Rarity is one of the most famous gem-hunters in the land of Equestria and therefore perhaps the best choice for a job given by the royals themselves. She is being called in to retrieve a gem from the deepest parts of the Canterlot mines. Together with her team she has to find the thing and bring it back to the surface. That is only the easy part. For usually it are the smaller things that give the bigger trouble.

When a book is also taken from the resting place of the gem, Rarity finds herself changed. Not for the better to say the least. New possibilities as well as horrors have opened themselves for the mare of fashion as she is seen as a monster in her own eyes. The job for the princesses might have been the final job she had ever taken as a gem-huntress before her life takes a new course. A course in the darker arts of the crystalline magic.

Friends become bitter enemies as the gears of time go on and the events turn only from bad to worse. It is said that there is light at the end of a dark tunnel, but what if you can't see that very light?

What are you up to Tia/lulu:trixieshiftleft:

More and more interesting is what I have to say. I am really enjoying this story and all you have written thus far. The plot has got me hooked and I can't honestly wait to read more of this whenever you update it. You have found a good balance in setting the pacing for this story and the characterisations are on par.

This was worth favouriting and in following yourself. I shall get around eventually to reading your other works and in commenting (I have a lot to read at the momo...) Keep up the interesting works and I look forwards to reading more from you in the future! :pinkiehappy:

So instead of being a seamstress/fashionista, Rarity is a gem hunter?

There are a few grammatical errors, but they don't detract from the story itself. I'm definitely liking this so far.

P.S. Why do those in charge never tell the full story, especially when there are lives on the line?

4480038 All in due time my dear, all in due time.

4480968 I'm glad that you enjoy the tale so far my dear. And take your time with reading this. It's not going to run away or anything the like anytime soon. At least, I don't happen to have it planned really. Though I shall do my utmost best to keep the story interesting.

4500720 Personally I would say a bit of both really. Aye, the errors never really seem to leave me no matter through how many spelling's checkers i throw my work. At least the story is still readable in a near perfect manner, has to count for something right? ...Right? Still, I'm glad that you enjoy the tale so far dear. As for your PS, that's mostly to keep the common rabble in the dark from finding out what's truly happening and thus preventing massive panic. My best guess at least.

Found an error
for all three races. The blue represents the unicorns and their wisdom. The blue is from the skies where the fierce pegasi soar freely. The green is from the ground that the earth ponies live on and execute their strength on.”

I think you mean the red represents the unicorns

4741148 Oops! Glad you noticed and I thank you deeply for it, fixed it as we speak.

“Do you…” Twilight spoke up before Rarity’s mouth opened up.
“I gave up a long time ago.”
“Ah.”

I wonder what they were talking about.

5022326 Sometimes it's left over to the imagination.

5025925 Ok then.:raritywink: I think that Rarity wanted to have children, but gave up on it for some reason. That's just what I think, though.

5025950 It's certainly an unexpected and interesting thought about it, if I may be so free to say.

That last line was incredibly ominous, and left me wanting more.

Cryyystaaaaaaalllllsss~

Your writing style is weird, Rarity is Dr. Octopus now and this

“Help me Twilight(Obi Wan Kenobi), you are my only hope now,”

felt like Star Wars quote.
I like your writing it's just weird to me.

What the guy below me said. Rarity is now Dr. Octopus.

I would not be surprised if each claw/arm was independent from Rarity's mind

Strong beginning, some parts after the princesses up to before the discovery of certain elements in the cave were a slow burns (not all that attention grabbing), but the rest of that first act from there on was just pretty solid and it remained to keep me at attention from then on without fail.

A bit short, but you've certainly crafted a great AU here.

Solid story. Anyone who sticks with this will be rewarded with some great moments.

5147909 Oh hey King Sombra *waves silly before realizing it* Oh, hell. kthxbye!

5148178 Hmhmhmh, I'm a strange person and love to do those little things that are 'slight' (read: sometimes massive) nudges to other things. I won't lie, Doc Ock formed a major inspiration source for the story.

