Everyone has their circle of friends in college. Mine is relatively small. There's me, Noah, an Astronomy major. There's Klaus, a griffon, and a Game Design major. There's Maud, an earth pony, and a Geology major...

and then there's Nightshade.

She's a transfer student from Equestria, and the most recent member of our circle. Klaus, Maud and I have known her for three months, and she's adjusted nicely to life in Florida. We all consider her to be a close friend, and she seems to feel the same way about us.

But as much as we'd all like to think that we know everything about our best friends, sometimes that isn't the case.

This is an HiE/Anthro story where humans and ponies have been in contact for fifteen years, and takes place after Season 3, but in an alternate timeline from Season 4. The story takes place on Earth, and because I know someone will ask: THIS IS NOT RELATED TO ANY OF MY PREVIOUS STORIES.

Rarity is one of the most famous gem-hunters in the land of Equestria and therefore perhaps the best choice for a job given by the royals themselves. She is being called in to retrieve a gem from the deepest parts of the Canterlot mines. Together with her team she has to find the thing and bring it back to the surface. That is only the easy part. For usually it are the smaller things that give the bigger trouble.

When a book is also taken from the resting place of the gem, Rarity finds herself changed. Not for the better to say the least. New possibilities as well as horrors have opened themselves for the mare of fashion as she is seen as a monster in her own eyes. The job for the princesses might have been the final job she had ever taken as a gem-huntress before her life takes a new course. A course in the darker arts of the crystalline magic.

Friends become bitter enemies as the gears of time go on and the events turn only from bad to worse. It is said that there is light at the end of a dark tunnel, but what if you can't see that very light?

NOTE: While I do appreciate all comments I get on this story, I would personally prefer if they could say a little more than the typical "Awesome chapter, I love it!" or whatever. What do you love about it? What struck you in this chapter? What would you like to see explored or expanded? Are there things you don't think are working and if so, how could they improve?? Celestia said it herself, that Twilight Sparkle is no longer her student. While wandering around in the city of Canterlot one day, Her Highness stumbles upon Trixie's local stage show. To Her Highness, there seemed to be much potential behind the mere performer's act, and soon found it hard to resist taking Trixie under her wing.

Twilight became a princess, the Elements of Harmony were returned to the Harmony Tree, and the Heartless have returned. Now it is up to her to take the Keyblade once more and see what she can do to save, not only Equestria, but a whole different world and bring peace to a third.

Overthrowing a tyrant, killing some heartless, and making new friends. Just another day for Twilight Sparkle.

I recommend reading the first story before this one, and I also think that reading my other story "Guard Bonding". Human tag is for eventual visit to a surprise world for Kingdom Hearts fans. DarkponyD is the one to thank if you like the world once it is visited. He helped me out a lot with that, without him, I might still be stuck there.

Yet another sunny day blessed Ponyville, with Twilight Sparkle in the middle of another study session. She was in the middle of comprehending the consequences of repeated teleportation when Fluttershy knocked on her door. Answering the door, what Twilight saw shocked her; Fluttershy was flustered, panicked, saying something about the Everfree Forest. Twilight decides to investigate after preparing herself, but could possibly be out there that would bring Fluttershy to such a state?

Luna and Twilight. Once they were good friends. Now they'll discover together a higher and more strong feeling. Love.They never had this experience before. How will they handle this kind of magic? How will others react to this? Will this magic spread among the little group of friends? But they all know that it will change the courses of their whole lives.
