Bolo Combat Unit GNY has been defeated in its primary task and now plummets to a certain destruction. What thoughts go through the metallic mind of a Combat Unit of the Dinochrome Brigade in its last few minutes, a weapon of war now resigned to its ultimate fate?

Done as a challenge from a friend, to write something that covers a subject not directly covered before in FIMfiction. Created during National Pony Writing Week in August 2012, not posted until now because I’m lazy. For more stories in Keith Laumer’s Bolo series, check out the Baen Books Library or the exceptional author William H. Keith (He writes much better than I ever could)

War has come to Equestria.  The defenders have risen- and been beaten.  The Elements are in disarray, the Royal Guard needs to regroup.  The Princesses have been unable to stop the enemy- and Discord becomes the first major casualty.  After a valiant fight, just before his death, he launches the last of his power not at the enemy, nor to his friends, but into the multiverse.  This spell has one mission:  Find hope, and bring it back.  Little does he know that the barrier his spell brought back in his last few seconds is much more than just a sturdy mountain of metal.

This is an action story, and as such, isn't very long- I apologize for that. If you're looking for something with more nuanced behaviors and less annihilation, try one of my other stories. I've got a lot of 'em.

While practicing transformation spells, Twilight accidentally hits Spike, temporarily trapping him in a colt's body. While Twilight tries finding the solution to turn Spike back, he has to learn about his new body, and a new bit of information from Applebloom that might change his life for years to come.

(Note: This is a story I wrote quite some time ago, and was originally published in full on DA a little over a year ago. Also, as a heads up, I know the first three chapters aren't exactly very high quality, they were written and published on DA before my editor became a brony and I was more comfortable sending him my stuff. The chapters after that though (4 and onward) are in better quality, I can promise that. Also, this is set around mid-season 2, to kinda understand why certain factors were left out.)

Sequel to Solar Sails: Marooned In Equestria.

Sarin Miles - Modified Soldier and alien - has just become a permanent addition to Equestria. Abandoned by her species in a world of ponies, she needs to adapt to living in the capitol, Canterlot. And she has no idea where to proceed. Such is her new mission: to figure out what her mission is.

Elsewhere in Canterlot, Whole Heart, the flawed Crystal Pony, seeks a place in a country she's just arrived in. How will these expatriate outcasts cross paths, here in the beating heart of Equestria?

Warning: Readers should probably read Marooned In Equestria to understand the characters and the wider universe the series exists in. Additionally, this story necessarily contains spoilers for Marooned. Reader discretion advised.

Sergeant Sarin Miles - Modified Soldier G7-H3 - serves her Empire loyally. The Fatae Empire spans hundreds of worlds, carried on ships propelled by sunlight through the ocean of Ether that is Space.
But in the middle of a scouting mission to a strange, previously undiscovered planet, her boat crashes. Now she's stranded alone on a bizarre world, where magic is stronger, the beasts tougher, and the residents almost too friendly to be believed. Can the super soldier survive on Equestria? Will her superiors mount an extraction? Or has Sarin Miles been marooned on the planet of ponies?

It's a story of duty, adventure, wonder, and tested loyalties.

Cover art shamelessly ripped from Disney's Treasure Planet.

This story is a sequel to Changeling Space Program

Twilight Sparkle's experimental interplanetary drive has malfunctioned, stranding Starlight Glimmer, Spitfire, Cherry Berry, a changeling and a dragon on a hostile planet in another universe. With limited food supplies, very little magic, no communications with home, and no way to leave the planet, they must survive until somepony rescues them.

Fortunately they crashed right next door to another creature with the exact same problem- a creature named Mark Watney.

They're going to science the buck out of everything- and do whatever it takes to survive Mars and get everybody home.

Twenty thousand years into Twilight Sparkle's rule, the burden of the countless trillions of ponies killed Equestria. Depleted, polluted, and dead, the planet was abandoned. The Goddess Twilight Sparkle and her alicorn compatriots led the surviving ponies to a new life among the stars.

Ponies advanced. They evolved, and grew. A golden age of peace and prosperity occurred that lasted for thousands of millennia.

But that was long ago. Before evolution turned against them, and before the deadly Mortality Virus raged through their ranks. Now, at the twilight of ponykind, their final hope is for a small crew to return to their long-dead and long-forgotten homeworld one last time.

(The continuation of this story-verse is Star Trek: Pegasus.)

This is a direct sequel to my previous fic The Quandary of DisQord and is, of course, another Star Trek: The Next Generation / Friendship is Magic crossover. This time, however, Q has decided to bring the crew of the Enterprise-D along for the ride as well.

This is a much lighter story than Quandary was (since Quandary was the story of Discord's reign prior to his first defeat, it was bound to be a bit on the dark side). Also, be warned, though I tried to keep them to a minimum, there are still a few references to and spoilers for Quandary in this fic here, so I'd obviously recommend reading that one first before reading this one. Though, at the same time, this one is hopefully self-contained enough that you wouldn't necessarily have to read Quandary first in order to understand anything, if you don't care to.

Also beware, there is a bit of very mild one-sided shipping between one of the ponies and one of the humans, but nothing super serious or squicky or anything like that. And the Discord/Celestia ship from Quandary is touched upon again, of course. Just thought I'd mention it here, in case someone might be turned off by that sort of thing.

As with Quandary, extensive (and spoiler-filled) Author's Notes can be found after the end of the final chapter.

Chapters (15)

Every schoolfilly has heard of the Federation - the tall, mysterious, magicless beings from another world, who visit only rarely and briefly; waiting, they say, for 'stable planetary political unity'.

This is the story of when they first visited Equestria; of early contact between the Princesses and the Federation. It is also the tale of how Princess Luna, with some help from the House of Sparkle, managed the first fully Equestrian warp jump; and of how Spike became the first dragon in space.

--------------

Additional note: There is an alternate ending for this story, which can be found over here. It follows on directly after the chapter titled Further Communications (and there is a note in the author's notes for that chapter to that effect, with another link).

The reasons for the split are contained in the comments to this story. (Note: Said reasons contain spoilers)

Chapters (37)
T

Two thousand years after the return of Princess Luna, Equestria's technology and magic has advanced far enough that the once far off dream of faster than light travel is now a reality.

And that reality is the ES Harmony, the pride of its designer, Princess Twilight Sparkle, and Equestria's first FTL capable starship. It is due to make its maiden voyage to travel further than anypony before it.

And yet when they receive a distress call from origins unknown, this ship's maiden voyage will become one the crew will never forget.
