Twilight and Spike lived their childhood in Canterlot Castle under the benevolent eye of Princess Celestia and violent protection of her resident, so called, monster. A monster she returns to to find peace with but also unexpected danger and threats.

seriously all that and the mane 6 still have the audacity to be self righteous? pinky pie at least has the ability to know when and wwhen it is not the right time to be a total jackass about everything.
fairly certain fluttershy is a spy
sincerely hope karma gets off her ass soon and starts setting things right.
Wow that was intense!
So many fucked up things happening at once. Not only fucked up in twisted situations but also in cringeworthy motives. I can only shake my head at what some of them do, with only Applejack and Pinkie having some sort of normality to themselves.
If Fluttershy ends up betraying them, I will be severely disappointed in the mane six. Those that know the basis of friendship and are the flag bearers for their specific element, yet are willing to forgo everything just because circumstances change are not Elements of harmony in my books.
Godammit, Nappa...
Today must not be Luna's day. Two beating in one day and she is an alicorn!
6870370
It is not betrayal if she has been grown to obey. Look at the general themes of this story, consider what kind of a person Fluttershy is and how she reacts to people and then proceed to forgive her what she is doing even before we know what she is doing.
If author is kind she was not one of the a fore mentioned foals.
I kinda hoped the dream sequence would have been a "what if" if Raegdan didn't bother to save her. Let her experience the rape and torturer she would have gotten. Wonder what her view would be then.
6870495
To me, there is no excuse for not thinking critically in any situation, be in Fluttershy or any other. How I see it, is that if what she is doing is (assuming it's anything) 'right' only because of an ingrained concept and not one she thought up, then she might as well be a changeling drone. I don't care, regarding this context, if what she thought was right because her own thinking brought her to this conclusion, at least she came to it based off of her own critical thinking. While I'll be annoyed that she jumped hastily, I at least will forgive her for following her own beliefs, not some ingrained from birth ones.
Of course this is all assuming that whatever she is doing is of some massive negative significance to Luna and Raegdan.
Good chapter!
Pinkie's internal narration is a thing of beauty. Do that more often.
Pinkie, this is hardly a very appropriate joke to make about your dad. Now I'm kind of wondering about you.
Oh God, now I wish I hadn't wondered.
...
You know, it's kind of ironic, given her history and what others think of her, but you've got to give it to Luna: she's professional enough to know when to leave her feelings aside and stick to a plan.
Man, fuck you, Twilight. Just fuck you. Even with mindfuckery magic involved, that's low.
See, this right here is good writing. It took you more than half the chapter to get to the punchline for that joke, but when you did, the payoff was worth it.
...oooh, I get it. He got nailed. Wow, that's a painful one. Pun intended.
Wow! Just wow!
That Fluttershy plot twist.
Ouch. Luna's spells are really going to mess things up when they get out.
Also, now I am even more confused on who Raegdan was. Also, please tell me he didn't end up the way you implied at the end of that torture scene. I think that is more horrifying than anything else. And not for just the scars it leaves.
I... This chapter was amazing! Though some topics did stir my inner fire...
A head's-up, the following comment will be a rant. You have been warned.
This conflict between Twilight & Raegdan reminds me somewhat of this scene from "A Few Good Men". Yes, Raegdan did some damn twisted s**t, but he did so because he loved Twilight & Spike so much there was nothing he wouldn't do to protect them. It dosen't matter how much of himself he has to sacrifice, as long as they remain safe...
And Twilight's response to his sacrifice is nothing short but spit on it & run away crying as though he violated her. Seriously, the reason for her anger is because she feels as though the blood is on her hoofs too? Correct me if i'm mistaken but If it hadn't been for Raegdan, Twilight could've been some depraved noble's f**k-toy for her entire life. Her & many others! Tell me, what else could he have done? Tell Celestia? Use less ruthless tactics in extracting the necessary information? Why were they not options that he considered?
Because those would take time. Time of which he couldn't waste. By the time either Celestia would've found useful intel or the pony Raegdan interrogated would spill, poor little filly Twilight might've already been raped many times over! Sometimes you have to adapt & make certain choices depending on the situation. What Raegdan did was bad, yes... but given the circumstances, it was one of the better choices with the better outcomes....
And she goes off not only questioning his actions but his reasons too!? Thinking that he did it because he's a monster!?
Twilight is in no position to question Raegdan's actions or motives! Especially since she was the one he saught to protect! That's like a military officer would torture a potential terrorist for information to save a bunch of hostages, only to have the very same hostages accusing him of crimes against humanity & that they feel as though he has violated them by the acts he did to save them! Does that sound right to you? Does it?! It sure dosen't sound right to me!
