  • Intro to Ponies 26 stories These are good even if you know little more about ponies than that some friends turned Nightmare Moon back into Princess Luna with magic friendship beams.

  • ❤ Pony Prose Perfection 34 stories Because even my Highly Recommended wasn't selective enough for these gems (<3% of stories I enjoy make it onto this list). These deserve more stars than I can reasonably give.

  • Pony Prose Imperfection 2 stories Would be in Pony Prose Perfection were it not for that one pesky serious flaw. In the case of both stories presently listed, that's entirely contained in the (skippable) epilogue.

  • ⁂ Highly Recommended 168 stories Stories I greatly enjoyed, that grab me and don't let go. (Five stars, basically.)

  • Flawed Gems 20 stories Would be in Highly Recommended were it not for that one pesky serious flaw (usually favorable treatment of immorality).

  • ⋆⋆⋆⋆ Recommended 1122 stories Not merely enjoyable, but quite excellent. (Four stars and up, if you will.)

  • Missing Piece 110 stories Would be in Recommended were it not for that one pesky serious flaw (usually favorable treatment of immorality).

  • Pick-Me-Up 112 stories To cheer the reader quickly and raise their spirits. Usually also in Recommended or up, but not always.

  • ⋆⋆⋆ Nice 2473 stories - 408 unread chapters The usual list of stories I enjoyed. (In essence, three stars and up.)

  • Cracked Glass 143 stories Would be listed in Nice were it not for that one pesky fatal flaw (usually favorable treatment of immorality).

  • Bloom Filter Trifecta 0 stories Stories in this bookshelf have gone beyond the impossible by including an algorithm with a name that puns off the main character's name and story title.

  • Proofread 1 stories Stories that I've worked on as a proofreader.

Everypony has a story. Some tell of heroic feats and grand adventure. Others tell of villainy against the forces of Harmony. The story of an average guard, however, is one of obscurity. They live in the background, unnoticed but ever-present.

Silent Knight assumed his tale would be like that of his father's: join the Royal Guard and serve Equestria. He would be just another helmet and spear, part of the rank and file. And that was all he ever wanted.

However, when Captain Shining Armor asked for volunteers to form a House Guard for the recently returned Princess Luna, it was Silent's hooves that stepped forwards to set his new life in motion.

'Do not trust an alicorn who weighs any less than her operating manual' - Author of this Guide

Sometimes your alicorn throws a temper tantrum and runs around the house turning off all the lights while declaring herself a new breed of adorable evilness. Sometimes sibling squabbles leave you with a tearful alicorn refusing to raise the moon and allow the day to end. Keep calm and read this guide. This guide will walk you through how to safely contain evil dark pony overlords using readily available household implements such as the humble cardboard box. And if all else fails, it will at least help you make effective use of the astrophysics of alicorn anatomy to manually override the raising, lowering and general joyriding of various celestial bodies.

Published by the Royal Canterlot Publishing House for the Royal Equestrian Diplomatic Mission to Earth. For human audiences only. No alicorns (or humans) were harmed in the making of this guide.

Contains: Princess Luna being generally mischievous and adorable for Hearthswarming Eve. Also contains cardboard. Surprisingly does not contain any bubblewrap for once.

This is a standalone story, but it does sort of have a 'previous episode' you can read here. Reading it is not required to enjoy this particular story, but it's a fun short read in its own right.

Sort of my Christmas fic. I decided to get it done early as I'll be working this Christmas. Again. Happy Hearthswarming, everyone!
