If only there were a "Bittersweet" tag...

Mrs. Sullivan is used to death. One doesn't get to be sixty-seven years old without experiencing it. But she never thought that she'd have to bury her own grandchild - especially not her six-year old granddaughter. The night after the incident, however, she is taken to a world where magic and love might wash away the pain in her heart.

I had always wondered what life in Equestria would be like if I went there; having adventures with the mane 6, learn about the magic of friendship, all that good stuff, with ponies.

It's something that I had wished for a long time...

And of course, life decides to send me to Canterlot High.
Life just isn't fair, is it?

When Twilight and Applejack have a falling out over who can claim to have the best big brother, each will stop at nothing to prove theirs is better.

And their brothers will stop at nothing to make their sisters happy.

Ever had one of those days where everything's just gone wrong, one problem after another?

Of course you have.

Ever had one of those days when you wake up to find you've accidentally switched places with your counterpart in a world where you and all your friends are stallions?

...No?

Maybe that's just Twilight, then.

But the Princess of Magic isn't going to let a little thing like being in the wrong universe ruin her day. She has a schedule - a checklist! - and it matches up with this Dusk Shine's perfectly. Apart from the names and the genders, everything seems to be a match, and Ponyville has seen much weirder things since she moved here.

Being stallions or mares shouldn't make her friends that different. What could possibly go wrong?

Everyone has done it at some time. Made that wish upon a falling star, or otherwise gazed longingly with hope into the night sky. Though maybe, we've just been doing it at the wrong time.

Maxwell is a physicist, on his way to finally having his Ph.D, and getting tired of the seemingly minimal impact his work will have in the field as a whole.

That is, until he makes his wish.

Now he's in a bright world full of bright ponies. Also they can talk. And do magic. And fly.

Having hooves is going to take some getting used to.

The Morning Courts are one of Equestria's oldest and most hallowed traditions; beginning at Sun's rise upon the summer solstice. It is a celebration that would have once dwarfed the Galloping Gala; a week long fete that the princesses open, reaffirming to all of Equestria that their promise of safety and prosperity will never be forgotten. It is during this grand celebration that the plebeians and commons have a chance to petition the diarchs of Equestria. Everyone and everyone, from great to small.

What could go wrong?

Flitter doesn't like most ponies. There's hardly anything in the world Flitter likes, very few which she can even remotely tolerate, and only a couple which she truly loves. Fluttershy is not in the last two categories. Flitter sees Fluttershy as weak, and weakness disgusts her.

But when you're trying to help someone you love, you'll look for help in a lot of places -- including the cottage of the weakest pony in the world.

And for those willing to listen past their pain, it might be the place where they start to learn what true strength is.

At Celestia's behest, Twilight Sparkle arrives in Ponyville to prepare for the Summer Sun Celebration, and potentially the return of Nightmare Moon.

Her preparations will be anything but easy. The stallions in charge of the festivities all seem to have taken a "romantic" interest in her, and every one of them is terrible at flirting. Really terrible. Really.

T for innuendo/creepy behavior. Thanks to Sereg for prereading and to Midnight Rambler for helping with the first draft song sequence. Thanks to Posey, Jetto, Blank!, and Kuroi Tsubasa Tenshi for editing (Plus three other anons who didn't give me their fimfic names).
