Author's note to clarify; This story takes place in a human version of Equestria, but not the EG versions of the characters exactly, for clarification.

Octavia Philharmonica grew up a single child in her family's country estate, and had discovered her natural gift with the cello at the young age of 7. What followed was a life of luxury and praise, all the endorsements and deals she could ever want. Now, at the age of 23, the savant lives a life that's slowly losing the spark it once had. The music she once lived for, has became dull and monotone. This void in her life has only highlighted her biggest issue of all; she's lonely... really lonely. As a girl who was thrust into a serious career at a young age, she never got to develop the bonds and friendships that other's seemed to find so easily.

Though, that at all changed one fateful day, when she meet a DJ who showed her a new purpose. A girl, named Vinyl Scratch.

Four years ago Vinyl and Octavia broke up. It was messy, painful and left scars on both of them. Four years on, now one of the most successful DJs in Equestria’s history, Vinyl receives news that Octavia has been in a terrible accident. The doctors say she may never recover from her coma, but Vinyl refuses to believe them. There are all sorts of stories about coma patients who are brought back by the voice of someone they care about, right? No matter what anypony else says, offers or threatens, and no matter what it costs her personally or professionally, she is determined to stay by Octavia’s side and do all she can to wake her.

But four years is a long time, and no matter how many fairytales end with the princess waking up, real life owes no-one a happy ending.

Octavia is losing her classical mojo, causing her producer to try somewhat of a last ditch effort and pair her with a composer of a different kind of music. She later finds out that they too are losing their motivation, but also something a little more important.

This story is a sequel to Changeling Courtship Rituals

Queen Chrysalis attacked Canterlot, brainwashed Twilight Sparkle's brother, kidnapped her former foalsitter, defeated her mentor in combat, and conquered her kingdom. She kidnapped the sisters of Twilight's friends, turned them against one another, and tried to drain all of Twilight's magic. Queen Chrysalis has, at every opportunity, done her very best to utterly destroy Twilight Sparkle's life.

For some reason, this has not caused the pony to fall in love with her.

However, due to Twilight's misunderstanding of changeling customs, it does mean they are now married. Twilight eventually managed to tell the Queen the truth, but she forgot that whether it's a kingdom or a heart, changelings conquer.

And since the changeling way of conquest didn't work, Chrysalis is determined to try the pony way. The only problem is, of course, she has no idea what that is. But she knows someone who does: Princess Cadance.

Now, with the absolutely sincere help of her mortal enemy, the pony she once locked in the caves beneath Canterlot while trying to steal her husband on their very wedding day, Queen Chrysalis is going to woo the sister-in-law of that very pony.

Surely this is the most perfect plan ever devised.

Octavia and Vinyl couldn't be more different. Sure, they both like jazz(-ish), but that's about all they have in common. After one really bad first impression, can these two stand to be around each other long enough to recognize that they're not that different? And that they're both looking for the same thing?

Not if they have anything to say about it. Goodbye, security deposits.

It was supposed to be Octavia’s first big moment in her beginning career. To her dismay a unicorn named Vinyl Scratch stole her spotlight and left an impression on the cellist she would so soon not forget.

This is my take on how two of my favorite ponies met and the stages they went through.

This story takes place about 2 years before Nightmare Moon returns, so you will not see any of the main characters here. If you are here for some Scootaloo & Rainbow Dash, I am sorry to disappoint you.

But please….stay a while and listen….err read.

Rated Teen for some slightly darker scenarios in later chapters and some crude attempted humor.

Fluttershy wants a baby. But she hasn't got a man to help her out with getting pregnant, after months of buying baby toys and supplies to look after her little one, she asks Twilight for a book on how to look after babies complete with step by step parenting classes on how to look after a baby. Although she is ready to look after a baby with the help of her new book, she needs someone to play the baby for her. Coincidentally Rainbow Dash passes by to say hello to her.

The grey earth-pony Octavia Philharmonica has everything she'd ever desired: A small house in Trottingham and appointments at the Concert Hall. But there is something missing. Despite all of her dreams, she is incredible lonely. She even places a small ad in the local paper to find a roommate that fits taste. Once Vinyl, a white-coated unicorn, appears in front of her door, Octavia's world completely changes, bringing back the past that she and Vinyl forgot.

When that only joy is about to be taken away from her at her arranged wedding, she runs away to the first train leaving Trottingham. From there, she ends up in Ponyville, where she meets a rather mute, and irritable DJ named Vinyl Scratch…
Most of the time. She speaks, but not often. More so than when Octavia was able to speak her mind. Will the two be able to heal from the wounds that made them this way, or will Octavia’s mother be able to track her down and ruin everything that has formed between the two musicians?

Vinyl has been keeping a rather large secret from her fans. It's something she's had to deal with since birth. She keeps it a secret because she doesn't want to be viewed differently. She just wants to feel normal, even if its just for those few hours shes on stage. If they knew... she might have to give that up.
