Octavia was always one for competition. Unless, that is, the competition is forced upon her by the mare of her nightmares. And it's not that she's ever had a problem with Canterlot nightlife; she just has a problem with ponies named Vinyl Scratch. Not that anypony knows why, though, and Octavia isn't about to share embarrassing secrets.

Four years ago Vinyl and Octavia broke up. It was messy, painful and left scars on both of them. Four years on, now one of the most successful DJs in Equestria’s history, Vinyl receives news that Octavia has been in a terrible accident. The doctors say she may never recover from her coma, but Vinyl refuses to believe them. There are all sorts of stories about coma patients who are brought back by the voice of someone they care about, right? No matter what anypony else says, offers or threatens, and no matter what it costs her personally or professionally, she is determined to stay by Octavia’s side and do all she can to wake her.

But four years is a long time, and no matter how many fairytales end with the princess waking up, real life owes no-one a happy ending.

This story is a sequel to Regret

From the author of 'I Am Octavia' and 'Regret', I bring you the threequel in the next series, I Fall in Fall. (As usual, you don't have to read the others to read this one, although you may understand more in-depth.)

A change of events, a change in lifestyle. As life progresses for Vinyl and Octavia, one learns the simplicity of life, and one has to treasure what she already has. Among these stepping stones to life, a teal mare pays more than just a visit, and a paparazzi goes all out to wreck their relationship.

The question is, why? And how does one cope when they can't get problems to go away?

The answer is music. Music is the key to everything.

Vinyl Scratch is a DJ by the alias DJ-PoN3. Octavia is a world-class cellist. What do they have in common? I have no idea. Why do they meet? Not a clue. Why don't we find out?

When Spitfire finds herself grounded on the team injured list just before a show in Manehatten, she prepares for her life to crumble around her. The experience leads her to come across Rainbow Dash, temporarily managing the Manehatten weather teams. The two fliers will discover that sometimes it takes the darkest moments of our lives to find the brightest ones.