Wow, this got me really fired up. Honestly though, f**k you Twilight. This chapter all but buried any affection i once held for you...
6870906
Yes it does. There is a reason why we punish this kind of thing: because things are either wrong to do or they are not. There is no such thing as an acceptable target. If it's a crime for them to commit vicious acts of abuse against someone you care about, then it's a crime for you to commit it against someone else as well. Anything else is a self-serving double standard. Things do not become morally wrong or right just on the basis of how much you like the victim. Raegdan is not a hero for doing this, no matter what inadvertent (and entirely unintended) good may have come from it as a side effect. That's entirely the point.
6870843 i just got the Crucifixionanything i missed?
That poor bastard...
BOOM, Clockwerk, you owe me a forty!!! YES!!! I knew Fluttershine was a spy!!!!
Eat a bag of dicks, because I TOLD you!!!
6870923
That... is true. Though i guess i should've formulated myself a little better with that statement...
I'm not saying what Raegdan did was GOOD. If i gave that impression, then i'd like to apologize. I was trying to say that sometimes you can be pushed into a situation were you have to make morally questionable decisions for the greater good. Was the reason behind the actions good? Yes. The actions themselfs? No. I'll concede that point. That however wasn't the issue i had with Twilight in this story nor what i was raging about.
It was Twilight's reaction to the revelation that angered me.
No matter how gruesome the acts commited were, some form of appreciation should be warranted. After all, Raegdan did those things for Twilight's protection. But if not, she could've just made it clear she was very angry & disappointed in him. But that's not what she did, did she? No, she went out of her way to demonize him. All the love he had shown her throughout her life she dismissed as falsehoods, a lie concocted to earn her trust. She stopped seeing him as an sane individual but as a bloodthirsty beast. She stopped calling him a "He" but an "It". As you said yourself;
And when pried on the subject of her anger by Luna, this is what we get;
She's angry because she blames herself for being the cause of the murders. She's angry because she feels responsible for his actions. That somehow, it's her fault... Excuse me, but what about the victims? Are you telling me the primary reason for her anger WASN'T that Raegdan tortured & killed but that it made her feel bad?
I can't speak for anyone but myself, but the fact that Twilight is more upset at Raegdan because he made her feel bad about herself RATHER than the fact he took the lifes of others... That sounds quite selfish to me.
Does that mean anything? Of course not, this is nothing but my personal take of this chapter. Someone might reply to this message to refute my claims (Which i'm completely okay with, i love to debate. ) & prove me wrong. But the fact stands that i personally think that prioritizing your own emotions over the deaths of others is a very selfish thing to do. And i think that this was exactly what Twilight was doin' in this chapter... which is why i'm so angry at her.
I love almost everything about this chapter, the scene with twilight and celestia was my favorite.
The one thing I don't like was Twilight and Luna's fight.
I get that you are meaning to show how flawed Luna's approach to the whole situation is aggravating the situation, but Twilight's performance and thoughts are just too disonant from how she thought when she was talking with Celestia, the mindset Twilight was in for her encounter with Luna both pre and post mind-rape dream was more in line with how she was thinking BEFORE she talked with Celestia. It just reads badly and reflects badly on Twilight because it looks like she didn't learn anything even though she clearly learned something and was reminiscing on it before Luna pulled her in to that room.
6870906
This guy hits the nail on the head for why I found it unlikable.
"If it's a crime for them to commit vicious acts of abuse against someone you care about, then it's a crime for you to commit it against someone else as well."
this sentence right here basically means the entire prison system should be abolished. since no one is put in prison willingly, they are placed there by their piers and judged accordingly based on the morality of society. Acts are judged as morally acceptable or not based on the social evolution of the peoples. Ex: for a long time raping a woman wasnt really a crime against the woman, but against the father or the husband as you took their property. Now its a crime against the woman. That is an extreme example but there are others, look at the age of consent, technically a female and male are able to have sex as soon as they hit puberty, but we put a law on that pushing it by about 5-10 years.
yes, what reagdan did was wrong, but if you talk to parents, especially those with kids, they would thank him for his actions. some might even say he should have dragged out their punishment. If you are still not convinced there was a story in the late 80's early 90's. A man shot a pedophile being escorted by several armed marshals in an airport. The marshals were no more then 5 feet away from the guy when he got shot, could have killed a marshal. The pedophile was shot by the father of the kid he attacked, the fathers crime? carrying an unlicensed weapon. 1 year prison with probation. you might say "reagdan isnt a hero" but to some he is the only hero they got when they prayed for salvation.
Tada. Another twicunt persona.
