MISSION LOG – SOL 271

Contrary to popular belief and mathematics, the Cubs have not been eliminated from the playoffs. We only need 27 teams to be swallowed up in freak earthquakes, and we’re in.

Based on my experiences on Mars, this is a thing that totally could happen.

In other news, we are coping with our limited EVA time without any sign of resuming cabin fever. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go talk with Fireball about that annoying habit he has of making crunching sounds when he eats his rocks.

Author's Note:

I've threatened this before, but the day has come; no buffer, not enough time to write. So here's the "I wonder what the Cubs are doing" moment.

Tomorrow I will be home, with nothing urgent ahead of me, and I will be able to do something a little better. And after that, I might actually build a buffer again.

Is it the precise gem itself that Fireball gets jhis main food from, or is it the atomic compounds? Diamond being pure carbon, Quartz being pure Silicon Dioxide, which is a very close cousin of all the Silicone elastomers and oils used in space, and sapphires, rubies and others are slightly contaminated Aluminium Oxides, suhc as with Chromium, Cobalt, Beryllium etc so he should be able to eat various insulation material like cotton candy or popcorn?

FYI, arrived home at 2:30 AM, after having woken up at 7 AM. Needed a half-hour nap to get home anything like safely.

That is why this was a two-digit-wordcount chapter.

I have to admit I fully expected life to bring this sort of chapter along a lot sooner, my hat off to your dedication and hard work that has kept you going so long. Though I half expected given the recent chapters, the filler as it were would be Mark lamenting on the death of all of his guests, only to reveal it was a party wipe in their D&D game not the real death of his visitors.

I keep figuring Starlight’s next plan for Dragonfly will be similar to a Doctor Frankenstein plan where wires the batteries to send their full load down a conductor right into the cocoon like a bolt of lightning. Mark can have fun saying “it’s alive”. Either that or find a way to compress the field to just around the cocoon creating a really dense magic field for her to absorb.

I can’t help but wonder if Dragonfly will be able to repurpose her cocoon into gunk for the suits, to save on her having to use up more food. Of course there will also be the problem of if she emerges as a queen her not fitting into her old suit, using magic to switch to her own form to do so seems like a bad idea.
