Adagio discovers a downside to being a human girl and seeks the help of Sunset Shimmer to understand it.

One month ago Silver Spark started school at Canterlot High after moving to get away from his past and recover from his loss. This plan hasn't gone very well so far; it's almost as if someone is actively trying to ruin his life. Friendless and avoided by the bulk student body, he is an ideal target for bullies. The Fall Formal is coming soon and Silver might just find a place for a proper new beginning.

Still, ignoring the past doesn't make it go away. It has a habit of popping back up in the strangest ways.

Note: This starts as a re-telling/writing of the Equestria Girls storyline starting at the very beginning but you can expect some divergence from canon as time progresses. it is first person, primarily from the perspective of Silver Spark. It would have been the end of their story. But fate had other plans, which involved people that, under normal circumstances, they would have avoided as much as possible.

It is a warm spring day, and the heroes of Canterlot High are gathering their families for the spring picnic. In the course of the day, one of the children asks how their parents met.

So of course, they all decide to spill the beans of special moments, remembering what had happened in that special moment of alone time.

Taking her words to heart, they took her into their circle friends, giving her a gift that can't be priced... a gift that saved them in their darkest hour against their worst foes yet.

Months later, Sunset Shimmer is a changed mare, and the Rainbooms are finally, seemingly, able to rest on their laurels. Until, an old foe returns... but not the same as she was before. Things have changed, and the Rainbooms may have another chance to give the gift that had so enriched their own lives... and restore hope to someone who feels as though deserve nothing.
