After reuniting with her best friend, Sunset Shimmer has decided to do the one thing that will ensure Twilight will never forget her again: move in with her.

Now it's a simple matter of reconnecting with the mare who stole her heart, learning the ropes of her new home, and continuing her study of magical artifacts... And, perhaps, making new friends as well. All while dealing with all the surprising perils that seem endemic to Ponyville. But none of that could possibly be a problem for a pony as great as Sunset Shimmer, right?

It's going to be a long year.

At 4000 years old, Queen Chrysalis has a lot going for her: she was definitely is a Queen of one of the mightiest changeling hives in all Equestria, she's next in line to be the Queen of Queens, and she is most certainly NOT a virgin. After the repulsion of the Storm King's invasion, Tempest Shadow, being the only pony among the army, is not exiled from Equestria, but left behind to face the charge of treason. At Twilight's discretion, she is made an inhabitant of the Castle of Friendship, and the subject of the Princess' own tutelage on the subject of friendship, just as Starlight before her. In adjusting to her new life, friends, and drastically altered view of the world, Tempest must learn the true meaning of friendship, and the many forms in which it comes. With the support of Twilight Sparkle, Tempest works to develop the bonds of friendship, and find a new normal for herself, perhaps even one which accounts for her and Twilight's ever-strengthening bond.

The day after the Friendship Festival, Fizzlepop Berrytwist, preferably known as Commander Tempest Shadow and previously Second-In-Command to the dreaded Storm King, awakens to realize she has three problems:

1) She has a wicked hangover
2) Somepony else is in bed with her
3) Said pony just happens to be a certain princess.

Revenge. It has been the only thing on Chrysalis’s mind during the months of her exile. What should have been her greatest triumph turned out to be her ultimate downfall. After months of waiting, she has at last developed a plot to win back the support of the changelings and take over Equestria: Run a dating service.

Disguised as the lovely unicorn Cherub, she starts up her business, ready to reclaim what she had lost. However, she soon discovers that the dating world is not as simple as it appears. Realizing that she cannot do this alone, she is forced to seek help from the most unlikely of sources.

Princess Celestia has been planning for this day for years: the return of Nightmare Moon, the restoration of the Elements of Harmony, and the ushering of Equestria into a new age of friendship and love. Now that it's finally arrived, all she has to do is wait for Twilight to get to Ponyville, make some friends, hunt down the Elements, and save the...

Wait, what'd that letter say?

She didn't get on the chariot?

She went to whose party instead?

Oh. Oh, this could be bad. And more importantly, it's gonna need some hooves-on interference from Celestia to get her master plan back on track. But it'll probably all work out in the end. After all, how big a deal could one party be?

  Stuck as an aide to a bunch of second-year students at Gifted Unicorns, Sunset Shimmer thought picking one to tutor might be entertaining… and maybe advance her plans for the mirror and her eventual ascension.
  This 'Moon Dancer' filly is just a means to an end, after all.
  So why can’t Sunset sleep after Moon Dancer storms out on her? Why are Princess Celestia and Professor Polish so concerned about her?
  But most importantly, why is Sunset starting to doubt herself?
  This was all part of the plan. Right?
