I've spent the majority of my life tilling the desolate land in which I live. Every day, I wake up to move useless rocks from one location to another. This is an archaic line of work that my family has clung to for generations. It is a dull, grey existence.

Today, I have woken up in a strange room, lying in a bed that isn't mine. I'm surrounded by five mares whom I've never seen in my life. They claim to be my friends, and expect me to bring joy to the hearts of everypony.

Joy? I don't think I've ever experienced this for myself, so how am I supposed to thrust it upon others?

My name is Pinkamena Diane Pie, and I'm not sure what to make of this situation.

A brony gets his lifelong dream: He's in Equestria. Exited, he sets off, only to find something is... amiss. Something is different about the mane six. Undeterred, he tries to makes the best of the situation he's now trapped in, but what will he do about the six mare he knows nothing about? And more importantly, how will the mane six react to hearing about who they could have been?

Here's my idea for a spin on the usual HiE fic. Any criticism or advice helps.

Synopsis:

As a descendant of the greatest conjurer of the pre-classical era, Star Swirl wishes to live up to her namesake's reputation and their shared cutie mark. But how can she emulate a powerful unicorn when she is an earth pony? Taking the advice of her psychologist, she heads off to Ponyville to try and find out.
