With nothing happening, no world-conquering villains or Crystal Hearts being shattered and so on, Twilight is bored. She has nothing to do, plainly. But while in the middle of a drab reading session, she notices something doesn't feel right. Not to her, but in the night sky. She can't see it, but she can sense it. Something not from this world has entered her world, and it could be the first ever message from aliens.

And perhaps those aliens are trying to say hello.

Instincts are a powerful thing. For dragons, they're even stronger than most. Ocellus knows this. But when Smolder's instincts drive her into a hoarding frenzy, she's the one who must find a way to reach past those instincts and get through to Smolder herself, as well as discover a few things about herself along the way. Even if everyone knows the one thing you should never do is go into a dragon's lair.

Even if it's made of pillows.

You can find headlines like this in any newspaper. Crammed somewhere in the back, bought from a smaller publication for a few bits to fill space. Most ponies laugh, if they spot them at all, and then move on. But one stallion took a particular interest in these strange stories and especially their protagonist.

After years of research and study, he's determined to track her down. One way or another, he will find this mysterious Ponyville Mare.

During a class trip to Manehattan, a teenage Cheerilee has the most embarrassing experience of her life. Fortunately, fellow student and friend Vinyl Scratch is there to help her through the pain—and in the process, teach her something important about who she is.

Written for Trotcon 2019's Speedfics-R-Us panel, with minor revisions after. The prompt: write a story involving Cheerilee, Vinyl Scratch (a.k.a. DJ P0N-3), and Manehattan.

For as long as Rarity's operated Carousel Boutique, Pinkie Pie has come popping in at random intervals for random reasons. And that's fine: she's Pinkie Pie, after all.

Lately, however, Pinkie's visits seem to have become quieter, less frenetic, even relaxing to a certain extent. Rarity begins to wonder if something's going on.

The original version of this story eked out a 1st place finish in the 111th Writeoff contest, "Through Fire," and the cover image is by pinkcupcake17.

Her name is Wych Elm, but her friends call her Felly. She’s a wheelwright by trade, but rather than take the conventional route of simply building new wheels, she repairs broken ones for the working ponies in Manehattan. She's one of the ponies who make sure that the taxis, hansoms, omnibuses, wagons, and carts can continue on their appointed rounds after breaking a wheel in the busy streets.
