When a Royal Guard of the Crystal Empire finds an abandoned changeling foal, she takes in the infant and raises it as her own daughter. It’s love at first sight, and the bond that forms between them gets the guard in a lot more trouble than she bargained for.

So, for a single, of large, attack where nobody, at least according to canon, died, Shining Armour ordered for any and all changelings to be mercilessly murdered on sight, without questions. Yeah, seems about right. Power of friendship at its finest. I wonder if the princesses know.
Nice start, though poor changelings. Pyrite is dangerously cute, though. I just hope that the Chryssie tag is not for her appearing as the big bad to be killed later.
Found a few small errors, hopped instead of hoped, an instead of an and an unneeded the before Amber's rations.

i like it and i think the limb Amethyst has is from Pyrite but i don't want to believe that
Sergeants are non-commissioned officers. that's why they hate being called sir. Also why in movies, TV shows, books and games they are called sarge or non-coms.
While something similar to this senario is definitely believable, I feel like the way the characterizations were handled were massively in the extremes. Silver is acting like he has a blood feud with the changeling race but meanwhile Amethyst is rooted firmly in the implications that she's desperate to have a child of her own and is willing to take in what seems to be the pony equivalent of a monstrous vampire, even if it is a "harmless child" instead of appealing to the crown like seems to be a far more logical step.
I hope these characters get the appropriate story building to justify and round out the motives behind their actions.

But really, the main difference is that commissioned officers handle politics and bureaucracy, things that don't always translate well in a much more militant-worker society, while the NCOs tend to handle managing the execution of intent and readiness of the troops. Without a CO, the NCO is to far detached from the government to act accurately and without the NCO, the CO is too far detached from the troops to maintain their readiness and willingness to act.
You will see NCOs that handle administrative paperwork instead of lower enlisted and you will see CO that will oversee troops during their activities but the NCO will still usually be working on managing those below while a CO will be taking in the orders from above and planning out how to carry out that intent.
7569003 To be fair, the only reason no one died is because the changelings either mind raped or cocooned them all. Add to the fact that, in canon, changeling feeding has a detrimental effect on the host, and both Shining Armor and Cadence were negatively affected by Queen Chrysalis, it is reasonable for them to assume that all changelings are evil by default. This is, of course, not true, but they are, by there experiences, justified by Chrysalis' actions. Doesn't mean it still isn't bigotry, though.
