This story is a sequel to The Changeling of the Guard

To live in Everfree Forest requires one to make a lot of sacrifices. Zecora can attest to that; for years the ponies were too frightened of her and her studies to even make contact.

Then again, that's for the best; the forest has never been kind to intruders. One never does know what fate can be levied for not treating it with the respect it demands. Still, she wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

The same can't be said for her newest ward.

More future-sidequel than sequel to Changeling of the Guard, as Idol isn't starring, but something I'm going to work on in tandem with it.

In an alternative universe of Equestria, we follow four friends as they become infamous heroes.

Though, it would be helpful if their version of Equestria wasn't limited in the magic department so that only the most powerful beings had true magic...

And again, this wouldn't be too much of a problem, but without a large supply of magic the barrier between worlds... well... weakens.

In 2089, the International Colonization Initiative established Delta Base, an outpost on an asteroid in the outer rim of the solar system. From here, mankind planned to launch their most ambitious mission yet: a research mission to establish the race's first extrasolar colony. The first probes manufactured at the midway point were launched in 2091 and traveled to the nearby Alpha Centauri star system. While the data they beamed back was optimal and showed reasonably terraformable planets, it also revealed something that would change human history forever. After catching the attention of a Galactic Council scout ship, humanity was introduced to an organization comprised of ancient beings that were millennia more advanced than humanity. Ousted as primitives, mankind was protected under only a treaty with the Council that merely encouraged the more advanced species not interfere with humanity's path to what the Council considers adequately mature.

However, those suggestions went largely unheeded by the ancients. what began as an innocent outpost on Pluto by the Ofshin, a race of feathered bird-like creatures, that was hesitantly tolerated by the United Nations out of fear. However, this minor violations opened the floodgates for the other member species to begin encroaching on human territory. After all, man was viewed as an animal, practically. In the face of this obvious threat, humankind reorganized itself into the United Terran Empire. Now, they only had one thing on their mind: preserving man's rightful place amongst the stars. Subsequently, this meant gaining the attention of the Galactic Council, and the only way to do that was to "mature." Research and development of science and mathematics became the forefront of society and a tier-based caste system was adopted to increase social efficiency.

Now, it has been 500 years since the adoption of this new form of government. The progress that has been made is astounding, to say the least. Not only has mankind devised the basics of at least every technology the ancients have developed, but humans were also able to leverage this impressive display of ingenuity to earn themselves a seat on the Council, becoming the youngest race to join. However, they still have far to go. Right now, humanity is looked down upon, not as primitives but rather as delinquents. The galaxy feels as though man does not deserve such a quick pass into the Council when the others had to earn their place through thousands of years of tedious and thorough scientific advancement.

How was humanity to climb this now insurmountable ladder of galactic respect? Equestria may hold the answer as magic is unraveled to reveal the true history of human and ponykind in the universe.

It has been almost fifty years since Equestria's first rocket. Not content with merely expanding to the stars, Equus has since consolidated their efforts into URSA - the Unified Royal Science Agency - to discover if ponykind is truly alone in the galaxy.

Unfortunately for the crew of a lone freighter, they find themselves unwittingly answering URSA's question when their freighter crashes on an alien world teeming with life. Staying put and waiting for rescue would have been easy, except for one small problem: they're not the only intelligent life on this planet.

Stranded and with no guidebook to fall back on, things can only go so well for them before they start falling apart.

About updates: Unwitting Pioneer is going to be my first story ever that I hope to complete, so expect updates to take a while to complete!

Also, thanks to the following people for their help in this endeavor of mine:
Mixtape; for giving me encouragement, Chyre; for their pre-reading help, Anon3mous1 and M127; for their help in turning the description and blurb from incoherent ramblings into something that I would never have been able to come up with.

Unknown to most inhabitants of Equestria, members of an alien people have come to live among them. Also unknown is that they're there involuntarily, in the dark as to why and how they're there, transformed into members of the native species.

What many ponies do know, the ones who live in Canterlot at least, is that there's a new venue open in Equestria, very exclusive, but not for the rich elite, nor the cultural avante garde. In fact, there seem to be no rhyme or reason to determining who is allowed and not allowed in on the premises, and despite many petitions to have the discriminating bouncer fired, things go on as usual in this strange new club.

Shout out to billymorph for planting the idea for this story in my head with his own story, The Humans in Equestria Club.
