now. Because magic exists in that world and it can be used to modify Navs body, why doesn't he ask for some in body weapons like wolverine's retractable claws or something? I know how it sounds and everything, but it would be really useful in situations where he does not have access to any weapons like in that assassin scene. And it is not like Celestia or Twi cant do it, they would not be happy about it but they owe him.
1833840
Because he doesn't want his body to be fucked with. He still hates having wings, even if he knows they're useful. He wants to be human and stay human. Yes, it would occasionally be useful, but it also would make no one trust him. How long do you think it would take to get out that he is constantly armed? Why else would Celestia do that to her biggest tool unless she was planning to have him assassinate someone? Since the ponies are the only ones that can read minds, the other races would assume they were being told lies if something did happen when Navarone was in a meeting with a foreign leader. It's an interesting idea, but a bad one.
1833873
Him wanting to stay human is a rather late at this point as the only thing that is human about him would be his physical appearance and mind set. Anyone nowadays would want to have such powers even if nobody would use them in modern day. In all honesty, wouldn't you take that option if you were in that position, because any advantage in that world would be welcome for me. Besides, everyone more or less know that he is armed constantly, the knife in the boot proof of that. And this would be a secret weapon where those who see it do not stay alive for long or sworn to secrecy. The situation regarding a death of the foreign leader would result in lies anyway because well magic. That can be used as an excuse for pretty much anything now. And he could ask Chrysalis or maybe Flo to help in that.
1833931
I also don't want to make him more overpowered than he is. He killed two assassins while he was tiny with no real muscle mass to speak of. They weren't expecting him, sure, but he's getting to the point of being a Marty Stu just because I made him near genius level in terms of intelligence. I don't want to give him weapons he doesn't want that would make him even more innately powerful without the tools he's been given. I need to have him able to be helpless because otherwise the story just gets boring.
1833963
He has his human flaws and you could make that as his weakness. True, he does make smarter decisions that most would not even consider and he did figure out how things really work in that world. Most would honestly fall in line with Celestia and believe in her being a kind and motherly figure. Intelligence is his human advantage, any human has some set of skills or quality that could help them in that kind of situation. Nav got one of the best ones. But when magic is involved anybody can become overpowered if they really wanted to. It would have probably been better to introduce the claws early on and then build up from there as problems would easily arise from them.
1834111
The problem with them is that they would bleed like crazy and they would get infected almost immediately. They're constant open wounds and they would hurt like hell coming out of his skin. The reason it doesn't hurt for what's-his-face is because his body was built to handle them and he has that instant healing thing. For Navarone, it would end poorly. You can say magic as much as you want, but you can't ignore biology. I'll pass on this.
1834156
You can always bypass biology, he is half tree now after all. The claws were just an idea, he could have stronger then steel nails or something instead. Nav will get stronger with time and probably with the help of the elementals or even more magic and he is learning to fight. That is what characters do, they grow.
1834175
The half tree thing is biology. Again, I don't want him to get overpowered. He is growing as it is now, but if I give him too much too fast his growth will be stunted or seen as unbelievable. He has an enchanted sword and he has hidden knives and he sort of knows how to street fight from his old life. He has a set of very light plate armor and a ring that makes him immune to magic. He also has a set of bloody wings and a voice in his head that lets him breathe underwater. I'm not giving him more weaboo body weapons.
I'm going to say this nice and simple. Love it. Can't weait for next chapter as always.
Amazing as always.
Also why ask Nav to become a baby and not some random servant
I honestly could not stop laughing at the part when he was a baby, I was laughing my ass off so hard I thought I was gonna die from laughter. Baby killing two assassins, he just earned himself an achievement and a title: Assassin Slayer at the age of....whatever how old he is.
1835260
He wasn't actually a baby, he was just much smaller than usual. Still, Cadance thought he was less than a year old, so there's that.
1835029
Wish fulfillment.
So Home Alone-esque
1835440 They need to give him a medal or something for all the shit he goes through, and for each medal he just throws to the corner with the other rewards and crap he got over the years.
Silly friendzoned Fluttershy. At least Rarity and Navi are starting to patch things up. For now.
That was not a fetish. That was Celestia experimenting, or wishing to be a parent again. Something odd going on.
Regardless, Navi is still dangerous as a baby. Skyla might have a childhood crush on him when she gets older, or treat him as an annoyance.
1836271
It kind of falls into a fetish because she tried to breast feed him and she was molesting the hell out of his wings. And she did not let him finish, that was the real crime of this chapter.
1837085
She figured a reward for Nav was needed, since he let her do that and she knew how much he hated it.
1837180
He doesn't even have to ask for the reward it is a must after all of that happened. Hell, the demands should be mile long after all of that.
Celestia living out a dream she could never have, some what sad for her to want it and not being able to gain it. Well that is life, or a fantasy filled life in her case.
I started this story 3 days ago. I just caught up. Finally, I can sleep.
Out of curiosity, how much time do you average writing per day?
1839768
Depends on the day. Yesterday I didn't write at all. It was nice.
.....aww now I half to till this updates....unless its been aborted or something..that would suck
1847673
I've been responding and updating as you've been reading. Hell, I think I updated twice in the time since you started.
I am wondering what kind of person was Nav before he came to Equestria. You gave some hints about his life, but what was his life before that? What was his childhood like? What was his family like and what was his relation to each family member? What kind of personality did he have and why? What were his dreams and convictions? Plans for the future? What kind of friends did he have? The kind of company he associates himself with? Any and all little things that most look past or don't pay attention to.
I am trying to draw up a psychological profile of who he was before all the magic and stuff. If any of these questions are spoilers than do not answer them.
1851695
Some of these questions will be answered later, but not all of them. In the chapter I'm writing now, he just mentioned in passing some small part of his past. And he's mentioned a lot before.
His parents are divorced. He has a sister. His childhood wasn't that great. His parents weren't around much and when they were they didn't do much interaction with him or his sister. He was effectively a genius or close to it most of his life. This didn't tend to earn him friends, but after the first time he beat the everloving shit out of a bully he wasn't bothered that much anymore. He was mildly religious. He planned to go to college, hopefully majoring in a computer field--much good that did him. He didn't have many friends because he wasn't exactly a friendly or fun person. Basically, he was one of those smart loners that didn't really care much about anything. He was close to two people, one of which was his sister. The other was the most beautiful person in his world.
Also, what's this for?
1851766
It is mostly out of curiosity and it gives me a better understanding of what kind of person he is and why he does the things he does. The reasoning behind the actions are determined in part by ones past experience, outlook on life, genetics and manny other things that would take too long to list. Nav is interesting as a person by himself.
Also, Merry Christmas or the politically correct Happy Holidays!!!
1858924
He's pretty drunk. He's been sharing some stuff with Dash, and if she drink enough to get drunk then Nav's pretty far gone. But I'm surprised you've never heard that joke, wherein the verb and drunk get swapped. I've seen it in a number of shows.