6871115
I suppose I can see your point, then. I've met too many people who genuinely do believe in that kind of moral double standard for everyone who's an acceptable victim by their definition, so I took it to mean you agree with his actions, not just disagree with Twilights reaction to them. I recently talked to someone here who actually maintained that there is no moral difference between a soldier shooting someone on the battlefield and the systematic slaughter of unarmed civilians and that war crimes shouldn't exist, because wanton brutality "damages the enemy's morale, which is a war material," if you can believe it.
I guess so. Personally, though, I think that at this point, Luna has messed with her enough that we can't consider her entirely in her right mind in terms of how she actually rationalizes and acts on her own feelings about the matter. She has every right to be pissed about what he did, after all, and that he claims he did it "for her" (when, let's be honest, he really did it entirely for himself) probably only makes it hit harder. People tend to not deal too well when confronted with crimes of that magnitude, especially when they're committed by someone very close to them and in a manner that directly relates to them.
6871153
Ask yourself, then: if it's not a crime or morally wrong so long as you do it to someone you hate, then what did those people ever do to actually deserve being called criminals to begin with? Even the US, unabashed violator of human rights and international treaties that it is, has legal provisions against "cruel and unusual punishments." Prisons exist because they're the least cruel and easiest-to-reverse option we've got if it turns out someone was convicted innocently. Good luck un-torturing someone if it turns out you were wrong about them. Even if social mores change with the times, the law still needs to, if it wants to be at all legitimate, reflect the concept of justice to some degree - and torturing and killing someone for your own emotional satisfaction is not justice. It's revenge.
I agree with your final line, though, which is why I said in my comment to the previous chapter that given the choice between two evils, those being either Raegdan taking down the slavery thing his way and the corrupt guard sweeping it all under the rug, what Raegdan did was the lesser one. That doesn't make it not be an evil, though.
6871003 Rape...that's what he's talking about.
Raegdan was unable to move and the shadow was ripping his clothes off to rape him.
yep
6870906 there is a reason of why we have laws and we are a civilization.
Nothing but nothing should use the phrase the end justify the means. There are many options pf how he could have habdled the situation or somebody with the mind right.
Okay, I haven't even finished this chapter and I feel compelled to say. . . Reading Pinkie Pie made me want to hurt something small and fluffy.
This is disturbing, because I love things that are small and fluffy.
That is all.
6871884
And i agree with you. As i stated in a previous comment, i wasn't trying to justify what Reagdan did & i'm sorry i gave off that impression. This is what i meant to say;
6871488 oh,wow that flew right over my head. Dats some nasty shit there.
Never in my life have I ever wanted a character dead as much as I want Luna dead, right now. Jesus fucking Christ, these ponies ate fucking helping, or trying to help, you, but all you do is fuck them over and over. When everything finally hits the fan, hopefully because Aj goes to Celestia after seeing Luna leave Twilight's room like that, everything she gets will be deserved.
Where Raegdan is doing what he does for others, Luna is just being a selfish cunt. Shit, I was even on her side until now. Get bent.
6873840
Trying to help?
Are you kidding?
Twilight wanted to condemn Raegdan to death without knowing anything about why he did what he did.
She wanted him dead.
She wasn't even willing to acknowledge that he was anything but an unthinking beast.
Luna, upon realizing that Twilight wasn't even considering him as an intelligent being, showed Twilight a small glimps of what he went through.
If you're willing to kill someone who was a victim of a crime for stopping a criminal from infilcting the same crime on others (children no less!), then the only way you have ANY right to have a say in the matter is if you too have been a victim of that same crime.
If a rapist is caught and tortured for information to save his victims, the torture isn't a crime.
A crime would be NOT getting that information in the fastest manner physically possible (so long as the only person harmed is the rapist and his accomplices).
Twilight had no right to pass judgement on Raegdan.
The only people that have a right to punish him would be the victims that he saved.
If THEY feel that what he did was unjust, ONLY then would he deserve punishment.
He did what was necessary to save the innocent from horrific treatment.
Additionally, if anyone is willing to rape someone like that, they deserve everything and anything that a rape victim inflicts upon them.
What comes around goes around.
What happened was nothing more than Karmic balance.
To simply kill someone who's committed an act as cruel as rape (or anything similar) on someone they know to be an innocent person, then killing them outright is not justice.
If you inflict it on an innocent person, you deserve to have it done to you before they kill you.
If you're doing this to someone who's done it to someone else (someone who was innocent), they have it coming.
The only crime there would be not doing so, or allowing that person to live afterward.
6874154
What I find surprising is that everyone condemning what he did seems more concerned with him killing the rapist slavers than trying to find out if there's more of them in other large cities like he believes there to be and warned them about.
6874355
I applaud him, personally.
I'm of the opinion that you give up your "human" rights when you commit an atrocity like enslaving children for sex.
At that point, you're nothing but a sack of fresh meat to be done with as anyone with a grudge to settle pleases.
