Spike is eager to go enjoy a day that seems to be tailor-made for merriment and friends, but Twilight is having none of that. Instead, she decrees that such a day is meant for geology, and Spike is the unwilling assistant. Will he be able to have any fun, or is his day on the rocks?

*This story was co-written and edited by Georg, and much thanks and gratitude is offered from the publishing author for these services.*

Spike is best snarker.

And another large thank you from me to you for your co-writing and editing prowess. This really should be your story, given how much you put into it. :yay:

Looks like Spike's in a ton of trouble with Twilight. Also, Spike naming the giant earthworm "Jim," is that reference to the video game character Earthworm Jim?

He might be in a little trouble, but Twilight shouldn't torture the poor little guy like that.

And this guy?

Yup. Totally a reference to him. Just can't help myself. :pinkiehappy:

To be fair, Twi, you were sort of asking for that. :rainbowlaugh:

I was sort of expecting the tale to end on some kind of moral or something, but this works too.

The moral of the story is "make sure you treat your minions properly." :rainbowlaugh:

Hehehe, sounds like something I’d want to do but never would xD

Passive aggressive behavior is a powerful tool. Use it wisely.

Featured!

Heh, even child slave labor isn't free. :moustache: Excellent scientific documentation, Spike!

Hey, you get what you pay for, right? :trollestia:

That ending got me! Have a like! :rainbowlaugh:

Run Spike Run!

You know, I feel bad for Spike and Twilight. I can empathize with both of them; wanting to be free to do my own thing, and getting irritated when others don't follow my perfectly simple instructions.

I won't say who's at fault here, since I'm a biased party (Twilight is my favorite pony). Besides, as of this moment I'm too lazy to write anymore. :derpytongue2:

P.S. Have a like!

I just couldn't resist. :pinkiehappy:

I shall take that like and treasure it. Thanks! :yay:

I was studying a mixed igneous-metamorphic outcropping in Lorimer Park, near Fox Chase, PA. There, I found quite a quantity of almandite and spessartine garnet schist as well as some small crystals of black tourmaline. I'm hoping to locate a few little geodites at some point with some clearer samples, maybe including an andradite! :twistnerd:

oh my god, a bag of rocks!

8981405
Twilight needs to go with you next time! :yay:

Let a kid be a kid.:rainbowlaugh:

Good job!:moustache:

Huh. Given Spike's diet, I figured he'd have picked up a little something about geology...

Brilliant use of Pinkie's past, especially at a point before Twilight learned about it.

“See ya around, Jim,” said Spike as he put him back in the small hole. “I hope you have more fun today than I will.”

And for a moment, every cow on Sweet Apple Acres felt inexplicably nervous.

In all, a lovely slice of life for a Twilight and Spike who still have a lot to learn in and from Ponyville. Thank you for it.

Thanks for reading! I do have to give Georg his proper due, this story would have been "I hate collecting rocks, the end" without his wonderful additions.

As for Spike's diet, I would bet he doesn't think much about it, kinda like how people tend to not think about where their food comes from. Gems are edible, stones are not. What else matters?

This is why you make sure your assistant is one, paid, and two, actually wants to be there; preferably either a fellow geologist or a geology student/major

I bet Twi could get a grant to go study if she tried. Takes care of the paid intern part. :)

It probably wouldn't be hard. Even when she wasn't a princess, she'd be able to show her credentials and probably get it lol
