This story is a sequel to My History, Rise, Fall and Return: Starlight's Story

Equestria has recently split into two nations, West Equestria and East Equestria. Unfortunately for West Equestria, most of the wealth and The Tree of Harmony lies in East Equestria. Deteriorating economic conditions leads to public unrest and two princesses abdicate, leaving one to rule the land. Is her magic strong enough to keep the country afloat or will it revert to an earlier state?

Parts of this story will be told by the character that the chapter focuses on.

Just reading the description, this sounds A LOT like the situation of the late Roman Empire

6672887 That is exactly what I modeled this after, the late Roman Empire.

6673742 awesome. Add this to stories for me to read

Lots of OoC behavior (such as Sunset ever putting up with what Starlight did to Twilight), ridiculous and unbelievable events (such as Starlight suddenly having a loyal country; ceding land to someone is going to make that land's inhabitants hate them more, not love them), incorrect lore for little reason (the sun and moon didn't revolve normally before Celestia and Luna, for example) and Starlight feels very Mary Sue-ish. I apologize, but I'm going to have to give a downvote.

6674621 This was the sequel to My History, Rise, Fall and Return: Starlight's Story so I wouldn't count on a sequel. Given that Luna and Celestia now rule over different countries and Twilight has been turned returned to being a regular unicorn and banished to the Everfree Forest, I don't think there is much more I could do with this. If you wish to write something that goes off of this ending and right any wrongs you feel happened, feel free to.

6674683 Well I have an idea for a sequel that you might like to write if you wan to hear it.

So Eastern Equestria is Byzantium, and Western Equestria is the decaying western empire with the capital at Ravenna? Neat, kind of like the divide I did with North Equestria (collapsed, became Ponyland), and southern equestria (New Equestria, still has the old culture) anyway, really awesome story! :ajsmug:

7404712 Thanks. I did model it directly after the late Roman Empire yet unlike Justinian's failure to restore the whole continent in 542, Starlight succeeded.

I have an odd concept of how the pony world is, well in my "ponyverse." Equestria is like North America, the US and Canada while The Equine Empire consists of what Western Europe and the old Soviet Union is combined. Saddle Arabia is pretty much the middle east and North Africa given it's closeness to Maredrid (the Islamic world) and of course Neigh Zealand is located where New Zealand is yet it is supposed to resemble WW II era Japan. Alicorn Island is the size of Japan yet is located more where Guam is.

I do really enjoy your stories. Thanks for providing works that no other author on this site writes.

After reading over this again, I am thinking of writing a sequel involving Yellow Star and Morning Glory. I made it apparent that they did have feelings for one another and Starlight Glimmer may decide to do something very special for them, something that won't harm anypony financially. Also, given that both Yellow Star and Morning Glory are eastern ponies, it won't affect the destiny of those of eastern descent having control of the continent. Now another part of me is contemplating having Fluttershy involved too but I'm not real sure yet.

Okay, this story is way more dumber than the first one. Celestia just leaves the country after she spent an entire year nothing to prepare West Equestria from chaos. *clap *clap.

I hope there will be a sequel after the reunification of Equestria under eastern control.

Damn I never even thought about a sequel to this one. Let me think about it, alright?
