Personal opinion: I've always preferred subtitles for my anime, mostly because it takes forever to get a localization and that might not be all that good.

No, not because I think your story is bad on subject alone, but because I'm a huge fan of HS DxD and it's comedy... I really can't see it being compatible with MLP:FiM.
I think this, and then immediately remember that we've had story after story of clopfics or of OOC Celestia committing genocide against humans or some other crap like that on this site.

Honestly you really don't need to be religious to read this story, as it pretty much spits on everything that modern Abraham-based religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism) believe in, and then in the light novel it also talks and goes to other religions/deity creatures, both modern and ancient. Greek Gods, Norse Gods, Japanese Spirits, Hinduism, even some deity-like figures from Zoroastrianism. It's also given me probably one of the best anti-religious quotes out there (that I've heard at least).

It is based on the anime, i.e. only the first four volumes of the light novel. Which is a shame, I agree, because I have read the light novels up to volume 15 and I'd love to put that in.
But the reason I've decided to go with the anime status quo is because I think more of my readers will be familiar with that. I can't ask everyone to read those 15 volumes just to get what I'm talking about and I can't recap it all here or I'd never get around to the actual story.
Anywho, this isn't a clopfic and Celestia isn't gonna invade Earth. So maybe that alleviates some of your fears. All I ask is that you give it a chance and maybe I will surprise you.

Let me tell you a secret: I'm not religious either. That's why I like this franchise in the first place. The different sides are recast as political powers rather than religious ones and as a result they are, to use an inappropriate word, very human.

When Luna finds out, her "Warrior's pride" prevents her from withdrawing completely without reason. So instead, she makes a side wager with Celestia.
If Luna wins, she'll run the Day and Night Court for the specified time frame while Celestia joins Sirzechs in serving tea...in a maid outfit.
If Luna loses, Twilight will run the courts while Luna joins Celestia in serving Sirzechs.
Either way, as punishment for making the wager AND going over Luna's head, Celestia ends up in a maid outfit after the fact. Yay.

I do actually plan to mention Tannin, but he won't show up in person. But Spike will interact with Ddraig, who already knows Tannin.
I don't wanna include Volume 5, because it's the middle of an arc. From the DxD continuity standpoint it wouldn't make sense for them to come to Ponyville at this time. Plus I don't wanna spoil it for those who haven't read the light novels.

I thought the subbed version by SubDESU was fine and very watchable. But that's because I usually watch anime with subtitles, even if I have a dub available.

I'm curious as to what Discord's role will be in this. My hypothesis is that he will be the referee.
Discord could have fun with Issei at the mane 6's expense by turning the mane 6 into humans (or anthros) with generous proportions (it is anime after all).

Thanks, glad to hear it. Writing a story with a cast of 21 chracters can be a little daunting and at points it feels like I've bitten off a little more than I can chew.
During the training arc I'll have them in more manageable groups, so hopefully I can get some more character interactions going. In my opinion that's what both these franchises excel at, after all.
