All Luna wanted to do was spend time with her son. Being Princess of Equestria, she has very little time to do so, and the only way she can is through brief openings. She's finally found one: at the supermarket!

If only the demon sent by the IRS didn't ruin her day.

The Luna in this story is completely AU to fit the universe. In short: she never went to the moon for 1,000 years and is much more upbeat than her canon self. Hints of canon Luna will be sprinkled throughout because I still have to address the change in character.

Celestia and Luna are on vacation in some unknown place, enjoying their life and generally relaxing. With the reins of ruling passed on to Twilight, they can finally take a break for themselves and rest.

Luna seeks her own place in the world. Her sister is the sun in more ways than one and she's grown tired of always being eclipsed by that light, so she makes a decision. She will go on sabbatical, see the nation she was exiled from, participate in it, and what better place to start than an empire as timelost as herself. But stepping out of the light of the sun can lead to places full of shadows, and not even the Mare of the Moon commands all darkness.

Now, Luster Dawn wishes to disprove the existence of ghosts and allay her illogical fears of the castle being haunted, but a lingering presence is about to teach her something far more important.

This sleepy and midnight entry was part of B's 24-Hour Stream. Forgive some of the mistakes for eyes were sometimes closed during the writing of this piece. Hope y'all enjoy it.

Luster Dawn is a unicorn filly enrolled at Princess Twilight's School for Gifted Unicorns. After only a year, in which she displayed her exemplary use of magic and expertise at fostering friendships, it would come only as a surprise to her that Princess Twilight Sparkle would offer her the role of being her personal student. Whilst such a thing should have been an honour for the young filly, she can't help but let the stress of carrying such a title weigh heavy on her haunches.

Fortunately, her mother, who isn't the best when it comes to all things emotional, is there to lend her a hoof.
