Inspired by a piece of artwork by Jaaaaaaaz, and Stephen King's magnum opus "The Dark Tower," what follows is an alternate telling of a familiar tale.

For one-thousand years, Princess Celestia has fought a war of attrition against the armies of the Red, but now the rules are about to change, and Celestia must rely on her sheltered prized pupil and a living remnant of a secret order she once believed lost forever.

The one-thousandth anniversary of the Summer Sun Celebration is approaching, a time when Twilight Sparkle believes Equestria's worst nightmare will finally be realised. While she strives to warn the kingdom of impending disaster, the peace of Canterlot is thrown further into disarray by the arrival of an earth pony carrying totems of fierce power, and an even more terrible legacy.

Darker mysteries from Canterlot's past bubble to the surface, as Twilight spins headlong towards a destiny that will mean their salvation, or their damnation.

For the past year or so, Vinyl Scratch has been the star acquisition of the Onyx Pit nightclub, and every Friday, ponies from all over come to jump to her beats. Recently, though, she's been having trouble with creating anything, and her best friend Strobe Light worries about her. When she reveals that she's feeling uninspired, he tells her to listen to some music she's never heard anything like before, and so she finds herself at a concert. A single performer gives her the inspiration she desires, and possibly something more...

This book collects the letters they send back and forth, telling each other about the new places they go and new ponies they meet, comforting each other when they get lonely or homesick, and keeping the spirit of friendship alive.

After the rousing success of her first party, bringing joy to her parents and sisters, Pinkie Pie left her home to teach that joy to others. On her first day in Ponyville she stumbles across a struggling Sugarcube Corner, and resolves to help out the business.

North of Canterlot, in the far marches of Equestria near the border with the Griffon tribes, there is a mountain that flies.

West of Canterlot, beyond the Galloping Mountains and a desert painted in the pastel hues of a faded rainbow, a tower sits at the edge of the world.

South of Canterlot, past the Everfree forest and the desolate badlands, a city of gardens waits to be born.
