When five foals asked Princess Twilight Sparkle to please try and paint the moon purple during Nightmare Night, she initially refused. It wasn't until they insisted (and Princess Luna quite basically dared her) that she relented. She only relented, however, because she really thought she wouldn't be able to do it.
Too bad she thought wrong.

I really enjoyed this one. The characterizations of Lulu and 'Tia were, dare I say it, quite magical.
Twilights *cough* "minor" panic attack fit her perfectly, too. Pinkie was sufficiently Pinkie enough in my opiniom, and Spike didn't deviate too far either.
All in all, this read almost like a script for an actual episode. I think that's a good thing.

There's enough depth here that I could see something like this as an episode of the show. The little bit about Rarity being Twilight's favorite pony was pretty cute as well.

But yes, I was honestly a little bit worried about posting this because it's so out of my comfort zone, but I think it's important I do these kind of stories once in a while? I really wanted to try and see how I'd manage in unfamiliar territory, so I got rid of my two safe things which where shipping and Rarity. I'm glad I managed to pull it off.
