Sunset Shimmer has just returned home from a short trip to Equestria, where she was attending her uncle's funeral. Her girlfriend, Twilight Sparkle, was giving a nerve-wracking presentation at an important scientific conference. The two have a conversation, offering mutual love and support.

Tagged sad because Sunny is sad. There's nothing super heavy here, just a bit of SunLight.

Sunset Shimmer has been through a lot but it seems that things have finally got back to some form of normalcy. However, the next chapter in her life is about to begin. Sunset unlocks a part of her past and questions everything she thought she knew about herself. Family, Friendship, magic and maybe a bit of romance is in store for Sunset and her friends and it all starts with the dreaded Friendship games.

Sunset Shimmer never really had a childhood or someone to teach her what she needs to know. So, after the fall formal, Sunset is faced with changes she is not yet ready for: friends and family who are willing to show her just what she's been missing. Will she accept accept this newfound solace or will her fears and insecurities get the better of her? Will she even have a choice?

Somewhere, in Twilight Sparkle’s heart, there was a nagging doubt. Buried under what could only be described as years of study, devotion to the Princesses, and her friends, there was a tiny seed of it. It nipped at the bottom of her soul occasionally, but never badly enough where she regretted a decision. 

Twilight Sparkle is attempting to ease her own mind, but she just can't seem to escape the memories of a certain pink, pegasus filly.

After Trixie threw Starlight Glimmer's plant, Phyllis, into a trash can, Starlight and some of her friends struggle to restart Phyllis's "heart". Princess Twilight Sparkle would go as far as to risk Equestria's existence to save Phyllis's life.

Will Phyllis be saved? Or will there be a plant funeral?

And will Trixie's heart survive the sheer ridiculousness of the "crisis"?

Happens immediately after the season 9 episode "A Horse-Shoe In".

Sunset's favorite jacket is looking pretty beaten up after that whole rainbow laser explosion, and she doesn't know the first thing about fixing leather. Obviously she knows someone who could help her, someone who's already agreed to be her friend. But after everything she's done, she doesn't really think she's in a position to be asking favors. She hasn't earned anyone's friendship yet, and she certainly doesn't deserve anyone's help. Still, she's got no other options. So she'll just have to swallow her pride and beg Rarity to take some pity on her.
Rarity certainly has her work cut out explaining to her how friendship works.

Rainbow Dash was not a pony built for emotional talks, long train rides, and deep conversations. She often considered herself to be the exact opposite of those things.

While in the company of three very different ponies, Rainbow begins to wonder what she's meant to do when the situation calls for anyone but her.

Sunset Shimmer thought she had finally succeeded - all her life, she was pushed to be the best, to let no one stand in her way, to claw her way to the top. She thought she finally achieved everything she could ever want - a school under her iron fist and a seemingly perfect plan to prove her worth to Equestria. She thought she was finally happy.

Weeks later, she realizes she has made a grave mistake. She thought she was finally happy, finally able to show the world she wasn't a failure; little did she know how wrong she was.

Now swearing to become a better person and finally achieving in fixing the destruction she caused, she feels she is on the road to recovery...or is she?

When she comes to the rescue of two of the people she's constantly tormented in the past, truths will be revealed, tensions will rise, and emotions will reach their climax. Can these two so-called "friends" of hers help her in her darkest hour, or will Sunset truly fail to discover the Magic of Friendship?

One week after the Fall Formal, Principal Celestia is surprised to learn that a near-catatonic Sunset Shimmer has been calling out for her in the girl's sleep. Sunset has been unresponsive even to professional medical authorities, so what could have prompted her to call out in her sleep for an educator who had only occasionally interacted with her?
