Idol Hooves holds a special place in Equestria. He's probably the only exiled changeling to serve in the Royal Guard, or at least, that's what he expects, as exiles don't really broadcast that fact. However, it's well known that Princess Celestia loves all of her little ponies, and her guards perhaps more so, and that makes it one of the best ways for a changeling to discreetly feed.

But how does a changeling even get there, let alone get exiled in the first place? For that matter, why would it ever go to Canterlot? Set a number of years before the series proper, before Luna’s redemption, Idol details how he was exiled, the ponies he’s met, and the series of misadventures that led him to joining the Royal Guard, and should continue a good ways into the series, as something of an alternate perspective.

Soon, he’ll have to deal with a boisterous new princess to serve and a royal wedding in the works bringing a third to power. Will his old instincts bring this new life crashing down around him? What precipitates Chrysalis’s ill-fated assault on Canterlot? Is it really so wrong for a changeling to enjoy good craftsmanship to an obsessive degree?

Soarin' and Spitfire have been friends for a long, long time, and their relationship shows it. Right before the Wonderbolts disperse for Hearth's Warming Break, Soarin' drops by the Captain's office for a farewell chat, which leads to more than they both thought.

Written as a request from Wonderbolt Writer.

EDIT: Non-mature featured, which is pretty cool I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This story is a sequel to Track Switch - Frankfurt Calling

Modern just in time supply chains require arcane logistics. The people I work for specialise in that special kind of magic. Me? I just make sure stuff gets from A to B. And I'm good at it.
All over western Europe. Always at night. Always alone - just the way I like it.

Included in the Royal Canterlot Library. Now with Nightline character art by LunarFroxy.

Pre-read by CandyCanine
Reading the prequel is a good idea to get to know the other characters in the story, but not strictly necessary. As long as you like ponies on Earth, you're good.

Anon and his daughter had finally started to settle into their new life amoungst ponies, with Anon now having a steady source of income and his child excelling in school. With the essentials assured, however, Anon started to search for more. After all, life doesn't have to just be the two of them, and he's always been open minded.

Problem is, ponies don't seem to share this trait, and Anon found himself rejected over and over. While he can get dates, no mare ever wants to stick around once they find out he is a single father, apparently caring more about his daughter than the fact that he's an alien.

Ready to give up, Anon is surprised when his daughter makes a very strange friend, and he himself begins to become intrigued with this sweater-wearing mare. Moondancer, for her part, is just trying not to make a fool of herself in front of this strange stallion while his cute-as-a-button daughter does everything possible to make her fall in love with the pair, intentionally or not.

Throughout her life, Vapor Trail has been in the shadow of Sky Stinger, in the best way she could. She didn't want all the attention to herself and wanted to give it to somepony she found special. As the years have gone by, the two have grown close to each other, helping one another accomplish their life long dream: becoming a Wonderbolt. And for once in her life, Vapor Trail didn't want to be in the shadow of Sky Stinger, but in the light beside him.

With both of their dreams accomplished, they can now live the dream... that is, until Vapor Trail had another dream in mind. Because of her closeness with Sky Stinger, the mare developed strong feelings for him and wants to confess her emotions to him.

However, Vapor Trail was unaware of how challenging such a task could be. Vapor Trail has many resources to her disposal, such as teammates and various plots to get the right words out. But will that be enough? Can Vapor Trail get the message across? Or will her chances of being Sky Stinger's special somepony vanish like a vapor of steam?

It's not easy being the Captain of the Wonderbolts - tough, gruff and often far harsher than she would like to be, Spitfire loves her job regardless. She wouldn't do it if she didn't. But the one thing she hates is the stress it brings with it. And paperwork; there are times when she wants to light a bonfire with all of the official files that pass through her hooves. An explosive bonfire.

So she relishes every chance she gets to let loose and just be herself. Shed the uniform and the responsibilities; don her goggles and fly. To feel the wind under her wings, in her mane - see the water inches from her flashing wingtips, waves cresting behind her in the wake of a powerful burst of smoke and flame. Spitfire lives life on the edge of the wild side and she must confess, she gets just as excited about it as Soarin does pie. This is why she loves those rare days off.

Pity they always seem to end up in disaster.
