MythrilMoth

LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

E

Daring Do is the most daring, most dazzling, most butt-kicking adventurer in all Equestria.

Rainbow Dash is her biggest fan.

But A. K. Yearling, despite being Daring Do, is also a writer, and writers sometimes have to embellish to tell a compelling story.

Rainbow Dash is about to learn something that could test her love of her favorite action hero.

Huh. Not bad, but a bit shallow. Still enjoyable, though. And at least Daring didn't take the credit for Griffonstone herself.

Enjoyable story. Pretty short, gets its point across nicely, was decently entertaining. Not your greatest work, but still good.

I've heard of Read it and Weep. Don't know much about it beyond immediately (and possibly incorrectly) assuming it wasn't worth watching. It's a Disney movie, right? Was it any good?

6386313 ...it's an episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The one where Daring Do was first mentioned and her books introduced.

6386267

Hey, she embellishes, but she doesn't lie... or at least steal credit. :rainbowwild:

6386313
Umm, the author was almost certainly referring to the episode where Dash injured her wing and first read Daring Do. I didn't even know there was a movie until I googled it a minute ago.

6386325 *facepalm*

Somehow managed to confuse with this thing.

So... what happens when Scootaloo eventually gets her hooves on a copy of that? The fangirling shall be legendary!

Short. But I found it pretty cool that Rainbow Dash's personal idol wrote Rainbow Dash into her very own adventure story.

6386422

I don't think the insurance companies can cover the explosion caused by her fangasm. I mean Pinkie exploding twice, that's expected. Scootaloo's squeal of fangirl glee shattering all of Equestria's windows, followed by the fangasmic explosion from seeing her honorary sister / hero / extra-awesome-super-amazing pony of all Equestria in her own book. Legendary.

6386481 Didn't she do that back in Daring Don't? I feel like she did that back in Daring Don't.

6386961 She wrote Rainbow Dash into a Daring Do book. Here, she wrote a Rainbow Dash book. Kinda different.

6386961

Nope, she was a supporting character. A side kick, which is almost as awesome as being he main character / hero, but not quite. Like the difference between being Kelsey Grammar, and being David Hyde Pierce.

6387030 Sorry, I misunderstood.

Aw that ending is adorable.

Oh that ending is PURE GOLD.

And her books need embellishment--they're adventure novels! Non-Twilight readers don't want to hear about all the research and time spent sifting through information in libraries it takes to figure out one of these myths actually exists, much less where to find it.

I wonder if Twilight would have been as alright with hearing about the embellishment? She sort of worships books, and the idea of an author of what she now knows to be an autobiographical series lying in her books...
But, she's also really nice, understands how the writing process works, and actually knows enough about archeology to guess that there's some stuff left out.

6387592 It's not so much what's left OUT as what's put IN.

Dat ending tho!!

Considering Daring Do publishes her books as fiction in the first place, rather than autobiography, I'd expect her to take some creative liberties.

6387702 I figured that if she understood that some parts needed to be toned down, it isn't a stretch for others to be embellished.

6388773 Pretty much. The problem lies in when ponies discover Daring Do is a real pony. Then things get...muddy.

Nice quick story :pinkiehappy:

...but that ending!! Wow. Rd must be very flattered.

That ending as perfection :rainbowkiss: that's so nice of Daring, she's so cool.

Awesomely done done, awesomely done.

I need to find out what happened! Did Daring find the Lost Treasure of Griffinstone?

CCC

I really liked that ending. I wonder how much it was embellished?

Short and sweet. And a look at the realities of being an adventure who has to sell off their adventures as fiction.

I STRONGLY suggest you read this story! It shows what happens when Yearling embellishments catch up with her.

https://www.fimfiction.net/story/225030/the-two-sides-of-daring-do I STRONGLY recommend it!!

6394285 Seriously? Plugging a story you commissioned from another author in the comments section of someone else's story? :ajbemused:

It does look interesting enough to stick in my read later list. But still.

6394380

-_- Because it's a similar concept. You made me think of it. Nothing more, nothing less.

6394392 It just...kinda looks self-promotiony, is all... :twilightsheepish:

That was a good short read. Worked within the show's continuity pretty well and it was nice seeing Daring and Rainbow talk with one another.

Aaw. That was nice of her :yay:

Did you happen to read Runaway Queen by Bioquill? I was just wondering because that was the first story Iread where the griffons make Gilda their new queen. I thought the idea was so awesome, I made it a part of my headcannon (with some adjustments to make it more aesthetically pleasing).

6417073 Sorry, never heard of it. But the notion of Gilda as the new Griffon Queen is kind of an obvious one based on the episode.

i'd like another chapter just like bacecly dash coming to grips with it asking about the new book and some more stuff like that
and some twilight and the book

Sadly, a bit shallow...but still a fun idea. I confess, despite faving it, I downvoted it. It's one of those stories that doesn't expand beyond the premises. Still a good popcorn story. (Nice ending).

6975894 Thank you for faving and, umm...downvoting. It was nice of you to tell me that, I guess.

This was really short and sweet. I love the ending, It made me all heart melty happy.

6975894 Still a good popcorn story and you fav'd it but you downvoted? Wha? What a dumb reason. Talk about a backhoofed compliment.

this reminded me of a silly scene in the story "changeling of the guard": the aforementioned changeling gets through a booby-trapped temple easily,.. (walking on the wall, eating the snakes, arrows bounce off his hide)
what happens at the end of the chapter is too complicated to explain...
