Celestia's daydreams are nothing like that. Indeed, when her mind wanders, she imagines what her life would be like if she was an ordinary mare. No tiara, no wings, no castle. Just an ordinary mare living an ordinary life in an ordinary town.
What would those daydreams look like?

Liked this a lot. There were a few mistakes and typos, but nothing severe enough to pull one out of the story. The Twilestia bit was a pleasant surprise ;-)

I rather liked this perspective of Celestia, wishing she was a normal unicorn, reinforced by the narrator showing that being a diplomat is almost infinitely tiresome and that Celestia would rather have no part of it. I'm not a fan of Twilestia at all, but that's a personal nitpick. Great story.

5264150 If you did not wish to start a shipping war, you likely shouldn't have suggested alternate pairings that would have made you, personally, more comfortable with the story as ways to improve it. And Second Canon is non-canon, basically. It means nothing until it reaches the show, which it never will.
As for how Flashlight is relevant, it showcases what a more measured response to a pairing you personally dislike cropping up in a story you felt had no need for it would be: i.e., nothing. The story was about how Celestia unwinds, and the author chose to show that including an idle fantasy of living a married life with a close loved one. The only non-family loved one we know she has in proper canon. Ergo, if you see a Romance tag about Celestia, expect going into it that it might have a pairing you, personally, don't agree with or like. If an entire story can be killed by a pairing you dislike showing up, maybe it's best not to read Romance stories on your cellphone.

Human Religions and Social policies aside, I find some problems with Twilestia, amd most mare-mare shippings in general.
First, As far as we've seen in canon, Twilight is straight. There hasn't been a hint of her being romantically or sexually interested in mares.
Second, her relationship with Celestia in the show is VERY non-romantic and is defined so much as teacher/Princess and student that even after Twilight becomes an effective equal to Celestia, she still behaves as though Celestia is her superior. Celestia may perhaps have feelings for her, and this is Celestia's dream and therefore her fantasy, but it isn't indicated in the show.
Third, (I may be mistaken, feel free to correct me) there has not been a mare-mare canon relationship. Everything we've seen, from Shining and Cadence to Rarity and Trenderhoof, has been stallion-mare. The CMC in searching for a partner for Cheerilee didn't even consider a mare. So far, as far as canon is concerned, all or the vast majority of ponies are straight.

Second, that's a highly personally subjective stance as to how the bond Twilight and Celestia have is defined. I see her as having a crush, and that being the reason why she is so obsessive as well as subservient. Not merely about pleasing Celestia, but about Celestia's happiness in general. In fact, Celestia outright rejects the stance that they are merely student and teacher in Princess Twilight Sparkle, saying she will be there for her regardless of what they are and what their bond may be like. Third, Lyra and Bon Bon are shown in the couples montage during the Hearts and Hooves Day's song. So, no, basically nothing you are saying actually has any canon backing, and you're pretty much completely wrong.

Also, I think you may not understand Strawman Fallacy (spelled with an "a", not an "I")...This is not setting up an exaggerated element of your behaviour so I can make you look less rational. Nor is it me saying your comment is not a "true" comment or has no value. It's more providing an alternative, less contentious way of dealing with your own distress at a subject than commenting that a story was "ruined" by a single plot element you profess is not important later on.

Yes, the experience being canon =/= the entire story. However, Meghan didn't say only the experience was canon. She said it happened (as in all of EqG happened), it just didn't effect the main show (Or at least Season 4) in any way.

I did not see this on the Tropes page. From the Staff, it was all Meghan saying EqG and Season 4 were separte things (but both canon), with one comment from Michael Vogel.
From Others, was a comment that EqG had no bearing on the show (Not that it was non-canon), and that source was not the most accurate.
Plus, It's a quite a leap to say Twilight is into mares just because the scenes where she's in a straight relationship don't have bearing on the show.
Since we've only seen a straight relationship from her in canon, I must regard lesbian shippings as not-likely at best.
Absolutely wonderful story, and a well-deserved feature. While there were, as others have pointed out, some minor grammar and punctuation issues, the story of Celestia dreaming of a simpler life was nice and fluffy. And the ending Twilestia was just the icing on the cake. Basically, the only improvement i could think of apart from some editing is that I would love to see some more interaction between Twilight and Celestia.
