It all happened so fast. One minute they were there, and the next she was standing in their ashes.

It wasn't fair. They’d devoted their entire lives to defending Equestria, and what was their reward? To be cut down in the blink of an eye. Weren't they supposed to be the heroes? Weren't they the good guys, the chosen ones, the saviors of the land? This wasn’t the way things were supposed to go!

Alone.

Twilight wouldn't accept it. No, she couldn't accept it. How could fate be so cruel? Why did she have to be the only one left alive? Why did she have to suffer on with such a terrible burden, reliving that terrible moment again and again for all eternity? No, regardless of what anyone said or did, she knew that a terrible mistake had been made, and she would see it fixed...

...no matter what the cost.

The princesses are accused of committing an inexcusable crime. They are banished to the depths of Tartarus as punishment and the next member of the royal family is crowned ruer of Equestria. Prince Blueblood. He is now crowned king of Equestria and his actions speak louder than words. 9 years after he is crowned king, the city of Canterlot has flourished and expanded even more, but as for other countries like Ponyville, they have all plummeted into a state of drought, food is scarce and the economy fails. Ever since the arrival of the new king, all of Equestria has been in a state of everlasting winter. Now the mane 6 are on a journey to overthrow the king and bring back the princesses and the harmony they once shined upon the land. Lines will be drawn, friendships will be lost ; will Twilight, her friends and the Elements of Harmony be strong enough against this new foe and bring back harmony to Equestria?

After a thorough study of Nightmare Night, Twilight Sparkle brings forward questions of her studies to Princess Celestia, who gives her a mysterious books in hopes of answering her questions.

Twilight, seeing that her friend needed a little bit of companionship, decided to help him get a date.

But boy, did he aim a little too high for her taste.

Now, her and Spike need to help this putz of a human snatch a date from one of the most undateable beings on the planet, Princess Celestia.

Needless to say, they're doomed.

Discord has given up. Defeated so easily? It's time to retire. But he can't just leave Equestria without chaos can he? So he selects a random human to take up his mantle and to create a new reign of chaos.

Can this human manage new powers? Will he go mad or he will he end up as a statue for foals to gawk at? Is there a third option? Not very likely but with this much power he's going to try his best to create chaos and harmony at the same time.

I do promise to try and keep this light hearted and relatively comedic. Oh right I wrote this in response to the 50 000 word pony story contest. I failed horribly but I thought I'd post what I've got up here. I do plan on finishing this and it being around 50 000 words in the end.

A little warning for you in that the prologue is written very differently then the rest of the story. Also it is mostly unnecessary if you want to skip it altogether. The other thing I promise is that the romance is between ponies only and ponies that appear in the show.

It's over. She's been with Celestia for years. She's absolved Luna of her crimes. She's been instrumental in defeating Sombra, and has revealed a Changeling invasion. She's even helped in reforming Discord. And now, her time is over. In the time that she's had, she's tried to do her best. She's tried so hard to live up to what other ponies expect of her.

And they were happy with how she was shaping up.

They wanted her to succeed.

Now all they want is to see her dead.
