Simple question, simple answer. Of course I do.
Now, things didn't turn out quite the way I expected.

Let me explain something for you: In Equestria there exists a race of cat people. Usually around 5-6ft tall, agile and pretty strong to boot.
Me? I got the short end of the feline-stick...

This is my story, as Jazz the cat.

(Set in the universe of 'Chess Game of the Gods', originally created by Rust and Blackwing, expanded by the fans).
This is just for me to relax and write something funny for you to enjoy. Hope you like it.

What do you do when the world itself seems to conspire against you, where no matter how hard you try; you are constantly pushed back down? Do you stand against it as a lone light in the dark? Or do you too fall into the abyss and join the masses? This is the story of my life, or I should say this was the story of my life before it was taken from my cruel and heartless world and put into one that was just as cruel and heartless but with new rules and a new body. My attempt at a story in the Chess Game of the Gods ‘verse that seems to be expanding daily. Picture is not mine (three cheers to Google for the artistically inept)

In our lives, we are presented with many choices, and these choices define our very existence. You can choose to be evil, you can choose to be good, or you can choose to walk the line between good and evil. I too have had to make choices in my many years of life, some I wouldn't take back no matter what, and some I would give anything to reverse, but probably the biggest choice I've ever been presented with, the choice that changed my life, for better and worse, was the choice to come to Equestria, and become a pawn in a very deadly game.

I am Shadow, and this is my tale.

A fic placed within the universe of "The Chess Game of the Gods"

I was a video game programmer.

My career revolved around taking an idea for entertainment, programming it into existence, and making sure it ran smoothly.
You see, a game is only entertaining when it has rules. Rules that define risk and reward. Rules that set boundaries. Rules that, under no circumstances, should be broken.

Even the most open of sandbox games still have limits and I suppose one might even consider 'life' the biggest, most rewarding game of all.

So imagine my surprise when my skill set rewards me with an extra-dimensional house guest appearing in my closet who wishes to take my troubleshooting ability to the most extreme definition.

You see, Discord has started a Game. A Game that involves hundreds if not thousands of humans (or other critters) being drawn into a world I had previously only believed to be fantasy. Each of these Pawns in turn have (more often than not) a patron deity, their Game Master if you would. The Pawns cause mischief or engage in heroism, the Patrons gain influence and power, there may be a wish involved, and Discord gets entertained. None of this directly affects me however.

What does affect me is The Watcher (my visitor) needing me to keep an eye on this world for him, for reasons I can't completely comprehend yet. For Discord to agree to my involvement, I must also deal with Rogue Pawns and their Uninvited Patrons who would disrupt and destroy his Game in ways even he dislikes, since he and the other Game Masters can't become implicitly involved. Apparently it gets messy when they do that.

My reward for complying with both of them; a new body gifted with fantastic abilities, and the chance to explore a world I had only dreamed of and watched from afar.

The price of my failure; the potential end of everything, including the Gods themselves.

I am Alif.

I am the Arbiter.

I can't afford to lose.

Nothing is as they seem. Equestria, a land that many would assume to be the most wonderful world to exist, is all a miraculous illusion. Its joyous environment and lovable equines are all an incredibly convincing lie. Beneath the folds of this world's false beauty is an environment so horrifying, that the most rudimentary of the truth would chill the blood and freeze the heart. Trust me. I would know... a freak like me has seen this world on the inside and out, and has witnessed the terrors it contains.

You think I'm mad... I can see it by the look in your eyes. You think my story is impossible, eh? Well, it's not your fault for thinking that. Who WOULDN'T be driven mad by the horrors I'd seen? But I assure you... all of it, every last word down to the last period, is true.

Now sit down, please... and I shall tell you a tale like none which you have ever heard.

Having failed to reach Davy Jones' Locker with the rest of his crew, Captain Hector Barbossa finds himself stranded within a hell many times more terrifying; a land infested with magical talking horses and little baby dragons. Despite the odds being stacked against him and the inhabitants of Ponyville at his back every step of the way, he vows to return to his own world and finish the quest he started.

If only fate did not have a new adventure in store for him. An adventure that could very well change the fate of Equestria and the Caribbean seas forever...

(if you you haven't read 'Echo the daimond dog' and 'Griffin the griffin' read them first, this story is based on the theories they have of what goes on in Equestria and beyond it's borders; plus, they're both great reads)
They told me i could be anything......... well, I really didn't have a choice in this situation. Normally when a human goes to Equestria, they say human or become a pony, or a least that's what usually what happens in fanfics; that's not my case. of all things I could have become, I became a Demon from the pits of Tartarus.

Ambushed. Defeated. Broken. Banished from his world, he expected his story to end, his revenge unfulfilled. Instead, he found himself in a new world - a world of peace, tranquility, and harmony.

May God help them.

When a guy with a British accent walks into your backyard and wants to talk about ponies just walk away and lock the door behind you. Among all things to remember is if someone asks if you want to go to Equestria choose your words very carefully more than likely you won't get exactly what you asked for.

This is a part of the story universe called "Chess Game of the Gods", which took its' start in "The Ballad of Echo the Diamond Dog" which was continued upon by Blackwing in his story "Griffin the Griffin", and now the whole planet is a playing board for some easily amused deities.

My name is Eric, Eric James Carlson if you want to be formal and this is my story of how I got sent to Equestria by the Eris, the greek God of Chaos because Discord presented her with a game but i find out that Equestria isn't the land of sunshine and puppy dogs that it is on the TV show. Now i have to figure out what I'm gonna do while I'm here and stuck in the middle of a three-sided war. Admittedly I took a few ideas from Rust and Blackwing's Chess Game of the Gods world in that outside of Equestria sucks, the gods who like to mess around with mortals and a few of the weapons used but it is a different universe. Picture isn't mine but it matches pretty well what is in my head. This is my first fanfic and I know my grammer probably isn't the best but I'm not a professional writer so be gentle. Will add characters as they appear.
