To do this, she must prove to her friends - and to herself - that she is still worthy to wield the Element of Magic. But with her own mind threatening to swallow her whole at every turn, her task will be far from easy. If she is to succeed, Twilight must face her fears and come to terms with what she allowed herself to become, or fall prey to the shadow whispering in her ear...

Thankfully, she does not have to carry this burden alone.

This is the fifth story in the Little Flashes series. Reading through the previous stories is intensely encouraged to understand the events of this story.

With all the beings that exist in Equestria, from Discord to Alicorns that control the sun and moon, Minotaurs, Griffons, even Ursa's, is it so hard to believe in more outlandish creatures? Monsters an ordinary pony would call "supernatural" are not so odd when compared to the things dwelling in the Everfree Forest.

For Rainbow Dash, these creatures are about to become all to real in her world as she is forced into the darkness by a seemingly crazy pony. Not all is at it seems, however, and as truths start to come out she learns things about her friend she never could have believed had she not seen it with her own eyes.

When Chrysalis reappears with an army of unturned changelings to challenge Thorax for the throne, the Changeling Civil War begins. Of course, being close allies with Thorax's Kingdom, Equestria enters the war on his side, and the Wonderbolts are called into military service. On a routine scouting mission, Rainbow Dash goes down behind enemy lines and the changelings bring her to a prisoner-of-war camp, already full of captured ponies and turned changelings. Naturally, being a hero of Equestria, a veritable symbol of the nation, leads to her captors taking out a lot of aggression on her. Nonetheless, Rainbow Dash's will to return home to her friends and loyalty to her nation keeps her strong, and, with the help of a sympathetic changeling guard, she plots a daring escape to freedom. All the while, Spitfire is determined to track down and rescue her best flier--and her close friend.

Since this is November, and Veterans/Armistice/Remembrance Day is around the corner, I'd like to give a big thank-you to all those who've served/are serving, especially our dear military bronies. You folks aren't only brave enough to serve your country and put your lives at risk, but also to openly enjoy a show about small, rainbow-colored horses? That takes guts.

In addition, I'd like to warn everypony that while this story doesn't stray too far from the MLP world we all know, it does take place during a war, and in an internment camp. And some of the things that go on inside POW camps are not very pretty. The things that staying in one can do to your mind are even less pretty. Rainbow's gonna see some sht; readers, you've been warned.

A lot of the information I got about prison camps, how they operate, and how to survive and escape one came from the book SAS and Elite Forces Guide: Prisoner of War Escape & Evasion by Chris McNab. It's a very interesting book if you'd like to learn more, and I thank him for writing it.

Just a quick note about tags: "Teen," in addition to the following, encompasses some occasional sex jokes and innuendoes. Will add the appropriate tag if the audience finds it necessary. "Violence" and "death" because it's set during a war and there are depictions or references, though "gore" will only be occasional (because I don't particularly enjoy viscera), and "profanity", well, I don't plan on having too much thrown in, because the characters, to me, don't seem like ones who would curse too much, but certain words (namely "damn") will get used in-text or in-speech as intensifiers.

Heartbroken from her friends and brother abandoning her at the wedding rehearsal, Twilight Sparkle retreats to a strange new world and is later followed by Spike and Rainbow Dash. Once there they encounter new races, strange technology, gain great power and see to the foundation of a new empire. But while there they experience constant warfare from many enemy factions that seek their destruction, turning the innocent ponies and dragon into naught but a memory. So now there is only one question: when they return to Equestria, will they come as peaceful diplomats, or conquerors?

Universe in set in a Halo/Warhmmer 40k/Star Wars mixed galaxy.

Not sure if the action sequences will actually be gorey, but the tag's there just in case.

Somehow our internet has come into contact with net of Equestria and while hanging out Rainbow and Pinkie discover a certain fic. Are they gonna take it?

The short answer: No.

The long answer involves breaching the fourth wall and getting some much needed pay back. The story doesn't end at Cupcakes as the rest of the folks in Equestria discover their own personal and disturbing fics and pics. Twilight will go psycho and you can't escape a Big Mac attack in the later chapters.

This well be open to suggestion and if you think a fic should be included just mention a short plot summary and the character involved so I don't actually have to read the disgusting fic.

This story takes place before the finale of season 3, so any continuity errors should be chocked up as being part of an alternate universe.

This story idea was originally from Sisterly Bonds Run Deep written by: Night--Mist but since he never finished it, I felt it was time to re-write the story with some alteration's on my part.

Rainbow has a lot of things going for her. And she should. She has friends, family, she's one of the Elements of Harmony, and she has her best friend Fluttershy. But what would happen.......if they all didn't want to be around her anymore? Even Fluttershy?

*P.S. Twilight is not a princess in this, even though it is after season seven. Just thought I'd put that in there.*
