It has been nearly a thousand years since Twilight Sparkle died. Celestia and Luna are gone. The Holy Equestrian Diarchy, ruled by a bigoted and brutal theocracy, has driven ponies apart and divided them along tribal lines. Unicorns are driven from society, feared and hated.

The lessons of friendship, painstakingly written down in the journal of friendship by Princess Twilight and her friends, have been warped and twisted to fit the Diarchy's hateful ideology. But to the average pony, this is the truth and reality of the world they live in, beset on all sides by enemies monstrous and magical.

Emberglow, a young pegasus mare, aspires to join the elite Knights, magically enhanced warriors dedicated to the holy Saints worshiped by the state religion. Can she uncover the lies and deceptions that have led the world to this bitter place?

This story is a sequel to You've Got Debt

Takes place after the events of You've Got Debt by, Coronet the lesser.

Note: This is a non canon sequel.

After just becoming The new Ruler of Equestria, Twilight learns that The Crown is in debt of six hundred billion bits shared across many different kingdoms, all because of Celestia's many economic blunders that she didn't know of until now.

It turns out Celestia kept many important secrets from Twilight and with each new info revealed to her like how she have to marry The Saddle Arabian Prince, Saladin, just to cover half of the debt that is owed, only made her more angry and outrage, when she also learned that Celestia trick her into performing a marriage ritual for the The Saddle Arabians.

So with no other choice Twilight vows to fix all of the problems left to her and pay back the debt in full and make sure this crisis never happens again and the second all is said and done she will make sure that Celestia pays for all this.

Twilight Sparkle has fulfilled her destiny and become the sole ruler of Equestria.

Unfortunately, at her first council meeting, she learns a terrible truth.

Equestria is a bit of a mess.

Thankfully, on her dubious, evil trek, a dying, enamoured dragon, vows to assist her. Quiet and competent, Spike is everything she needs. However, all his calm, electrifying quips about her and her body are enough to deck him through a wall!

And Starlight can't tell who she hates more: him, or the world!

Twilight Sparkle and friends spend a peaceful evening together playing cards.

That is until their future selves decide to show up to stop them all from ruining their lives.

Just as the title says, what would happen if two of the most deceitful ponies around took the place of Applejack and Big Mac?

Can the two older stallions work an “honest” day and be good role models for Applebloom, or will they try to cheat their way to success while avoiding Granny’s eye?

Spike is a dragon with mare troubles, and one of those mares just happens to be his mother. When he meets Lyra, who has troubles of her own, he hatches a plot that they think will be mutually beneficial.

Synopsis

With the relationship between the Council of Friendship and the nobles of Equestria at stake, he is certain this gala could only end in a big political disaster. Enter Princess Luna, cunningly disguised as the sweet elegant mare by his side, intent on turning him from a laughingstock into the star of the show. But jealousy and misfortune swiftly strike, leaving Luna permanently stuck in her disguise. Together they must maintain their cover until they somehow figure out how to fix everything. As the days pass, as the 'one more day's turn into a week, they slowly come to a startling realization - Perhaps there is nothing to fix?
