Sometimes, that just wasn't true.

I'd do just about anything to help my faithful assistant and dearest friend with his problems, but this time I may be out of my depth. Something's wrong with Spike... very wrong, and I'm not sure I can fix it on my own. I don't know what's going on, but I'm worried about him. Some of the things he's been saying lately... they scare me.

I'm afraid for him... and I think I might be afraid of him.

Good parents want what's best for their children. It can be very difficult, however, when things don't go as planned.

Ponyville is no stranger to people dropping in unannounced, but even the Elements of Harmony probably weren't ready for a four fingered yellow biped to literally fall out of the sky. His name is Homer J Simpson, and his chance arrival will forever alter the course of Equestrian History in ways beyond their imagination...or maybe not.

It's also just as likely he's going to drive somebody (er, somepony) up the wall as he struggles to adapt to a society where clothing is optional, television is nonexistent, and the closest thing to alcohol is apple cider. Cadance believed that was true when she was married. A princess and her knight in shining armor, just like in the fairytales. Their true love had defeated the evil Queen Chrysalis just like in the fairytales. In short, Cadance felt like she was well on her way to her own happily ever after.

However, as an alicorn she is immortal. One day she will be forced to outlive her beloved stallion, and her happily ever after will die. What will she be then? The Princess of Love without her beloved?

No, that cannot happen.

But there is a pony who has cheated death a number of times: King Sombra.

With his help, Shining Armor too can become immortal, and they can both live happily ever after, together forever.

Right...?

This is not a shipping story. There are romantic themes, but it is not the focus of this story.

After the Storm King's invasion of Canterlot, Twilight realizes just how scarce Discord seems to become during any kind of crisis. He would have been a huge help in repelling Tempest and her armada, after all! Seeking answers, Twilight decided it was about time Discord explained himself.

This is Discord, so she should have known it wasn't going to be that simple.

Chancellor Neighsay returns from his humiliating encounter with Celestia and Twilight in front of the School of Friendship and thinks things over a bit.

He also hopes that his acting in front of them wasn't too on the nose.

It was vexing. Discord could do anything he wanted with his absolute limitless power, literally anything. How he could achieve all that with a snap of his talons had been beyond Twilight's vast comprehension.

That is, until he explained the secret, the infinite source of his abilities. It had been the single most greatest mistake of her life, to cast open Pandora's Box and see what sights were held within, never to be buried again in blissful ignorance. This was what she had chosen for herself.