5148195 Then you do not know my writing and might be in for a little surprise or two :pinkiecrazy:

5148203 Those are some words that I loved to read through actually. I thank you kindly for your opinion on the story and yes, I hope that those who stick with it until the end shall be rewarded with great moments. I think there are great moments, but does the reader share that opinion? The shortness is easily explained, this was an unnamed challenge for me and what can I say? I just love writing in an AU to give it my own twists and turns.

The whole idea is pretty nice, but the grammar is in dire need of a review...

Rarity went insane yay. Did she take the book with her?

5180665 As per usual in my stories actually. >-> Not sure if she took the book with her, been a long time since I looked at the tale.

>>Rarity Belle Why does the cover art show a anthro Rarity, but the story does not have anthro characters?

5284920 Because the coverart come the closest to what I found fitting to the story, without asking for a commission. You might see an anthro Rarity at first glance, certainly. But I like to look at it a bit deeper and see a pony in bipedal pose. Far sought, I know. But at least it's a little more helpful.

>>Rarity Belle I still only see a anthro Rarity not Rarity standing on her hind legs.

5285010 That's what you see. We all see different things within a single picture which gives it a different meaning to all of us. I'm not going to argue which happens to be the truth. You're right with your words but i also happen to be right with mine. The knife slices on two sides, and we both see a different side of said slice.

>>Rarity Belle All I can say is that I wouldn't be surprised if you had the talent to become a actually author who's stories were in real books not just fim fiction.

5285036 Plans are in the make for that, plans are in the make for that. That's all I can say at this point in time.

just looking at this image makes me think of living crystal creatures aggressively defending the underbelly of canterlot....

o my ahh! I wonder/hope if there gonna be a sequel?

5292540 You'll be surprised what roams the mines of Canterlot. Just what do you think happens to be a reason why they are abandoned?

5292946 Time will tell, maybe there's going to be, maybe not. I don't have plans for it as of speaking though.

5293421 Do it when you have the time, and leave any feedback that you like.

... sounds like you found something in the restricted section of the library...

(slightly changed harry potter reference in this chapter?)

The cord that was attached to the mouthpiece seemed to be growing longer and tangle itself around the poor soul. What happened next was something none of them wanted to see before the silence in the sack returned

Rarity Belle Did the pony die or what?

A tale about an engineer who had to stop an invasion of horrible deformed zombie ponies. A tale that managed to shudder her and the cause of the infestation was looking her straight in the eye. The shape of the thing called a marker wouldn't be forgotten that easily by her.

>>Rarity Belle Does this mean that the timeline this is in is that Equestria is in the same state of technology as Humans when Dead Space first came out or is it just a book in this dimension?

5299831 I think you can figure out whether or not the pony died. That, or just belief what is most settling to you.

As for your other question, I would say that you have to use your imagination (given the severe lack of technology within the story), but I'm going to just say it. It's a book, a tale, a horror story told by teenaged mares and stallions to scare the living daylight out of one another.

I just realized this fic is an epic telling of classical 5 Act tragedy. Meaning: Rarity dies in the next act and we (the readers) will have learned not to mess with unknown spells.

5310799 Heh, now that you say it, you do have a sharp point there actually. Might need to start working on Act 5 quickly then. (as in, Valve-time)

Someone should have learned a muffling spell.

I would have already learned all of the armor spells by now, changelings be creeping.

Must get sleep! Must read next chapter!

rarity is Wolverine MLP

Wait, she's dead? Well shat.

5182462 it doesn't matter as long as that detail doesn't change the story much.

Well s***! That got dark fast.

I liked it while it lasted though I'm a bit disappointed with the short ending.

5374226 We can do something about that actually.

>>Rarity Belle So you have future plans for this then? And lastly "we" are you referring to a editor? :derpyderp1:

5378513 Plans are always constantly in the make and with the open ending I happened to give for it, anything is possible actually. Who knows. Though I'm afraid that 'we' in this case just happens to refer to both me and my insane mind.

Ok. And for the record I don't think having a passin for riddlrs declares you as insane.

5378631 Speaking in riddles doesn't make me insane, everything else I do however, kinda does.
