Not even best pony is sure.
Not even best pony is sure.
Hey folks,
Bit of a delay on getting this story the gate, but things have been crazy with all the covid and stuff. On the plus side, I'm practicing piano a lot more than usual.
So, if you've been checking out the feature box today, you may have noticed this little gem:
The City that Breathes
Buried beneath the Dragon Lands, there is a city. It rots, and it bleeds.
And it breathes.
So for whatever reason I was reminded that I have a Wacom tablet and an old copy of Photoshop, and I realized it's been a little while since I did any digital painting. Since I'm in a bit of a slow spot with my writing at the moment, I decided to try and illustrate one of my favorite characters from Lost Cities: Queen Platinum.
Hey folks,
If you've been following the Writeoff group (which you should be), you'll already know that we're in the finals of a great round based on the prompt "Distant Shores." My own (still anonymous) story is in the finals, and we'll know in a few days how it did.
I don't abuse my blogging privileges very often, but sometimes there's an author who I admire and who I think has managed something extraordinary. Today that author is JawJoe, who wrote one of my favorite dark fics on this site (Twilight Sparkle: Night Shift), and who today has published something to follow in its steps:
It's a new Lost City! Not by me this time, but by DuncanR, an author you might know for his prolific reviews, or one of my favorite stories, Erase and Rewind.
You might recall that Lost Cities was intended to be an experiment: can I write a complete story using just a location? No characters, dialogue, action, etc. It turns out I could, and DuncanR is next up at bat:
Hey folks,
I was going to wait til I had a new chapter ready to post, but this weekend two community members finished up some projects that I was fortunate enough to help with, and I wanted to pitch their great work.
FIMFiction Interviews: Cold in Gardez
It's much harder than it sounds!
I tried. For over a week I didn't write any stories, just worked on my masters thesis. That thesis, however, is going much more quickly and smoothly than I expected. So last night I was in my room, in the hour or so I have to myself before I rack out, and I got back to writing some pony.
First up, the good folks over at the Royal Canterlot Library just added Lost Cities to their collection. I answered some questions about the writing process and why I love MLP so much. If you get a chance, hit them up!
