Apple Bloom attended one of Twilight's talks about magical constructs that emulate creature's intelligence. But why limit that to magic, when good ol' Earth Pony ingenuity can do the trick?

Many thanks to Alumx for the cover art!

Wow. Just... wow.

This was the pony AI satire I needed.

inb4 seething techbros

Heh. Got a solid chuckle out of this. Great job!

silly apple bloom, you can't rush science~ any good experiment needs to be tested hundreds of times before being put to practice……

This was super cute, and I'll never pass up an opportunity to poke fun at AI-obsessed tech bros 🙏

Haha! Love it. Just what I needed to read right now!

"Rainbow Dash is doing the best she can!"

"Uh-huh." Cheerilie glanced at the scroll. "It's surprisingly dry, for coming out of your mouth, and what you just did was very disturbing, but I never did understand unicorns."

Oh Cheerilee!!

An inspiring notion you have when writing this. To have 'Sweetie-Bot' to actually print out the Essay is strangely odd for a "pony" to do, but still a bit funny also. Was the Essay on one single piece of parchment/paper? Why would Apple Bloom get an A+ for the Essay that 'Sweetie-Bot' produced? It did not have her name attached to it. Just Sweetie B.'s on it.

Wanderer D

11652803 The joke is that Apple Bloom ended up writing her essay anyway because her experiment was for Sweetie Bot to write one for Sweetie.

Oh, I did not know that at that time I rad your work. lol lol

Give her some military funding, she’s about to make autonomous soldiers.

At the end of the day, I think this is about having fun more than anything. Although I suppose I'd be interested to see what an AI "review" of this would look like.

Sure. I fed your story into ChatGPT and had it write a review:

Sweetie Bot and the 'Founding of Canterlot' Essay" is a delightful and humorous My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fanfiction that explores the consequences of technological misadventures. The story takes us on a whimsical journey as Apple Bloom creates an artificial pony named Sweetie Bot to do her homework. The premise is amusing and captures the essence of the show's playful spirit.

The characterization of the main trio, Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo, is well-executed, staying true to their personalities as portrayed in the show. The banter and interactions between the characters are entertaining, making the reader feel like they are watching an episode of the actual series.

The narrative is filled with hilarious moments, especially when Sweetie Bot misunderstands the instructions and unintentionally causes chaos in the classroom. The attempt to complete the essay about the founding of Canterlot is particularly comical, as Sweetie Bot's logic and responses leave the teacher and classmates baffled.

The story also cleverly brings out the values of hard work and integrity as Apple Bloom eventually realizes the folly of trying to take shortcuts through technology. It reinforces the show's central theme of friendship, growth, and learning from mistakes.

However, some parts of the fanfiction could benefit from more streamlined writing and smoother transitions between scenes. Additionally, while the interactions among the characters are enjoyable, more detailed descriptions of the settings and emotions could further immerse the reader into the story.

In conclusion, "Sweetie Bot and the 'Founding of Canterlot' Essay" is an entertaining fanfiction that successfully captures the charm of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. With its amusing storyline, well-developed characters, and clever humor, it is a delightful read for fans of the series. Although some aspects could be improved, the overall enjoyment and lightheartedness make this fanfiction a worthwhile addition to the fandom.

Is it me or is it weird that the AI has the opinion that this story needs more description? Why? Huh?

"Acknowledged. Seeking power supply port."
"No, no, I mean attack, dumb rust-buckets!"
"Target not available."
"What? They're right there!"
"Sensors do not detect any presence of rusty buckets, vocal or otherwise, in the indicated direction."
"Celestia's flaming tits, I will destroy the pony who designed these things..."

11652922 You know, so many movie reviews read exactly like this... I think movie critics have been using AI to write their trash reviews for decades! :pinkiegasp:

11652721 Especially nerve gas! Need LOTS of experiments... :pinkiecrazy:

Reading that review took 'AI is an incompetent joke' to 'AI is going to run the world' in ten seconds flat.
edit: Thanks for providing that! :pinkiehappy:

Wanderer D

11652922 lol, thanks for that. It's about as much as I expected... I've literally seen those exact compliments come up with other reviews for other stories, with only character names swapped. I'm not sure that as 11653165 claims it changes it to "will rule the world" with canned responses, but it is certainly amusing.

Edit: Regarding the descriptions, I think it's because it doesn't understand what fanfiction actually is, and that the characters and locations aren't necessarily required for this kind of short nonsense. Since it would compare it to what it has registered as a good "situational description" or something, it would find it lacking. Other than that, I don't know if it's a review or a list of compliments? There's plenty of things I know can be better in the story (aside from descriptions) so it would have been interesting to see those pointed out.

11652904 I worry that if they did, 11652924 's scenario would come true.

"I mean, you look pretty similar," Sccootaloo said, then turned to look at Apple Bloom.

Apple Bloom smirked, then turned to face both Sweeties. "Sweetie, define 'analogous'."

"Analogous, adjective" Sweetie immediately responded. "similar or comparable to something else either in general or in some specific detail."

"It's not the only thing she can do," Apple Bloom said proudly. "Ah can make her say anythin' Ah want with Sweeite's voice." She cleared her throat. "Sweetie Bot, repeat after me: Ah am the very model of a model major general."

Yes, yes I am a major general. And It is, it is a glorious thing to be a major general!
I am the very model of a modern major general!
I've information vegetable, animal, and mineral.
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical.
From Marathon to Waterloo in order categorical.
I'm very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical.
I understand equations both simple and quadratical!
About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot'o news.
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse!
I'm very good at integral and differential calculus.
I know the scientific names of beings animalculous.
In short, of matters vegetable, animal, and mineral I am the very model of a modern major general!

I mean like... have you seen the canned responses politicians use on the campaign trail?
That's all it takes to get elected; you'll rue the day you opposed AI, mark my words!
I, for one, welcome our new overlords!

Wanderer D

11653192 Lol, so the Major General thing was more a jab at myself (and Apple Bloom), since whenever I dictate to my phone in the voice-to-text option, my accent makes it write down the weirdest things sometimes.

Delightful. I do have to appreciate Snips being entirely in favor of this revolution in content generation... by which I mean it's definitely making somepony turn over in their grave. :derpytongue2: Thank you for a most enjoyable farce.

Cheerilee blinked. "What? What chicken?" she glanced at Scootaloo.

"Not me!" the pegasus groaned.

I love how this joke is still a thing, even after all these years. :rainbowlaugh:

Snips kissed the top of his hoof. "Genius. Pure genius. This is the future of writing."

It's a shame that Equestria doesn't have television networks, because Snips becoming a network executive makes too much sense. He probably would've gotten his cutie mark for cutting the wit and heart out of a script.

When people say that AI is going to take over the world, they don't usually mean for it do so via the normal election process. The age requirement of the presidency makes it unlikely, but then again having 35 years to cook will probably help a lot. More firmly defining "natural-born" may also be involved if they're really desperate to prevent it, I suppose.

Everything is as expected.

God, this was brilliant! Excellent work, Wanderer!

This sure was entertaining enough, you have my W00t.. :yay:
