Letter 67.1: Here.
I really don't have much to say about this one. It raises questions I as a person really don't want to delve into, so... offscreen problem solving!
And clearly the only crown-approved necromancer is Luna.
ToDear
Anon,
I'm on my way. And I'm bringing my sister.
CelestiaPS. Did you know there is exactly one licensed crown Necromancer?

Oh dear, this isn't going to end well...

The crescent on her backside doubles as a reaper's sickle.
How can they resurrect the "old" Twilight, if there was no new soul created?
Because it seems that the explosion was caused by the lack of a new soul/mind. She tried to occupy both bodies at the same time, because the copy was too perfect, and one of the bodies exploded.
At least that would explain why the old body exploded if the copy was perfect. Resurrecting it otherwise would cause more problems because too many Twilights ...

If it's the old Twilight with a new body, then all's well. If not, then all will be well.
Anon, did you forget to put Twiggle’s meds in her coffee today? Has she caught on? What’s going on? She goes from actual, honest-to-god friendship lesson to lying Princess Sunbutt about potentially very very dangerous magic. Wtf dude?
Oh no, now anon's going to have to put up with two purple autists.
9890098
It was a combination to saying she had a big ass, and the letter addressed to 'smacks-a-lot'. She took the name as a suggestion.
9890061
To be fair Twilight almost certainly lied to Anon too, or else he would have been much more upfront about the risks. Maybe sarcastic, but very likely sending one letter that looked normal and a second letter telling Celestia to get there now.
Which says a good bit about Twilight, in that she knew she was doing this the wrong way around, and figured all would be fine and she could just apologize to Anon for lying about it afterwards. Until she exploded.

Oh, absolutely, I've been massively enjoying the heck out of this story because you write Celestia so well. I don't like when people write her as only depressed or only pranking or only motherly. You write Celestia like a person, albeit a person who's lived a very long time and is genuinely trying to see the absolute best in everypony and everyone, as much as that vision doesn't line up with reality sometimes. She has good days, she has bad days, she gets excited and she gets scared, and you show all of those emotions fantastically through the simple medium of responses to letters. I've read fics that can't layer Celestia like this in 100,000 words that you're doing in under 500.
You're doing a fantastic job with these, and I hope you continue to do so, because you have Celestia absolutely nailed the heck down personality-wise.
9890152
Huh. Missed that first one. Course, my man Ray would've been able to see those other two things going on.

I wanted to take the time to say "Thank you" to such high praise. I'm really glad I can do Celestia credit, and it's very encouraging to have your writing and characterization complimented like that. It's readers saying things like this or an earlier comment about how Tia saying things like she's proud or disappointed feeling meaningful that really make me happy to share things like this with others.
So thank you very much for your encouragement.

Well, it's magic so it's all speculation on our part. But if it were the case that no new soul was created and Twily part Deux is a replacement only in body, a necromancer probably would be the go to professional to make that determination.
9883553
Possibly (late reply!), but I haven't exactly gone around and tried to trace it. I just noticed folks weren't using that term for a pony afterlife before I discussed it with others. So it could be a ripple or it could be convergent evolution of terms.
If she's the only necromancer then who handled such problems during her abeyance?
9890660
Probably had one very carefully monitored pony do it per generation.
If there's only one, you need another one, just in case the first one dies and can't resurrect his/herself from The Other Side.
9889971
I love this head canon. It reminds me of Luna’s role in “A Hearthswarming Tail”.
9891030
Bold of you to assume a necromancer can't cast a spell anywhere.
Ah, Celestia? One is none. Two is one. If it's important, you need a backup.
I want to know these uncomfortable questions of yours.
Though I want to, maybe, offer helpful perspectives on such.
