Discord is reformed and now on the path towards becoming a productive member of society. To help him stay on the straight and narrow, Fluttershy begins to write letters to him, with the two quickly becoming pen pals. With their sharing of letters, Fluttershy begins to learn more about the conundrum known as Discord, while Discord learns what it truly means to be a friend.

The difference in their life expectancies doesn’t help, but that’s a problem Discord can fix with a snap of the talons—that is, until Fluttershy finds out. Discord isn’t one to give up easily, though. He’ll do anything to keep his one and only friend. Anything.

One is a former royal guard out of her element, having been forced into early retirement for her violent tendencies.

One is a narrator, trying to make some sense out of their antics and build a comprehensible story.

Together they intend to get rich: it all goes downhill from there.

Before he left, Spike make a horrible mistake. He told all of his friends that he would leave Ponyville to cleanse the demon within him and to make amends for the suffering he brought. All of his friends didn't want him to leave, but he made up his mind. He said farewell to his saddened friends and painfully walked away from what he called "home". He told himself to venture of to the "Cavern of Greed". There, he can fight the demon from within...

5 years after the incident and all is peaceful in the town called Ponyville. Not a frown to be seen; not a cry to be heard. All was calm till a mysterious cloaked stranger came to the peaceful town. All the noise; all the chattering ceased. The stranger walked until he was in the middle of the town and simply said, "I'm home".
