Einhander

Just an old school hybrid spaceship/pony writing some stories.

Lyra has talked Bon Bon into hosting a baking class.

Twilight, Spike and Pinkie Pie are the students.

Uh oh.

Takes place in that magic zone where everything's happened right up until Alicorn Twilight.

Note: This is a comedy, but there are some sharp edges hiding in there. A friendship lesson is learned that probably couldn't be done on the show. Think of it as whipped cream with knives. Be warned.

Additional note: Fimfic won't let me click the 'sad' tag. This is more comedy than drama, but is definitely a dramedy. Sorry if anyone felt misled.

Awesome, a fun ride if a bit strange.

I thought it was really nice. I got hit in the feels by Bon Bon. It could use some cleaning up but was otherwise a fun read. Don't understand the downvotes.

Why would ponies make gemstone sweets if only dragons would be able to safely eat them?:applejackunsure:

I guess it's not 100 % clear in the story but the Idea is that it's so finely blended they can eat it.

2958961 Flimsy, but I will accept.

(THY TALE OF–)
(*sigh* Luna...)
(Yes, we know, "indoor voice." Thy tale of heartwarming confectionary mayhem hath amused Us, scribe!)

2969429 thanks! That warms the pixelated circuits of my cold metallic heart.

There are some stories that make it to the feature box, and I can't, for the life of me, figure out how they managed it.

There are other stories where It's the opposite. Bravo on another excellent story. :pinkiehappy:

Nice!
This was fun and quite touching at times, with good characterization. I think we've all known someone like Bon Bon, and unfortunately not all of them are so lucky as to find their Lyra.

And... do I detect just a tiny smidgen of a hint of suggested TwiPie there? :twilightsheepish:

2973391 That means a lot to me. Thank you.

2973399 I've got plans. Oh yes, I've got plans.

Seriously this was originally going to be a twipie story but that idea got too big for a one shot, so I ended up writing a prequel that focused on Lyra/Bonbon and laid a Twilight/Pinkie framework. Once I finally finish Adorkable ill get to it.

Three word teaser: Pinkie's Komedy Kollege

That was lovely. Faved!

I like what a terror Bon Bon is in the kitchen. Pastries are no trifling matter! And Pinkie is a character I'm not generally warm to, but your handling of her here made me really like her.

Congratulations! Your story has been added to the NaPoWriMo mini event for July 2013.

I hope you make another episode of that, it had it's humor but, it had some moments where I feel bad for the pony. This was amazing and I won't stop reading it, please make more:pinkiehappy:!!

Bon Bon's Chocolate Shoppe? A fan of A Delicat Balance?

Also: Very nice.

Bon Bon's Chocolate Shoppe? A fan of A Delicat Balance?

Yep. Also, for the life of me, I could not find any actual official canon name for it.

Thanks for the fav/compliment!

I kinda like seeing Bon Bon be the 'strange' one in the Lyra/BB relationship. It's an interesting dynamic.

Plus, who wouldn't want to try sapphire cotton candy? :raritywink:

Definitely a fun story! (I would love to see the next cooking class with Rarity added to the mix.)

Einhander, this is arguably my favorite story of yours.

I also really like how you wrote Pinkie. :pinkiehappy:

Spike did as ordered, and put on a pair of sunglasses. “Let’s roll.”

Aaaaaand cue "Bad to the Bone"! :rainbowdetermined2:

We also would have accepted the Blues Brothers theme. :pinkiehappy:

Fantastic story. You gained a follower
But one thing...

I played too many video games as a kid.

BLASPHEMY!!

very nice story. while all the character were portrayed nicely, I particularly liked how well you did Pinkie Pie. kudos.

This was interesting, to say the least. The writing was a bit clunky at the start, but it settled down soon enough. A very interesting tale, and I think one people could benefit from reading.

Ah, what the hell?

Wow...I liked this way more than I thought OI would. It was extremely thought provoking and well written. Based on the name, cover photo, and description, I expected non-stop laughs and instead got a beautifully written story with an amazing plot. You are definitely getting a favorite and a follow from me.

Well done, have a fav and a thumb.

loved the ocean's 11 reference. "you think we need one more?" love that movie. :pinkiehappy:

I think this is some of the best characterization that I've ever seen someone write for Bon Bon. It just clicks, y'know? I'd even go so far as to say that this Bon Bon is up there with the one from Mendacity, and in my opinion, that's saying quite something.

3968192

Thank you for your kind words!

3967183

You've been working on that speech for awhile?

Yeah, did I rush it? It feels like I rushed it.

No, it was good.

That was absolutely BRILLIANT! The characters were so consistant and beleivable and the story had the perfect mix of meaning and humour. I loved Pinkie's contribution and the subtleties, things that you had to read through again to understand. Fabulous. I am so glad I read Ried's review! xxx

3969905 I appreciate that.

3968279

So are you ready?

Ask me that question again Lyra and you will not wake up the following morning.

She's ready.

((this quote might have been altered for relevancy :derpytongue2: ))

....

I may have an idea for a sequel now.

Don't you mean 'Bad to the Bon'? :trollestia:

Absolutely loved it. Thank you for writing such an endearing story.

In my headcanon, ponies finely grind gems so they can eat them, because gems give them magical energy.

I hope you do write additional stories in this world. Bon Bon and Lyra were cute and I like how they could be a a look at what Twilight could have with Pinkie. More stories with both of these groups would be most welcome. I do like how if there is anything between Pinkie and Twilight it is subtle for now (which of course we don't expect out of Pinkie but it works so well). Hope to see more.

This was great. :pinkiehappy:

I really have to relate with Bon Bon. It is hard and seeing her trying to create a situation to make friends is pretty sad because she doesn't really have the courage to, well, make friends. I sometimes feel like that.

I played too many video games as a kid.

No such thing!

this was straight out amazing..... I thoroughly enjoyed this read... i will end this here, because im too tired to explain all i liked at this moment in time, however, i will be back to finish it later, as well as the rating i will be giving it.... :moustache:

That was a surprisingly sweet story. :trollestia:

I can't tell you how I found it. Popular stories box? It was solid enough, I'm glad I read it. Definitely a bit melancholy.

One thing I noticed:

She knocked over Spike and Bon Bon’s pans, causing their mix to go onto the floor.

This should be Spike and Lyra's pans.

Nicely done. As the Seattle's Angels mention said - which was what brought me here - there are not many Bon Bon centric stories and it is nice to see one for a change of pace. Good work.

This was surprisingly very, very good. The description was a bit dubious (and what is the [Dark] tag doing there?), but from nearly the very beginning you had me hooked. I'll be quiet with my critiques and just say that the tone and the not-quite-whiplash between hilarity and more sincere elements were both immaculate, and made this story just work for me. A most delightful melancholy....

Amazing story. :rainbowlaugh: 3-headed monkey? Nice.

:rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh: Pinkie's sneeze of the ages reminds me of fus ro dah

Accept a like and a favorite:twilightsmile:

4309490 I put an explanation in the description that basically it's there because
I can't put 'sad' but I agree it doesn't fit. I refuse to put tragedy. Any who, thanks for your kind words!

Been meaning to read this since its Seattle's Angels feature. Glad I did! It underwent a strange and disorienting metamorphosis halfway through, from borderline random comedy to character drama, but the character drama actually works, and I reached the end respecting the story more than I did during the funny parts.

Also, that final implication from Lyra. :trollestia:

I agree with you there, a excellent film, and a memorable moment.

A very simple and straightforward activity becomes a riot just by having the characters be themselves. Spike may get lousy episodes, but he can be more entertaining than any of the mane six if used right. And Lyra is one of those eccentric nuts who is just all-around fun.

Lyra was practically bouncing. “Chocolate time is the best time!”

Pinkie grinned, “It certainly is!”

WHOA, whoa, whoa... Pinkie Pie stated in Season 3, episode 11, that Spike Time is the best time! Sorry, but you're gonna have to go back and change that.
