Marcus Fenix has known almost nothing but war his entire life. It has consumed every aspect of his existence, and it has torn his world apart. After years of fighting and sacrifice, the tides have finally started to turn in favor of humanity. But after their most recent mission goes horribly wrong, Marcus and Delta squad find themselves in a bright world so very unlike their own. Surrounded by a myriad of talking ponies, can the hardened soldiers come to grips with the innocent nature of the realm they now find themselves in? And what will they do when they discover that all is not well in this naive new world?

(A/N: This story takes place before the events of Gear of War 3, and between seasons 2 and 3 of MLP: Friendship is Magic. I've never read most of the supplemental material for Gears, so forgive me if I get some of the background stuff wrong. I'll do my best to research it/correct myself.)

In the aftermath of the Changeling incursion of Canterlot during the marriage of Shining Armour and Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, Equestria gears itself for war against the Changeling menace. Against a foe that can take the shape of anypony, assume their life, and undermine Equestria from within, the Royal Pony Sisters create a new institution to monitor their Royal Guard for any Changeling corruption, cowardice, and incompetence: the Commissariat. As total war rages across the land one hero stands out above the rest; Commissar Blueblood, Hero of Equestria. Or at least that's what the propaganda says. The truth, as ever, is far more complex, as the esteemed Blueblood is merely looking for an easy and sedate life. Unfortunately, fate has a habit of throwing him into increasingly dangerous and suicidal missions, which he must survive with a combination of self-preservation, lying, and sheer blind luck, even if doing so only fuels his soaring reputation!

Two worlds that were never meant to connect. The apocalyptic war raging throughout Sera now finds itself raged in the magical land of Equestria. Ponykind finds itself allied with Humanity in order to survive not only the brutal and merciless nature of the Locust Horde, but that also of the dreaded and mutating Lambent.
Hero's will rise in these times of war, those who have already proven themselves saviors of there land will find themselves fighting a battle they have never fought. Lives will be lost, hearts will be shattered.

Note: The story begins with the Prologue and will later be put into sections marked as "Acts". These Acts will have their own chapters ranging from one to six at most, resembling the misson select system in the Gears of War games.

The world has gone through an industrial revolution, not bad. Progress is always good. Then came the advances to the military-industrial complex. Then the shit hit the fan. War has become a product thanks to the work of private military companies. Harmony is one such PMC. The Mane Six have come together to see if they can't break the world from using war as a business from within the war economy itself.

For Fifteen years, Celestia and the Northern half of Equestria have been in the hands of the most destructive enemy Equis has ever known, the Undead. For fifteen years, Shining Armor and Cadence, leading an order of ponies called the Argentum Solarium, have held the northern borders of the last surviving half of Equestria, Luna's Kingdom of Stormane. For fifteen years... Celestia, has been missing, and the sunlight that shines down upon all of Equis, has been cold, and unkind.

With rumors of the neighboring Griffon and Changeling empires gearing for war, and the Elements of Harmony, the six greatest heroes known to Equestria, broken and torn apart by their duties and responsibilities, will Equestria survive? And will the Undead, after fifteen years of remaining in the Fallen Kingdom, or the Shadowlands, finally march against the remaining life of Equis?
