Following after the events of 'Rainbow Rocks' and 'Sunset Shimmer's Time to Shine (Novel)' and before the events of 'Friendship Games'. Sunset Shimmer decides one afternoon that it's time to change her look from the evil girl who once ruled Canterlot High School with an Iron Fist, sort to speak, to the girl who's seeking redemption and hoping to make new friends in the future.

After a tragic experience with a dare, Rainbow makes a hasty trip to Wall-Mart, more specifically, to the oral hygiene aisle.

Aria Blaze is coming home after a very anger-inducing day. Normally, she would vent it out by bullying someone or breaking something.

There is however another way.

It requires a sacrifice.

To make matters worse, magic seems to be running amok during the competition, and Sunset Shimmer finds herself amidst an existential crisis as she attempts to find her place in the world.

It's also progress reports time at Canterlot High, and one of the Super Fun™ activities planned (by Twilight, who else?) involves an unboxing of their grades. This doesn't go too well when Rainbow is forced to reveal her whopping 0.3 GPA and leaves in tears.
Intelligence comes in many forms, but Fs only come in one. Luckily for Rainbow Dash, that's the letter that friendship starts with.
