A teacher, student, writer, and opinionated reader. Retired from fanfic (mostly), but not writing. Responsible for the cleverpun's Critique Corner review series: http://tinyurl.com/h3ftsm3

Recommended Groups/Resources

The Proofreader Group -- As long as you read the rules and are willing to vet people before asking them, this group is a fantastic resource for writers of all types.

The Big Master Review List -- A list of all reviewed stories with links to those reviews. It is maintained by Singularity Dream. Obviously such a list can never be truly complete, but SD does a fantastic job maintaining it. This is a great resource, whether you are an author, reviewer, or reader.

Writers and Reviewers Institute for Technical Excellence -- I've had excellent experiences with reviewers from this group; they are thorough and don't pull any punches. Sadly, they appear to be inactive at this time

Taking Review Requests [OPEN] · 11:36am Jan 23rd, 2016

If [OPEN], I am accepting new requests. If [CLOSED], I am working on current requests (check back later )

If you follow me, then you are likely aware of my ongoing review series. In order to mix things up a little, I am now taking requests for stories to review. Like everything in life, there are some caveats:
*Only request reviews for one of your own stories.

The Worst of my Stories

Improvement is inevitable, and that means that not everything one writes is going to be good. This is a list of stories I wrote which are bad. Please start with stories besides the ones in this list. I could un-publish them, but even terrible writing has value sometimes. I could do better now, but they are important reminders of how far I've come.

cleverpun’s 2019 Reading Journal: January · 7:01am February 6th

Welcome to my reading journal. A common piece of writing advice is that to become a better writer, one should read a lot. There is truth to this, of course, depending on what one reads. Every month, I’ll run down all the books I’ve read, in about 300 words apiece. These aren’t full-blown reviews, but hopefully there’s still some useful information buried in them.

2594334 It's Magilou from Tales of Berseria.

Who is the woman in your avatar?

2551908 I actually have guidelines for requested reviews right over here. If you want to request a review for a specific story, try and meet them. If you want to just say "review one of my stories please", then that's fine, but the story I end up choosing may not represent you very well.

For writing advice, I do somewhat regular blogging about writing topics and techniques. Looking through my blog for the #writing tag should turn up most of them. I try and reply to comments even on older posts, but obviously I may have changed my mind or learned something new since writing a given post.

And don't worry about it. I'd much rather someone ask me a question than continue on without the answer.

Fair answer.

Out of curiosity, what would it take to have you tear one of my works apart? Would it help if I wrote something of your choosing? And do you have any writing advice you could share?

Blargh. Sorry for the question galore.

2551715 Neither; trying to cut down on caffeine :applejackunsure:
