Leading the hive is a role Thorax fell into, but as more and more changelings look up to him they consider him a replacement for their former Queen. Now they want to make it official, but Thorax isn’t so sure. Perhaps his pony friends can give him advice on the matter.

So, here it is. My very first story. A lot of thanks to my beloved Foofy, who's been supporting and helping me from the very beginning.

Twilight Sparkle has been abandoned.

After an expedition into the badlands is torn to tatters by an unprecedented monster attack, Twilight finds herself stranded in a hostile environment with no safe way back home. With no supplies and no survival training, It all seems hopeless for the scholarly unicorn until she is discovered by a type of creature she has never seen before. A changeling named Thorax, a native of the badlands.

With Thorax's knowledge of the environment, he is Twilight's best chance of getting home safely. And by that same token, perhaps Twilight is the best chance the timid, pacifistic drone has of discovering something he has lived his entire life without.

Set well before the Season 2 Finale.

As the former Bearers of Harmony and future Council of Friendship prepare to take the reins of the nation, something has to give. In this case, "something" is their positions at the School of Friendship.

This leaves said school's new headmare in a bit of a predicament. After all, the school now has two headponies, one counselor, and zero teachers.

Nearly a week since the Storm King's defeat and still no one has seen trace of Discord. Decades after the founding of Equestria, the nation faces an existential threat -- a war with the dragons.

The dragons have proposed a truce. Luna and Discord are uncertain, but Celestia insists that they must give the dragons the benefit of the doubt, and accept the truce.

This turns out to be a mistake.
