This story is a sequel to What I've Become

It is highly recommended that you read What I've Become before you read this story, since this is the second story in The Humanity Within Trilogy, and you will be lost if you just plunge into this without any preparation.

Also, this story already has a sequel: What I Am!

Things have been turning up roses for me lately. I'm no longer fighting to survive, I have people that I can turn to, and I have my face back, all because of the kindness shown to me by strangers.
But will they continue to help me once they find out what dark secrets haunt my past? Will they shun me for the evil deeds that my abductors forced me to do while I was in their service? Will they continue to protect me from the monsters that destroyed my life, once they realize what kind of monster I really am?

Twelve thousand years ago, humanity was driven into a war with an unknown enemy. Fire rained from the heavens and the sky turned dark as the sun dimmed. Acid poured from the clouds and a plague was unleashed upon mankind: A virus that caused men to turn on one another. A disease that forced man to fall to his knees and beg for mercy. A pathogen that ravaged man’s civilization.

And when humanity lost all chances of reconciliation, all hope of keeping their loved ones safe, they pulled the plug, three hundred souls left Earth while sacrificing their only home to the angel of the enemy.

In the twelve millennia since the Great War, all traces of humanity have been wiped from the surface of the Earth. In man’s rightful place now are a multitude of sapient species. For twelve thousand years, these animals have lived in peace and harmony, man reduced to nothing more than but a myth, a folk tale, a legend.

But word has spread across the countryside. Word of forgotten beasts that still walk the western wastelands. Creatures able to bend the world to their will without the help of magic. Creatures said to be older than time itself.

The time has come for Discord to face the inevitable. He is an immortal, and Twilight Sparkle isn't. But will he be able to deal with her passing?

TD, the human that first showed up in Equestria in No, I am NOT a Brony, GET ME OUTTA EQUESTRIA!!! is depressed that he's stuck in the world of ponies with no way home, but finds solace in helping Cheerilee teach her class. However, Cheerilee is sick with the flu one week, and that just happens to be the week that a teaching supervisor comes to the small Ponyville classroom. From the very beginning she has doubts that TD is a person fit to teach the future generations of Equestria. Should TD fail to meet her standards, he will not be allowed to teach them anymore.

Ever since Discord did NOT tell Twilight just who planted the seeds that nearly threw entire Equestria in disarray, Twilight has been giving this secretive relationship-y thingy some serious thought. But it is hard to hold Discord down from doing what he wants and getting what he wishes. It is going to be hard to juggle his chaotic persona with the harmonic balance of the kingdom she was chosen to rule.

It is also probably going to be quite funny.

You'd think that being trapped in stone would mean that, if nothing else, I could get some peace and quiet. Unfortunately, it seems that Celestia has other ideas.

She has appointed these ponies... these 'Keepers', as she calls them, to keep me entertained during my incarceration.

Honestly? I'd prefer the boredom.
