After her defeat in Canterlot at the hooves of Cadence and Shinging Armor, Chrysalis thought long and hard on how to exact her revenge on the newly married royals.

Then it came to her, "I'll build a doom citadel!" she proclaimed one day. And so, she and her minions worked tirelessly on the monstrous mountain of doom. Now with their work complete, they move to besiege the Crystal Empire.

Let's see how things go for them.

Since then it's been expanded and reworked.

Journals. Everyone keeps one, even if they call it by a different name. An autobiography, some online blog, or even fading memories in the mind regaled as tales to grandchildren, it's always recorded somewhere for someone to see or hear one day. And whether or not it's truth or fiction, it's always unique in delivering an individual perspective on life.

Celestia politely asked Sunny, her mirror pool duplicate, to write about her life experiences in one such journal.

Unfortunately for her, Sunny wasn't very good at following directions.

This is a side story to Letters from an Irritated Princess.

While knowledge of the whole series is not required, it is highly recommended that one has read the events beyond the Slice of Life Letter to have a better understanding of the circumstances. Otherwise, reading this might be confusing.

Correction: It will absolutely be confusing. Also made a small title change that should, in theory, be simpler.

In 2015, the Intragalactic Space and Aeronautics Coalition was formed by the Reformed League of Nations. Their primary objective is to collect data on potential candidates for deep space colonization. Never before has human kind joined together for a project of this magnitude. Taking full advantage of this opportunity, the bulk of Earth's remaining resources were poured into failed attempts to send prototype ships beyond the Solar System.

The last mission is upon them. The culmination of a decade of research has produced the 'Destiny', the last hope humanity has of sending a ship outside of the Solar System. Their Destiny leaves the system, only to end up in a world clear across the galaxy...

After May 23, humanity was a shell of its former self. Its entire population transformed, those who used to call themselves humans have to survive in an empty world.

Samuel Hunt was driving home before the Event, now he's a zebra in a place he wasn't before. Sam has to learn how to live in this new world now, and maybe even save it.

This is a different time. Equestria blooms with riches from beyond the seas that used to be its borders. Nightmare Moon's disruption of the Summer Sun Celebration is an event that never took place, and the Elements of Harmony are only a Hearth's Warming chant. Discord itself is more of a spirit of bad luck than a conqueror, sometimes thwarting weather forecasts and other times turning fields into candy corn.

But Equestria also used to be free. Many took to the sea hoping to recover some of that lost freedom and, for a time, it was good. Pinkie Pie's Sugarcube was the most reliable sugar cane trading ship of the Thirteen Seas. Thanks to her, Sweet Apple Acres always had what was needed for jam, the Cake's bakery of Ponyville Docks was a booming business, and even her own ship's kitchen had the freshest muffins on land or sea.

Until the sugar embargo.

With increasing frequency, Her Majesty's navy has been keeping an ever closer watch on the trades routes.

They should have watched even closer.

All was quiet in the small town of Ashfell. The town always got a lazy trickle of visitors, never more than a dozen at a time. That was, until the changelings came. Now amongst their number, Taylor Vasquez has to lead his town through the trials of being bug-horses. If only he knew anything about leading.

Discord in a rare moment of charity decides to try and help Scootaloo fulfill her lifelong dream of being able to fly. The problem is he goes about it by making her Equestria's newest Alicorn Princess, which leads to some complications with the ruling princesses.

What will this mean for the future of Equestria? And will Scootaloo be able to control her new powers?

Five years ago, Nightmare Moon returned to Equestria and took it by storm. She imprisoned her sister in the moon, and Equestria fell into an Age of Darkness. She ruled with an iron hoof; her word became law. The Mare in the Moon became a grim reminder of what happened to those who opposed the new tyrant, and nopony dared oppose.

Except for one aspiring unicorn.

Twilight Sparkle, a mare shackled by the failures of her past, prowls the ruins of the old capital Canterlot, praying for a spell that can right what has been so horribly wronged. Buried beneath the rubble of the Royal Library, she finds a tome that might be the answer to her prayers.

A "Warrior of Sunlight"; surely he will be able to overthrow the wicked tyrant and restore Celestia to her rightful throne. Twilight can almost see the sun returning over the horizon. She just didn't expect this warrior to be so... jolly.

Set in Starlight's "alternate future" where Nightmare Moon reigns.