Just pin a metal on Raegdan, and let him do as he wishes.
I'm sure he'll find someone out there who needs some killing.
6874154 I have zero issue with what Raegdan is doing. I'm glad he did what he did, but Twilight had every right to judge him how she feels she needs to. Ever since she found out about the point eating the first time, he has done NOTHING but ostracize himself from her through lies and half truths and betrayals. She came back and was willing to help him, but she got nothing but shit from him and Luna (mostly Luna). Luna has fought Twilight and friends tooth and nail from the beginning, even after Twilight gave her word to ignore what Raegdan had done until the time where they were safe so he could answer for his CRIMES. Yes, him killing those ponies was a crime regardless of whether or not it was deserved.
Deals were made, and, based on the fact that Raegdan and Luna WILLINGLY made him out to seem like a moster in the confession, everything Luna just did flies in the face of that. She deserves everything she has coming to her. Hell, I hope Raegdan tears her wings off for what she did when (if, fucking coward) she decides to tell him.
Is Fluttershy spying for Luna or spying for the Solar Guard? Hmm. It looks like the Solar Guard right now, but I don't think Fluttershy would betray her friends like that...
Guess we'll see.
6870906 I could see just outright killing them. However, Torture is just falling to their own level. Others who commit such putrid acts should be removed from the world. Just not in the same way that they destroy others.
6874693
That's really the important part about this. We condemn people like as evil this precisely because of their actions. The acts aren't only made evil based on who performs them.
On one hand, what Raegdan said to Celestia is worrying for its scale, on the other, if just two of those scars are minor ones on his body, I am almost worried about the rest and the related injuries he had. Especially considering how in my mind, I picture him so covered in scar tissue that they have begun overlapping despite the best efforts of medicine and tissue grafting to hide them. Either that, or his body looks lIke that of Vash from Trigun who still had his left arm. And considering you can see a corner of one of his ribs through a set of metal bars on his chest...
Oh look an update, how did I miss this? *begins reading*

Fucking... my jimmies are so thoroughly rustled that I cannot even.
Even now all I can think of is shipping Pinkie and Raegdan.
Fucking fantastic job you glorious bastard.
Okay...that's a "The Hangover MCMXCIX" reference in the making
Raegdan: "How the fuck did I get this tat!?"
Luna *smirks*: "How'd I get this black eye?"
Raegdan: "WTF!?"
Think this is where I stop. I tried to like this story, really I did, but I just can't do it.
And 17K words from Pinkie Pies perspective? Just no.
I can only reserve judgement till more is revealed, but props on making the plot VERY convoluted
I really liked this chapter, especially Pinkie's stream of thought. Keep up the great work.
Pinkie's scene was awesome. It was worded perfectly to be taken in all the interesting ways. And yes I did use interesting because I wasn't sure if right or wrong would've been more accurate.
I never thought I'd say this but... I can't handle all these drama now. Buuut, at the same time I have a burning rage to know more and what the fuck happened. There's still not a lot of information on what Raegdan past was like besides that it was real shitty. On the other hand, finally they cuddled with each other-- even though Raegdan was out cold. People are probably going to cringe of how hard I'm shipping these two, but can you blame me? I'm pretty hooked up on this story, and love the two brutal partners. My only hope is that Raegdan's past and his first interactions with Luna would exceed my expectations and be very interesting.
So uh... more cuddles with the human plz
You know the thestrals, the bat ponies, could make lunar guards?
6913515 When I thought up the story I actually dismissed thestrals as simple normal guards who wore enchanted armor. While that might be the case, I've changed my mind on how it will work in this AU and I'm thinking of them having adopted a wandering lifestyle, something like gypsies perhaps. A Lunar Guard is going to slowly start forming now, and some thestrals will join, as will other guys too but much of that will be because of the mane six's intervention rather than Luna and Raegdan's charismatic presence.
So yeah, thestrals incoming.
6915027 only reason I thought about the thestrals was because of the vid by Jan animations (children of the night) and how the ponies in the vid seem to praise her. I had an idea that I thought it would be funny to see a more docile religious fanatics if the thestrals praise Luna like the solar guard do Celestia.
London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down~
Ah. That "it" bit paid off sooner than I was expecting. Figured that was an unintended result of Luna's earlier mental manipulation.
realities a bitch ain't it
/gets flashbacks to DoaM.
Chrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiist man... this is insanity. I have a lot of thoughts, but I loath making massive comments... love reading them though, hahaha XD
But crap man... this mind wipe stuff Luna is doing... I love her and all but if she did that shit on me and I somehow found out.
Sorry but I'm probably not gonna trust ya anymore... you don't do that shit man.
JEEEZZ...
Welp, time to keep reading.
