After a week traveling through the Everfree Forest without sun, Twilight Sparkle and company have arrived at Castle Everfree, ready to face Nightmare Moon.

They are not prepared.

A Story within the Sparkyverse canon, but prior knowledge is not necessary (And in fact, hard to find, as I haven't been writing as much as I could have been.) Originally written as one full document, I broke it all up into smaller chunks, as otherwise the pacing gets a bit funny.

(Also, this was meant to be a Halloween story. Whoops. Merry Christmas everybody!)

The zeal of an unholy tyrant would we need to continue, but, ne'er shall we allow it, for thy subjects we love all too much," she openly lamented. With an unsteady hoof, she attempted to assuage her irritated brow. "Thou wouldst leave us here, broken-hearted, damn'd departed, whilst fleeing our sacred bounds all the same. Or should we say 'ye', as 'twould seem none are here for me."

A retelling of Luna and Celestia's tragic schism, told in most archaic ways. I gave it my best, honestly.

An immortal's demons never die.

After being banished to the moon, Nightmare Moon discovers that Princess Celestia had left her a journal to record the days as they went by. But what kind of secrets will be revealed when one's been alone for so long?

When you are born, you are released from your mother's womb into a warm and safe place, full of love and care. But when Nightmare Moon was born, she was released in a place of death, in a crime station, full of cold, despair, fear, hate and danger. A crime, which made everypony shudder as it never ever had happen before. This is the story of two brothers, in which one suffers a terrible fate, and a dark, small filly was born out of this as a consequence. This is the story of Nightmare's origin.

Everypony knows which princess watches over their dreams. She is the one who they pray to every night, wishing for their rest to bring comfort rather than suffering.

One night, other duties exhaust her ahead of time, and the princess falls asleep on the job. Nopony is there to watch over her.

The Nightmare has returned

And she has no plans on leaving

Magical beings besides the Sirens have been banished to the human world. The Nightmare finds its way to Luna and persuades her to merge with it, on the pretense of protecting the students from even worse monsters. But when she starts to become a monster herself, it's up to the new Team Harmony to set things right. This is NOT a retread of the pilot episode.

“In a thousand years, our love will still be here.” Chrysalis whispered as she stared up at the full moon, an imprint of a mare appeared on the surface. She placed a hoof on her chest and smiled. “Always.”

Not many ponies know that Queen Chrysalis was there in the beginning. She promised Nightmare Moon their love will remain until she is freed from the banishment placed upon her by Princess Celestia.

Inspiration

Princess Celestia transports six humans to Equestria and studies their culture and behavior. They will face many hardships in their lifetime in Equestria. Though along the way they will meet: friends, enemies, and even the occasional douche bag. Though something bigger is brewing over the horizon. This is my first story written constructive so criticism is appreciated.
