To my faithful student, Twilight Sparkle,
Admittedly that is a euphemism I haven't actually heard of before. Speaking as somepony with a great many embarrassing or painful memories in her past, however, I feel I may offer you some advice.
In life, Twilight, there are times we wish we could do differently or do over. There's things we learn that make past actions seem terribly silly, or things we wish we did not know. That's okay, it happens to everypony. Just know that embarrassment and pain are temporary, and the growth you experience, the strengthening of your soul through these trials will stay with you always. The worst shall pass if you can let it, the best shall stay with you always. When it is our turn to go to the Summer Lands, we'll look back on the bad with the good and smile, knowing that we did our very best, and it is worth it for the wonderful times that we have had.

It comes from a few years back when I hung out more actively with other bronies and the topic of an afterlife came up. Since early in pony history and probably the last period with the most deaths was the Windigo incident, it occurred to me that the pony afterlife would probably be believed to be someplace that's always warm, wide and open with friends and family that have gone before you. So, Summer Lands.

Funny enough, Summer Lands is what Wiccan's call the afterlife. Place you go and meet family, friends and loved ones before having another go at life via reincarnation. Can see how it came about too, 6 Elements of Harmony in the show and 6 Elements of the World in Wicca (Fire, Water, Air, Earth, and Spirit making Harmony). Sorry for the long comment, thought it'd be an interesting tidbit. Lol
Uh, gotta disagree with that idea, because I’m pretty sure I still cringe when thinking of things I did when I was a kid and that was over 20 years ago.

Huh. I thought it was a reference to Valinor from the Lord of the Rings, aka the Undying Lands. The reason I thought that was because the finale referenced it with Luna and Celestia going to the "Silver Shores"

I think telling people they did their best when you and they know they didn’t is a bit of a kick in the teeth. You don’t look back and say, “I did my best.” It’s like saying “I did my best and everyone else did their best, but you didn’t and we think you did because we don’t known better, you fraud you.”
We instead look back on our lives and say, “I wish I had done my best.” Learning to shrug and say, “Ah well, I’ll just keep trying anyway” matters far more than achieving it.
